Wireless charging and USB c line out - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

Anybody experiencing an issue when using wireless charging and using a USBc line out to radio. That it will pause charging and start again and again till you pull the USBc out then wait a min then put it back in or you restart the phone. Plus it kicks it out of fast wireless charging too. Any thoughts?

Yep. Mine is doing the same on android 10 and I have the official Samsung C-Line out. Trying to Fast Wirelessly Charge. As soon as it is plugged Inuit switches to Wireless Charging (SLOW) -
WTF!? Stupid bug to have

Charging via USB on computer

My device charges very slowly if the display is off. If the display is on it does not charge at all.
I've installed the Samsung drivers from the website. Is anyone else able to charge their device via USB? I need to know if I should exchange mine.

I was able to charge my sgs2 yesterday at work through the usb port. It might be the phone, or maybe the usb port you are trying to use doesn't have enough juice to charge the phone? have you tried another usb port on the computer?
usb will always charge really slow compared to an wall outlet
Yes I have tried multiple ports, computers, and cables. Oh well, I guess I'll live with it.

USB supplies max 500mA. Is probably half what the wall charger is giving you. Nexus S is only 750. My guess gsII is 1000 (1A). iPad charger is 2A.
Edit: no a higher power one than the stock charger won't charge the phone faster in a noticeable way. Charging circuits in remotely modern phones limit current to that safe max. If they don't you're probably risking damaging your phone.

I understand that the USB on the computer is weaker. I was surprised to see that when the phone was connected to the computer, screen on, and streaming music that my battery was actually reducing slowly. I would expect the opposite and this behavior seems abnormal.

that's exactly the reason why in car i use the 2A charger (2000 mAh), and in house i use 1000 mAh wall charger
if i leave it at the computer USB charging, i've to keep it iddle for it to charge after like... 4+ hours
that's usually what i do at the work place, so i keep the battery topped up, for when i need to jump back in the road
as long as you have WiFi on, or 3G/4G on, or if the CPU is in high activity, you'll never see the charge ever reaching the battery.
i always keep a spare wall charger at the office as well for times when i need a quick charge
Thanks for the input everyone! I'm glad it's not defective cause I love this phone!

My issue is a little different but decided against another thread. My phone will not charge with any other cable. Has to be pluged in to oem cable. I left it all night on my old phones charger and woke up with it almost dead. Plugged into oem it just charges super slow. Should i take it back?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Does the other micro USB cable work with other devices? If not, might be a defective cable.
On a side note, who prefers to charge via 500mah vs 1A? I have been charging my phone since day one using my printer, as well as my old Iphone. My battery performance is great! +24 hours on a single charge with moderate browsing 50/50 wifi and 4g. I typically enable the "power save" feature with minimal brightness and 15 sec screen timeout.
I worked on other devices

[Q] Charging problem
I have an issue that has popped up today. When charging through PC, the phone (not battery) is getting pretty hot and losing charge. I'm not sure what could be causing it. I stopped all extra processes and turned off the screen. This is not occurring when the phone is off.

Charging while in use (or lack there of)

Is it me or does this thing not charge while in use? I'm using the a/c adapter btw
It works for me when hooked up to my laptop. It goes slower depending on how many resources are being used. My G1 wouldn't charge while navigation was on for instance and my Nexus S barely charged at all while I was navigating.

All I'm doing it texting and surfing. I' trying to charge it before I board my 8 hour flight to Europe. I have two movies on here I want to watch and the charge has only gone down since I plugged it in. It just slows down the rate. I'm starting to think my Galaxy Nexus is a dud. I barely get 9 hours with light use. My brightness is always below halfway.
I guess I'm alone on this issue, or nonissue I should say
With the AC adapter that doesn't happen to me but with the car adapter I can't figure out a way for it to charge instead of lose battery while using Navigation and Bluetooth. All car chargers are detected as USB and I have tried several adapters... (purchased and returned 3 different adapters including Samsung one and have 3 other adapters myself)
bump......
Not charging while on car charger
I'm having the same issue. I find it difficult to believe there are a limited number of us with this problem.

Are you using the AC charger that came with the phone or an old one/third party? You could be running into the same issue as the guy with the car charger(see below). Not all microusb chargers are created equally.

Make sure the car charger you're using is at least a 1AMP charger. Anything less than that and the phone will use a USB charging mode. You can see the ampage of a particular charger on the bottom/backside. Its usually in very small print but its there.
BTW the Galaxy Nexus can actually run off wall paper alone(i.e. no battery inserted) on a 2.1AMP charger that comes with most tablets these days. I use my Galaxy Tab charger for it!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
as unremarked said, you need a 1AMP car charger to get it to work. i had to buy a new one.
As far as the AC charger, the one that the phone came with i had issues charging, but i went back to a black berry charger i bought as a replacement for my nexus one, and i can be playing cordy on that and the battery stays charged.
I have a verizon charger leftover from my Droid 1 and I drove across the country a few days ago using navigation 100% of the trip. I also had a few hours of conversation and regularly streamed podcasts and music. I did all of this with the extended battery at a full charge always. The charger was never even noticeably warm. The trip took 3 days and I didn't charge over night so each day started below a full charge.
I suspect you have a problem with one of three things. Either the phone has a bad charging component, your battery is defective or your charger has less output than it claims.

Most USB chargers are only 500mA. Which isn't a lot considering it takes 2100mA just to keep it on.

It's happening again, I can't use this thing while charging. I put it in airplane mode and it still dies while I'm using it. It doesn't shutdown either, it just cuts off. It's plugged into the wall btw.

Yeah I did. I've never had this issue with any phone that I've owned.
make sure it's charging in 'AC Mode' and put a chunk of dry ice underneath it w/ some protection in between.

If you did, then you'd realize its less likely an issue with your phone and more likely you're using a charger that doesn't push enough power to the phone.

Its the one that came with the phone, 1A 500V, pretty standard these days.
A few comments:
All USB cables are not alike. Not all transmit the proper power. So with your AC adapter, you might try other USB cables to have the phone see it as "AC" and not "USB".
The Verizon car charger does work properly with the Galaxy Nexus, and is seen as "AC" power. Interestingly, if you use the 2nd USB port, even with a cable that does function correctly, it is still seen as "USB" and not "AC". So only the primary connection there will provide full power.
I'm also still looking for a car charger, other than Verizon's, that will be seen as "AC" - I'd get the Verizon one, but don't like the "curly" cord, since I'm duct taping it across my dash, and it's a lot more bulky than a regular straight cord.

If it takes 2100ma to keep it on it would never ever charge on any charger.
Also, considering the fact the battery is only 1750mah that mean the device would only stay on for around 45 minutes before being fully discharged if it wasn't plugged in.
Somehow your figures are a bit off.

How does a USB cable "not transmit the proper power?" What is "proper power" as opposed to "improper power?" Power goes through the RED wire in the USB cable. That's a USB spec. Either it carries current or it does not.
Some devices need to see 2 USB pins to be jumpered in order to set charge on (the Galaxy Tablet is notorious for this which is why you can buy a special cable adapter to create this jumpered charger pin if you are not using their "special" charger. This adapter allows you to to be able to charge the tablet off USB which it normally won't do, faking the tablet to make it think it's on the AC charger, albeit very slow).

What I meant is that using the official Verizon car charger, I connected my Galaxy Nexus with the built-in micro USB connector, and my phone showed it to be charging, and the source recognized as "AC". I then tried connecting it using a couple of different cables, using the secondary USB slot on the Verizon charger:
When I used the cable from my wife's LG Env Touch, my Galaxy Nexus didn't show it as charging at all. It apparently wasn't receiving enough to even be recognized as "USB" charging.
When I used the cable that came with my Galaxy Nexus, plugged into the same USB port on the Verizon charger, my phone showed it being charged, but with the source shown as "USB".
So the type of cable will impact whether or not a given adapter will even charge the phone. And the charger itself also has an impact.
To get the phone to charge, and the source recognized as "AC" you are going to need the right charger and cable. As I said, the Verizon charger, using the built-in cable, works fine.

Discharging while charging

Does anyone have issues where they are using their phone (just for simple tasks) and noticed your battery is draining significantly? Like right now, I'm typing and my battery just went down another percentage point while posing this.

charging off USB or the wall? USB or car chargers often can't keep up with the drain of LTE phones if you're using them at all.
I'm on AC right now. I have a power strip that sits at the foot of my bed that provides my devices juice.

At which battery level % did this occur?
I'd say if it happens between the 100% to 95% range, its normal, as I have seen that with other phones too.
If it happens at any other percentage, maybe you're charger adapter is not supplying enough power, but that should not be an issue with the stock charger that came in the box.
Have you checked that it's actually charging at AC rate ? I was surprised to find that the charger for my Palm Pre 2 was charging @ USB, I swapped the cable for the one for my TouchPad (same charger) and it changed to AC charging. I'll try different cable and charger combinations when I get time.
Install "Battery Monitor Widget" and monitor the charging rate under mA.
I use the plug that came with the phone a usb to the ac adaptor. I install the app will see tonight when i charge. Also an other point when i charge at night arround 10 pm 5% in the morning wake up at 6 am my phone is charge at 95 to 97% so not fully charge plug all night

It says it's charging USB, not AC.
What does Settings -> Battery say when plugged in, AC or USB ?
Ok for some reason the adaptor that came with the phone when I charge say usb but when I use same adaptor and an other usb cable a blackberry one its say AC. What the...?

Install BetterBattery to figure out what apps are being hung up (partial wakelocks) and re-install them. This drastically increased my battery life!
Also, the screen on wastes the most battery. Try dimming your brightness
Get a 1A charger.

Its the cable. Some USB cables have the data wires shorted or missing altogether and these USB cables are known as charging cables. All they can do is charge the phone. In AC mode. Bought a USB charging cable on amazon for 7 bucks now my car charger charges in AC mode.

Charging gets interrupted

Hi Everyone,
This happens every now and then - wondering if anyone is seeing the same thing.
The scenario is this:
My phone will be on my desk, charging. Notification light is blinking showing it is charging.
Phone suddenly wakes up, showing the lockscreen. Charging stops, as if the power usb isn't connected.
I have to then plug/unplug the power to get it to start charging again.
This is happening with a 1 amp charger I always used to charge my Note 1 - it's the one I use at work.

I don't see why this would be true. I was wondering if you need a minimum amperage to charge the phone.
But most of the time, it charges up just fine, outside of the occasional interrupt.
It also charges up in my car charger.

Good luck.

same happens with my s3. actually started when it got the official JB update.
thing is; I always use its original charger...
fullwipe didn't help.
It seems the beast Is lowering the amount lt pulls to the available ampera ge and one step under that. This could explain the situation I guess.

There have been numerous cases reported here where the usb cable was loose in the socket due to the way the bezel protrudes, preventing full seating of the plug in the socket. Try jiggling the cable while charging and see if it interrupts.
If so, you may have to shave off some plastic from the usb plug to allow it to completely seat.

Wow..same thing happen to me. I thought im the only one with this problem. Im using my old htc charger 1A + original note 2 cable charger. So what did i do, i try to change the cable with others htc brand micro usb cable which i buy later. Problem solve!!
Not sure what is the real problem..is it the 1A current not enough for battery 3100mA charging, or the original cable charger which suppose for 2A flow is not suitable for 1A flow??

OTG charging not resuming after reboot

i got a in car install using elementalx kernel with otg charging enabled. but i have an issue. i use tasker to turn the device off after 10 minutes of being off the charger and i have the charger set to turn on with the car. well it works fine except until i go to turn the car back on the tablet turns on like it recognized a charge(tablet turns itself on when charger is connected) but yet soon as it gets into the home screen its not recognizing a charge and after 10 min it turns off from tasker... this only seems to happen with otg charging i brought the tab inside and tested on a wall charger without otg and it did just fine. does anyone know whats the issue with it charging on otg after a reboot?
btw im running cm11 with elementalx. not android 5
no one?
Having the same problem have to physically reconnect charger, anyone?
