backing up and installing

Hello, i was curious if there was a way to back up all of my APPs at once, and then install them again without redownloding them and installing.

Yes. Use Titanium backup or My backup root (if rooted). Then restore using the same application you used to backup.
This IS the wrong section for such a question, just a heads up.
edit: pretty sure it was originally posted in the Dev section, that's why I put the heads up, if not I was mistaken and I apologize : )

Isn't this Q&A?
Where should this question have been asked if not Q&A?

There's a section for apps.
His post was not about a theme or an app.
It was a question about how to back up his apps, which can be done with various apps or the recovery.
He asked a question, and got an answer. All is well with the world

Making a copy of my system to recover later?

Hey guys,
I hope you're all doing great. So my problem here is that I cracked my Note 2 (tmobile) screen, talked to samsung, they said they will fix it but at the same time they have to erase everything on the system. So since I have so much saved on it and i literally use it for everything. I was wondering if there is a way to back up an exact image of the system which I can save on my laptop and I can recover later?
I would really appreciate the help.
Thank you.:good:
Make a nandroid with clockwork mod or twrp and copy your /sd folder to your external sd Make sure the nandroid backup is also on your extsd.... or copy it all to your laptop.

[Q] Preload system and apps

Okay, I'm new to this device and rooted it yesterday, still stock 4.1.2 for now, and want to know if I can use Romtoolbox Pro to safely remove bloatware. Been reading a bit about the preload/symlink/system/apps and see symlinks to the bloat, (and, yes already downloaded the superwipe and cache/dalvick wipe from the dev thread). Do I need to remove those symlinks also? Or should I just freeze the apps? Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been answered already.

Okay, I see there is a spreadsheet in themes/apps section but no mention of the preload/symlink/system/apps. I'm backed up, so no harm, no foul.

SMS apk/zip

so I accidentally installed a Verizon modded SMS zip to disable the screen coming on with each sms. It borked my messaging app completely and crashes every time. I got a different messaging app zip as well as an apk and neither of them work. The apk actually does not even complete installation. Does anyone have the stock SMS app for the AT&T note 2 in zip form? If not, other thoughts oh how to resolve? Thanks.

thanks mod. bump, anyone have any help?
If you have root explorer just extract sms apk from any att rom and push it to system app folder. After you place sms apk to system folder fix permission using twrp or cwm. Reason why it won't continue installing is you are trying to install a system app.

no root explorer. other options?
Get it
massive points to whoever has it and extracts the apk
Ya. Thats what the moderators will do! Give us infraction points haha.. massive
Thats against xda rules, and is frowned upon.
its against the rules to post stock apks? I wasn't aware, thanks for the heads up.
Root explorer isent stock
Think they were referring to the stock sms .apk.

I did end up finding a stock AT&T apk and root explorer but that method did not work (using root explorer to put the apk in system app then fixing permissions in twrp). Still crashes. what gives?
My bad.. misunderstood what u were asking
Just do a dirty flash using same rom you are on now that way you dont lose your data apps. Just wipe cache and dalvik when you flash same rom.

ok, will give it a shot and report back. just running stock rooted as this is my "work note", my personal one on sprint is where the fun happens
edit: can't flash.. get a "error opening zip" when it tries to update the partition.

how many backups do you have? 1 backup on this phone is atleast 1.5gb, if not 2.5gb.

Looks like I have three in there. When I tried to delete the oldest one it wouldn't let me.
Thanks for the reply
Any old file manager should allow you to delete twrp backups.
As to backup size it entirely depends on what rom you are running, and how much stuff you have.

I agree with the above posts. I take my old nandroids and move them on to my PC, just in case.
