Mi A2 Lite - Root - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

Hello, I have a mi A2 lite device running Android 9.
I know that there is a way to root it using Magisk but it seems a little confusing. Is there an easier way to root the device other than this? I would happy to know your opinions and suggestions.

I'm not aware of stock root solutions that don't use Magisk...
The process is not hard. Just 2 steps.
Boot with Magisk (temporarily).
Use Magisk Manager to install Magisk.

Xposed on Mi5S

Hello Guys!
I got my brand new Xiaomi Mi5S. I have already unlocked it and installed newest rom from Xiaomi.eu
Now I wonder If I can safely Install Xposed module with all my addons? Won't that cause brick or sth?
I remember on my Xiaomi Mi Note Pro there was special modded file for Xposed.
Anyone tried?
P
No, you cant. Miui is very different from Android without mods

I got mine for 2 months now.
I installed material design xposed and install the miui x64 version from
Download from :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/material-design-xposed-installer-t3137758
If you want a cool module, I recommand the MIUI TWEAKS 8 from the play store for less than 2€
Another useful module, try xMIUI https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=software.solarwarez.xmiui
It's similar to MIUI tweaks but has a few extra features.

Hidden root

I have been using Xposed and Rootcloak to pay by phone until now. However, after installing OOS 4.0.1 rom I can't use it anymore due to there is not Xposed for Nougat yet. Regarding this issue, I wanted to ask you if anybody tried suhide 0.55 with Nougat to make payments by phone. In that case, does it work right? What's the best Supersu I have to install?

As far as I know, none of the ways that worked well before in Marshmallow can work in Nougat at the moment. I'm afraid we have to wait for now [emoji53]

On nougat ROM with everything green. Pogo works (I don't play, I just checked to give you information) Snapchat as well as android pay. Took me awhile but I got it figured out. More of a combo of a few things i read. I basically flashed my ROM, flashed suhide, flashed the new Magisk, booted up, installed phh superuser, installed Root switch, (this is important cuz this was the main reason I was getting CTS mismatch) it switched permissive mode to enforcing and back. I believe Magisk is suppose to do this as well but I couldn't figure it out or it wasn't working.
Just to be clear:
Flash ROM
Flash suHide
Flash Magisk 10.2 (I believe that is current version as of this post)
Reboot
Install phh supersu
Install Root switch
Make sure you are enforcing (by using root switch) and you should be golden.
Hope this helps.
Thanks so much for your suggestion. At this moment I'm using stock rom but I'll think about trying this method with Citrus-Caf rom ?

Does rooting break OTAs?

Hey, a friend of mine recently got his Redmi Note 5 Pro and I was wondering if I can root his phone so that I can install google camera but without loosing OTAs. If I root the device, will he be able to receive OTAs normally? He is on latest miui 9.6 stable.
Thanks in advance.

If you simply want to test gcam than u can follow this guide. i have tested it and it works on both miui 9 and 10. and doesnt break OTA. i even got updated from global 9.6 stable to 10 stable while having this and all was ok. its the safest way u can use gcam without root or anything.

No need for TWRP to root.

Thanks, but my question was the inverse: I want to root, typically I did using TWRP and flashing magisk zip. I was guessing if Magisk supports Poco F5 already.

This method is not recommended due to A/B partitions and current TWRP development for A12/13.
And root for what?

I use root for two main purposes: ad blocker in hosts (as I also use VPN service, so I don't want to keep VPN busy with ad blocker) and removal of bloatware with magisk debloater.

Xiaomi.eu ROM for 12 Turbo / Poco F5 with root is great, because one can install among others ad-block apps such as AdAway and block all ads in apps (Youtube excluded). I rooted xiaomi.eu (via magisk and "boot.img") couple of days ago and it's working great. You're right, when you wouldn't recommend rooting via TWRP and flashing magisk.zip for the reasons you mentioned in post #4 above.
Have any of you tried installing viper4android magisk?
A lot of devices are being unable to install the old viper 4 android. I know there's a 64bit version now that usually works on devices that can't install the other one. It doesn't have all of the features it's missing headphones surround sound and gain increase. Which are the two best features of the whole vipers situation. So I want to purchase a Poco F5 or F5 pro. So I am wondering if viper is working?
You'll probably have to install magisk delta canary latest build because the new magisk v26.1 won't work with viper now either. It will work if you Install viper with magisk delta and then switch to magisk official v26.1.
Normally what you do is you install the busy box module, The James DSP 4.6 module, Selinux permissive module, audio modifications library 4.2 module and the viper for Android module finally. You don't have to use the James DSP but sometimes it corrects problems in the system to get viper to work. I'm not sure how much you guys are aware so I am trying to cover everything.
Pixel 6, 7 pro it won't work on. My tab S8 plus, S22 and S23 ultra it won't work on. Pixel 7 pro with AOSP roms make it work when those are available.
