Hi all.
I was wondering if it is possible to develop an sms application whereby as well as all the usual info you type in eg recipient name, number, message etc, you could have a way to control and set the outgoing 'from' number as well.
This would be handy where some of us are forced to carry two phones around with separate contacts on each.
maybe its not possible but id love to have something like that to simplify life instead of spending multiple messages explaining why id like the reply to a different phone number. ( and no we are not allowed to transfer contacts )
Thanks Guys.

oops sorry guys, wrong thread. reposting!
I have just purchase the above PDA (ROM:1.56.721.3 dated 29.08.07) with radio version 1.27.2.11. When I receive a local call from contact, the name of the caller does is not displayed. Only the phone number (7 digits). However, when I receive an SMS, the name of the same caller is displayed. If I remove the country code in the contact number and leave the local number only, then the name of the caller is displayed. In that case, the name is not displayed when I receive and SMS from that contact. Can you please help?
I've got the same problem. After upgrading I imported all my contacts from outlook and the phone doesn't display contact name on receiving a call.
I created a contact using the phone contacts app and that is recognised when it is called.
Something different between an imported contact and one created using WM6 contact app?
Anybody know what is going on here?

Hello all,
I was wondering if there is a fix for SGS i9000 for Rogers/Fido name display. I get the name correctly on my phone while the number is ringing, however, when I answer or don't pickup the call, I just get the number.
Thank you
i don't follow...
when i miss i call i get the normal SMS from 8888 telling me that i missed a call from such and such from the phone number that phoned me
and in the phone call log, i see the little red arrow that i missed a call with the name and phone number of the contact
if it was not a contact then it just shows the phone number (which is normal of all previous cell phones i've used)
so... what exactly is not working for you?
I don't have that feature that would send me an SMS with the name and number. I just have a "Name Display and Caller number" feature. On FIDO supported phones any person that calls, even if that person is not in the contact list, his/her name would display. On my phone, SGS i9000M, Name Display works only while the phone is ringing....

that is correct
this is how it works normally on any cell phone that i've had with Fido
only displays the name when it's ringing
it doesn't save the name, it never did for any of my previous cell phones
that's only for people that are not on your contact list
And I guess the question was if there is a way to have the name not only the number in the call log after the call is completed. Is there a fix for this? Thx

well there is nothing to FIX because it's not broken
the "Advanced Caller ID" the one that shows you the callers name even though it is not in your contact list, is a network feature
not a phone feature
the build in phone feature will match the caller ID from the network provided number to your contact list then show you the caller name, if it's not in your contact list you will just get the number
that is standard on all phones with caller ID
the trick that the network uses, is that they tag the name of the person calling you along the caller ID number
older phones wouldn't even display the name
newer phones will show the name, but not be able to do anything with it, it just displays it that's all
the build in software on most phones are only designed to save the caller ID number, no extra stuff tagging along.
translation you will need a Developer to come up with a new software to be able to save both the caller ID + the extra strings attached
Just to confirm my old nokia n97 did save the name in missed calls.

I see what you mean, on some phones when someone calls you and you do not have the persons contact saved the following happens:
1. Name is displayed along with the number while ringing.
2. When you look up the phone log the name is in there and when you save the contact it already has the name typed in for you.
On the Galaxy S number 2 does not happen. I dont know how to change it to make it work however, I am interested.
A new software will be required to do that, none of my previous phone had that feature
time to hire an android developer to make and app to do that

I have the same features with Fido and i found it to be annoying that it wouldnt show the callers name(not on my contacts) in missed calls. If its important they can call again lol.
Off-Topic:
I am about to purchase the Captivate from Rogers(finally its out...) but im with Fido, what im wondering is it possible to unlock the phone with the unlock/unfreeze guide located in the dev section. I just dont want to create a new thread for one question
PS. It didnt allow me to post the link to the guide because i just joined, sorry for the trouble lol.
I would appreciate if someone can post a fix for this issue. I'll throw in some money for a fix
Me too!

if you guys really want this feature implemented you'll have to put up a bounty to hire a developer to make an app for that

Good day to all! We need your help at the forum this problem and its solution is not found, the following problem: when an incoming call is displayed on the watch only the phone number of the incoming call without a name and photo. In the contact list, contacts there with the name and photo, missed call notification is displayed with the name, number and photo of the contact. By voice command contact watch to make calls on his behalf. All contacts are stored in a Google account. What could be the problem? Perhaps there are third-party programs to accept a call, maybe they will help me. It may need a Root and change system settings. Who can tell.
PS I apologize for my English helped write the message Google translator
Incoming call

Hi,
How to show while making a call or when I have an incoming call the organization/company name.
I mean when I have an incoming call the name surname and phone number are shown but the organization/company name is not visible like on other phones (the organization/company name is written under the contact details).
Is there a setting which I missed?
Regards!
Is there anyone who knows what to do?
Is this problem bothering only me?
Regards!
