In direct sunlight the with auto brightness enabled the screen over saturates colours which makes the screen really visible also if the proximity sensor is covered while screen is locked and home button is pressed the screen won't turn on. Just some observations .

Woah, those are actually some neat features. The over saturation has happened to me indoors tho, and I'd just be really confused. Glad to know the logic behind now. Thank you.
I wonder though, did you notice all of these by yourself?

Smart screen question

I turned on the smart screen feature, and I haven't actually seen it work except for on the lockscreen. On the lockscreen after a few seconds I do see an icon with an eye appear and then the screen turns off. Is this feature only intended to work on the lockscreen?
Mine works all the time

I see the icon pop on the status bar all the time but fail to see if its indicative of the screen actually staying on. Sometimes I'm looking away and see the icon pop up. I guess it just tracks your head.
If you wear glasses, it doesn't work the greatest. I'm assuming light reflection, glare or whatever from the lens. It works with some extra effort tho.
I ended up disabling it. In dark rooms it would turn off the screen when I was looking at it.
I disabled it too. I've seen the eye thing pop up right before the screen shutting off, so I think it shows up when this option is on and it hasn't noticed you looking at it. However, I've had a lot of times where the screen refuses to shut off when I put the phone down lying face up, even though my face is not in view. It just doesn't seem to work well at all.

I guess that's why it hasn't worked for me, you say it worked with some extra effort though. Apart from (IMHO) a feature like this shouldn't require effort, what did you do - or do you mean that without glasses it worked?

It depends how you hold the device, if there's glare from your glasses and whatever lighting situation there is for it to not scan your eye properly. But in most overhead lighting it works with no problem.

The icon appears only sometimes, mostly when I'm in a bright room, similar to face detection on the camera won't work if it's too dark.
When the icon does appear, it keeps my display on. Though it hardly comes up. Where about's is the setting for the feature? I'm going to take a stab in the dark and guess it would help on battery drain if it was turned off. Minimal difference but some effect, no?

[Q] Dimming Screen with Palm Not Working?

Anybody else having issues when placing your palm over the screen to dim it? It should turn the screen off and vibrate. I think I only saw that happen once, but I can't seem to get that to work.
Can somebody try it and tell me if it works for you all the time, some of the time, or rarely to never?
Thanks.
I got it working if I turn off the ambient screen setting on the device. You can also use the button too.

Yup, I tried with both, ambient screen on and ambient screen off. No luck. Yeah, I guess I'll just have to use the button, seems faster anyway, or wait until it turns itself off. I guess I was just concerned my ambient light sensor might be defective, haven't had the chance to see if auto-brightness works correctly since it has been raining and cloudy outside and light indoors generally keeps it mid-brightness.

Did you go to the android wear app and turn off ambient screen? I assume so. Mine turns "off" when I either "palm" it or push the button. I left the ambient screen sensor on and it still turned off for me.
Make sure your palm is touching the screen. If you're just cupping your hand over the screen, it won't work. It's not a "oh, it just turned dark" thing, but more of a "oh, my entire surface is being touched at once" thing.

Screen always on in AMBIENT MODE

is there any way to keep screen ALWAYS ON in ambient mode ???
No, but why would you want to. It's on when you look at it.

Got the "interactive watchfaces" (LCA44B) update yesterday. Ever since then ambient screen is always on. Which really irritates me. I have to agree, no need to stay on if I'm not looking at it. Anyone with the same issue after the update?

Well explain. If Ambient Screen is on, but watch is ON EVERY time I look at it. A thing I don't understand tho, is that while it's a LCD display, it saves zero power by making half the screen black with digital clock on so many watchfaces.

I've played with ambient mode, and I can conclusively say that my watch face is not "on" EVERY time I look at it. Not even close. I work at a computer all day, if I glance down at my watch while it's in ambient mode, it isn't on. I drive, and I look at my wrist, and my watch is often NOT on. I understand that it turns on more easily and tries to anticipate hwen you're trying to look at your watch, but if you're casually glancing at the watch hoping it's on (rather than moving your wrist), it's often off. That's not ambient, it's just.... more sensitive.
As for your second question, only certain LCD technologies can leverage making "half the screen black" as a power-saving measure. Basically... most LCDs still use a single light source, so regardless of how much of the screen is black, the backlight is fully on. Some LCD technologies have the ability to turn on smaller backlights directly behind certain parts of the screen, so lighting only a small area of the screen is possible and saves a lot of power. I don't know enough about the technologies to know why, aside from cost, one would choose one over the other.

Go to android wear and settings/moto 360 and click on ambient screen on and tilt to wake screen to off. This will keep ambient on all the time. The only down side is that you will have to manually click the screen or the power button to go to full screen. I hope that helps

[ULTIMATE GUIDE] Fingerprint sensor speeding up

Hey there..
I've had the phone for a few weeks and like most of you I wasn't satisfied with the performance of the fingerprint sensor. After tying all the how-to and walk-through guides to no avail, I decided to give something a try and to my surprise the FP sensor is working flawlessly.
So, here is how;
While registering your finger, touch the sensor as Lightly as possible and keep moving it around till it's registered. While unblocking the phone don't press too hard on the sensor area, use the same light touch that you used to register your finger.
It's been working like a charm without the dreadful 'no match' error for over 10 days.
Hope this helps.
Too much theories, everyone say its, but this phone needs software upgrade indeed.

Give this one a try. :good:
I'll give it a try. Thanks.
I also hate the fact that this phone let's you register only 3 fingerprints.
No way
All the same for me. When you using FP for a continuous time (a couple of a continuous opening) it's working like a charm, but after a "hour" of a rest all problems comes again
That's the truth from me.

Got it now
Since April Update the fingerprint sensor is a bit better but still needs improvement.
I found two things:
1) We got the habit to just touch the sensor and it unlocks rapidly with our previous phones with normal sensor. The fact is that is when you put you finger on the screen we tend to remove it rapidly or to put too much pressure that the sensor cannot read it. That is my personal findings.
2) Found a post on XDA A50 section but unable to find it now but the trick works for me. When you are registering your fingerprint as example fingerprint 1 put the same thumb from left and right hand each time. Example your percentage registration is 15% your put your right thumb as soon as it increases you put the left thumb and so on until it complete registration. You can use all the three slots with doing so and it increases the responsiveness of the sensor while unlocking. I used only two slots since my girlfriend uses one on my phone and it works very well.
Have a try and let me know.

Hehe yes... I trust her so it is ok
Pay attention please.
Here some tricks to try for FP speeding up.
As 1st, dlete all entered finger prints. After that lower the phone light at minimum (Adaptive Brightness keep ON and slider set to minimum).
As 2nd, form a three fingerprints with only one finger frequently used with such so light screen touching.
As 3rd, return to Adaptive Brightness and OFF/ON it on button.
After that my FP sensor react as a charm in any case. I don't use AOD. Just lock screen.
But i have made som goodness with my wish picture as a lock screen. I have made a light white circle with the dimension and a positin like a FP sensor so it helping me to light the FP area
Here is my picture so You can use it to form Yours own.

I couldn't understand what you said in step 2 and 3. Can you please explain?
2nd: Add 3 FP but every FP with the same finger from various angles and just a soft, soft screen touching (not hard pressing) with Brightnes seted to min
3rd: After FP entering, go to Adaptive Brightness and turn it off and on to set the auto brightness vslue.
That's it.

Yes, I used your wallpaper. Kudos to you for coming up with such an innovative idea. But my FP sensor works the same with other wallpapers also. Not much gain in speed.

Disable fingerprint sensor while the screen is off.

How to disable the fingerprint sensor while the screen is off?
I want to decrease the energy consumption due to the use of fingerprint sensor while the screen is off.
Thanks
Jesus christ, it's a 4000mAh battery
yes . this . also whenever i took out the phone from my pocket it always said that many fail attemp of unlock with fingerprint . about 7-10 and i have to wait fews second to unlock it
that is so annoying
i would rather turn screen on then unlock with fingerprint . that would be better

actually you can use whatever screenlock wallpaper and turn on brighten screen in face recognition settings. This feature brightens the screen illuminatemore light so it can recognize your face and then return the brightness to normal.
