Shutter sound? - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

My wife and I both have a Note 10+. Hers makes a shutter sound but mine doesn't.
Both UK sim free direct from Samsung.
How can I switch mine on? There is no option under camera settings where the YouTube videos say it should be - on either phone!

Check your sound/volume up is on?

As I like the shutter sound, I had not noticed this, mine sounds everytime, can not find how to turn it off!, mostlt to take pictures in silent places…

r u sure? Look below "storage location" in "camera settings"

No storage location nor shutter sound under camera settings on mine n10+ either (UK). Could be regional limitation

Simply turn the sound off or put it on vibrate sound mode

Open the Camera app, press the gear icon, and scroll down to the bottom. The third option from the bottom should be "Shutter Sound"

No not there - although I can't share the screen grab I took. But if it's a regional variation then why are our 2 different? (I.e one does it and one doesn't not that it's in either phone's menu)

it's there, Note 10+:
try clear caches, reboot etc... the last resort: factory reset, something must've happened during previous OTAs
[/ATTACH]

Mine's a Malaysian variant. Doesn't have that option.
I think its a regional thing here that has to do with privacy or discouraging stalking sort of thing.
Anyway, I found a workaround to gain control over the shutter sound. Under Volume, there should be 5 settings, I made sure the "System" channel was silent. That's the channel the shutter sound makes, along with the Charging sound etc.
(So to OP, check that volume setting)
Since I want the charging sound (but not the shutter sound) I got Tasker to play a sound for charging using the Ringtone channel.
So now I get a sound when I charge (wired and wireless), but my camera is silent.

Well, there are two versions, I pulled out both manuals, one for EU and the other for US and the EU version doesn't mention that shutter sound anywhere so, you have to call Samsung on that.

That's the mystery I'm intrigued by myself, what does the model number say on each phone? (Settings>About phone) and, most importantly, the camera software version(on the bottom of Camera App info) - if you don't mind sharing that

No shutter sound option available in my exynos note10+, Maybe it is a country related thing, just like the call recording limitations per country

It depends on your CSC (OMC). On my International Snapdragon Note 10 + with TGY or BRI CSC (the phone came with BRI which is Taiwan) the camera shutter sound toggle is not there but after flashing the T-Mobile OMC (thanks to MentalMuso) it shows up in camera settings as does call recording in the stock dialer. You need to be rooted to flash it as it's a Magisk module that changes the OMC to the carrier of your choice.

Ok, same serial number on both - SM-N975F but one with sound & one not, but neither with the option menu.

To make the camera silent/shutter sound off
Actually this is the only option available so far. N975F.

[Q] How to Mute the Camera Shutter Sound

I know that this has been posted in the Samsung Focus forum here BUT since I have an LG this seems to be a WP7 general problem.
Does anyone have tricks or tips to turn this sound off? Even when turning the system sound down to 0 and set the profile to vibrate, the shutter sound is still LOUD and clear.
I guess we'll just have to wait until we have root folder access to reach that wav file to mute it.
Very annoying.
It is probably for stupid legal reasons. So you can annoy everybody when you want to take pictures during a professional meeting.
http://social.answers.microsoft.com...7/thread/8d4b3623-a796-456c-a43b-c51f7f7074f3
There's a trick I think. Launch a song on Zune, Pause. Take a picture.
Hope MS can solve this.
yea I heard it was for legal reasons, same on the blackberry. The weird thing is my ex's iphone didn't have the shutter sound and she snapped unsuspecting pictures all the time

Interesting trick but it didn't work for me.
Legal reasons eh? You would think that MS would have used the mui's loaded in the WP7 rom to determine where it's illegal and where it's not. If my WP7 rom is 0409, give me the option to have the sound or not.
On the HD7 (and maybe other HTC devices?) the shutter sound respects the volume control.

Seems like my HTC Mozart respects the master volume as well. Turn that down to zero and there's no shutter sound.

Hmmm...so it seems like LG & Samsung are the culprits. If that's the case then the ONLY way we'll have this fixed is to manually edit the wav file that makes the sound. I highly doubt LG and Sammy care enough to work on this even if we raise a stink.
Then do it.
XDA, tear down that shutter sound!
Found working solution... for me anyways
Hey everybody, I've been trying to get around the issue for a while myself and found this: karnicki.eu/?p=10 for the omnia7. It did the trick for me and whenever I set the phone to silent the shutter stays in STFU mode! I fiddled with the sound settings before but it might be something magical about the 1000/-1000 combo. Please test and confirm.
If someone has an unlocked device with TouchXplorer installed and willing to experiment, there are two files:
\Windows\camerashutter_mirage.wav
\Windows\shutter.wav
that you might want to replace with .wav files containing just silence.
I'm not sure if it's possible to do, but may be worth a try.

Insane Notification volume

Is there some way to control Notification volume? It is insanely high and there seems to be no option to control it. Usually it is linked to other volume setting, but lowering any of the three volume sliders doesn't seem to take any effect.

Then i gues you dont use any Sound Enhancement Apps? If not, try Safe mode... Maybe it helps you to find the trigger

When Prompted About Save Mode, Press the OK Button
Wait for the OnePlus 3 to Boot into Safe Mode
What notification tone are you using? I noticed that some that i had saved from zedge etc.. depending on their frequency are VERY loud. while others arent. I have recently started using the OOS default tones rather than download ones simply because of this.
eg: The tone "HTC Single Beep" (Zedge) is excruciatingly loud. The frequency is just right to send a ring thru your rears.

I'm on OP defaults so far, got the device two days ago and didn't change anything.
Facebook notification for example is really loud. As is everything else.

I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one experiencing this!
I don't think it's a bug or something, just the minimum notification volume being too high.
I'm on stock 3.2.4 too (unlocked BL, no root) and it affects all the ringtones (both calls and notifications), not only some. EG default OP sound, Facebook, Outlook, etc.

It surely is a bug. Normally it should be linked to another volume setting (Ringer I think), which is also really stupid, but working. This seems like the notification volume is set to really high value and not linked to anything, which makes it impossible to control.

If it is possible to make the notification even higher... That would be bad. The windows in my office would shatter.
still no solution for this?basic fail.
I have the same problem et no solution with the Oxygen OS i think.

S9 / S9+ Shutter Sound

Does anyone know if the S9 / S9+ offers the ability to turn off the shutter sound when taking photos on all versions (carrier and unlocked)? Does it work on screenshots as well?
Trying to decide which to buy so any info would be great.
I've got S9 and there is no shutter sound when all volume options are turned down.
Nothing for screenshot either, it just vibrates.

EU/UK Exynos single sim SIM unlocked
It all depends on the country. On my Sony, whenever you connect to a Wifi, country is detected and shutter sound can or can't be turned off. Not sure about S9 but should be same behaviour.
There are ways to disable shutter sound totally with root and/or magisk and/or xposed
Unlocked US has shutter sound. No option to disable.
Exynos duos variant (European) - no shutter sound when System volume is off
US Unlocked S9 with VZW SIM, as long as the system volume is off, the camera shutter sound is off. I use Audio Guru and have set all profiles to system volume off, now I can use the camera without shutter no matter which sound profile is active.

What versions of the phone actually have the shutter sound option?
anyone know if the exynos version has the option to disable?
my us ATT S9+ has shutter sound option in camera settings
Verizon S9 has shutter sound option in camera settings
In the US, all carrier phones have a specific firmware that includes features and options not available in the 'Unlocked' version purchased directly from Samsung. You can always have the carrier's firmware flashed to your unlocked phone if you choose. Doing that will give you the option you see on most sites for disabling the shutter sound within the Camera Settings menu.
Thanks, will try as I hate that sound.
I wanted shutter sound off for S9+, even though phone was in a loud mode (not silent or vibrate) so here it is
app--> Settings --->Sounds & Vibrations --> Volume --->System .
On SYSTEM Drag on the slider all the way to left to make it silent/ mute till you see the slash no ringing symbol. This worked for me and should work for you too.

Disable Camera Shutter Sound

I just got my hands to the LG G7+, this was bought on FlipKart(India). I have a strange issue that I am not able to disable the Camera shutter sound. I tried to put the phone on silent, vibrate, even do not distub, nothing works. The camera settings has no place where I can change this. Usually there is a shutter sound on or off toggle, but I cant find this in my phone.
How do I disable this? has anyone faced it and achieved success?
I am not sure if I am open for any rooting.
Please help.
Thanks,
V
Same issue wid me also, any1 to help...
I am not aware of any law in India which mandates this, so why LG?
I was reading in a few places that this happens if I use an Indian sim, I never used an Indian sim in my phone, I purchased it in India but i use it in UAE.
I have an European model. If I turn down the Ring volume, until muted (past Vibrate), the camera becomes silent.
The Ring volume, not the Media volume, not System volume, not Notification.

The app SilentCam Switch solved it for me.
I solved it with camera mute beta. Its notifications and badge can be also be deactivated via app options.

It is mandatory to keep camera sounds in some regions/countries for responsible use/prevent misuse. You will neither have the option to turn off the camera sounds nor silencing the phone would silence it.
Like many suggestions already mentioned here, a workaround to this is installing Forced MuteMode which will let you mute the whole device or selected apps with its Auto MuteMode feature.
has anyone tried with root and removing the audio shutter files?
i did and it doesn't work wth

Lock screen video

I accidentally posted in A50s. The lock screen video plays fine but no sound. I can play that video in Gallery with sound. I do not know if lock screen support video with sound. Thanks.

I just found 3 apps in google play store that allow playing video with sound on lock screen. Then there is another app with lock screen settings that allow to turn the sound on, but I did not run it as asking for permition to access my phone calls. Why would a app want to make a call?. Look like a video sound is turn off by manufacture or missing setting in wallpaper settings.

Hey there,
Lock screen video + sound is a feature no manufacturer provides.
Unlike video, It's a pretty useless feature to have sound playing on your lock screen everytime you open it.
Only Phone and Camera have the access to your microphone and speaker prior to unlocking your device, hence the not so wierd app permission.
Cheers !

For most people, the sound may be useless, but I would like to have it. Why, the manufacture, will let me have mp4 video but no sound?.
The app will let me play video with sound on lock screen, but the video play on home screen too - no option to play on lock screen only.
I admit, I am weird person, but I do not believe that I am the only one. There got to be some hidden setting to turn the sound on.
Why is everyone so paranoid these days? The reason Android asks for phone call permissions when installing video/audio apps is so that it knows when phone calls happen so it can lower or mute the sound volume & alert you of the incoming call. Not all permissions Android asks for are bad. Do research before making assumptions. [emoji848][emoji106]
