How to disable the fingerprint sensor while the screen is off?
I want to decrease the energy consumption due to the use of fingerprint sensor while the screen is off.
Thanks
Jesus christ, it's a 4000mAh battery
yes . this . also whenever i took out the phone from my pocket it always said that many fail attemp of unlock with fingerprint . about 7-10 and i have to wait fews second to unlock it
that is so annoying
i would rather turn screen on then unlock with fingerprint . that would be better

I don't have this problem, maybe because accidental touch protection in settings>display is on.

actually you can use whatever screenlock wallpaper and turn on brighten screen in face recognition settings. This feature brightens the screen illuminatemore light so it can recognize your face and then return the brightness to normal.

In direct sunlight the with auto brightness enabled the screen over saturates colours which makes the screen really visible also if the proximity sensor is covered while screen is locked and home button is pressed the screen won't turn on. Just some observations .

Woah, those are actually some neat features. The over saturation has happened to me indoors tho, and I'd just be really confused. Glad to know the logic behind now. Thank you.
I wonder though, did you notice all of these by yourself?

Never got that problem with nearly one month using it. Maybe you should review your screen lock settings.
Ok, so maybe this is an old post, but here is my problem, my A50 was unlocking on my pocket, just like mentioned on the title of this post, my problem was a human failure, I was registering only the tip of my fingerprint, meaning, anything could unlock my phone, so, I made a fresh recording of my fingerprint respecting all the positions, and now I can't unlock from my pocket or using a fabric between my finger and the screen, and no, I didn't have face recognition enabled
I have tried all possible combinations (with or without blue light filter, in pocket and outside, over and without fabric, in dark and light, etc.) and I have never been able to unlock the device with an unregistered fingerprint. Problems with unlocking do be wet, dirty or greasy finger but nothing else. And otherwise the fingerprint sensor behaves perfectly after all the recent updates, I have nothing to complain about. do you have the charging issue from october update? and also any network/wifi issues?
Hey there..
I've had the phone for a few weeks and like most of you I wasn't satisfied with the performance of the fingerprint sensor. After tying all the how-to and walk-through guides to no avail, I decided to give something a try and to my surprise the FP sensor is working flawlessly.
So, here is how;
While registering your finger, touch the sensor as Lightly as possible and keep moving it around till it's registered. While unblocking the phone don't press too hard on the sensor area, use the same light touch that you used to register your finger.
It's been working like a charm without the dreadful 'no match' error for over 10 days.
Hope this helps.
Too much theories, everyone say its, but this phone needs software upgrade indeed.

Give this one a try. :good:
I'll give it a try. Thanks.
I also hate the fact that this phone let's you register only 3 fingerprints.
No way
All the same for me. When you using FP for a continuous time (a couple of a continuous opening) it's working like a charm, but after a "hour" of a rest all problems comes again
That's the truth from me.

Got it now
Since April Update the fingerprint sensor is a bit better but still needs improvement.
I found two things:
1) We got the habit to just touch the sensor and it unlocks rapidly with our previous phones with normal sensor. The fact is that is when you put you finger on the screen we tend to remove it rapidly or to put too much pressure that the sensor cannot read it. That is my personal findings.
2) Found a post on XDA A50 section but unable to find it now but the trick works for me. When you are registering your fingerprint as example fingerprint 1 put the same thumb from left and right hand each time. Example your percentage registration is 15% your put your right thumb as soon as it increases you put the left thumb and so on until it complete registration. You can use all the three slots with doing so and it increases the responsiveness of the sensor while unlocking. I used only two slots since my girlfriend uses one on my phone and it works very well.
Have a try and let me know.

Here some tricks to try for FP speeding up.
As 1st, dlete all entered finger prints. After that lower the phone light at minimum (Adaptive Brightness keep ON and slider set to minimum).
As 2nd, form a three fingerprints with only one finger frequently used with such so light screen touching.
As 3rd, return to Adaptive Brightness and OFF/ON it on button.
After that my FP sensor react as a charm in any case. I don't use AOD. Just lock screen.
But i have made som goodness with my wish picture as a lock screen. I have made a light white circle with the dimension and a positin like a FP sensor so it helping me to light the FP area
Here is my picture so You can use it to form Yours own.

I couldn't understand what you said in step 2 and 3. Can you please explain?
2nd: Add 3 FP but every FP with the same finger from various angles and just a soft, soft screen touching (not hard pressing) with Brightnes seted to min
3rd: After FP entering, go to Adaptive Brightness and turn it off and on to set the auto brightness vslue.
That's it.

Yes, I used your wallpaper. Kudos to you for coming up with such an innovative idea. But my FP sensor works the same with other wallpapers also. Not much gain in speed.
Hello, i wanted to know if there is any possible way yet to enable the fingerprint scan to be always on? Sometimes i just dont want to tap the screen once to get to the fingerprint panel.
You know you dont need to tap the screen before using it right? Just put your finger on it.

I wouldn't recommend you to use any such method. If you will always keep on the area of fingerprint sensor then it will lead less battery and pixel burning issues.

True that.
Think they set a bad FP position maybe. Could be at a middle of the screen or somwhere higer than it is now. When i use my phone with one/left palm i am thinking i'm gonna drop it...

It means that you are connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network.
When you connect to a 5GHz Wifi, the "4" changes to "5".

As it was in Pie, fingerprint is back to normal.
1. Fingerprint appears even when screen is off.
2. No difference in speed.

Sorry if I sounded confusing.
What I meant by Point 1 was that despite the update and fingerprint working.
Many of my peers said the option to show fingerprint location on lockscreen wasn't working.
In my case fingerprint appeared both when my screen was on and off.

I've received today March security patch in Android 9.
Size: 93.7MB

Bugs
I'm still bothered by the fact that I can't change media volume when the screen is locked.
Is the proximity sensor fixed yet? I keep accidentally triggerrimg flashlight and DND mode.
Also I don't think I'll ever get the A10 update. They're so slow. This might be the last xiaomi A1 phone I buy. Or any xiaomi phone. Where to report bugs?
This is an joke

To change the media volume with locked screen, it must be turned off - disable showing fingerprint icon and it'll work just fine. I'm using it since I bought the phone.
Proximity sensor works fine, you just need to "learn" how to use the phone - when calling, put it against your ear at angle with the top edge first, this will trigger the proximity sensor. Then push it against your ear.
To report bugs, use Feedback app from system settings.
Other phones do not need any special usage procedures, proximity sensor just works, but in A3 it is screwed.
Got this today
