I pulled my screen off to fix an issue with my main speaker. In the process I messed up my digitizer display. I bought a replacement off ebay and it is garbage. Color does not look right, and not sharp.
Anyone have any success with a replacement screen/ digitzer that was resembled the original? Where did you purchase?
Thanks

Try cnn.cn
Hi,
I had to replace the screen on my defy once. It was a major chore. I ended up scratching the frame while prying off the screen (its stuck on with some pretty strong glue). I also had to use my own glue - I used water proof clear silicon. When I got it together, my Defy looked beat up. The silicon was too thick and I ended up cracking the frame near the screws.
I recently ordered the housing, screen from: www.cnn.cn . And while it was expensive, it came with a sticky outline that I used to easily replace the screen. I was able to discard the frame of my first defy with the nicks. The end results is that my defy looks like new, even though the back and side might have some nicks and cuts.
I think the store ships from HK. It took a while for it to arrive, but it usually does arrive. I'd recommend it.

EDIT: I just reread and you probably will just need to replace the LCD and not the Digitizer. The Digitizer is glued on to the frame but the LCD underneath is free and pushed by the mainboard to the digitizer. You do not need to replace the digitizer in order to correct the LCD issues. In anycase, the choice is yours. CNN.cn does not sell the LCD however.

Wow thanks buddy!! The digitizer is working 100%, usable. The only problem is black dead pixel even reboot to recovery mode, the black dot still can be seen in blue wordings in recovering mode. Since the changing the LCD doesn't require changing the digitizer, That save lots of money.
Heard LCD sceen has to be OEM cos compatibe may not boot up?

I would always go with oem. The lcd is buy far way more expensive than the digitizer unfortunately. Good luck.
Hey I was wondering how could I know if I need to replace the digitilizer, the LCD or both? The touch screen seems to be working (it responds as usual) the issue is that the glass is broken. The thing is that the difference is price is quite big between digitilizer and both.
Thanks!
They're fused together and almost impossible to separate without causing damage. You'll have to replace the whole LCD/digitizer assembly
If you manage to separate them (i don't recommend) then you can get the cheap digitizer. You will need a hair dryer to melt the glue between them.
I didn't try this or will try it but this method is very popular for iphones.

I've spent 6 months trying to get a proper One X screen (complete unit, LCD+Digitizer). Not one of the 7-8 screens I have tried has had the digitizer fully bonded to the LCD. Many of the replacements had defective LCDs too (contrast issues, bad backlights etc).
When I got my One X back in April (had it for a whole week before a drop from pocket height smashed the screen!), I recall that there was no gap at all between the LCD and digitizer, across the whole screen area - they were bonded completely - something proven beyond doubt when a repair company had a go at getting the broken digitizer off the LCD underneath.
Every replacement screen I have tried has had a distinct gap - the LCD and digitizer are bonded but ONLY along the edges, not across the screen surfaces. I cannot see a way they could be bonded across the entire surface either, as the gap seems to be there because the digitizer unit holds the gorilla glass approximately 1mm above the LCD surface. Even if you could bond them, it wouldn't go right to the edges.
So now I have a flawless LCD, but an air gap. Pressing on the screen (eg, when checking for the Wi-Fi hardware issue), results in a sort of "reverse bubble" - a dark area where the two surfaces come into contact. That dark area is actually how the entire screen should look, and the air gap makes the display poor in direct sunlight.
Now I could put up with it, but the Ballistic case I have (to prevent more shattered screens) forces the digitizer into contact with the LCD in the middle of the screen which looks rubbish.
Does anyone know of a source of replacement screens that aren't the crappy sort I've been getting? Or am I wrong about the air gap? I'm convinced the ones on ebay are ALL these shoddy hand-made efforts with air gaps.
In case anyone wondered - I did ask HTC about a repair, but as you may know, they wanted a ransom fee if I didn't like their quote after posting my phone to them. O2 gave a free quote, but wanted £300! Their repair centre refused to just replace the screen, and insisted on replacing the perfectly functioning mainboard too.
£300 ? thats more than the phone's price, it shouldn't cost more than £100 if they wanted to rip you

No it's not - the phone is £380 on Amazon right now (it was £400+ but the One X+ release has devalued it more quickly).
If you'd like to provide a link to somewhere offering a complete new screen for £100 or less, I would be interested. Most companies in the UK are offering replacement screens for £150 or so, fitted.
Thank you all, today I went to a local store and they changed both LCD and Digitilizer for $120 (Dollars), they kept my LCD (which was working). I think it went way cheaper than expected
Ebay item number: 320929331645
101% original screen combo + surrounding rim. Bought from there myself and I can assure, that this item is genuine. Price is a bit steep, thou.

Thanks - I also just found that over in the other thread in the General section. Finally I might have my One X back!
dropped it and the screen broke into a million pieces (again, the gorilla glass is not particularly tough).
i'm considering trying to fix it myself, and found a screen replacement on a site called vifocal
does anyone know anything about the company, or have experience buying replacement screens like this?
thanks
A friend of mine bought in China through Ebay, a screen with the digitizer to World Tradin or something like that, it cost about $ 50.
We did the screen replacement following a guide in iFixit, it was for replace the motherboard, but you can us it and when you reach the screen, it is removed after taking off the plastic frame that holds it (with care, it's fragile ). Double sided tape is needed to attach the new screen.
In YouTube you can find a guide for the screen replacement for Find 5 which can be used for reference.
It is easier than it looks.
Good luck. :good:
Hello!
My phone fell on the ground and now the display-glass is shattered.
I would like to buy only the display-glass without the display itself and go to a phone shop that they can replace it for idk like 15-20€ maybe.
I think that would be the best, because the display itself isn't broken, and i think its better then to order a 3rd-party-display (concerns about the quality of the screen).
But where can I get that? Can you provide me links please? I can't find anything...
(And if thats not available, can you recommend me a full screen replacement?)
There are plenty of sellers on Aliexpress that supply Mi A1 displays, although all come with the LCD integrated. While replacing the glass separate from the LCD panel was relatively easy in the past, modern fully laminated LCD / Glass stacks are extremely difficult to separate and reattach without damage.
I suggest you replace the display LCD as well, as the glass is laminated to the display and replacing only the digitizer will be a laborious process, often with very low success. You can buy parts from Aliexpress or other websites, and do the replacement yourself, if you feel you are up for it.
Is there any shop the can do the only screen glass replacement in the US? Not the whole digitizer
OLED displays are fused together. If you replace one, you have to replace the other, or it will look like a bubbly, disgusting mess.
