Hi
Is there any method up till now to root Samsung galaxy active watch? Can someone share the procedure and relevant image file?
Thanks
1.
Combination Firmware from SM-R800 and SM-R810 are rooted Factory "Service" Firmware...
2.
In theory similar way could work... like I did with SM-R760... Gear S3.
But...
2.1 Untested with SM-R800 and SM-R810...
And
3.
My old way was limited to play with some internals... blabla Commands... little bit Backup with dd Commands...
I was never able to remount rootfs.img rw...
But today first progress.
Info here:

Best Regards
P.S.:
If somebody is interested in rooting SM-R800 and/or SM-R810...
Contact me or write here or we could share knowledge about Combination Firmware and existing Root or we can proceed further with Watch Faces...
hi all
couldn't find information about this using google or searching here.
Useful stuff i've found:
wiki. tizen .org/Porting_Guide/Tizen_Bootup_Overview (no information about signing or checksums) [remove whitespaces]
I was wondering:
1. Can I simply flash anything via Odin and it will still boot or is there some signing going on? maybe just some "custom" packing?
2. Has any1 built tizen "from scratch" using their repos (?
3. Are there more information about the bootloader(s)? do they use u-boot? (saw that in their git repo)
Thanks a lot in advance!

I suggest to choose wisely... because you can brick your device... and only bring back via USB cable for instance:

IMHO useless s h... depend what you want to achieve...
But you could use their daily Tizen 5.5 Images...
Maybe i will add later what I mean...

If you download Firmware for research... you would find sboot.bin Bootloader...

Meanwhile it seems I have progress with Rooting of Stock Firmware...
First test(s) on SM-R815U... with BSE3 Firmware...
In theory I could do this for SM-R800 too...

Wow, this is cool. Do you have access to Tizen 5.5 images? Is it usable as daily driver?

Sounds good! I'm interested into test the root for R800. Let me know if you need testers.
Thanks :good:
I am still waiting for feedback from SM-R810 user...
Here are the SM-R800 files... rooted...

Here is how I create modified rootfs.img
Code:
sdb root on
sdb push .\GearS3root\R8xxSource_su\su /media/SDCardC/Others/
sdb push .\GearS3root\R8xxSource_su\fingerprint_list.xml /media/SDCardC/Others/
sdb push .\GearS3root\R8xxSource_su\fingerprint_list_ext.xml /media/SDCardC/Others/
sdb shell mount -t ext4 -o loop,rw /media/SDCardC/Others/rootfs.img /media/SDCardC/Others/2
sdb shell cp /media/SDCardC/Others/su /media/SDCardC/Others/2/usr/bin
sdb shell cp /media/SDCardC/Others/fingerprint_list.xml /media/SDCardC/Others/2/usr/share/ca-certificates/fingerprint
sdb shell cp /media/SDCardC/Others/fingerprint_list_ext.xml /media/SDCardC/Others/2/usr/share/ca-certificates/fingerprint
sdb shell cd /media/SDCardC/Others/2
sdb shell sync
pause
sdb shell cd /
sdb shell umount /media/SDCardC/Others/2
A
I have inject su Binary
B
I have replaced 2 files from Combination Firmware... to have full access to cert cr a p...
Platform, Partner signed possible...
C
Removed verityctl from end of rootfs.img... with WinHex
I am using Tizen Studio... to manipulate rootfs.img
Because I am Windows Fanboy.

Seems no one is interessted in testing...
I got no feedback from SM-R800 nor SM-R810 user... nor SM-R815U user...
Anyway.
I have progress about "second" write protection on rootfs.img...

WEAR OS
if it was done on the gear s, why isn't it possible to do with the galaxy watch or any others for that matter? I would rather have Wear OS instead of Tizen because of the universal capability to use on multiple platforms, plus the convenience of a plethora of apps. Samsung doesn't have versatility, or so it seems...
Is there anyone who has successfully rooted anything after the S2 and uses Wear?

Still need testers? I'll have the sm-r800 tomorrow and I'd love to root it.

Anybody still carrying the torch for this device? Was given an r800 recently (much better than my moto360!), curious to take a crack at it...

I have R815u if this post is still alive and ongoing. I don't mind testing at all (steps provided of course)
hi guys sorry i have a concern, maybe it is also the wrong place to post this question / file, I am the owner of the galaxy watch active 2 with the latest US 5.5 update
when I install the classic ecg via sdb the icon appears for a moment and then disappears, on the various telegram groups this tpk has been posted in which it is stated that it works but I am doubtful about its origin, can you kindly check this file? thank you so much.
I don't have the tools to be able to analyze this .tpk files so I rely on you, and be aware that it could do damage to your smarthwatch
What kind of phone do you have?
This only works on Samsung devices
After trying ALL manual and futher investigation I found that on SM-R830 there are already installed tpk with id com.samsung.health.samd.bp, and it is system one.
It is not possible to remove it without root. And it prevents from install blood presure app and samsung health monitor. Both have the same id [com.samsung.health.samd.bp].
So there are two possible ways to fix that:
1. Change firmware to remove them (both ecg and bp apps present in CSC file with the same id com.samsung.health.samd.bp (probably it is bug)
2. Somehow get root and remove app from watch
Any idea how to do that? Did any one have expirience to change firmware?
P.S. also I see that there are no such apps on older firmwares, will try on them to solve the problem
I have only Root for CTI4 Firmware Version both:
SM-R820
AND
SM-R830
CTJ5 not leaked yet... so harder to modify rootfs.img...
Best Regards
I just got my watch active 2 in india.
But it lacks features such as ecg , bp and samsung pay .
I was searching and found out that i can install 2 apps ( one of which is samsung health monitor and other one is tpk )
And get them both working.
But i couldnt find how to enable samsung pay..
Please help , i am new to all this coming from apple ecosystem.
Take a look at instruction on the forum and changing CSC to USA or Korean

I have active 2 and I am using it in india. Somehow all my attempts have failed in installing the bp app. Can you explain how you got it to work for your watch
Much thanks in advance

1. If you don't have Samsung Health Monitor (SHM) present on your watch as default app, you can get ECG and BP working with Indian CSC without any system modification simply by installing 3 apks (modified SHM, ECG and BP).
2. However, if you have SHM already installed as a system app on your watch (from Samsung firmware), then you can only get ECG working with the modified SHM apk and the ECG tpk method. The system app won't allow the BP to work (it's locked out by Samsung). You now have 2 options:
A. Use the alternate method detailed by @Dante63 in his thread (involves seting up a java environment on your PC, and using Tizen studio to sign your own apps)
OR
B. Change CSC on your watch to mimic a watch bought in countries where SPay, BP, ECG etc are officially unlocked by Samsung.
I've used the method in B and Changed CSC to ZTO (Brazil) and everything is working fine in India (I live in Chennai)
All this is much easier if you have a Samsung phone, but still do-able with other brand phones.
This thread by @Dante63 has all the information you need for getting ECG and BP working without modifying CSC: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-restriction-removed-11th-april-2021.4202685/
For changing CSC, follow the instructions in TechnoProz's video on YouTube:
You can choose to buy combination firmware and stock firmware files from the internet, or use files uploaded by @adfree and @Nmc_alvesĀ® on this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/firmware-r820-r830.4161883/
Just make sure to double and triple check your watch model number, and your firmware and Tizen version carefully before proceeding because a bad flash can potentially ruin your day and although recoverable, it's a pain to get USB Odin working on a watch.
I will also add that if you want Samsung Pay to work, and you do not have a Samsung Phone, running stock ROM, you will need:
Install Magisk (root/superuser access)
And then will need to:
check you pass SafetyNet (you might want this to test, as currently the inbuilt test in Magisk Manager is not working: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scottyab.safetynet.sample ) Passing SafetyNet can very much be down to the ROM, so you may need to seek help from the ROM thread of the ROM youre using
enable MagiskHide under Magisk Manager Settings
enable MagiskHide for ALL Samsung related packages (Gear/Samsung/Watch Plugins)
enable Hide The Magisk App (call it anything but anything with Magisk in it)
reboot
then try adding card to Samsung Pay
If Samsung Pay even sniffs root you will NOT get Samsung Pay working - as it writes to a database somewhere and you will have to erase data for the Gear/Samsung/Watch Plugin apps and reset the Watch to start over
Im in the middle of doing a write up on how to keep the watch and Samsung Pay working across ROM flashes....i wont throw that on you in this post
p.s. Welcome to Freedom, from being stuck in the Apple cult. You've made it!

Looking forward to your write-up. Sounds very intriguing and I'd love to hear more about it. It's amazing to see how large corporations like Samsung employ sneaky traps to stop people from modifying their phones and how someone determined enough can figure out ingenious ways to bypass all that It's a perennial cat and mouse game that I quite enjoy.
Looking forward to your thread.

While i can maintain the watch connection and Samsung Pay across ROM's (it is just re-using the same Android ID and magisk.db (that stores the magiskhidden packages)), there doesnt seem any way (currently) to maintain BP calibration data ....so i do have to recalibrate that every time
I dont enjoy the cat and mouse at 50

Keeping Watch Connection And Samsung Pay Across ROMs
This is currently how i keep my Galaxy Active 2 working - connected and Samsung Pay working - across ROM flashes without having to reset it every time, because resetting sucks Please note: At time of writing theres no known way to keep BP...

Well, before updating my watch to tizen 5.5.0.2 i successful installed bp monitor and then delete it on my own. No i dont have shm on my watch right now. At present when i am trying to follow dante's instructions to install 3 apps.. i get to do it successfully for shm and ecg but i get failed to install message for bp monitor app. Any clue why? I tried 3 apps from different sources multiple times.

Can you please describe what you're doing a little more clearly? Tizen 5.5.2.2 can mean one of many firmwares - DUA3, DUA7, DUD1. Which one are you running?
The SHM app you're installing - is it the phone app or the Watch companion app?
Are you trying to install ECG and BP standalone apps along with the SHM app for the watch? You don't need all three - either install the first 2 or the 3rd one (it has ECG and BP built in)
When I was on DUA3 firmware, I only installed 2 apps:
1. Modified SHM app for the phone (v189)
2. SHM companion app for the watch
This got both ECG and BP working.
After that I have changed CSC to get these apps natively and am on DUD1 firmware, so I'm unable to test for you if Samsung has done something to disable BP in the newer firmware.
