I am able to text images to people and they get them with issues. If anybody sends me one it didn't come thru. There is a link that says download and I get a busy cursor and it never downloads. I have tried clearing the cache and clearing the data for the stock messages app. I have tried using Google messages and the same thing happens. Any ideas how to fix this?

Did you check your APN settings and make sure they are right?
Check the APN setting for your carrier, I've had same problem in the past and it was always a problem with the APN setting.
It was working fine until Friday. I will check the apn and see though
It was working fine until Friday and didn't make any apn changes. I just looked and the settings all are what they should be. Sorry for the double pay. My app didn't refresh properly

Are you using a custom DNS entry or some sort of DNS changer? This can and does on occasion break MMS capabilities. I have had this problem and by disabling the custom entry (or app) MMS returns to normal.
Did you do anything or make any changes to or with the phone at all prior to MMS not working?
You could also contact your provider and see if they have any seevice problems or issues. It is possible that there maybe a problem on the providers end.. either provisioning, account setting or something else.
They also may need to refresh the device on the network, sometimes when things like that happened to me this usually solved it.
Two other things you can try and/or check.
If your roaming or not. Depending on the provider and plan you might not be able to send mms while roaming. Either they do not offer data use while roaming, or else a data limit is in use (and you hit that limit).
Try resetting the network settings. On your phone it would be under settings > General Management > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will rest all the network settings back to default. Only draw back to this is any saved bluetooth devices and WIFI access points will be lost, so you will have to enter them in again.
I had an issue with mms once too and no matter what i did it wouldnt correct itself. Even factory reset. I changed the sim card to a new one and it worked. Dont know why but it worked. If you have an extra one try that.
I had the same exact issue! It started around Oct. 11th. I didn't even know that I was missing images from friends...they thought I was ignoring their texts. This problem was driving me nuts. I had been searching everywhere for answers and can't believe you described the same exact problem.
I'm on an Unlocked N10+ & I flashed the ATT firmware months ago and thought this might have something to do with it. I never owned an Unlocked phone before. Turns out that it was my own user error -->
I hadn't changed any of the APN settings. I was using Pulse SMS, tried Google Android Messages then the stock SMS app. No luck. I reset the network settings around 4 times. I thought this was the fix because it seemed to work for awhile but only with the stock messaging app. New images came in at first & I could only retrieve those older missing photos for the current day. The missing images were all listed as Unknown Caller. Later on in the day, I wasn't receiving images again...in any SMS app.
I was going to restore/reset my phone today but before that I started backing items up and checked my backed up SMS messages and the 2 recent ones said Oct. 31st!!!. WTH!?!
I then went into my Date/Time settings, I toggled the switch on and off again for the Automatic Date and Time. Re-selected my Time Zone and made sure that the Date and Time were accurate. They weren't...
I'm sure that this is where I screwed everything up because I had set my date (a couple of times in the past few weeks) ahead 5 days to see if I'd get the latest software/firmware update. I forgot to switch something back to my usual (and accurate) date & time setting which includes setting my time zone.
So far, this process seemed to work. I'm once again getting SMS/MMS images and videos within Pulse SMS.

I have now had my TP2 for nearly a week and I am generally very pleased. However, there are a couple of problems that may be me or may be the phone that I have not in my ignorance been able to resolve.
Firstly with the calendar, if I enter a new appointment with specific times it shows on the home page and in the month and day display. If I make it an all day appointment of a reoccurring appointment it is not displayed and I have to disable Touchflo to get into the full calendar to find the appointment. This means the only way I am able to see appointments entered is if each is entered daily with specific times. Pretty useless if I have weekly appointments for the year (I would have to enter individually 52 times) or all day appointments / reminders.
Secondly, the You Tube application comes up with an “Unable to find a network” error message when ever I try to run it. I have no trouble with PIE, Opera, e-mail etc, only you Tube. (If I go to You Tube in PIE or Opera all is fine, it is just the You Tube application causing problems.
I have searched but have not found any postings that seem to answer these problems. Any help is gratefully received.
The Phone has an unlocked HTC standard rom on TMobile UK.
Many thanks
KJR
Update
I spent my lunch resetting and then hard resetting and seem to have calendar working properly. I backed up and restored and it still works OK, which is odd (but pleasing) as I would have thought I would be restoring what ever the problem was.
I still cannot get the You Tube applet to work and can find no setting that would allow me to alter how it finds the network.

You might have the proxy server setting active in advanced network settings, just remove the tick box if you do

Yes, that is necessary.
Also, with T-Mobile UK, you have to ensure their 'content lock' feature is disabled before the Youtube app will work. New T-Mobile accounts have content lock enabled by default (to protect minors from certain 'entertainment' sites). To remove the lock, you can either log into your T-mobile account online and follow the 'Phone settings' link, or call customer services and get them to do it.
Thanks
I checked proxy settings and they are disabled. It is not a major problem, just an annoying niggle as I can access You Tube via PIE etc. but it seems odd that the applet deesigned especially for the job doesn't work!
I had Youtube working out the box on T-Mob but couldnt get the facebook app or Microsoft MyPhone to connect.
I ended up setting up a second data connection with the settings:
general.t-mobile.uk
user
pass
And everything else left blank and on Auto and they then connected ok. Give that a shot and see if it helps.
I had the same youtube problem. It seems to be solved now, what I did was connect via wifi (which worked fine) and when I turned wifi off and connected over the air it worked.
I've got a bit of weird problem on HTC Desire.
I've noticed that whenever I'm using my mobile internet data (Vodafone Aus), I can't actually do any sort of web browsing, but I can use the facebook app, update the weather widget, retrieve email from hotmail + Gmail etc, basically everything that needs internet access except use the browser.
I've tried both the default and Dolphin HD with no luck - Google home page will load but that's only because its in the cache - I can't do any new Google searches etc.
I know the phone can access websites because I can browse the net when I connect to my uni's WiFi, or any other WiFi.
Wondering if there's some kind of mobile internet setting I should be changing that I'm not aware that might solve this?
I know I should call Vodafone and ask them to check if there's somehow a problem on my account on their end but figured I might ask on here first to see if anyone else has had anything like this happen before I do so - just so they don't turn around and tell me its the phone.
(when I went in to set up the plan, the lady specifically told me that they took no responsibility for their services working on a "non Vodafone phone")
Oh and I don't think its worthy to note, but just in case:
ever since I switched to the contract from pre-paid I haven't been able to send international text, despite having roaming activated. Since I switched plans when I got the new phone, I can't actually determine if its the contract, the phone, or both that's not letting me send (but I suspect its Vodafone - something else I need to hassle them about)
Any help would be awesome
Sounds like you don't have some settings. Give Vodafone a ring and see if they can send the correct settings to your phone. They won't take responsibility but they can help you like that since your using their service. If that doesn't work, have a look in the APN settings.

Thanks Meaple, I'll have a go, although Vodafone generally redirects you to their website where you input your phone model and it gives you the APN values you need to put in, which I have done.
Having said that, I can't send MMS with my phone despite having their APN values, so I know the MMS part must be wrong somehow
- I didn't think it could be the APN because the internet isn't completely inaccessible? Is it possible for apps to be able to use the net while the browser can't?
Never mind - Solved my problem.
In my attempt to fix my MMS problem way back, I changed settings around and stupidly added the "MMS Port" and "MMS proxy" as the proxy + port for internet, without realising the actual options for those two were further down.
- Deleted those, and went back and re-did the setup for the MMS as per vodafone instructions, setting up a separate "VF PXT" APN
(in my search for solutions I'd found a post somewhere saying you could combine the information for MMS and internet into 1 APN, and that's what I had done)
Cheers for nudging me to re-check APN settings, Meaple
Ok i have searched and searched and searched some more and can not find an answer. Hopefully i am placing this in the correct place.
I am currently running Synergy. I am having issues with receiving and sending pictures via messaging app (stock and I've also tried Handcent). I guess I can't even say its an issue, it just does not flat out work. I can not send or receive pictures.
When I receive a picture message, it comes through with a click able download button. Click it, and nothing happens for a few minutes. Them shortly after, I receive a notification stating, "Message not downloaded, Generic network failure"
Pretty much same goes for when trying to send one. It attaches fine and compresses for MMS but then I get pretty much the same notification a few minutes later, "Unable to send message after multiple attempts, Generic network failure."
I have attempted numerous ways of fixing this to no avail. I tried turning off WiFi, that didn't work. Re-flashed Rom, no go. I was thinking perhaps I need to update radios, pri,prl ect? I am trying to avoid a hard reset as i don't want to lose root. Any ideas on a fix?
I recently had this problem too. I found the fix here on the forum. If you have titanium back up you need to start it up. Click backup/restore then scroll down to [SMS/MMS PREFS] Messages 1.00. Click on that and then click wipe data. You will lose all your messages so back them up if you need them. Reboot your phone afterwards. This is what I did and it fixed this problem.

Thanks for the reply. That sure sounds like it would do the trick. I tried and it didn't work when I scroll down to mms preference in TB mine is 3.xxx (something) not 1.0 like you had said. Not sure what that's all about. I went ahead and cleared data anyway and rebooted. When I opened TB after restarting it still said I had 1 backup. So I'm thinking for some reason it didn't wipe it. Getting so frustrated.

TB seems to bring issues when restoring text messages from older versions of texting apps. The new stock version has a backup feature within...give it a shot and good luck!
Sorry it didn't work.

@Orion1222
I tried the same thing and it didn't work at first. When following the post I didn't see any SMS/MMS/APN dialer that the post mentioned. I didn't see it because TB said the apps were ordered by name, but the sms/mms pref and apn dialer don't follow that rule.
Carefully look through and find both of them, then wipe the data and follow the rest of the #4 in the post.
I hope that helps!
Alright, I have a truly annoying problem with Galaxy Nexus. After every month or two of use my phone loses completely the ability to connect to gTalk and push cloud to device messages. I'm not using any strange apps either and have not installed anything for a while.
My connection bars become grey and before someone suggests that this is an account issue and that 'I have lost connection to Google servers' then no: bars are only grey on Galaxy Nexus when gTalk and C2DM fail. Bars are grey but I can still access Market and Gmail and my phone still syncs Calendar and Contacts.
The only solution so far has been to completely reset the phone. Which is an epic annoyance. I've tried re-adding Google account and no success there either.
What can I do without having to reset my phone again?
So there is no solution whatsoever? It is impossible to fix this without having to reset the phone?
I ended up resetting the phone again and it is truly annoying, since this problem happens only after a month or two and nothing triggers it and the connection does not return even though sync with Google accounts works perfectly.
Might the problem be that I change my SIM card whenever I visit Finland and Google has some unknown security flag that blocks C2DM when same device is using different SIM's frequently?
Because this is insane and I feel like I can't do anything about it.
Don't have your problem, bars turn grey here every now and then but always go back to blue after a few seconds.
Two SIMs might certainly confuse the syncing. Go to Google Dashboard and make sure your phone is listed there. Only the IMEI is listed in Dashboard, though. In the Market it also lists your provider and number, I think.
Obviously you have checked all your accounts&syncing options in the ICS settings?
Rebooting and switching to airplane mode oder WiFi and back does not work either?

Nope. It's happened three times now since I've owned the phone and I've not installed anything fishy, nor do I run any monitoring and task manager or battery saving apps. I basically run all Google services, as well as Twitter, Facebook and some games. I haven't recently installed anything new.
Airplane mode did not work, WiFi or Data modes had the same issue and reboots made no difference either. Internet itself works, auto sync keeps working and Calendar, Gmail and Android Market work exactly as expected. But gTalk and push notifications stop working and do not return even in 24 hours.
The only thing that I do know that I do differently from an average user is that I switch SIM card either for every weekend or every other weekend when visiting my girlfriend in Finland, since I'm using a pre-paid SIM there (that also has data connection).
I don't have any sync or push notifications problems when using either SIM and both have an unlimited data plan. But after about 1-1.5 month suddenly gTalk and push notifications stop working entirely.
As a result I am keen to think that this must be about the SIM card switching (it happened after SIM card switch or close to it), but I don't know how to fix this. Phone reset does work, so it is certainly something that has not got anything to do with my Google Account.
I even tried clearing data and force stopping all Google-related services and apps and rebooted then. It asked for my account information and whatnot again, but the connection stayed grey while other Google account related services were running without issues.
It's a serious pain to reset my phone every month or two.
I am convinced that this is a bug in Android and reported it here.
I'm having an issue with my SMS where after a while they will sit in my inbox trying to send but not actually send or fail. I physically have to reboot the phone for them then to send. S-off, rooted running ARHD 10.2. I'm not sure if it's more network related or handset related as I can receive and everything else works solidly.
Anyone else experienced this?
I am running a similar set up like you, im on ATT, I can't say I've had that problem enough to say its a problem..
Obviously your service is good in that particular area?

Have you upgrade the firmware? Check this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54408500&postcount=9592
US users may wish to try the 2.22.1540.3 fw

Yeh I have upgraded my firmware before flashing 10.2. It's an intermittent problem which is the most annoying thing. In the ARHD post there seem to be at least 2 others with this same issue as well which is strange...

I had an issue with sms notifications after I installed a custom rom. Then learned that my problem comes from the hearbeat interval settings. I think my carrier uses a custom value (5min is default) and since I changed the rom, their settings have not been pushed to my phone.
Testing several things I came across this app. It will not hurt to try it:
Install an app called "pnf push notification fixer". Is free from store.
Set the heartbeat mobile interval to 3 minutes.
Reboot.
Make sure the value did not change itself
Monitor and see if the problem stays the same.
This maintains the connection alive for me.
Have you checked when you experience the issue if the sms carrier center number removes or changes?
On the dialer press *#*#4636#*#*
Select phone info
Scroll down to smsc and hit refresh. Note the number when working. When it stops, repeat the process and check if the number is diff or was removed. You can also hardcode one there.

I had a bit of both. The cellphone was not maitaining the network alive fast enough.
I have the same issue.
I've tried what jmoneste wrote, but the problem still persist. SMS keep failing. Everytime I want a message to be sent I have to activate airplane mode and then desactivate en resend the SMS. It's so annoying.
This problems comes from stock rom and now I'm using the Viper One ROM but it still fails.
Has anyone found the solution?

I too have the sms not sending until put in flight mode and then off it again occasionally. Cant believe that its so common, but theres no fix. My phones completely stock too!
