Can someone make a statement (any instructions would be helpful as well)as to whether or not I can root and flash a T-mobile Galaxy SII from an OS X box.
Will Hemdall work on OS X? Could I run Odin from a Virtual Machine (on VMwares Fusion)?
Or should I find a Windows box for this operation?
Thanks.

Nope, doesn't work on Mac computers you should be able to run it in a virtual machine though or if you have boot Camp running on your Mac with Windows or linux on one of the partitions. Check the DEVELOPMENT SECTION for further details.
Would someone mind posting a USB log from a successful ODIN flash?
I'd like to get Heimdall working (see issue #29 on the Heimdall github), but it appears that the Loke protocol has changed for this mobile, and basically, Benjamin is both busy and physically located in Australia. So, either one of us has to do it, or he has to have logs and we can test patches for him.
Better than that would be if one of us (or I, myself) groks the log, writes a patch to get it working, and just requests that he pull it.
I'm asking here because I can't post in dev forums yet; if this is the wrong place, please do post for me and reply here with where the thread got moved to (although that is suboptimal because I would have to post updates on my progress somewhere on one of these general Q&A threads).
Thanks!!!
I successfully used fusion on osx to run Odin on not a problem to be found. Good luck with your fire cracker

Not for OS X, for Linux (though, once it's working, OS X benefits also), and not because ODIN can't be used on a Windows VM, but because it's way faster/better to use a native tool for turning iterations building new roms (esp. AOSP) if you don't have to boot a VM or keep it running in the background.
But I do understand being scared to brick a shiny new toy
I have been looking around alot. Could someone tell me if the Boost mobile version of the Epic Touch 4g touch is the Exact same as the sprint version? It comes with ics out of the box but i want to root, install recovery and get jellybean. Is it safe and is it the same process for rooting or is it completely different?

Hi,
I know that it is safe to flash AT&T roms on our 889 or 889V note II but if we do so, when we go to settings, we se I317 under device name.
Its not really a big deal because i can connect without any problem on a windows computer.
My only problem is when I was on Ubuntu (latest version) the usb connection could'nt mount.
If its possible to post a guide, will it bother the developpers?
