Has anyone else ran into this issue?
Got the Note 10+ at launch. It's AT&T. A few weeks ago the camera would do as shown above in the camera app, banking apps (check cashing), 3rd party camera apps, everywhere. The only fix is to zoom out to 0.5-0.9x and use the wide angle camera. It will malfunction in video mode as well. As a last resort effort I just flashed the unlocked firmware to the phone and it still has this issue. There have been no hard drops, extreme temperature swings, or power surges that I know of while connected to a charger. Sometimes the camera will give me a few seconds to take the picture without bugging out, but usually it starts off grainy and unusable, forcing me to use wide angle. The selfie camera is fine. Thanks in advance for your time!

Flash back to the original rom and do a warranty exchange......assume you're paying for warranty coverage. Well in any case it would fall under the 1 year hardware/manufacturer fault anyway.
And by the way, the earlier in the life cycle that you claim the better chance you have of getting back a good device and not one that's scratched up or burnt out battery.

The "Refining picture" message is a totally different problem than the one in this thread, and there's already a different thread about it.

I experienced it today for about a minute and, it was just a yellow tint over the screen. My screen went back to normal after a minute or so. So the question is has this ever happened to any of you guys???
No. Your phone is probably going to explode soon.

This. I used to have an E4GT and then I got the YSOD and 5 minutes later my phone exploded, shrapnel flying everywhere. Still have a piece of the screen lodged in my groin, doctors said they can't take it out because the risk of losing my junk was too high. Was going to replace it but honestly, it's not worth the risk. Decided to play it safe and got an iPhone 4S instead.
Be careful OP, the YSOD is serious sh*t.

A yellow tint over the screen can be two things. Either your ribbon cable connecting your screen to the board is loose or damaged (new screen will fix the problem) or the GPU on your board was overheating (whole new phone if it burns up). Are you running any custom ROMs? What were you doing when it happened? Have you dropped your phone?

It happened about 20 mins. after using odin to go to stock ek02 I was reading an article in wikipedia and all of a sudden everything had a yellow tint I thought it might just be the site but, then I found it was the entire phone screen. I wasn't doing anything that could have overloaded the gpu and, I haven't dropped my phone at all. After a quick google search I found that it could be a software problem since some other people have also had this problem but, it could also be a defect with the screen.... If you have any ideas please let me know.

Also it went away after a minute or so and, has not come back. I have had no problems with anything rendering from the gpu other then this quick glitch.

Ditto on my Sprint Galaxy Nexus. I can't even see it looking for it.
I have to look really close with a flashlight to see mine. But it's very hard to see even with the flashlight.
another defect i suppose

I guess what is odd that its different in the first place, if you have a 100 of something and there all the same and that 101 is off it sorta makes you think why?
My first device has banding issues that aren't great at all, but i'm keeping it. I have seen worse in other threads. I have sent pics of all the problems i have had to google, this way maybe they can check out whats going on with qc over at sammy. I think the problem may be these devices are made in china and the international devices i think are made in Korea. but then again alot of people are having problems no matter which they have!
One thing i will say is googles cs has been great they are very nice and seem willing to help! i don't blame google i blame sammy! sigh but life goes on, there bigger things in life its just a cellphone!!
BTW, thanks everybody for the replies!!
There is a clicking sound when i tap the left side of the screen (in the center). There seems to be nothing wrong with the screen. Seems to be in place. Is it normal?
It reminds me of the common problem that the nexus 7 has.

There's nothing we can do. All the gnex do this. Just some type of bug or quirk.
This is strange, I read about this hardware flaw in GNex only in this thread. I searched all over the Internet about it and found nothing.
Thought that maybe only my GNex have this flaw.
It's interesting how many Nexuses have this bug.
And maybe it's worth to mention it in some FAQ or something like that?..
The Gnex has allot of problems

I'm sorry but i dont understand what you are saying. If you believe from what i said that this is a software problem, well it is not ! This creaking sound i can hear is not some software bug, it's hardware .
I did find that if i press the creaky spot then it stops doing this sound for some time. Then it starts again ! Maybe it's a glue issue or something ?

I think it's definitely glue issue, looks like glass unglued from LCD/digitizer part. But I wonder, why does it produce this 'click' sound then?..
I also mentioned that sometimes it doesn't click. Later it start again. Maybe someone with this problem try the rice bag, maybe it helps somehow?
After a week of this clicking, I've nervously sold my Nexus. I will never buy anything from Samsung. It's build quality is just awful, and, as I see, with this rare bug it's also unpredictable.
Does samsung service accept this as a problem ? Did anyone try to send it to them ?
It must be just some of the GNex's my I9250 doesn't do that.

I've searched all the burn in threads and don't see anything like this. I use my phone as an alarm clock on a dock; a couple of days ago I noticed what looked like little yellow squares on white pages. It was driving me nuts so I took a screenshot and nothing was there; I used another phone and took a picture to email to myself. When I enlarge it I can clearly see it is clock numbers. The phone is still under warranty and I opened a ticket for repair but can't get a clear answer from the service personal; does anyone know if this is covered under warranty?

I use the genuine Google dock and the Alarm clock moves around the screen thus avoiding the burn in you have, just a thought in case they replace your phone and you dont want it to happen again
Aaaaaaa! Is that what will become of all our GalNexes eventually?

Unfortunately not. This will not go away usually. The image is "burned in". The technical term for it is "Image Persistence".
Just Google for a 10h white YouTube video and run it for awhile, it should be fine then. No need to send it in..

I guess I have nothing to lose so I plugged it in and turned it on. Fingers crossed and thank you!

Wouldn't youtube be fullscreen too since it's a video?
That has got to be the most severe case of burn-in I've seen yet. I'm curious as to the results of the 10h white video. Be sure to report back!

Hi,
I bought my Nexus 5X in December, and i was using it with the stock software from Google (locked BL, unmodified, unrooted)(6.0.1 MMP29Q) because i didn't have USB C-A cable and everything was fine.
2 Days ago, i got the cable, and i unlocked the bootloader, rooted the device, and flashed a custom rom (namely Cataclysm)(6.0.1 MMP29P), and everything was still fine, but today, i was shooting some pictures with the camera, and i noticed a black dot in the view, i thought it's dust on the lens, and i tried wiping the lens (from the outside) but it didn't work.
I did some research on the issue, and i found out that many Nexus device users have faced the same problem with previous devices (Nexus 4, Nexus 5), and most feedback says that the problem appeared after updating the camera app, or updating the android version, but there's no actual solution to the issue, since most of the users chose to get a replacement phone.
Demo of the problem:

I posted the images in full size to notice that the dot isn't completely black, it's kinda transparent, on the blue wall, you notice that you can still see the pattern of the paint through the dot.
Things i tried
Wiping the lens from the outside
Uninstalling the camera app updates
Changing the resolution of the camera
Installing another camera app (Open Camera)
Unrooting/Flashing Stock Factory Image
Also, when i zoom in the dot goes out of the screen, it moves with the zoom.
Anyone has any idea what could be done apart from sending the phone back to the retailer? because my phone will have to cross countries to get there and come back :|

Thanks mate, but i'm keeping that as a last resort (as mentioned in the post, the phone will have to cross countries to be replaced, and that will take a lot of time).
I still have hope in finding a solution, or for a miracle to happen and the dot to disappear suddenly just like it appeared.
and i still have till next December for the warranty to end, so i'll hope a little longer for now

If all else fails you could try to find just the camera flex cable, probably has more attached to it, and either replace it yourself or have someone do that for ya. They aren't too hard to replace but haven't opened this phone up yet.
I had the same thing happen to my N4. Although I couldn't see it, there was some kind of speck on the camera lens. I never did anything about it because it was outside of warranty, and I didn't want to open the phone up.
I returned my first 5x for the same reason, although I couldn't see it on the picture yet. This time, I could physically see the speck of dust just outside of the range of the lens. I didn't want to risk it migrating into view just after the warranty expires.
Most likely, it's coincidence that it happened at the time that you flashed a ROM. If you want to be 100% sure, go back to stock to see if it's still there. The issue that you were referring to that happened to others was more of a black bar, which happened to my N4 if I used the most updated camera app.
