I just got my hands to the LG G7+, this was bought on FlipKart(India). I have a strange issue that I am not able to disable the Camera shutter sound. I tried to put the phone on silent, vibrate, even do not distub, nothing works. The camera settings has no place where I can change this. Usually there is a shutter sound on or off toggle, but I cant find this in my phone.
How do I disable this? has anyone faced it and achieved success?
I am not sure if I am open for any rooting.
Please help.
Thanks,
V
Same issue wid me also, any1 to help...
I am not aware of any law in India which mandates this, so why LG?
I was reading in a few places that this happens if I use an Indian sim, I never used an Indian sim in my phone, I purchased it in India but i use it in UAE.
I have an European model. If I turn down the Ring volume, until muted (past Vibrate), the camera becomes silent.
The Ring volume, not the Media volume, not System volume, not Notification.

The ringer volume is already down when in silent or vibrate.
The app SilentCam Switch solved it for me.
I solved it with camera mute beta. Its notifications and badge can be also be deactivated via app options.

This works on my ULM 20e. Easier than figuring out TWRP/dm-verity/etc.
Thanks

It is mandatory to keep camera sounds in some regions/countries for responsible use/prevent misuse. You will neither have the option to turn off the camera sounds nor silencing the phone would silence it.
Like many suggestions already mentioned here, a workaround to this is installing Forced MuteMode which will let you mute the whole device or selected apps with its Auto MuteMode feature.
has anyone tried with root and removing the audio shutter files?
i did and it doesn't work wth

Nope! Silent feature was removed by Google in Android 5.0 LP. That was quite an annoyance for me when my G3 updated to LollyPop. There are a few threads discussing this issue on the G3 forum already.
Just download a Do Not Disturb app or something similar to get a Silent or Night mode feature back.
I as well as many other previous Nexus 6p owners have been noticing that ringtones / notifications only come out of the bottom speaker of the Pixel 2 XL. The irony of this is that any app besides the "Settings" app has all sound coming out of both speakers. Is there a program / workaround anyone knows of? I don't care if I have to root my phone; I want to use my dual front facing speakers!
Thanks,
~Mike
Too bad this apparently is not considered a bug, its just how its suposed to work. In my opinion its pretty dumb not to allow both speakers on incoming calls/notifications from Google.
I'm getting sounds out of both speakers when my phone rings. Not sure if this happened before I updated to 8.1, but I don't think so. Tested it with more than one ringtone, stock and custom. Now, my problem is the screen won't come on when the phone rings. I hope an update to the phone app fixes this soon.
Yes my also only the bottom one firing. Any solution?
Bumping this up, any solution?
Can someone please make a mod to enable dual speakers for ringtones?
Currently.. i am studying about sound mod on pixel 2 oreo 8.1.
My main objective is to fix the crackling issue.. btw.. i will look into this one too

I use a Tasker profile to get around this issue. Basically, I monitor the status of calls, and when the phone is ringing, I play my ringtone as media. Then as soon as the call is answered or ignored (offhook or idle), the exit task stops the media. I just set my actual ringtone in settings to "none". Other than that, it behaves exactly like a ringtone should. My task also matches the media volume to the ringtone volume while ringing, then restores the previous media volume setting. That way, if your phone is on vibrate, it won't still ring out loud. I can do a detailed write up on how I did it if anyone needs it.

Like I said in other posts, sound does come out of both speakers with calls and notifications. When you're choosing a sound in settings, it does indeed only come out of the bottom speaker. I can't believe I'm the only one who has sounds coming out of both speakers when a call comes in. I've tested it with multiple sounds, too.

Confused with what you are saying. Are you saying that when you choose a ringtone in settings you no longer have it coming out of only the bottom speaker?

Yes. It only comes out of the bottom speaker when I'm picking the sound. When someone calls, I hear it from both speakers. I've tried this with both custom and system sounds.

Thanks a lot! I've only used profiles and tasks in Tasker before, but your project imported just fine. All I had to do was change your task's ringtone to mine and set my phone's ringtone to none. Now to wait for someone to call me.

ccoulterjg1 - please provide detailed instructions on how to get tasker profile to resolve the issue of the ring volume using the ring speaker configuration instead of the media speaker configuration, which should resolve the issue, as media volume is quite loud and ring volume is not (I need to be able to hear my phone ring when I am sleeping, and on-call).
When I was on Oreo and using my Bluetooth headset I would receive text notification tones through both headset and phone. Now on Pie when I have my headset connected text message notifications only play through the headset. Phone call ringtones play through both but not text notifications. Am I missing a setting somewhere or is this the new normal?

BUMP BUMP BUMP, this is literally making me miss calls from my boss. Seems like a very stupid change to make without giving the option to change... Anyone have any ideas?
Right?!? I have no trouble getting phone calls. It's the text messages that I don't know about. I use Bluetooth headphones mostly for talking so when I'm not on a call I don't have the earbuds in. So when I get a text and the notification only plays through the headset I won't hear it if there's any amount of noise around me.
I just got the update on my T-Mobile S9. Same problem. If you disable Media on your active Bluetooth device, notifications will work on the phone, but that defeats the purpose of using headphones or an external speaker. Is there a fix for this!?

I use mine mainly for talking at work. So this would work for me. And honestly if I'm using them for media then I'm going to have the earbuds in so I'll hear the notifications.

I signed and shared it in the Samsung forum on a thread I started there a couple of months ago. Hopefully, they will fix it soon. I am missing important messages when in my car, have my Bluetooth headset on, or have the jack plugged into my radio at home.
I figured out a fix!!!
Go to Settings>Sounds and Vibrations>Advanced Sound Settings>Seperate App Sound
Turn the switch to the "On" position
Click on "App" and choose your messenger app and any other app you want to be heard through the phone.
Backup to the previous screen and press "Audio Device"
Choose "Phone"
You should be all set. You will now play your message/ phone sounds through your phone without losing audio through your Bluetooth device!

Try this solution:
Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > click the settings on the Bluetooth device >turn it on for calls , default is off.
Let me know if that worked.
I'm new to MIUI and 9SE is not my primary phone but I'm trying to get no sound but incoming phone calls.
I put it in Do not disturb (DND) mode from sound settings but all I have is Multimedia sound muted. Whatsapp and messaging apps are still ringing.
My target is muting all notifications when in DND not muting multimedia sound, as I want to have audio if playing a video or music.
Am I doing it wrong maybe? Or I don't get the MIUI DND mode.
I came here to post exactly this, i've already asked this question in this reddit thread and in this one without getting answers. I hope someone could reply here, for now i solved disabling notifications sound in sounds and ringtones.
Hello there.
What you will have to do in order to fix this but is to put these two options in Allow incoming calls from on DND:
1- Starred contacts only.
2- None.
This is the only way notifications will not sound anymore in DND mode.

But if I receive I call from a contact not on my list the phone will not ring? Can't do that... I'll try xiaomi.eu in these days and report back if the bug is present in that rom too.

Hello, it's the same thing even on xiaomi.eu! At this point I think it's designed this way, even though I talked with another guy and he told his MI 9SE works fine in DND mode.
This is so infuriating
Updated to MIUI 10.3.4.0 and the DND issue is not solved yet.
The fix I applied: turn off completely sound notification for whatsapp and hangouts messages.
This means that wa/hangouts messages now are not ringing even when DND is not enabled.

correct, indeed I should not call it a fix
2020 and still happening... Is there a way to push Xiaomi to fix it?
Ony my phone I got another problem, but I think it's related to yours: If I switch silent mode on and listen to music, no notification sound is played when e.g. a whatsapp message is received, BUT the music does get lower volume for about two seconds. As I am listening to music sometimes when working, I get distracted by getting aware of new messages without any notificatuon sound played. How can I fix this?
Same here on a Mi 10 Pro. DND is on but notifications still works.
I rooted my Poco f1 mainly because of this issue. I don't like getting notifications at night and Miui DND doesn't work. So I flashed Pixel Experience and use DND which works just fine.
I'm using xiaomi mi 10 pro global, I'm facing the same problem in dnd too. I cant allow phone call from anyone in dnd, whenever I enable "allow call from anyone" the dnd will allow ALL notification sound and vibrate.
Dunno what xiaomi is thinking, they probably thought this is the way it should work. Our problem is not a problem to them.
Me:"dnd got bug"
Xiaomi:"this is not a bug, this is how it should work"
Updated to global miui12 on mi 10 pro, the dnd "problem" still exist
To solve this issue I have developed this small app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ryosoftware.silentnotifications

Thank you very much! This has been driving me mad for days and your app apparently works properly!
My wife and I both have a Note 10+. Hers makes a shutter sound but mine doesn't.
Both UK sim free direct from Samsung.
How can I switch mine on? There is no option under camera settings where the YouTube videos say it should be - on either phone!
Check your sound/volume up is on?
As I like the shutter sound, I had not noticed this, mine sounds everytime, can not find how to turn it off!, mostlt to take pictures in silent places…

Simply turn the sound off or put it on vibrate sound mode
Open the Camera app, press the gear icon, and scroll down to the bottom. The third option from the bottom should be "Shutter Sound"
No not there - although I can't share the screen grab I took. But if it's a regional variation then why are our 2 different? (I.e one does it and one doesn't not that it's in either phone's menu)
it's there, Note 10+:
try clear caches, reboot etc... the last resort: factory reset, something must've happened during previous OTAs
[/ATTACH]
Mine's a Malaysian variant. Doesn't have that option.
I think its a regional thing here that has to do with privacy or discouraging stalking sort of thing.
Anyway, I found a workaround to gain control over the shutter sound. Under Volume, there should be 5 settings, I made sure the "System" channel was silent. That's the channel the shutter sound makes, along with the Charging sound etc.
(So to OP, check that volume setting)
Since I want the charging sound (but not the shutter sound) I got Tasker to play a sound for charging using the Ringtone channel.
So now I get a sound when I charge (wired and wireless), but my camera is silent.
Well, there are two versions, I pulled out both manuals, one for EU and the other for US and the EU version doesn't mention that shutter sound anywhere so, you have to call Samsung on that.

That's the mystery I'm intrigued by myself, what does the model number say on each phone? (Settings>About phone) and, most importantly, the camera software version(on the bottom of Camera App info) - if you don't mind sharing that
No shutter sound option available in my exynos note10+, Maybe it is a country related thing, just like the call recording limitations per country
It depends on your CSC (OMC). On my International Snapdragon Note 10 + with TGY or BRI CSC (the phone came with BRI which is Taiwan) the camera shutter sound toggle is not there but after flashing the T-Mobile OMC (thanks to MentalMuso) it shows up in camera settings as does call recording in the stock dialer. You need to be rooted to flash it as it's a Magisk module that changes the OMC to the carrier of your choice.
Ok, same serial number on both - SM-N975F but one with sound & one not, but neither with the option menu.
To make the camera silent/shutter sound off
Actually this is the only option available so far. N975F.
