Auto-Brightness delay

Anyone experiencing any lag with the auto-brightness adjusting when you you turn on the screen? It's not all the time but sometimes my screen seems to stay pretty dim for awhile before adjusting.

Auto brightness on this phone sucks big time. Its useless, either the screen is very bright or very dim. On my EVO lte auto brightness was kick ass. Its always gave me the right amount of brightness base on my light situation, while on this phone it only seems to have 2 settings.

Staying tuned as mine does this also. Its not a terrible issue but curious if there is a fix, thanks

As far as I know, there's no fix yet. But you may want to give Lux (workaround ) from market ago for now.

Have you noticed a significant battery drain with Lux? I'm assuming you need to disable the stock auto-brightness to use it right?

Ive been using LUX since i got my GS3.....im in and out of places all day long and LUX seems to work GREAT for me....no real battery drain imop.
Just hate having the icon in top bar.....but im used to it now

I was able to remove the icon in the settings.

Is there any way to remove the stock brightness slider from notifications? It's kind of pointless with Lux.

went from a well lit room to a dark room....no change opened lux and it changed levels. did this a few times.
that was an early build and ive kept the same settings since....maybe ill try again with current version.

Gotcha. I haven't had any issues so far but I'll post in this thread if I do. I love this app! It's 10x better than the stock auto-brightness setting.

Hi works really well to turn on/off screen,but when you have it enabled for WiFi also it gets a bit confusing.when you swipe to unlock screen great,hold hand for 2 seconds great WiFi comes on but when you want to just turn off WiFi it turns off screen no matter and you need to swipe screen back on and turn off WiFi manually as it always turns off screen before you turn off wifi,not a complaint just an ob but a really great app

Yeah the app works very well. Please guys report if it drains battery or decreases the sensors age .

Maybe an issue? When disabling the game mode, the screen turns off (Turn off/on the screen by motion is enabled).

This is behavior needed to fully active the game mode. I am actually trying to get it working without it.

New update information
Hey guys I actually fixed a lot of stuff I did a lot of changes but some things are still delaying me from being able to release the new update.
Actually new update may be possible to be seen by the end of this week.
As long as I am working on it alone it is really hard for me and I am giving it, all the free time I have I spend a lot of nights on it.
So if you guys would be that kind please consider some small donation. I want to buy S4 to see how the things are going on it. Or an HTC One so I can test the app on powerful device and improve it more and faster. Or just buy me a coffee or a donut. Many thanks, many thanks.

Very little, I guess that would vary depending on the duration and the amount of notifications.

Make sure you have the app set to Don't Optimize if you haven't already. I'm not sure why it isn't working for you and not sure what you have for set up.

It is an amazing app!
I'm using this, had figured it out even before this thread.
Turn on 'New Notifications' in Ambient Display and also do not optimise the app.
It works. And it's the coolest alternative to a notification LED.

On my 6T, it drained 6% in 3 hours..also, fingerprint unlock is not smooth with this app.
Sometime noticed issues with auto brightness turned off automatically after unlocking screen.

Mine uses little or no battery at all. Right now I have been up for 13 hours and AOE doesn't even register and I have been getting all my notifications

Use it for 2 days because I thought plus beat not working anymore ( I accidentally turn off lock screen notifications).
AOE working well but lack of feature I want - battery full notification.
Now back to plus beat.

Just installed this and it appears to be working. This is the first app that I see doing what I wanted (a very unobtrusive way of telling if notifications have arrived).
Did not need to to activate "New Notifications" under Ambient Display for it to work. Are you sure it's needed?
I'm not managing to customize the color of the colored stripes according to the app sending a notification. Not that I care too much, on Nexus 6P LED color was mostly irrelevant to me. I just needed a visual cue that something needed my attention if I missed the audio one.

I didn't do anything with new notifications either, but I am glad it's working for you.

I got it working but it times out after 1 minute. I have my display set to sleep after 1 minute of inactivity but if this follows that rule it's kind of useless for notifications.
Maybe I'm missing a setting?
Edit: found the setting I was missing.

What setting? I also see this behaving strangely. It seems that, as other apps, it gets killed in the background even if one opts not to battery optimize it.
OP behaves exactly like Apple in this regard: they get to decide how I should use *my* smarphone.

These right here let it run indefinitely. I tested last night and it was telling me I had a notification until I actually dismissed it after 30 minutes.

Yeah, I set all that. Results have been inconsistent as far as working after long inactivity is concerned.
I wish OP had thought of baking something similar in their OS, when they decided to take away the LED.

I agree, I wish OnePlus had baked something like this into the stock ROM. My second screenshot doesn't look like it posted for some reason so here it is.

5% battery usage. Not cool. This with "Stable" edge styling, which should be the best for battery.

Whats a Good AOD App?

Hi guys.. I've tried using an AOD app called 'always on amoled.' Its a good AOD app. Unfortunately it drains battery 3% every hour even when I set the screen to forbid showing AOD except for notifications. Can someone suggest a good AOD app thats has a good battery footprint?

It doesn't drain that much .. your third party app will drain 2x more.. what u want everything to show for? so if the ''aod'' is ONLY, then why using always on display you don't need to use it when u want to show everything always on serves only for time n date ... nothing else .. later naively ppl started complain ooh there is no msg notification or mail or even more so huawei added it later on update.. and ppl STILL not satisfied
this oh and that too... so everything?? so don't use it then at all ..

Aod drains battery. Dont know what phone youre using that makes you think it doesnt. I only want aod on notification ONLY. Dont know why you think theres a problem with someone wanting that feature on their phone.

Yes there is
Such a madness or sis substratum theme
Madness is paid byt sis not
And I'm not sure that works on stock rom you know
However it's mire wise to use custom rom tgat have more clocks by default and you can use themes without any major problem

I couldn't get S.I.S. to work. I didn't feel like registering for Telegram just for this, so I didn't look very far into it. Building the lockscreen themes stated that it couldn't find certain resources to replace, so it aborted.
I did get Madness to work, however. Since it focused so much on the lockscreen and not AOD, I was a bit skeptical... but every lockscreen clock I tried out worked just fine with AOD, though finding one I wanted to use was a bit time consuming. All I wanted was a large clock despite using tiny DPI text in the OS. There were a couple larger clocks that were not affected/ruined by my DPI settings.

It seems like there's an issue when the device is unplugged, the AOD clock doesn't reliably update. I've heard that homescreen widgets can have this issue if a non-system font is used for the clock. I may have to do some more research about this as it's a sizable problem to have a visible clock with the wrong time. (sometimes off by more than an hour)

The AOD clock is controlled by System UI. Adaptive Battery has never interfered with Android's own clock before. Help me understand what your thought process is...?
I admit that I haven't done a lot of research on the internals of substratum, but my impression was that it did not use an active process to make the changes.

Turning off adaptive battery didn't help.
This is what I'm experiencing that only started after using the substratum modification.

i have a workaround, just disable and re enable the motion sense after enabling theme. and let me know

Thanks for tracking this thread down before I had the chance to look at Telegram, heh.
I tried rebooting without making any substratum changes, then disabling and re-enabling Motion Sense. Unfortunately, it didn't help.
It seems that it takes a couple hours idle for it to start happening. Then once it happens, it will keep happening until the phone is fully unlocked. Tapping the screen will update the time once, but it still requires an unlock or similar(?) to fix for longer than a minute.
Approaching the phone with only motion sense waking the phone will not even update the time, even though it shows the lockscreen wallpaper instead of being dark.

One of my user reported this workaround. this doesn't seems to fix the issue completely. I can't fix this as the issue is not from my end.
