Sim Status - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

So since I started using my phone my banking apps have never worked even without root or unlocking the bootloader. They all can't retrieve the phones phone number so today I realised that in setting the phone shows phone numbers as unknown probably this is why. Any having the same issue in settings does your phone show the number. I have a Chinese hd1900 could this be reason. And what's the possible work around. The simcards work just fine by the way

The number is not displayed on my phone either, but I'm able to use banking apps. I'm from India and having the Indian version so maybe someone with a Chinese variant can confirm better if it works.

I was able to edit my simcards on another phone and now it shows the number. But still my banking apps still have the same problem. Not sure what is wrong now. Let me get logs while doing it

Phone identity

I have ported my number from 3 to T-mobile and the porting went ahead yesterday, and everything is ok in terms of calling, receiving calls.
However when I check Settings, About Phone, Phone identity, to old number (T-mobil) shows up.
I have switched it off and back on, I've removed battery & sim, but still old number showing.
Thoughts?
Same for me...not overly bothered tho
it's because the new SIMs come with their own number programmed into the SIM.
You could change this on Windows Mobile by using the SIM manager and in the menu you had an option to change the 'My Numbers' stored on the SIM.
Don't know of any way to do this on Android.
Anyway, just save your number in the contacts list in 'Me'.
It really is nothing to worry about, but you can go ahead and dump the SIM into another phone to change the number if you really want to....
It's annoying when you know it's wrong isn't it?
Mine read 'Unknown' so I took my SIM out, jammed it into my spare WM phone and programmed it in SIM Manger as mentioned above.
Android still reports it as 'Unknown', I can't win
Yes I definitely want to change it... uhhh So no app for Android does this yet?

Depends. Personally, this wouldn't bother me in the slightest. My last windows mobile phone said unknown for the whole time i had it. Made no difference to me whatsoever. but that's just me. I have other stuff to get annoyed about
I guess it just can't read it from the SIM for some reason if it's still showing as unknown. And AFAIK there is no app for it. Although maybe someone else here knows otherwise?

[Q] SIM Unlock PIN

Hello,
I've bought an unlcoked Galaxy Nexus about 6 months ago, and everything worked perfectly.. until now.
Recently, I've had problems regarding the SIM Unlock PIN.
When I turn on my device, it requires a code.
I can choose to ignore that message and use my phone in any other way but using mobile network (can't text or call).
From what I understand, my phone has been locked to a specific network and I need to get the code to unlock it.
But I have no idea which network my phone is locked to..
Is there any way to find out?
Also, this has happend before, and I, who don't know what to do with it, took it to a guy who fixed it for me (He changed the Android version and did whatever he did.. I have no idea.)
Last night my phone ran out of battery, and today when I charged and opened it, it was locked again.
I don't know what caused it.
Is there any way to remove it permanently?
If not, can anyone help me remove it temporarily without paying too much money to websites I don't trust (Which require to know the network my phone is locked to, by the way...)?
My friend said that when the Android version changes, so does the code.
My currently Android version is 4.1.1 and I can choose to update it. Would it help?
Thank you, to whoever is willing to try and help me.
Is your phone have a GSM sim card??
Yes, I do.
Help anyone..?

[Q] HTC ONE X phone number unreadable after upgrade to 4.2.2

Hi everyone,
I seem to be facing a problem that I haven't found discussed here with my phone.
Following a successful upgrade to Slimbean 4.2.2 build 6 OFFICIAL, everything seems to be working correctly with my Tmobile UK SIM card and I can make or receive calls and texts, I can read the IMEI reference but for some reason my phone number is not displayed anymore in the "about phone" section in Settings or if I use an app like "SIM Card" to read the details of the SIM. I get instead the message "unknown number"
I am not sure if this is a problem or not, so I would like to know if anyone can think of any potential limitation due to this issue.
On top of this, I am about to move abroad and was going to request a code from Tmobile to unlock the phone as I assumed the phone was locked to their network, but when I tried a THREE SIM card, the card was actually accepted and I connected to that network but again the phone number is not displayed in the settings section...
Has anybody seen or heard a similar issue?
I installed a fresh Slimbean ROM from scratch as I was previously running a completely different ROM and I assume it was successful as everything seems to be working.
The only issues I could find in the forum were related to not being able to retrieve the IMEI number after the upgrade, but nothing about the phone number itself.
I would be very grateful if anyone could offer any help or suggestion.
Thank you in advance.
David.
I have noticed the same thing on the official CM 10.1 builds (with both Three UK and giffgaff SIMs), I suspect it is an issue but it's not a real bother to me all it means that any app that auto detects your phone number (eg hangouts) will just ask for it during initial setup instead.
Again the same for the IMEI sometimes this doesn't show up but it does most of the time.

Thanks Hydo1,
I have found a couple of things yesterday.
First, I have been able to add the number manually through the settings menu in the dial pad and it now shows in the "about" section.
Second, I have found out that although my voicemail is setup and active when I call the Tmobile services, it doesn't actually work anymore and I can only guess it is due to this issue as it was working before...
I'll try again once I have switched to a new network abroad...

Problems with KDDI Japan ROM. Do they persist with Taiwan ROMs?

Hi, I got my Butterfly 3 yesterday.
It had an old tampered (without "au" stuff) KDDI ROM that wouldn't update so I flashed to a more recent one, rooted, flashed the GPS fix and disabled/uninstalled all the "au" stuff. The phone is now working great except for a few things that are very annoying, and I'd like to know if the Taiwan version doesn't have the same problems:
1 - Can't seem to find a way to select 2G, 3G or 4G mode. My previous One M7 had that option under "mobile data". Here it's completely gone (what the hell? it's the first phone I've ever seen without this..).
This is especially bad because I can't seem to be able to enable LTE (the phone's bands are supported in my country). Since I can't try to force "4G only" in the phone, there's no way to know if there's a problem with my APN configuratin (which I had to input manually.. for the first time ever on a smartphone), if there's a problem with the antenna, or if my SIM card simply doesn't have 4G enabled. Does the Taiwan version have the "force 4G" option?
2 - I've added the country code to almost all my contacts (+351) in order to be able to call them whenever I was abroad. The phone won't detect any contact that has a "+" in the number, so the person's name doesn't appear. Same thing with SMS: if there's a "+" in the number, I can't reply to the sms or send new ones. Is there a way to overcome this with the KDDI ROM? Does the Taiwan ROM have this problem too?
I'm split between "upgrading" to the Taiwan Marshmallow or keeping the KDDI one.
To be honest, I'd rather stay with Lollypop if it means getting usable NFC. On the other hand, if the Taiwan ROM fixes the problems mentioned above then I'll say goodbye to NFC.
I fixed it by having two numbers on one person. So you got the number with the country code(+...) and the number without country code(for me: 06....).
As for the problem with the settings, I can't find it either :/
Maybe the option is just hidden away, but I never use mobile data.
I've been in your shoes

I'm in the states , but calling both and texts has been fine. (I had a damaged SIM couldn't send texts)
If you really want japan's au bloat that even with a pro root uninstaller still leaves grime just to keep NFC, I have a solution for you to get data.
P.S.You need root for any real fixes like this one
use es file explorer and turn on root read write permissions, it'll ask when you use the left side panel to access system directory.
Use search to find apn-config.xml
Replace file with one from cyanogenmod rom or any phone you have.
Data should now work. To fix SMS uninstall it, clear out its folder and install any HTC text messaging app and place apk in folder. (then clear cache)
Also, update as much as possible before rooting, b/c its a bootloader unlock and this phone has not bootloader update with marshmallow you can always root with twrp.
Private message me with any questions I'll respond asap. I'm no developer (despite my attempts linux hates me), but I know my way around the average android device and have kept up with everything for this one.
(Taiwan has no gps issues, uninstallable bloatware, nor apn/4g problems)

Are you absolutely sure that uninstalling sms.apk and clean the cache solved the problem for you. I tried that long time but didn't work for me. Which APK did you uninstall ? providers.apk, sms.apk or mms.apk ?
I don't have GPS, 4G issues on Japan version, the only problem is SMS "+" resolution.

N976V Early Access Retail Firmware Link Here

This is the Verizon Note 10+ 5G, for those who may not know.
Once the device is released, this will be available via SamFirm and other sources, so I'm really only providing this now as early access, for anyone that wants to dig in and play around and see what they can find, etc.
I compress extra small for space and bandwidth savings. The default Windows extractor can't handle it, so you'll need a 3rd party tool like 7zip, WinRAR, etc
Happy flashing!

Are you aware if there any universal (unlocked) firmwares available for this model, or do you have any suggestions for adding Samsung Cloud that Verizon intentionally removed??

There will never be a U1 model, so no U1 firmwares. No idea on Samsung Cloud - maybe start a thread about it?

you can install cloud from the app store..
the device has two csc.. GCF and VZW.. however once unlocked any carrier should work minus the 5G stuff which im sure is vzw onky on this model.. i have used with sprint and tmo sims and they work..
besides the vzw bloat its just as good..

Maybe you can answer my question: mine is a SM-976N korean model, everything works fine as it's factory unlocked even if KT branded, do you think the 5G stuffs may be available only with a KT SIM?

The CSC can't be changed on a N976V
Updated, but wondering if it will prevent 5G access.

What's the point/purpose of changing it?
Without being explicit, it allows you to run an app service with a GUDP plan that would otherwise be blocked Only concern is if it will prevent 5G access.. no change to APN and LTE seems to work fine but wasn't sure...

The app store does NOT even offer Samsung Cloud for Verizon devices. Furthermore, even after downloading Samsung Cloud from alternate sources, for whatever reason, Verizon has somehow managed to block the installation of it...
If you have a workaround, I'm all ears...

It must require some underlying app or framework in order to be installed and run

I'm pretty sure you get that message because it is already installed but blacklisted in the vzw csc. Of course you'd need root to change that though.
***This is why i'm strongly considering getting the chinese snapdragon vs.... (im on tmobile).....but they play around with the csc and block stuff too that i have unlocked on my note 8 thanks to root.

verizon does block it to an extent but if u want cloud its very easy to allow it.. just change the csc to GCF.. if u dont want it to stay on gcf then u could experiment with it.. i believe once its installed then switchin back to vzw might b ok?
if u dunno how to change csc u can use *#272*IMEI#
i do not recommend u use the DEV/QA function since u mighthave a hard time changing it back from gcf (DEV/QA makes it to wherecscdoesntchange when a sim card is inserted andstays whatever itsset to) since gcf doesnt have a way to get to the csc menu

For the dialer code, do I actually have to input my IMEI number??
...because simply typing 'IMEI' in the T9 dialer does not do anything.
Kinda confused on this one. Would you mind clarifying?? Thanks in advance...
