Guys is anyone still facing whatsapp idle drain issue? For me whatsapp is consuming 30% battery even on optimized setting.

Using an older version
Since the drain bug, I have been using this version : 2.19.291 from apkpure
And I haven't had the issue as such.

I used whatsapp apk from official website to fix the problem.

using the latest whatsapp version 2.19.334 on my OP7T (Indian variant) can confirm the battery drain is big !

I'm using the latest beta and it seems that it has the same issue now. Battery drain is terrible!

I was also facing similar battery drain issue but currently I am on WhatsApp Beta v2.20.195.5 and I am not facing any battery drain issue. So try switching to Beta version.

Seeing serious battery drain on version 2.20.195.15, OP 7 pro, have rolled back to the previous version....

watsapp 2.20.196.10 op7t heavy drain :crying:

yes something to do with WHatsapp and Oneplus services.

Is it only the stock rom's problem? Do CM based roms have this issue too?

Which stock rom version are you using? I found the latest .139 would not go to deep sleep, draining battery in background.

Mine went into deep sleep. Only when charging, it won't.
The problem of battery drain is LP5.0. Having said that, i have 4 hours SOT with youtube, webchat video call, 4G on when outside and wifi on when at home. About 16 hours usage. Not bad.

I'm not sure if I'm miss reading this, but my Acer tablet that has a Bay Trail Atom in it also has the "AndroidOS" issue that runs 4.4.4 and CM 12.1 has the same exact issue.
"AndroidOS" is the kernel, that is completely independent of the Android operating system in itself.

I'm having the same Android Platform battery drain issue in battery stats :
it's more relevant to install and use "Wakelock detector" to see what's really happening.
Hi everyone and stop 'fighting'.
Android OS battery drain is related to kernel. I have the same issue on both Stock and CM-based ROMs (I use BlissPop 20151125-1726 with BitO-K 002).

I need to do this too, mine drains like crazy now and it used to not. I'm on vacation in the bahamas. I have to sim in, just on wifi and I drain like 20% in an hour. I have turned things off like Bluetooth, location and so on and it hasn't helped. I uninstalled apps like Facebook in hopes to stop it but the issue remains. Just installed that battery monitoring app... Hope it will point to the culprit

[Nougat Beta] Call drops, Battery Drain

Anyone having call drop problems or one way call (usually i can hear but the other side can't)?
Also standby mode is great but using it causes huge Battery drain...
Anyone with the above said problems or with any solutions?
No call dropping, but did have battery drain. Switched from Chrome to Chrome Beta and things seem better.
report all issues to the feedback app in the beta
Yes,metoo on the battery drain ussie. No issues during calls though.
So far I haven't noticed any drain, in fact, sleep is better than ever for me.
The thing that I have noticed is that battery percentage goes downhill like crazy during games and when using Camera.
Much more than it used to on MM.

I have the same impression
I faced/ still facing battery drain issues during sleep in all the betas with the stock kernel. Custom kernal (EX) provided more feedback in this regard ... waiting for a custom kernel to be available for Nougat OOS.
ThanX Guys...Maybe the call problem might be my networks...but I use 2 SIMs from different network...both have the same problem...will try flashing nougat again
Had problem with draining battery, wiped data system cache dalvik and flashed cb8 again and it works just fine now.
No issues here battery life is better to MM

Battery Life

So I have been having problems with battery life for a month of so. I had google call me today from the support setting. They had me put the phone in safe mode to see if that would help. It seems to have fixed my problem. Its only been about 5 hours but it would seem that my battery is holding way better then I have seen in a while.
Is there a good app to see what may be may battery drain cause? I have taken my phone out of safe mode and uninstalled some apps in hope of finding the problem one.
Am I missing something else here? If I get good battery life in safe mode it's more then likely an app doing it?
Thanks
Maybe Gsam battery monitor in store...
Some stuff you can check in Android here

Yeah that's one of the best. If you're not rooted make sure you read the third op. It will tell you tell to how to adb so you get the proper stats.

So Google tech I think lead me in the right direction. I solved my battery problem and my blue tooth problem. It is SO much better. I was note was using handcent next SMS. I left it off and started reinstalling apps. With out it installed, My phone is working better then it has in a long time.
So in 5 hours of lite use I still have 83% left. yesterday it would have been 40%. 1 bad app causing all that problem

Extreme battery drain and heating

I can't figure out what is causing this but my phone is losing battery quickly and when I check battery setting it is some app or the other at the top of the battery consuming app-list. If I remove (uninstall) the top app from the phone, another takes it place. I removed 10 such apps and now it's WhatsApp and Chrome who are doing the honors. What is happening to my phone? As I type, the phone is heating considerably. I have just restarted it and only WhatsApp and XDA app is running in the background.
Edit: The heating and battery drain only happens when the screen is active. When the phone is locked, it no longer remains hot and battery drain also subsides.

Batter drain
Hi, since past few weeks my phone's battery is draining like anything. Strangely the built in app ContactsStorage is showing on top of the battery eating apps, can anyone please help me understand what this app is and why it is eating up battery the most. See the screenshot attached. Please help me with the solution.

Hi,
I am facing this issue too from last 2-3 days. Have used greenify to kill apps that seem to use battery but that has been of no help. I only keep my mobile data on and rest all - wifi, gps, auto brightness, screen rotate etc. are switched off. Still battery drain happening and phone is heating on normal usage (No games or heavy apps used - just messaging and whatsapp). I have also noticed that the fast charge is not really charging the phone as quickly as it used to earlier. If anyone finds a solution do post it here.
Not looking at a factory resetting the phone as I do not have the entire backup of my phone.

Try turning off the auto sync for the accounts that you don't use often.

Any solution for this? Is factory reset really solving the issue. Any response would really be helpful.

Hi,
I never use auto-sync - its always off. Also, I have kept the resolution as FHD since beginning. However, facing this issue suddenly.

You should try a factory reset then.

You can try this alternative solution:
Go to settings > Apps > Hit the "Plus" or "more" dots button > Reset by default
It might help to fix and reset everything for each single app in terms of notifications, datas, permissions, specific actions linked to your apps.
Give it a try and let's see what happened for you guys, and it won't delete anything in your phone, no worries,
