Guys,
Have you noticed huge battery consumption with CM 10.1 Unofficial ROM on E-980? I used to get 2 complete days on stock, but now I have to recharge my phone every night, no exception.
The biggest battery hogger is Android OS which consumes more than 50%. This is the original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387499&page=1.
Please let me know if any one of you have any solution.
Thanks!

Do yourself a favor and install Better Battery Stats. Then after a day of usage look into your Kernel Wake Locks and Partial Wake Locks. That'll give you a much better idea of what's draining your battery.

I just have installed it and will check it out in 24 hrs.
Meanwhile I wanted to know whether anyone else faced the same problem?

Quite a few of us had battery drain issues related to baseband. If you had installed the Value Pack update prior to installing CM you'd have the baseband which causes a lot of grief. Check the 10.1 thread. @madmack posted about what baseband you should have installed to stop the deep sleep issues.
Worked!

WOW, Thanks for your tip! As you suggested, I installed the model, and my phone is back to normal in battery consumption. Thanks!
I didn't notice this earlier, but my video recording doesn't work. Photos are coming properly, but as soon as I start shooting a video, my camera hangs. Even if I close it, I can't start it again until I restart my phone.
Can someone please help me?
Hi Guys,
i have a bit of a problem with the battery in my GNex maguro.
I'm an avid Rom flasher, but when i have something that works well i usually settle with it for a while. So i flashed Cataclysm (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995801) sometime in the last months and it was running great. Best bettery life i had so far.
Then with the release of Android 4.4 i looked for a rom to test it. I flashed XP (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539201) and i really like the 4.4 changes.
But since then my battery won't even last a day in standby mode. I thought maybe it's an issue with 4.4. still, but even after flashing back to Cataclysm (newest release) i still had the same issues. I thought it may well be, that the final version isn't what it used to be, so i flashed another rom again. This time Purity (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012706) aaaand... still the same problem. So now i'm pretty much lost. I also tried different kernels (lean kernel specifically) but to no avail.
My battery used to last 2+ days in idle mode. Now i can see my battery drop every minute. It barely holds over 10 hours. I already did a full phone wipe and flashed back to stock before installing cataclysm again but still no improvement.
I hope someone can help me here or point in the right direction.
Sorry if this topic already exists, but the search funtion doesn't seem to work right now and google didn't show something helpfull.
Thank you all in advance.
I don't know why you would still have bad battery life moving back to the original rom you used but.. on 4.4 it is most likely the new Google Now features that constantly listen for voice commands. Disable it by long pressing on an empty part of the home screen and go to settings. Slide Google Now Off and go to voice and turn off hotword detection as well.
I get great standby battery life on 4.4. I'm running the 11/29 ART build of cmetal(toro), 150ish hours of uptime without any issues so far.
Re: Bad Battery Life since KK
What kernel are you running? Are you just using whatever kernels come with each ROM?
I'll try turning off google now and the voice stuff and report back.
It still seems really weird to me, that the problem still persists after flashing back to 4.3. My guess would be, that 4.4 flashes something hidden that messes with the battery. But i don't know where or what.
Especially since it persists after a complete wipe (/data, /system and /cache).
Well, i'll see how it behaves without google now.

Well i used mostly lean Kernel with 4.3 roms but i can't find any 4.4 kerneles besides CM. I have XP installed right know which uses CM Kernel.
Re:Bad Battery
Make sure your governor is set to interactive or ondemand...it could be seeing power drain from being set to one of the performance settings.
It's also possible that your battery is just going bad...do you have a backup battery you can try?

It could just be that you need to replace your battery. They are only good for so many charges and do degrade.

Reporting back. After deactivating google now yesterday my battery is still ****. It's at 50% after 2h idle and 30 minutes screentime. Before the 4.4 flash it would be at around ~85-90% now. I suspect that 4.4 flashes something in some hidden partition that i don't have access to, that messes with the battery. Users on other boards report the same issues as i have.

Could be, of course. But it's kinda weird that the decline is so dramatic and it has to be a pretty big coincidence that it just happend after a 4.4 flash. Seems unlikely to me.
edit: I'll order a new battery just to eliminate the battery as the source of error.

Same problem here. Since I flashed Kitkat on my phone, battery life isn't enough to last a day on standby. I tried installing another kernel (ASKP) but to no avail. Please keep in mind that I'm not very experienced with custom roms and rooting my phone. Does anyone have some good tips to improve battery life?
Update: After fiddling around a bit with better battery stats, greenify and a bunch of other stuff... i still don't have a solution. I made some screenshots of my stats, but can't post them here because i don't have permission to do that...
So i reflashed swordrune's cm11 rom and it seems to be working better with 1080p kernel w/o art enabled. i'm 11 hrs in with 80% battery on the extended battery (toro btw)

usually gnex can handle 3-4 hour screen on depend on battery condition n phone performance... not include idle n stanby time.

Not to hijack your thread, but I'm also experiencing battery issues after flashing the XP 4.4 rom. I did enjoy it but the battery drain was terrible. Not only that, for some reason my charger drains on a 1A charger but charges slowly on a .7A somehow. I only have 1 micro usb cable so I can't test if it's the cable and I can't find any apps to check the current speed. I tried downgrading and flashing to Slimbean but so far it's been no dice.

Ok, back again. hibernated every app and system-app that was running in background. Still wasn't getting better. I then saw the only services still running are google location services. I deactivated them now to see if these are causing it.
The biggest wakelocks i have are "wlan_rx_wake" which seem to be a known problem with KK:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2519294
I then researched again and found several threads in google groups which describe the same problems that i have. Across several devices (though mostly Nexus 4, 5 and 7).
Google seems to be aware of that issue and is working on it.

Yes, same for me. Charging is really slow since 4.4 as is the bootprocess of my phone. From the first vibrate when switching the phone on it takes ~10 seconds until the google logo pops up.
i dont know any about gapps issues bcoz not running any gapps in my phone since last year.
1. try searching for updated radio.img (baseband/ radio) if got any network issue.
2. try install trickster mod app. this app can help you for tweaking into deep sleep, also help for optimizing.

Hello All
I recently flashed the CM12 release of Lollipop on my rooted LG Optimus G Pro E980.
Everything works fine. However, the battery drain due to msm_hsic_host is confusing to say the least.
This is supposed to be mobile network related, and I have read forums where people say that this goes away when the mobile network is shut. However, for me, I am at home and only using WiFi. The mobile data is OFF.
I went to sleep for about 8 hours and I woke up to find msm_hsic_host had using about 80% and the phone was only in deep sleep for less than 1% of the time.
The phone NEVER goes into deep sleep. Deep sleep contribution is only about 1% ! Why is this happening?
Also, NOTE that the CPU Frequency stays at 384 MHz for 90% of the time! In the picture, it shows as 69% because it was taken a few minutes after a reboot. What does this mean?
Battery Kernel wakeock screenshot: http://postimg.org/image/k6s0gl5s7/
Battery System Monitor screenshot: http://postimg.org/image/tq1pa1taf/
I have already hibernated Facebook, Skype, and another networking app. I am just lost. Why is the msm_hsic_host wakelock ON about 80% of the time?
Have you tried to disable google location services by setting it to GPS only? Disabling all sync? Also, try another CM build, or BlissPop.

Hi, Location Services was off. I turned off Sync and after 4.5 hours, msm_hsic_host is still at 87%.
My mobile data is off.
How to solve this?
To future readers;
I went back to my STOCK ROM on LG Optimus G Pro (LG E980 - Android 4.4.2) just to test this and the most remarkable thing happened.
The phone is mostly on Deep Sleep and msm_hsic_host is in 1%.
Therefore, I can conclude that the battery drain is a serious issue in CM12 (Android 5.0.2) ROM. Could some developers please take a look at this issue?
Here is the proof
Kernel Wakelock: http://postimg.org/image/e954b9kt5/
System Monitor: http://postimg.org/image/cstlt4hw9/
I am about to try Blisspop ROM 5.1 for LG E980 next to see if this issue persists.
I installed Blisspop 3.6 now (Android 5.1.1) - However, following the exact same steps for installing BetterBatteryStats v 2.1 - it just wont't work.
It says, successfully installed as System App. Please reboot.
After reboot, the app says, "This is a companion app to BetterBatteryStats. It was copied to /system and stays there to grant permissions that can only be granted to system apps. This app has no functionality at all. You may need to reinstall BBS to get access to the app."
I even uninstalled and reinstalled using the recovery ZIP.
Has anyone tested BetterBatteryStats ob BLISSPOP 3.6? Please help.
Regards
Have you installed mad Mack's modem? Battery drain is a major issue for lp5.0.2, reason why Google releases 5.1.1 to fix the battery drain problem. However, 5.1.1 is may be only slightly improves the battery life. If you can get your service to deep sleep, then at least you can conserve some juice and keep it cool. Otherwise your phone is going to stay hot most of the time.

I have installed 5.1.1 with BLISSPOP 3.6. However, still the phone only gets to deep sleep 2% of the time. In my stock ROM (4.4.2), the deep sleep was on 80% of the time. I don't know why this is happening. This is very bad.
Could you please point me to "mad Mack's modem"? Which one to flash? Where is the link? Should this be done after installing Lollipop?
Even worse now BetterBatteryStats apk does not install on 5.1.1 Blisspop.

Unresolved
To future readers;
I finally managed to install Better Battery Stats and unsurprisingly, msm_hsic_host still dominates. 70%.
System deep sleep is about 2% of the time.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Check out page 1, it has some interesting tips on how to make your device go into the deep sleep. The link to madmack's modem is also in there. But before you begin, is your device e980? That modern is only intended for e980. So if you have something else, don't flash it.

I've done everything there. The modem in that thread is for CM10.2 and CM11 and the whole post is from 2014. Do you think it's normal to expect that to be compatible with the latest Blisspop ROM?
It works with cm12.x as well, I have seen many other cm12.x people use it as proof. Read the blisspop thread if you need verification. Though I have been told that it's optional on cm12 if your device can get deep sleep without it. As for me, it made my phone got that deep sleep I needed when I was using bp3.6.
Hi, does anyone know what this wakelock is and how can i stop it? As you can see the app does not see it as a big problem because of 16s time bit number of wakeups is worrying - more than 4000..
You hardly find anything about that on the internet
Yeah, i hardly found anything about it too. But i was hoping somebody was dealing with similiar wakelock.

Probably not.
They are most of the time not responsible for the Wakelocks but the first thing that's happening After awakening.
Also EVERYONE has them! No kidding!

Is it safe to block them in amplify? Or should I leave then untouched?
Power Nap [Xposed Module] also blocks them. But it doesn't matter. Because they do not wake the phone, they happen when the phone gets awaken by something else.
Check this out (With Power Nap enabled and What's app excluded)
As you can see, almost no Userspace Wakelocks:
As always Google Services is the only thing you simply cannot shut up, no matter what
But yeah, the Problem is on the Kernel Level....
You see a Normal Wake due to an UserSpace Wakelock:
And one that's happening due to Kernel:
So as long as you have these Kernel wakes, the BatteryServiceUpdateStats_3 will activate at the same time. Batterylife itself is not really affected.

I started getting the BatteryServiceUpdateStats_3 wakelock a few days ago, tried different kernels and factory reset and no joy getting rid of it. It is affecting my battery life big time.
My phone stays awake and is draining at 7% per hour with the screen off. Lucky to be getting 7 hours of use out of it in a day with light usage...
So basically you are saying that an app is responsible for this?
I have this SAME EXACT wakelock and problem. I have researched it endlessly with 0 luck at all. This has been an issue regardless of running marshmallow or N, a different kernel, a different ROM, etc. This wakelock on top of the 10's horrible WiFi makes my battery life absolutely terrible. If I can't fix this within 2 months (when I reach a year paid off on my payment plan) I am selling this phone and upgrading because the battery life it so intolerable. Keep your WiFi turned off on your 10 and watch how much you standby drain improves lol...It's a faulty WiFi setup in the 10. I don't think it's software related either. I heard it's the physical placement of the WiFi antennae from @LeeDroid

Hello Everyone,
So from last week I have tried 5-6 different nougat ROMs (OSS Open beta 9/10, Official RR, RR by Eliminator)
am getting very bad battery drain like 18% per hour while phone idle. Also, Phone is warm to touch.
I tried to switch back to ext4 format that didn't help.
Also, I have no apps installed, no sim card, I did use SuperSU 2.79 with OSS.
I formatted data partition before installing every ROM
But somehow with EmotionOS I am getting good battery life and only 0.29% battery drain while idle.
Edit: I'm getting same results with CM13.

1. It is still a known issue. OnePlus will release a newer update (v4.0.2) the following week.
2. Of course, it wouldn't help. The only thing that F2FS has an advantage over EXT4 is slightly better read and write speeds (if I'm not wrong).
3. Use stable SuperSU v2.79 only. SR1 and SR2 are known to be battery drainers. Even though, they are not the real cause for it.
4. Some users it help and for some it didn't.
P.S. continue using EmotionOS or Freedom OS (I currently use) to get good battery life for now.

It's worse than (Freedom OS v1.7 - based on OOS v3.2.8) which I had 6-7 hours of SOT.
But, let him decide the right ROM for him (no offense though). Maybe he wanted to test them all, I don't know.
Nougat is not very stable at all right now. I'm waiting for OOS v4.0.2 the following week. I hope it fixes 95% of the problems users experience.
Clean install and see if the issue persists without any apps installed.
Hi ! For me too. But I have a good deep sleep It's just when I use it System Android drain to much Battery same % screen on ?
I stay the new 4.0.2
Don't use official Facebook & Facebook Messenger apps
They stay open in the background and use up system resources

How can you accurately judge battery life if you change between 5-6 roms in one week.

Go back to full unrooted stock, use the phone for 3-4 full cycles without any apps installed.
If it's still there, RMA it.

Yes, deep sleep is working
NLP and NLP collector still keeping phone awake 24/7 even when a reboot is done after charging
You guys that do not do clean installs are the ones that generally have problems from old residual data that can cause a variety of issues. However, if you do a clean install, you will find that many of these problems go away. It helps to use the roms the way they were designed and used in the lab. I always wipe everything and do a totally clean install and I had never had these problems.

Normal users do OTA updates all the time, which are the norm - that's not a clean install, and it is how they were designed.
Same here Android OS and system drain is very high

It is also the majority of these people that have problems. Why do you think the number one response to troubleshooting any device is to a factory reset? That is because it wipes old data.

Majority of these people? No, it's both normal and power users.
Number one response? Sure, number one response from / to those not willing to do any research to figure out and address the problem.
Not a real solution.
