Has there been any progress rooting the US version of the S9 (Snapdragon chipset), or is the only rootable version still the F model with the Exynos chipset?
Have any of the later US versions (S10, etc) been successfully rooted?
It is still bootlocked unfortuantely.
Thanks. It can be hard to find clear info, since the forums aren't sortable by chipset/sub-model, only by the commercially advertised name.
Thanks for the help!

To my understanding the Chinese version of Snapdragon 845 is only one that can be bootloader unlocked. How do you tell if the version is Chinese? In the about screen it only says Snapdragon 845...
Where did you "understand" that from? And how those people knew where their chips was manufactured?
Also, even if that would be true (I don't buy it), it would mean that the specific CPU has a hidden bug that can be exploited by the Chinese government too... Is that what you want from your S9?

I got the info from here
*detection*
Code:
As long as they are Exynos, or the Chinese snapdragon, the US Model Snapdragons are bootloader locked
Check the model number. The SM-G9600 is the unlocked Snapdragon variant.

Do you know if SM-G960W is unlockable?

The SM-G960W does not have an unlockable bootloader.

That doesn't tell that the processor Snapdragon is Chinese or US, but that the phone models are US (and have the bootloader locked) or Chinese. So the title of this thread is wrong.
IMO there is no need to specify "US Snapdragon" since the US models have only Snapdragon chips. There is no "US Exynos".
model G9650 and G9600 are chinese/HK variant S9+/9 ,they are all snapdragon SOC and basically the same and can flash firmware to each other without breaking the knox. as I know G9650&9600 can be unlocked bootloader but few people would do it cuz losing samsung pay. you can go to odin flash mode to see if your s9/+ is whatever variant.
So hello guys! I just bought a used Galaxy S9 after almost 3 years with my iPhone 7. I'm so happy to be back with Android since my phone before iP7 was the Galaxy S5. But unfortunately it was locked to a carrier in the Philippines (cause I'm from here so it's Globe locked). I've done some rooting and stuff with my S5 before and flashing firmware so doing this again might need some familiarizing.
I've done some slight research and somehow I didn't find any, or maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. There were different versions of the G960 but the one I easily familiarized with was the U and U1 which were the locked and unlocked versions...
Is it possible to unlock my phone by flashing a firmware? My model number is SM-G960F btw... thanks guys!

do not flash the U1 firmware on a G960F device! Teh F devices have the Exynos processor and the U versions have the snapdragon and are therefore incompatible regarding firmwares. The G960F is the international unlocked version. Go into the settings and factory reset it from within the operating system, download the latest G960F using the frija or samfirm tool with the modified Odin for your desired cell provider. Standard Odin will likely give you errors
I am looking for a Note 10+ from any US provider with the Qualcomm 855 chipset. Have any been successfully rooted?
No
Playa cat - might want to keep watch on this thread. If and when anything does avail itself for the N975U and N975U1 you will undoubtedly find an announcement made.
Hi
Can anyone please recommend me couple rootable S20 models that I can also install LinOS on them? This model needs to be avail in the US.
thanks
They seem to be the same device only for different markets, so would it be possible to flash a b version firmware to a u device? Thanks!
That's not a silly question actually as it wasn't possible before due to hardware differences (Exynos chipset for Europe et Snapdragon for other markets), but now it's only Snapdragon chipset for all markets so... I'll be interesting to know if it's possible too and what it brings that european firmwares doesn't have. Otherwise, there's no point for me.
My interest in this is to remove limitations added to US devices. Idk if software changes would help but stuff like oem unlock for an example.
I'd assume you'd need a rooted device with an unlocked bootloader.
I doubt Samsung would add the US into the OXM roms though it might be worth it to check the firmware you have.
Wont be possible
Thats not the first time samsung got snapdragon variant in différent Counties
Back in the day it was possible de flash BR snapdragon on canada and usa snapdragon or with asian snapdragon
Than they came up with région lock ,
First version of région lock u was able to flash BR snapdragon fw on Canadian and USA and it excluded the Asian months later they updated their région lock so even BR won't work anymore
Its onlt North American FW on North American
You can give it a try it should just block your phone on bootloader till u reflash the your u version or u1 or w
Yeah, whenever I have some time I'll give it a try. I thought region lock was just on new devices and for network access, I didn't know the hardware itself had locks even being identical. Thanks for the reply.
How very Apple...
