Redmi Note 8 Pro Bluetooth Issues? - Redmi Note 8 Pro Questions & Answers

I have been facing issues with Bluetooth on my device. I am using a wireless earphone that has the latest Bluetooth version 5.0 and whenever I call anyone the audio is not audible or distortion is heard on the other end also this happens randomly and range what I used to get on my note 7 pro is reduced. However, I haven't faced any such issue in other devices while using the same earphone.
Anyone else getting this problem. Please let me know if I can do anything to any fix the issue.

Same problem here.
I thought it was the earphone(jvc) but same distorsion on other earphone(pioneer).

yes same here. i use jbl reflect mini 2 and i have constant interruptions when talking. very frustrating. could this be only software?

I use Pamu Scroll, Pamu Slide, Redmi Airdots and i have constant interruptions. One earphone disconnect and i've to turn it down and reconnect tu use it again. Pretty terrible Bluetooth issue.

with another new pair of headset same constant interruptions when talking

Xiaomi we need an update to fix this.

no news, bad news?

Yesterday I received an upgrade.
I will let you know if it changes something.

Try disabling absolute volume in the developer menu if you haven't already.

Same problem here with Xiaomi Necband headset. I tried with 2 sets and same issue. I can listen, there is no problem with audio apps, but when talking there are some problems.
I also tried change bluetooth Latency to long and Bluetooth Playback Quality to connection quality. It works for a while but than it doesn't.
If someone has some other tips & tricks pls share

all good with the new android 10

[Solved] Blutooth 4.0 Comapitbilty issue.

[SOLUTION IN THIS POST]
There seems to be a compatibility issue with the new Bluetooth 4.0 of my HOX when pairing with some devices that have BT 3.0 version.
My own issue is with the Car Audio System of my 2008 C350 Mercedes Benz. The Bluetooth telephony worked perfectly with my DHD.
Now, I can pair my HOX with the system, but when I receive a call I can hear the other party only for 2 seconds then the voice is gone. As if we've both muted the call.
On the other hand, when I call someone, the phone call goes through just fine.
I've been reading a lot concerning this subject, and it seems that people are having the same problem with their SGIII.
A software update of the SGIII that was released for some carriers seems to have fixed the issue.
Also, my sister's iPhone 4S works fine with the system, even though it has BT 4.0.
So I believe this issue can be fixed, but it needs one of the Gurus on XDA to come up with a fix
My issue was slightly different (phone would pair but not connect) and I got onto my car kit manufacturer (in this case was a parrot system used in a mitsubishi) and found out I could update that. Since updating my car kit have had no problems at all.
That's good to hear. I read somewhere that updating the car system could be a solution.
But I'm hoping a solution could be made on the phone's side.

there might be nothing wrong on the phones side, have you checked to see if you can update your devices that are having problems as suggested?
i've had no issues running even bt2.1 stuff
Updating did not fix the issue.
Other phones (with older versions than BT 4.0) work perfectly.
I don't have access to updating my car's audio system atm, so I'm hoping something could be done on the phone's side.
But since this isn't a very wide spread problem among XDA users, I'm thinking it's not going to be an easy task.
Update:
Today, I tried something. After answering a call, the same thing happened (after 2 seconds I could no longer hear the other party but the call didn't drop)
On my HOX I chose Speaker and I was able to hear the other person talking; switched it back to BT handsfree (my car's audio system) and it worked.
Even though this is not a solution, but at least now I can answer a call when I'm driving. I just have to switch to Speaker then BT... Still better than nothing
Having a similar problem with mine, it pairs fine, I can access the phonebook etc but as soon as you try to make a call the bluetooth disconnects. However, i've found that if you turn the bluetooth off and back on again and re-pair it, it seems to work properly.
Would be nice if it just worked first time though.

After reading about this subject extensively, it seems that updating your car audio system is the best solution.
I suggest you take an appointment with the BMW service station and have them update your system.
yeah, i'm going to look into it. did you get yours sorted?
Bmw bluetooth 4.0
Same problem here on first connect every thing works fine but the next time the connection is lost with the first call.
Bmw doesn't have a update yet.
Would be cool if someone on xda could fix this for us.

No I haven't yet. But I guess I'll try to get an appointment for next week.
For the time being, the workaround I came up with (switching to speaker phone then back to BT during a call), is working for me.

Does the call drop completely? or you simply stop hearing the other party?
I noticed something new today.
During a phone call (connected to Car Audio System), and I receive an SMS, the same thing happens (but the workaround still works).

SOLVED
Even though this is an old thread, I wanted to let you know that this issue has been fixed.
By updating my Hboot to 1.31 and using a jelly bean ROM, I no longer have a problem with Handsfree over Bluetooth.
For those of you who are still facing this issue, I hope this helps.
NOTE: Before updating to new Hboot, you need to make sure your CID allows it. Check here.
Also you need to flash a jelly bean ROM afterwards, I use ARHD and it's pretty good!
.
Cheers!

Bluetooth Audio Stutter

Hi all, got my LG G3 D855 yesterday moving up from a Nexus 4. My first impressions where mixed, the screen was certainly a massive improvement but the phone feels incredibly laggy in comparison to my Nexus 4, but I was willing to work with it for a while. This morning I've tried linked my phone to my car's Bluetooth just like I would with my N4 to listen to music on daily commute. However I've noticed that around 3/4 a mintue the music stutters - only when the screen is off. I tried both Spotify and Google Play Music, having the same results with both.
Anyone else with the same problems / know how to fix this? It's incredibly annoying and could easily be a deal breaker for me.
I have the D855 3GB, I don't have any BT issues (using it in the car and with BT headphones). Did you try to delete the pairing and re-pair the G3 to the car BT ?
I have the Nexus 4 too and I don't feel that the G3 is laggy as in your description (it stutters very rarely and this started to happen after I installed Xposed and some modules).
Mine is a 2GB version wonder if that is causing me some of these problems
If it's when the screen is off, it sounds like the phone is trying to save power with the cpu and is causing problems. Changing the buffering might help if you use an app that can do that, or disabling this feature of the phone could work too.
I've been using my cars built in Bluetooth audio, and also through jaybird bluebudz. Both work perfectly with no issues whatsoever, I'm in a European 16gb 855 with 2gb ram. I'll continue to test, but it's worked very well with mp3 through the standard music app

Do you know what version of bluetooth your car has and if it uses Apt-X? It could be that it has trouble with certain formats, or could just be an individual problem.
Sorry i don't know, it's a seat alhambra 2013, touch screen and built in. There is very little documentation on those things in this car. I'll Google about the jaybirds later on, but they're also very new.
I have a similar issue with tunelink auto bluetooth receiver in my car, but audio works just fine with my jbl flip speaker at home...

I've tried closing down all other apps and turning everything else off Wi-Fi, NFC etc. With regards to changing the buffering do you know of any apps that would allow me to do this?
Confirmed it was enabling ART that caused the Bluetooth audio to stutter. Thanks for the help.

Are any of you guys able to voice dial over bluetooth by pressing/holding the bluetooth button? Redial works fine just not voice dialing.

Are you using ART or Dalvik? I don't have the phone, but this is an important feature to me. Strongly considering this phone, but I don't want to lose features such as dialing a call with a bluetooth device.

Sorry for the late reply I was on holidays. I'm using Dalvik. Holding the headset button does nothing, double pressing the headset button does redial the last number. Google Voice Dial does not pop up. I've tried multiple headsets from different manufacturers with no luck. The BlueAnt headset says that this feature (voice command) is not supported by this handset.
There is a work around to re-map the redial button but its not the best option and only works about 60% of the time. It also costs a couple of bucks but that's not a big deal.
If you have a Android Wear device you can dial from that also.
Bluetooth Voice Dial missing is a huge disappointment for a flagship phone.
Playing around with a G3 at an AT&T store, I connected my bluetooth earpiece to the display model. I long pressed the earpiece button and a LG dialog box popped up asking what I wanted to do, listing a call xxxxx command. It listed names & numbers. I use a Plantronics earpiece. It's older, not the latest & greatest, but can be had for under $20. Does anyone else see this?
The AT&T is a model D850, if I recall correctly.
Hi there
Sorry to reopen this thread but I have noticed that I am getting audio stutter since upgrading to Lollipop. Doesn't matter which audio app I use, it happens all of them for me. Has anyone else noticed this?

I have this issue still also. On ANY Lollipop stock LG software or rom, it stutters, but on AOSP it doesn't. I even emailed LG about it to only receive a snotty reply telling me that as I had installed a custom rom my warranty was void and they wouldn't help.
Has been driving me mad for months, small but very annoying blemish on an otherwise near-perfect phone!

disable bluetooth a2dp hardware offload?

I have searched here and the Google, with no joy.
I was browsing DEVELOPER OPTIONS and ran across a setting, that I do not know if ON or OFF is best.
SETTINGS > DEVELOPER OPTIONS > NETWORKING > DISABLE BLUETOOTH A2DP HARDWARE OFFLOAD
I am unsure which was default and could not find the benefits of either selection.
Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks! At least this confirms what I thought.
I think I inadvertently turned it on, while scrolling. I believe that's why I noticed it, in the first place, because the switch was blue and obvious.
Did you ever figure out what the purpose of the toggle is?
I looked at this a while ago https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78362981&postcount=10
Different manufacturers/Models of phones have it disabled or it resets when the phone starts. This could be to do with them implementing their own audio processor (DAC/Chip/etc) for processing the audio. It has no effect when changed according to anyone that's bothered to trying it.
Thanks for the update.
It will affect gapless playback on GPM (dont know about other services) with Bluetooth headphones ( dont know why)
enabling this feature helped me fix a low volume problem on a Bluedio T6 bluetooth headphones.
I want to know exactly what this is too. I only know that it makes music track transitions on GPM gappless. I found that suggestion on Reddit when I was trying to listen to Dark Side of the Moon and the damn gaps kept ruining my chill.

This happened to me too. To fix this, in the developer settings menu, toggle Developer Options off then without leaving that screen, toggle it back on again. Scroll down and you should be able to toggle that setting off.

Bluetooth audio quality question

Hello. I change phones alot and have noticed that some phones(all android) have better bluetooth playback than others.
I had a oneplus 7 pro before this phone and the bluetooth quality to my truck was great and had no issues but with this phone the highs sounds scratchy or like if the speaker is bad. But if i connect it with a wire connection it sounds great. Everything with the 2 phones is the same. On both i was using the galaxy watch and pretty much the same apps. On a previous phone the note 8 i had the same issue but it was a different car. Seems like its the way samsung handles bluetooth.
Has anyone had this issue? If so was there a fix?
Thanks

What do you mean?
The only two things I think about is the codec used that may be different across devices, and the Bluetooth settings that sync the phones volume with the headset (the differences are noticeable).
Since no DAC is used in Bluetooth, I don't think it can comes from them, for a same headset.
On Samsung phones you should run the adapt sound process. Try this.
I tried with the sync volume off too and no improvement.
I looked for the adapt sound and my phone doesn't have that setting. Or is it something different?
It's in Sounds and Vibration 》 Advanced Sound settings 》Sound Quality and effects 》 Adapt sound
You have to do this in a quiet place and ensure to answer honestly. If you can't hear the beeping press no.
After doing this the sound quality is night and day difference.
Ok found it. Ill play with it a bit. Thanks
I've had issues sometimes with audio being piped through the "Calls" Bluetooth channel versus the "Audio" channel so worth checking as the quality is obviously night and day.
I also like enabling Dolby Atmos on my Note 10+ for music so worth playing with too. Additionally, I recently found Samsung's Sound Assistant app which let's you customize a bunch of sound settings so worth checking out as well:

Easiest is probably just uncheck calls in your phones BT settings for your truck (and make sure audio is enabled). If the sound is still not great then this isn't the issue.
Sorry to respond to an old thread, but I was wondering if any of this fixed the OP's problem. I followed all the recommendations here and on other threads but have not been able to solve my recent Bluetooth audio problem. The sound has been terrible lately.
Same issue here on my s10+. When playing any audio in my car via BT i hear the distortion/hissing noise especially when the song has a higher treble frequency.
I have just about tried all fixes i could find on Google, and no luck.
When connecting to my ear buds (Jabra Elite 65t) it disappears and checked in developer mode that it supports to AAC for BT Codecs.
But when connecting to the car it reverts to SBC.
The issue clearly lies on Samsungs side, as my brother has a Huawei p30 Pro, also has bluetooth 5 and plays amazingly well in all aspects (Bass-Mids-Treble).
I know I'm posting this almost a year later, but i am desperately looking for a fix.
SN. I have recently updated my phone to Android 10, despite all the complaints to Samsung from many users... Sadly this issue has not being fixed on my side.
From what i see online, people have given up on Samsung and opted for Rooting their Samsungs and installing Viper4Andriod.
Has any one done this and can confirm that it fixed the issue?
