Dual SIM Technology and how it works on the 7T - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

I'm having trouble finding out what type of dual SIM technology the 7T uses. Is it DSFA of DSDS? Will either one allow me to take a call from two different carriers at any time? FYI I'll be using Verizon and AT&T.

OP has always 'only' DSDS. So you can only make one call with one card at the same time.
The other card is disabled during this call.

Thank you for the info. If I am currently not on a phone call, the phone being idle, are both Sims able to receive a call at anytime?

yes, of course.

DSDS = Dual sim, dual standby, where you have two sims from two different carriers. When one SIM is active on a call the second goes idle. DSFA = Dual sim full standby, even if one sim is active on a call the other continues to function, although I am not certain of the mechanics of how a user handles two calls at once.
These are very popular with frequent international travelers, or when someone has a company phone and a personal phone but doesn't want to carry two devices. They really haven't caught on in the US because carriers for the most part have similar coverage and don't sell them. The carriers don't want their customers to be customers of other carriers too.
Imagine living in Belgium but frequently traveling to the UK and needing to use a mobile phone in both places. The roaming fees and long distance charges would be outrageous. With a dual sim phone a user could have a Belgium sim card and a UK sim card and be able to use the appropriate sim as needed without having to place the wear and tear on the phone doing sim swaps.
I have tried to find a dual sim phone which functions well in the US. I have a dual sim S9 from the UAE market, but for some reason the data is very slow compared to a single sim S9 for the US market. I also tried a Sonim XP8 which worked well enough until the phone figured out it was in the US and disabled the second sim slot. Apparently Sonim does not want the XP8 to function as a dual sim phone in the US.
T-Mobile has disabled the second sim card slot in the 7t, for whatever reason. I have a 7t coming from direct from the manufacturer and I am excited to see how well it works as a dual sim phone. I have a line on TMO and a line on AT&T, and I don't want to carry two devices if I don't have to.

I had no idea. So if I but a dual SIM card tray and flash the international version software on my T-Mobile variant I should be able to have dual SIM functionality?

This has been done on other model phones and should be the same with this one. It was the same price point for me so I just cut TMO out of the deal. Just be careful flashing other firmware, if you are a TMO customer you wouldn't want to loose Band 71.

[Q] Data from both sim cards?

I am in search of a dual sim phone, and I consider the zenfone 2 a good candidate.
However, it is vital to me that the phone can support a data connection from both sim cards.
Obviously not at the same time, but to switch data connection from one sim card to the other, without having to physically change the sim cards around.
Is this possible on the zenfone 2?

This is possible but sim2 only supports 2g speeds.

Thanks, that's quite a disappointment.
I thought today most other dual sim phones do support 3/4G on both sims?

You will not get data on sim 2 due to Asus blocking it with their firmware. Even though they used an outdated and subpar modem for sim 2, it is still capable of data. Their Zenfone Selfie does contain a dual active dual sim with lte on both sims this their "flagship" phone however used inferior hardware.
Unfortunately this may not be the phone for you in particular if you live in an area such as the U.S. or in Europe where they are shutting down 2G, it's already happening. This "flagship" dual sim phone will soon become a single sim for many of us.
I've actually talked to Asus about this and was told this is their "Flagship" phone and it is "Premium LIKE". I asked what he meant by "Premium Like" and he said it was comparable to other high end phones with compromises made on using lessor hardware. LOL, it's a knock off then, no different than buying "Prada" bags out of someones car trunk. I've had to deal with Asus on a couple of issues with their phone and have to say, I would NEVER buy anything again from them.

eSim T-Mobile

Hello everyone, Just would like to know if anyone tried to activate their Pixel 3 XL eSim on T-Mobile? If it's possible, do I need to have a physical sim from a different carrier? Will eSim work overseas when roaming? Thanks

I was able to activate my esim on tmobile when people were going through the 'back door' method of not ever mentioning that they want to activate the esim. There has been threads on Reddit that they are no longer allowing that and that customer service is catching on and no longer allowing activations of esim on tmobile.
You do not need another physical sim from another carrier as your phone will work fine with just tmobile esim. Having that physical sim available will allow you to pretty much go with any other secondary carrier that you want to (just can't use both at once)
As far as the overseas when roaming, that I have to defer to as I don't (or haven't) traveled overseas yet. I would 'imagine' that it would work just as if you had a physical sim in your phone as many European carriers already use esim and is not a new technology over in the European countries.

Did you notice any difference in the signal reception? Is it the same as the physical sim, better or no different? Thanks

I haven't noticed any difference in signal.
After 5 or 6 times trying using different methods (Twitter, FB, app/site chat, etc.), I finally convinced a rep to activate my eSIM a couple of days ago. It does take some massaging to get them to agree to it. Most of the time I was told there wasn’t a way to activate on postpaid. In the end, I experienced faster loading times on sites and faster downloads my video and podcast apps.

Anyone tried Simore Speed ZX Dual Sim Adapter?

I decided to get US Unlocked version of Note10+. It has the most comprehensive LTE band compatibility among all models which benefits T-Mobile users. But I do like the dual sim option offered in other oversea models since I need to receive verification text message from another international sim occasionally.
Came across Simore Speed ZX-Twin Galaxy Note 10+ dual sim adapter. Its basically a tiny piggyback that should fit inside a case. Has anyone used similar device? How is battery consumption and LTE speed impact if any?
I looked at a video online. Looks like it works. What I cannot tell is if you can recover calls on both numbers all the time, or if the switch to the second SIM is the equivalent of removing one sim and inserting another. I have the dual SIM F/DS and both numbers make my.phonr ring any time (unless I'm on a call but I can direct the other to VM, or do a follow me to the number I'm on). I agree that it misses certain bands (which I'm sure results in me not getting great data speed in the US), but it's a compromise.

SM-N9750/DS and SM-N9760/DS questions. (incomplete search information)

Hello,
I have done the searching hear and it seems that there is incomplete information at best.
I need a dual sim as I carry a work phone and a personal phone.
I don't want to lose my number so I want to get a minimal plan to receive calls and texts and work number must be ATT.
Currently, I am on Verizon. My understanding is that Verizon is going GSM so will it work in these two variants? Not that it matters, just wondering. Have no problem switching.
If I get these variants am I going to have to always use work around to get google services?
Is google assistant working or not?
Is Samsung and/or Google pay going to be dead?
Is my assertion that paying for the 9760 variant would be of no advantage to the 9750 as 5g will never work with the 9760?
Are these phones ACTIVE dual sim meaning I have two running numbers ACTIVE at all times. No switching.
Are there adapters that anyone knows of that I can covert my current Note 10+ US unlocked to ACTIVE dual sim?
Will I suffer much in Orlando with the missing bands?
I appreciate anyone's experience using these phones in the US market and thoughts/opinions on if it is worth it to switch or just explore Samsung alternatives.
Regards

Both 9750 and 9760 are Dual SIM, 9750 is 4G and 9760 is 5G.
I'm not sure how it works with US service providers, however you can check here for the bands they support :
https://www.samsung.com/cn/smartphones/galaxy-note10/specs/ (N9760, don't forget to select Note10+ 5G)
https://www.samsung.com/hk_en/smartphones/galaxy-note10/specs/ (N9750)
On 9750, all the Google apps are pre-installed. On 9760, GMS framework is pre-installed but you need to manually install the apps, and I didn't manage to make Google location history work.
On 9750, maybe you can try Samsung Pay, but on 9760 it won't work.
Don't know if 9760 will work with 5G in the US, however in Europe it's fine. 9760 does not have mm Wave
For Dual SIM, there is an option called as "Dual SIM always on" that says : "Receive calls from both SIM cards. Some limitations may apply", maybe that's what you want.
9750 user here. Google Services is preloaded and working. Phone runs Dual Sim Dual Standby meaning both phone numbers can be reached at all times unless one of the sim is in-call. The option dual sim always on allows you set up call forwarding to the sim that's taking a call so that you can take the phone call from the other sim if needed. For data, only one sim card will be active, you will need to switch sim to use data on another sim. The main catch is that the phone is not compatible with LTE advanced in the US, so you might experience slower speed compared to the US Note10+
My phone N9750 csc BRI (taiwan) . All good

Question Does the OnePlus 11 (U.S version carrier unlocked) support Dual Active Sims?

I'd like to buy a OnePLus 11 from amazon but does it support dual active sims? I'd like to be able to load balance my data between the 2 sims from different carriers. Is this possible?
Or combine the data throughput from 2 sims from the same provider. Is this possible?

Yes it does. You can use two physical sims or one physical and one esim. I use two physical sims. Verizon and T-Mobile.
As for how dual sims work in Android... You select which sim you want to use data one. You don't use data from both sims at the same time. Though, you can easily pick which one you want the data for.
Both will be able to send and receive calls and texts. Though you pick your primary/default sim for what calls and texts default to.
Thank you!, Now if I can just figure out rooting so I can get call recording going.
That's not dual active. That is dual standby. You won't find any phone with dual active sim in US.
Did you need to buy a dual Sim tray?
Thanks
Oneplus has 3 sim slots: dual nano sim tray and one esim.
Tried to dual esim and sim together but some reason on sim can do nothing but text can't use it for calls since I want esim for data
Well if u use esim and sim, sim can't be Verizon
