I recently unlocked my Sprint branded Note10+ and switched to Verizon. My phone won't stop trying to connect to the Sprint network even with the Verizon SIM card in. I have tried factory resets, wiping the cache, I even installed Verizon firmware onto the device using Odin. Even with the Verizon firmware, it still says that it's a Sprint branded phone in the settings. I'm frustrated because my phone always says that it's roaming, so it won't download picture messages or use data etc. For some reason the setting to turn on roaming data is missing. I am totally lost. At this point I might have to switch back to sprint or sell my phone unless someone can help me get my data working.

Three things I can think of..
Are you sure the phone is actually unlocked or not?
Did you get the phone unlocked by Sprint or another service?
What was the process (or steps you took) you used when switching from Sprint to Verizon firmware?
Note - Question 3 is just seeing if you may have done inadvertently something wrong or skipped a step.

I unlocked the phone through Sprint customer service and they have confirmed that it is indeed unlocked for international and domestic services.
The flashing was done using Odin 3.13 PatcheD. I factory reset the phone, flashed, factory reset, then attempted to activate the phone. After many failed activation attempts, I flashed again and tried it with nanderase selected to no avail.

With the sim card out the entire process did you flash the U1 firmware, factory data reset the phone, and then flash the Verizon Firmware and factory data reset the phone (after flashing the Verizon firmware).
Also did you use the other CSC file (not the home_CSC) as well as the appdata file when flashing the Verizon firmware?
Following. I have a T-Mobile Note 10+ that I am trying to flash to Verizon. It takes my Verizon SIM fine and functions, but I cannot flash Verizon firmware to it and it still says it is T-Mobile branded even after restart.
The flashing process appears to work correctly, and Odin gives me a success, but when the phone reboots it is still T-Mobile.

Yes, I have tried that as well. I flashed everything and made sure to use the userdata as well as the csc, not the home csc data.

Turned out I wasn't getting the Pop-up to change the carrier code with U1 flashed. I followed the additional instructions here when I had the U1 firmware flashed to force the screen up. Now I see the proper VZW/VZW/TMB when checking under software information.
I get the feeling this may be required for you @jsleatherbury to get the phone to stop acting like a Sprint phone! I had no issue putting my Verizon sim card into my phone and getting service with the the T-Mobile software, but this might be what @jsleatherbury requires.

You have to flash the unlocked Note 10+ firmware, then it will be unbranded and connect just fine. Did it to mine.

Oh...I forgot... I did have imeigurus.com unlock the device first, then flashed unlocked firmware and all three were XAA/XAA/XAA. So I'm assuming the unlock procedure is actually what gave me that CSC. I then flashed unlocked firmware and had no issues.
I'm having the same problem. When I got into the software screen I'm seeing sprint still. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I tried flashing to verizon firmware. Now I'm unable to use any data. It keeps saying "You have lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming turn off" When I go into the settings don't see an option to turn on data roaming. I can't seem to get it to change to vzw. Anyone have a vzw csc only not a multi.

make sure ur apn is set correctly and put device in global mode.. if all else fails maybe get a new sim card and check with your carrier that theres no towers down or without lte in ur area..
I got it fixed!! It was on global still wouldn't work. I found a thread on here about a program called Activity Launcher. Found the secret network menus and boom it's working! Thanks for all the help.

Hello,
I have called Sprint many times, after they keep telling me it is unlocked domestically and internationally, I finally gave up. The phone simply says to contact sprint to unlock. I have no idea what to do. When I press UCCI Unlock it gives me an internal error(407). I tried flashing unlocked firmware (U1) But it does not work on that either. Tried booting up with T-Mobile sim inside, still same result. What to do?
Please help!
I had the same problem. I did a factory reset of my phone, and afterwards, the phone was automatically unlocked. For me, it seemed like a firmware bug.
Hi all. After the phone get unlocked, flash the U1 firmware and you'll be just fine. On the U1 firmware, T-Mobile is the only US carrier network that utilize the full potential of the U1 firmware, Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE. Verizon second with VoLTE, Sprint and AT&T no ? good on U1 firmware, only standard U firmware. Happy flashing
Hey guys new to the forum. I have purchased an unlocked note 10+. I was wanting to flash ATT firmware to it so I could have wifi calling video calling etc.. Anyways I have tried this multiple times with no success. I have downloaded what I thought was the right firmware but it still boots up with the samsung logo. When I use odin it says PASS and everything. Can anyone help me out here..?
You need to start from a reset phone. start phone with att sim. it will provision phone and restart. THEN flash att firmware. should boot up to att logo.

So I need to start at the beginning with a factory reset phone with a att sim installed? Also could you tell me where and what firmware to download for Odin?
yes. start from fresh reset in unlocked phone. then you will need to enable "usb debugging" , flash att firmware. (in "guides, news, and discussion" a post by iBowToAndroid) That is what I did to flash att firmware on my unlocked note10+. WiFi calling still does not work, hopefully a call to att will fix this.
Unless the IMEI is within a series in the AT&T system, no amount of calls or fiddling with the firmware will enable it. Even if you manage to get the AT&T boot logo, your carrier features won't enable. I'm speaking from experience dating back to the Note 9 and as recently as attempting with my wife's Note 10 upgrade. If you have a non-AT&T branded device, it will not provision the carrier features. At best, they'll be enabled for a day or so, maybe until a restart.

Hi there.
I bought an unlocked American AT&T Note 10+ and brought it to Mexico. I have it with Telcel as my carrier. My question is, how can I update it to Android 10?
I've checked the software update through the settings menu and I'm still on the freaking August security patch and it says I'm up-to-date.
Thanks in advance, my friends.
I think there's an issue with the on the air update function for the Galaxy Note 10+. Mine is doing the same, it's stuck on July 2019 security patch and Android 9, and keeps saying it's up to date when I check for updates. And I think it's causing issues with apps, Disney+ says my device is incompatible, and now Netflix started saying the same and won't update through the store.
I'm stuck with AT&T software because I need wifi calling, but since you're using the phone abroad, you aren't. You can get a non-carrier firmware for your model (the model number is in Settings, About phone) here: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-10-plus/firmware/.
Get all the files you need ahead of time, and read the instructions thoroughly and understand them before you start, anything that happens to your device is on you. Backup all your data outside the phone, once you start there's no going back. You'll need a PC and a USB cable that reliably connects the phone to the computer, if you have one of those cables that disconnects with the slightest touch, get another one.
My friend had this issue with his att Galaxy S10 and we installed an update from firmware science and then it started updating normally.

I have an ATT Note 10 Plus too - I flashed N975U TMB firmware (it is exactly the same as ATT Essentially) I flashed firmware from Frija (for SM-N975U - with TMB entered in the CSC field) - flashed that - with my ATT Sim Card in the phone - and when the phone booted up - I had the ATT Logo on Boot - and WiFi Calling and Video Calling both work perfectly.
YOu don't need to wait for the update to come thru - you can flash the Firmware in the thread for N975U Firmware using ODIN and you will be fine.

Thanks. Do you know if the Software Update function works too? I skimmed the thread and saw something about OTA updates not working with some firmwares. I'll start reading the 27 pages in a bit, but thought about asking since your case is the same as mine.

My version is not listed in the drop down menu, and from the update sizes these don't look to be cumulative. Still, thanks for the suggestion. I'd love to be able to just flash an update without wiping my phone.
Previous posters are correct. At&t is horrible with OTA updates. My Note 8..9..and now 10 has never gotten an OTA I always have to flash the updates myself. And yes the firmware is the same and it will provision to your sim. I'm kinda OCD and prefer the hardline flashing to ota...lol[emoji106]

I think it's more than just AT&T being horrible with updates, if it was that then none of the phones would be getting one. It's almost like there's a lot of phones that came with defective software that doesn't pull updates, or Samsung or AT&T have so many software versions and they forgot to publish updates for some of those versions.
I haven't been flashing phones for a few years now, since I had a Galaxy S4, mainly because how time consuming it was to reconfigure the phone from scratch every time and my company requiring official status to get email. So I'm out of the loop, but I've never heard of some carrier phones getting updates and other not for the same model.
Well as of now my Note 9 still sits on November patch as well as many others I know that are on At&t

Mine is on July patch and it's never received an update since I got it, that's why I think there's something else going on besides normal ATT slowpokeness.

I thought that I read that even if you have a carrier unlocked ATT Branded Model phone, you will not get any OTA updates unless you put an active ATT SIM back into the phone.
I have a Samsung Unlocked Note 10+ and flashed the ATT firmware (ATT UserData file with probably the rest of the files being from T-Mo) from the time I've owned the phone since the launch month. I have never received even one OTA. When I log into my ATT online account, several places indicate unknown phone type. One dropdown menu does show that it's a Note 10+. ATT classifies me as a "Bring Your Own Phone" customer and a rep told me I'll never get an OTA!
Now, I bought my Husband a new Samsung Unlocked (XAA) model S10e last month. I immediately flashed the ATT UserData file and the July Security firmware. I used his old ATT SIM (SIM has been in the ATT system for 4 years). I went to Software update and received all ATT OTAs up to the December Security patch with Android 10. I just checked to update the software for the January Security patch but it says I'm up to date.
I'm not sure if I re-flash the ATT UserData file and firmware starting with Bootloader 2 (can't remember which month the security patch was for) if I would ever get the OTAs or not. Don't feel like risking a factory restore right now since it takes me forever to re-setup my phone (even with SmartSwitch).

It's more than just the sim card, as I use AT&T on an AT&T branded phone. I checked my account and it also shows it as Unknown Phone. It may be because I used my sim card to add an old AT&T dumb phone to my account so I can then request an unlock code. I'll try switching to another smartphone, see if my account picks it up so then I can switch back to the Note 10+. When I first got the Note 10+, I still used my S8 for some time, and every time I switched phone it appeared on the AT&T app or website.
Thanks for the idea. If it works, you saved me from flashing from scratch and spending several hours configuring the phone.
UPDATE:
I got the att site to recognize the phone by putting the sim in another smart phone and then putting it back in the Note 10+. But still the phone doesn't pull OTA updates.

I have a N975U running on Pie, and a N975U1 running on Android 10. Pie has some advantages over Android 10. 10's UI is a bit slicker with better dark mode options.
If you stay with Pie, install Karma Firewall and Package Disabler to help secure and optimize it.
11 and 12 are dogs with cpu cycling sucking scoped storage fully active. Think it over very carefully before updating to 11 and especially 12.
Android 10 is as high as I would go; the Note 10 will run very well on either 9 or 10.

I bought my mom the A505U for Mother's Day and she is on T-Mobile.
She has it all set up and says calling and everything worked automatically but when she start up the phone it has the Verizon splash screen, so it looks like came with Verizon firmware. Is it recommended to put different firmware on their, like the "USA" firmware from Sammobile or is there really not much difference. I think she said she also had trouble with the voicemail, but she eventually got it setup but says it doesn't work the same as her old T-Mobile phone. Also, if I put a different firmware on their via Odin, will it wipe her phone?
Thanks in advance.
"if I put a different firmware on their via Odin, will it wipe her phone?" - yes
How often does she restart it? its not really a problem just branding, im sure you could get the t-mobile one and it would have the t-mobile boot screen instead, most a50s are the same inside - its really user preference

I didn't see a T-Mobile firmware on the site. I only saw Verizon, Sprint, Comcast, and USA. I'm guessing USA is the unlocked version. I don't think T-mobile carries the A50.
I think she restarts her phone very little, probably only when it dies. I guess it's not that big of deal. Just an annoyance i guess.

the phone has multi csc meaning it doesnt matter which firmware is used.. it should change with the sim card inserted.
you could try entering into dial pad *#272*IMEI# then selecting TMB.. this will most likely wipe the phone tho

Yeah, I think she would rather deal with the splash screen then wiping her phone. She has it all setup and everything. Everything works fine, it's just the splash screen, and I think the voicemail works differently but she got it working though. I will ask her what specifically is different with the voicemail but I'm pretty sure she rarely turns it off anyways. I will talk to her about it and ask her if it's worth it to wipe the phone or not.
Thanks the reply!

I get an error while doing this.
I guess I will just try to flash the "USA" firmware through Odin. I guess she is having a couple annoying problems:
Samsung Cloud is hidden and even shortcutmaker wont open it.
Voicemail/Visual voicemail problems
Splashscreen
Regular error notification that the sim is not a verizon sim.
and a couple other ones I can't remember.

Did you set the APN information correctly?
Also are you using the N975U1 firmware or the standard AT&T firmware?
Are you using the BYOD sim card from straight talk?
What have you done over the phone with Straight Talk as far as troubleshooting? - this one can be important. If the phone isn't working with straight talk only it maybe a configuration (apn setting) or provisioning issue.
Are you sure the device is compatible with the area or region your in?
What provider/tower (Verizon, AT&T, etc.) does straight talk have you going through?
More information on what you have done to setup the phone for straight talk, troubleshooting steps you have taken, what information straight talk may have provided (etc. etc.) will help others be able to help you. Providing little or no details makes it rather hard to offer any help.
The apn won't let me put dun in the type I sim unlocked it with a puk code and got strighttalk byop I tried flashing the U1 firmware to it wouldn't take it so I did a Verizon firmware thinking that might help and same thing with the striaght talk it doesn't wanna work i put a Verizon sim in it and it works just like it did on ATT so I'm confused as to why the straight talk sim won't work they can't figure it out on their end either
I factory reset the phone reset network settings did just about everything I could with the phone besides it being funny about the apn cuz it says apn cannot be changed on this device if you put dun in the apn type i dunno the only thing I notice is when the Verizon sim card is in the phone the network mode is set to global whereas with the striaght talk its LTE/CDMA and it won't let you change it to global

Straight Talk uses different mobile providers to offer service different areas.. They utilize Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile (Sprint and T-Mobile have merged recently, but Sprint towers are still active).
I have seen posts across the internet that indicate you should be using the U1 firmware on the phone.. I would make sure your converting the phone to the U1 firmware properly.
If I recall correctly (this is how I did it previously) when flashing the U1 firmware make sure your doing it without the sim card installed and using the non home_csc file. Factory data reset the phone after you successfully flash the U1 firmware and then insert the sim card after setting the phone back up (so it can apply the new sim/network settings).
I would strongly suggest you do not restore a backup during initial setup when you do this. If you restore a backup it may restore previous network settings/configurations that were for what you had previously.
If flashing U1 firmware doesn't help (and since this this is a Straight Talk specific issue) then it's more then likely on the end of Straight Talk. I would call them and make sure that your sim card is the correct one for the cell towers they have you going through and the phone you have. Using an incompatible sim card (or one that is faulty) can cause issues like this. You can also have them send you another sim card to try.
Also contact them to make sure the service is properly provisioned and activated on your phone. Double check the APN with them, and see if they have an alternative one to try. It is also possible that a service outage maybe (or issue with Straight Talk internally) in your area, so I would call them to make sure that neither are not the case here.

The Global setting doesn't really matter in this case and your phone will be set to use the towers that Straight Talk has you going through.
The only thing that I can think of that would be a problem with network mode is if your sim card from straight talk is meant for a different provider then the towers they use in your area (i.e. sim card is for AT&T but the provider they have for the area is Sprint).
the straight Talk sim works in other phones no problem a s8 and a older note im thinking att has something in the software to block other apns i dunno i unlocked it with a PUK code and flashed verizon firmware on it thinking i could get passed it but the verizon sim works 100% and the att sim works 100% too but a straighttalk sim card (verizon) towers the phone tries it shows 4g and disappears and then it shows it has service but cant call it just says emergency calls only

I would not use older phones as a means to say the sim card is good. Besides that's irrelevant to what is going on with the Note 10+

Then this means one of two things... Either you didn't get the phone unlocked or else you did not convert to another carrier (or the U1 firmware XAA region) correctly.
If your using the unlocked firmware (U1 XAA region) then you should be able to edit the APN. If not then you should be able to create one.

That sounds like either the sim card isn't good, the phone was not activated/provisioned properly in there systems (call them and double check IMEI and model information), the phone is not compatible with the service they offer in your area (I suggest using the XAA region U1 firmware in this case) or else your phone is not fully unlocked.
I would also suggest google searching or else asking them for any updated or alternative APN's to try. It maybe very likely the one you have is not suitable for the phone/area... It wouldn't be the first time I have had an issue similar to this like this.
I am opt to believe the first 3 are the most likely scenarios since the phone works on Verzion with the sim card per your indication.
Yeah and the only reason I tried the older phone is to see if the sim card is activate with the number and the phone itself pulled the apn from network when I tried to flash to U1 the phone gave me a error but it took the Verizon firmware for the 975U but its still not working do you know of a good link for the firmware your talking about so I can try that

From personal experience I would advise in the future you don't do that. When you activate the phone you should activate the one you are using and definitely do not use an older phone to activate a newer phone. I have had many problems with this in the past as provisioning for an older phone didn't always work for my newer ones..

I waited for you to give more information on the issue, but you didn't. So I am sorry, but if you don't provide the details of what is going on it makes helping you very difficult. You didn't say what error you are getting, what the firmware version(s) are of what your trying to flash and what is currently on the phone.
Here's the last piece of help I can offer now.
I can tell you that the following can be found on the forum by searching:
Links and how to obtain the firmware - Multiple threads asking the same question exist here. Also Frija, SamFirm, SamMobile are just a few examples of what can be found referenced here.
Bootloader version(s) - what will happen when you try to downgrade and what will happen (along with a important thing) when you upgrade.
Websites to find firmware - SamMobile and some others have been mentioned.
Patched Odin - In case you need the latest version it has been mentioned here already.
I can also tell you that by using Google and searching for SM-975U1 XAA on Sammobile does in fact work.
Brother give me root file for note 10 plus SM-N975U android 10 version one Ul version 2.5 plz help me
