Just yes (thanks the one who corrected me)

Correct me if I'm wring but the answer is yes for the snapdragon variant and no for the exynos variant. Because aptX is a proprietary Qualcomm technology exclusive to snapdragon SoC.

I'm on Exynos and aptx is active and in use
Apt x yes
Apt x hd no. No Samsung device is equiped with apt x hd unfortunately.
Thanks everyone for your help.

I'm really curious to find out the difference between exynos/mail and the adreno/1.5ghz. If anyone had chance to compare them CRITICALLY (since they would both fly imo lol) could you share your opinions? Thnks!

I have both this and a Sprint Galaxy S2 with the same Exynos/Mali is the international, and they seem fairly comparable.
I haven't noticed a big speed difference anywhere in day-to-day use in the few days that I've had both.

In the couple of days I've had both, I haven't been able to notice any consistent difference in anything except benchmarks. They really seem pretty similar.

Thank you couple more questions! Does the hercules have korean as a language option? And which of the 2 sgs2 do you reckon has a better sound output through headphones? I'm trying to find out whether it has wolfson or yamaha dac lol

I'm pretty sure all Galaxy S2 use the inferior Yamaha DAC. You'll have to go another manufacturer or last-gen to get Wolfson as far as I know.
I can't check for you on stock on language, but my Hercules running Juggernaut has Korean as a language option.

Really, that sounds interesting. You got a link?
If one of them would have it, it should really be ours, which is a real oddball in the family.

Well it's not our phone that has the superior audio chip, we've got the Yamaha chip as anadtech.com had a review that tested the specs of this vs the Wolfson.

Does anyone have any idea what the DAC of the model with the S4 Pro is seeing as the new Nexus device will more than likely have the same DAC?

I would like to know about this as well
What if it's a Wolfson chip?
what a coincidence.. I've been wondering about this myself.
I sincerely hope it's Wolfson. Although I'm not horribly familiar with DAC's, Wolfson has done my captivate right.
Qualcomm's SOCs use custom DACs made by Qualcomm (the Exynos Galaxy S III had a Wolfson, but the S4 one was Qualcomm made). Apparently, it is pretty decent though http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ne-x-isnt-amazing-at-all-even-by-the-numbers/
Supposedly the Qualcomm one is just as good as Wolfson DACs though.

He said he was gonna try to get voodoo for the s4 gs3. There's no technical reason that voodoo can't work on qualcomm chips. Supercurio is just more familiar with wolfson.

I think it's the same Qualcomm WCD9310 that is in US Galaxy S III, Nexus 4, etc. Specs are here:

The point is that it has been superseded by newer technologies, I.e. hdmi and Miracast etc.
Given the need to cram more technology into smaller and smaller spaces, something had to give.

While I don't place all that much emphasis on benchmarks, I must admit that I was wondering why the gs4 seemed to perform so much higher than others... Doesn't take away from the fact that the phone CAN perform tasks those levels. Just that doing so on a regular basis would undoubtedly reduce battery life to some degree.
Waiting for someone to call this "benchmark-gate" or something along those lines. Or perhaps Apple will find some obscure reason to file a patent lawsuit over this..

Just the international variant. With the not so US 4G version aka snapdragon, it ramps the speeds to maximum

Have you had a chance to test this yet? I can't seem to find it for sale anymore anywhere It was only $20 on Best Buy's website earlier last month...ugh!

I bought that Tronsmart for $30. I know Chromecast may enable screen mirroning at some point, but the extended display looks very useful to me to use with my notebook. Anyway, I live in Brazil, so it's gonna take a couple of mounths to arrive here..

Nah...
That's miracast speed, nothing we can do, really. I saw somewhere Asus is making a "gaming" model that uses a dual-band wireless to get instant mirroring.

I just ordered the Lenovo WD100-SL, will post again and update whether if it works when I receive it. It's supposedly compatible with android 4.2.2 and above.
I have the rocketfish receiver and it works on all my devices on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz but on the moto x it only works on 2.4ghz. Shame because 5ghz has better picture , no artifacts, and if you mirror on 5ghz you can still use 2.4 for WiFi for streaming .

From what I understand, miracast in general kind of sucks because of the poor standardization across brands/devices. I have a lenovo laptop, and I'm hoping the dongle I ordered will work with the laptop's widi feature, as well as my moto x and nexus 7. :fingers-crossed:

yeah thats mostly true but i've used the rocketfish with nexus 7 1st gen (modded to work) nexus 7 FHD, galaxy s3, galaxy s4, and moto x and only had issues with moto x on 5ghz
I just got a Netgear PTV3000 in the mail yesterday, it works well with the Moto X.
Have not had a chance to put it through the paces but was able to briefly test it out on a 32" 720p HDTV.
Screen mirroring looked sharp enough, also tried Netflix and it looked decent but not as "HD" as I would expect, not sure if it was Netflix bandwidth or Miracast itself being the limiting factor. I'll load VLC on the phone this weekend and try playing a local HD file to see what it looks like.
Got the Lenovo WD100 today. Works well with both my moto x and nexus 7. Ironically does not work with my lenovo win 7 laptop... go figure.
