Does that mean we're getting it this year?
Article says no guarantee.

Take everything with a grain of salt. Mobile tech news when it comes to stuff like this is based on speculation from past trends. Two things to keep in mind, they will recycle the same stories every year because really it's about page visits and adrev. Not providing useful info. If anything they will be happy to come back and update because it means another visit.
The other part of that is that the software won't hit every region at the same time. So maybe someone gets it in December but then another region doesn't see it until Jan. Example being the bug in the beta that was locking people put of their devices. That delayed builds dropping in other regions until that was fixed.
I'm thinking more like January sometime maybe early February but again that is pure speculation. I believe it was January last year when Pie started rolling out to the flagships. I had the S9+ at the time.
I HIGHLY doubt the carriers will roll out this year. I would expect late Feb/Early Mar for US carriers. The betas haven't even hit them as of yet

The beta probably won't hit the carriers if the note 9 is any indication.
Considering the s10 beta came out Oct 14th and it's still on beta til now then I would doubt note 10 will be out of beta by the end of the year. Note 10 beta started Nov 13th for the US unlocked.

I think the stable 10 will be seeded after S11 goes out, so the S11 will be the first device using android 10

That makes zero sense....the entire thing from the CPU to the 5G modem is made by Samsung....

I know. You'd have thought they'd extend it to the 5g models too
S10 got the stable release today, it seems that we're getting it sooner than we expected
not really entirely different bugs on our beta, January earliest
It is confirmed that note 10 and 10+ will get android 10 worldwide sometime on January

Stable final build should be ready-ish, if they release in January it's for the Christmas holidays or some unforseen bug

Just thought I'd throw this out there because the 1+3 is my first 1+. Can anyone with past 1+ experience give me an idea of first, whether we should expect to get Nougat, and second, if we can expect it, how long after the initial release will it be released for us?
Well, I meant to post this in Q&A, but I guess discussion works too.
Judging by the 1+2, yes, half a year after N goes official.
But who knows, maybe they improved, we got a quick RAM and display fix after all, so I'll say it'll land on january 17th 2017.

It's not like my post was even lengthy...
Official update for sure takes months. But i hope CM and AOSP brings us a (more or less stable) N beta some weeks after the launch. So maybe for christmas this year.
Thanks Hatshipuh and Tiz92. That seems like a reasonable time frame.
Oh, and extra points to Hatshipuh for an exact date estimate!

Well said. Wasn't there a pic floating around of the op3 running a preview N? I remember seeing it somewhere online bit I didn't care coz I never thought I would buy this phone at the time.
It was a fake. There were "0"s with different fonts.
History is a cyclic phenomenom.
At each new Android version the same threads, with the same answers: we don't know.
The correct answer is: When it's done. And sooner for custom roms.

Come back to future bro, lol
It's better to not count on getting Android N.
And even if it comes, there is a probability that certain things in a N update will be annoying or worse than on Marshmallow so that many users will prefer to not update to N.
But that is OK - on my LG G2 which I used for 2.5 years I still have Android 4.4. And it works, so what?
I heard that Android Nougat will be "6.1". Is it true?

No, it will be 7.0
I don't pin my hopes high of getting android N anytime sooner than 1 year. I will be relying on custom ROMs. The only thing i will be missing is camera quality. Photos on custom ROMs just don't match with what i can get with stock. Hopefully we get alternative.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
android n for one plus 3 ? in Feb-March 2017 , they have a history of slow updates. best to assume more time to avoid horrible disappointment lol . but who will stay on stock for so long ? i just hope the op3 gets a cam mod that makes us utilize the slow mo video recordings in aosp/cm roms.. then id go ahead.
General Mobile posted on Facebook yesterday. The update will be available for GM 6/6D and GM 5 Plus/D. Here you can see all the new features coming with this update.
Looking at the official post from Google, the update will arrive by the end of this year.
Great news. I will ditch alcatel idol 4 in toilet and buy gm 5 plus
Update: I think they'll release the update in feb 27th according to Facebook page news.

obligatory update; it's 28th of february, the update still hasn't rolled out yet.
their twitter and whatsapp accounts are not giving any satisfying replies as well, they are saying something similar to "we are working every second for our customers convenience"

I think our last hope is March update which will be rolled out about 2 weeks. On the other hand, phone's update sequence will be end in 2 months.
Btw I think this delay is not a coincidence, they did it on purpose to not give 8.1 to GM 5 plus users.
Yeah they will never release the update... Just like they didn't release updates for general mobile 5.

This is fantastic news. I'm going to get go of my Alcatel idol 4 and replace it with a GM 5 Plus.
It looks the situation is all set to change soon as Samsung is gearing up to roll out the Android Oreo update to the Galaxy A8 and A8+. The company has received WiFi certification for these devices with Android 8.0 onboard, hinting that the rollout is around the corner. Certification is one of the few final steps before the release of a new update, so this is a good sign that these handsets will get Oreo sooner rather than later.
Samsung is yet to reveal a roadmap for releasing the said update for the 2018 Galaxy A8 and A8+. It should only be a matter of time now, though, as the company will be updating other mid-range handsets in the coming months and it would almost certainly update the newer and pricier Galaxy A8/A8+ to Oreo before moving further down its smartphone lineup.
Update : Seems like A8+ got Bluetooth Certificate as well , watch this space for confirmation.

Got that oreo update finally , thankyou.
The google now launcher is not compatible with this version as it says on play store, could you help me with that?
I've had this phone for just a couple of weeks now and when I check for updates it says I'm up to date. It's running 9.1.0.320 with the August security patch. Even my cheap honor phone is more recent on the September patch.
Are many others still on August, or has my IMEI fallen off of Huawei's radar?
I'm on the October patch, running 9.1.0.347 on the C636. If you're in the US you might need to get a foreign SIM card to get updates. I didn't get updates for months until I got one.

Good question. I'm in the UK and bought the phone here. When I first got it a couple of updates came to through. Now it won't move forward from August. This is the problem with Huawei. Their update schedule sucks.
I'm in the UK with a C432 and I'm still on August patches as well. Pretty disappointing really but Huawei has always been the same. My Mate 10 Pro sometimes went 5 to 6 months without getting an update.

Indeed. Question remains though, why do some phones get left behind with updates. Trump should ban them for this alone! ?

True, but again Huawei do it very well in my opinion, if we think about the Trumpistan ban I don't think anyone else in the whole world, could survive such a massive attack.

Honor is banned too but pushing out updates faster than ever! Nothing to do with the trump situation, it's seems like more piss poor management.
