Tried OnePlus 7t on Visible? Issues? Workaround? - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

I'm curious if anyone has tried the 7t on the visible Network by Verizon. I got my Sim in the mail yesterday and there were some issues with the app. The phone recognized the Sim but I could not activate because the app didn't recognize that the Sim was inserted and therefore could not proceed. I currently have a case being worked by visible. I checked my IMEI before ordering the Sim and visible said it was compatible. I'm curious about others experience with visible using the 7T. If anyone else has had a similar experience and has a workaround it would be greatly appreciated.

7T works fine here. Followed their instrutions for provisioning (reboots etc)and works fine. Default voicemail password is 1234.
(My carrier tag on XDA says "Verizon" because there's no Visible tag)

One thing I found, was that the Visible SIM fit very loose in the tray--it kept wanting to push itself out as I was closing the tray and needed held in. Barring that--there have been a few app updates--could try rolling back versions via apkmirror etc.
For people whom it works--it is quite great....but people with issues find Visible support generally useless, unfortunately .

Update....I was able to activate on the OnePlus 6t using the app and swap the SIM back to the 7t and it worked. I would have tried this much earlier but visible said they didn't support the 6t.....go figure.

[REQ] Sim tool kit

Hello, Other roms have an icon, I have tried starting the service by entering the command su am start Stk
Or same but for com.android.stk or com.stk.android, or combinations of the same.
Has anyone succeeded? Pushing Stk from other roms doesn't work.

Try something like this:

Your sim has to have addons for toolkit to run.

No joy. Says no such class. Read on google about needs to be built into rom as android unloads on boot.
I do already see stk.apk in system/app. My posts in other thread were to get back to original because I overwrite without backup

I had my number ported onto this sim. But my.phone refuses to recognise new number in say status screen.
Also impacts samsung dive which tries to locate based on cell number so useless without the right phone number played back to apps when needed.
I understand will also stop my phone banking only piece of crap about this phone

I can confirm that this phone does support and have Sim Toolkit - I'm using it right now. To use any services related to it you will need corresponding SIM and you should have separate applications in your app list. Well, at least that how I see it on my phone and have seen on Motorola Milestone (not on Nexus S, but that's entirely another story).

Had the same issue, I just popped my sim in my HD2 and changed it from there. If you haven't got a spare phone lying around, see if you can borrow one off a friend for a few minutes

Update: After trawling 6 phone shops, and none having phones except locked iphones or android I returned home disappointed. Out of interest tried my old HTC magic on CM7 - had the right menus, job done!

I think this is weird enough for a new thread: I recently got this G3 Stylus and, as usual, I proceeded on rooting. This time using KingRoot. Done easily, I must admit. Now, since KingRoot installed some unwanted and "unreadable" stuff, I've turned my sight over Super-Sume (you know what it does)... Super-Sume performed it's job as expected, replacing everything it has to with Supersu. Following the process and right after reboot, something weird happend: my installed SIM card appeared as an "invalid SIM card". Rebooted again and still the same message. Turned off the phone, took the SIM card out, reinstalled, turned on again... same message. Device had lost network connection, but it was able to send and receive data!!!... started research about the particular issue, but found nothing similar anywhere. Then I've tried three SIM cards from different carriers and they worked flawlessly. Installed the "invalid SIM card" again (which is from the phone's original carrier, BTW) and the issue was still there. Then, about 12 hours later, data was lost as well and SIM became useless in this phone. Tested another card from the very same carrier and it was useless to; however, this two cards worked perfectly on three different phones, so not a card issue. Contacted Super-Sume developer and he told me there's NO relation between his app and such kind of issue. OK. Contacted carrier and they know nothing. OK. Next, I resolved to look for some hint at "Replace Kinguser with SuperSu" XDA thread, where fellow member "CVangelo" suggested to check if phone asks for unlock code. Well, it does. So the phone is SIM locked after all, but JUST FOR ONE CARRIER!!! which happens to be the phone's original carrier. Not to blame Super-Sume for the mess. Perhaps is a "gift" left from KingRoot due to getting rid of it. Or perhaps is just coincidental. Point is, this is clearly a weird issue as most of you can see; at least until somebody rises her/his hand with an explanation. Who's first?

Only thing I would say is that it is network locked but in the exact reverse of what you would expect. Never heard of such a thing or knew it was even possible. Is there anyone with experience in network locks who can explain exactly what kind of network lock this? It may help explain what might have happened and how.

Hey... no one seems interested. I'm assuming no one will until someone else have the same issue. Though, I've been making some questions to some other "lock acquainted" people and most say it is kinda "blacklisted" lock "for sure". In such cases, the original carrier locks first; if you try another network carrier SIM, it will work for typically 3 to 5 more days and up to 8 (no more than that) then, that carrier will lock as well, and so on. Thing is, this phone IS NOT "blacklisted" (I've already made an inquiry for that in the global page) and there's about 17 days since original carrier network became locked. So... weirdness remains. On the other hand: How is that you're using "XDA free app"? I'm forced to use "Premium" because "Free" simply didn't work anymore on my devices. I like free version because it has more options and you can sign and stuff...

Really? I didn't even know there was Premium version. What's even the point of that? Lol. Whaddaya mean, the Free version didn't work anymore? Mine just keeps on ticking...but I only started using it after I had been signed up on the website and participating on XDA via the desktop browser for ages. Had you signed up on the website, or only on the app?

Well, signed both... "Premium" was once the paid app, as far as I know. I wasn't using "Free" app for a month or so; then when I required it again, it just didn't open. So I checked the store and they've turned "Free" into an earlier android versions app, thus it won't work for me anymore. Had to download "Premium" (now "Free") to keep going. If you can send the "Free" apk, I'll give it a try... Thanks!

Bought a brand-new Pixel 3 from Google, inserted my T-Mobile SIM card, (Goodbye Sony Xperia Series! Good Riddance!) and went about my business with my new Android 10 phone.
But a few days after, just today, I see a screen pop up that was pink - I asked me if I wanted to check and see if my phone was "eligible" for unlocking.
One surmises that T-Mobile noticed the new device ID associated with the same old SIM card, and downloaded the app WITHOUT PERMISSION AND WITHOUT ANY NOTICE THAT THEY WERE DOING SO. They also did not even bother to check the ID against their own inventory to determine if they had sold the phone or not, if they did, they would have seen that it was a Pixel, which they don't offer.
At no time did I visit a T-Mobile sit or download any T-Mobile related apps. They just took it upon themselves to silently install software without even asking.
So here's the punchline - what ELSE might they have installed, and how can I be sure about this?
What else might they install in the future? On whose behalf?

I noticed the same thing on my pixel 3 xl and I'm on Google Fi and I can't uninstall that app to unlock my phone, I can only disable the app

What's worse is that the app itself claims that you CAN remove the app, after it has (correctly) determined that the phone is not locked.
Is your app also a "T-Mobile" app with a pink icon, or is it a variant that is branded for the Google FI service?

The app is pink I believe I got a Verizon pixel 3 xl cause the OEM unlock option is greyed out so I can't even root the phone
During the initial setup, there is a "sneaky" screen that asks if you want to finish (or something, I forgot). But if you expand that screen, there are several apps that Google intends to install, and you can opt out right there. Duo is definitely one of the apps, and several T-Mobile apps (I'm on TMO) as well as some others. I opted out and don't have any TMO apps.
Just like the above comment, it's in your 'additional-apps' section of the initial setup. If you uncheck? It doesn't install.

Yep. This. If the app(s) are installed it's because you let the setup install them. They (Google/T-Mobile) didn't install them on the phone without your consent. You just missed where you have the option to not install them.

Well, that must be how it was done - anyway, the app is gone now, all by itself, so it appears to be yes, an undetectable silent install of an undelete-able "system app", but it seems that once you are verified as "unlocked", it self-deletes.
But I got nothing but the "unlocker", no Duo installed for me. (I like Google Authenticator - 2FA without anything else to carry, and SIM-swap-proof).
So this was the paternalistic Google trying to be helpful, but creeping people out yet again with their presumptuousness.

I think I had to disable TMO apps during setup on my PH-1. I'm sure that Google has agreements with the carriers who offer the device. Even (esp?) when the device comes straight from Google.
And yes, stock ROM.

Nfc not working at all

Is anybody facing problems with NFC? I am on pure stock(ASJ2) with no root or something similar.
Is there a solution?

i try everything except hard reset. not working , not even the icon dont appear at status bar
if you go into Settings/Connections do you have NFC and payment ? Do you have Goodlock and QuicStart installed, as the latter be used to hide/display icons?
The NFC icon never shows but it's still working here as long as it's enabled (notification panel or in settings).

Of course. I am using NFC payments for some years. I know what to do. I used it on my note 8- S9-mate 20 Pro. All working perfectly. Now I have my card linked, NFC, android beam on but still don't work

There are only 2 things you can try
1. Do a factory reset
2. You have a hardware defect, and need your unit to get replaces

The only thing I have done is to unlock OEM. nothing else. I don't know if this is the problem

Is android beem still working on yours? (on mine it still works and can pass eg pics frome n10+ to note 4 with no problems) but nothing when tapping an nfc tag

I have the same problem. I used to validate my bus card with an app on my phone, and it worked like magic; but now my phone doesn't recognize the card. I was curious if the problem was the card, so I tried to validate it with an old Galaxy I had lying around (can't remember if S4 or S5) and it worked flawlessly. I have tried a soft reset and wiping the cache to no avail, only thing left is a factory reset. Has anyone tried a factory reset? did it work? what could be causing this problem?
Also, I'm in Latin America. Could this be a lock from my provider company or a regional block?

Same problem here, my bus card is recognised on my note 4 but nothing on my note 10+,never tried a factory reset though

No luck here, just got the android 10 update 2 days ago and still the same
Activating NFC
On your Android device, tap on “Settings.”Select “Connected devices.”Select “Connection preferences.”You should see “NFC” and “Android Beam” options.Turn both of them on.
I also faced the same problem in using my samsung mote 10. It worked after I tried the above. Give it a try?

Call & Text on other devices is missing on my Tab S7+ 5G T-Mobile

I can't find call and text on other devices on my T-Mobile tab S7+, and phone app missing too.
It was good on my old Tab S6 but can't find anymore on S7....

I suspect if you have an S7/S7+ with mobile data, it has its own phone number and what not. As a result, you may not be able to call/text from another device since your device itself has its own number. I may be wrong, but that seems like the logical answer. Have you tried turning mobile data off or somehow disabling it? Maybe take the SIM card out if you can (not sure if it's an ESIM).
If the above statement isn't true, I would say factory reset it if you haven't already. If you still encounter the issue, I'd talk to Samsung/T-Mobile about it. Personally, the ability to call/text from the tablet while my phone is away is a huge selling point for me as I don't have to take out my phone much anymore.
Good luck, and let us know what happens. I'm sure there will be someone else that encounters this issue.
Was your Tab S6 a U.S. carrier version? The U.S. carriers disable not only what you're looking for but the native dialer and MMS as well. I got my Tab S7+ 5G from the EU and it has Call and Text on Other Devices. I'm using it between by Z Fold 2 and Tab S7+. It doesn't affect the Tab S7+'s ability to use it's own phone number; it just adds the option of using either device for calls and MMS.

I might be wrong on this, but the way I understand it is that the feature links the devices via Samsung Cloud. So the only device that needs a number would be the phone. It shouldn't matter whether the other devices have one or not as they should still work independently.
I know this is an old thread, but...
This feature was present on the S6 LTE version, so there should be no reason for it not to be available here. The S7 (non-plus) 5G also has this enabled on T-Mobile, so again - no good reason for the S7+ not to have it.
You are right about the Samsung account - both devices have to be logged into the same account for the feature to work.
The dialer app is present, but not able to be activated.
I have the Samsung tab S7 plus 5G by Verizon. I have a SIM card installed and the representative of Verizon that I talked to told me that it's just for data.

I haven't used Google Voice for a bit but it's it possible to have the calls FROM you to someone else appear to have your phone's number or caller ID?
I fixed this and got it fully working. Here's the thread....
