OTG misfunctioning - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

I have a USB c flash drive. Whenever I copy a file from internal memory to the flash drive, it seems to be successful, but when I expell it and re connect it the file is not readable. This happens with solid explorer, while the internal file app seems not to have this problem. Upon first connection I have the given the access to the flash drive as required. Did anyone have my same problem and find a solution?

File Recovery

I need to recover some pics that somehow got deleted on my phone. Anyone know of a file recovery tool that works for the Nexus? Since the phone used MTP for connections to a PC, the internal drive is not seen as an attached drive like an external sdcard. Therefore, conventional file recovery tools won't recognize the storage.

Cannot Copy - TWRP External SD Mounted

I'm receiving the attached error when attempting to copy files to either the internal or external sd storage when in TWRP. I am able to copy to the internal SD when the phone is booted. It doesn't seem to matter what type of file I attempt to copy, nor does the size of the file. The device also no longer shows up when trying to use ADB.
I'm running TWRP 2.8.4.0, the phone is rooted, usb debugging is enabled.
I've tried two separate USB cables, two separate computers, same result. Both computers running windows 7 x64. I've tried googling the problem, but I haven't been able to really find any good solutions.
Anyone have any ideas?
UPDATE: Able to bring it up with ADB again after flashing a new ROM, but I'm still unable to copy files when mounted in TWRP.

Not able to download via FTP on SD Card Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 Wifi

Hi,
I have recently bought new 64GB Micro SD Card and when i inserted and tried to download directly on card i get error using ES File Explorer. Cannot even move the files from internal memory to sd card ? is there any protection setting ? how can i use ES File explorer to download files via FTP directly to SD Card ?
Please help....
First of all take the sdcard out and hook it up to a pc, do a full write to the sdcard using a program like H2testw 1.4 or USB Flash Drive Tester, Chkflash...etc, there are alot of counterfit cards out there that will appear to work initially but break or erase data as they fill up...
if that test passed and it is a real sdcard then you might have to root your device if it's running kitkat , it's a bug in kitkat where you can't write to the sdcard....if you are rooted you can override this problem.

Thanks for information. I have Genuine Samsung Evo Card and speed test i got is 20MB/sec. So i think i need to root the tab in order to get writing access. But what if i need to update to Lolipop soon when it comes out ? i would be able to update via USB using samsung kies even though i have rooted my tab ?
Thanks...
Use the pre-installed Samsung file manager. It has the right permissions to copy to SD card.
If copying from WiFi, you have to use es file explorer first to copy to onboard storage. Then Samsung file manager to move it from local to SD card. Annoying, but I think it's the only way unless you root
OK, maybe a bit late to the party, but I've found a way to make it work. I've installed Total Commander from the Google Play store. Just opening it shows the address to the sd card. Connect to the Android Device via FTP (Say, through ES File explorer to set it up as a ftp server). In the directory bar of your ftp client type /storage/*address* where *address* is the address shown in Total Commander. You can then navigate trhough the SD card directories to your heart's content.

LG G4 cannot copy files to USB OTG after updating to Marshmallow

I've just bought a new LG G4 H818P. After updating it to Marshmallow, when plugging in an USB OTG of Kingston, ES File Explorer still can recognize and show its name in the disk list.
But when copying any files from internal as well as sdcard to the USB OTG, the error popup shows "Copying task failed".
Same when I open the USB in ES File Explorer, it shows nothing in it although I copied some photos from my PC to it before.
Is anybody encountering same problem, and is there any solution for this? Does Marshmallow not allow to write to USB OTG due to any security reason?
Feeling disappointed as I frequently use USB OTG to transfer files from phone out.
Thanks in advance.

PROBLEM SOLVED, after I re-format the USB with same FAT32 format type on PC.

Transferring Files from PC to Phone

Anyone else having the issue where they can't transfer files from their Win 10 PC to the phone? I have it set to File Transfer mode when I plug it in via USB into the computer. When I pull it up in File Explorer, it says "Phone". Double clicking it shows my MicroSD card and the internal storage. Then when I try to click and drag or Ctrl-C Ctrl-V a file into either spots, nothing happens. I did try enabling USB Debugging mode, but that's not required for a simple file transfer. This is honestly kinda ridiculous. Also, when I'd take my MicroSD and move files from windows to it by connecting it to a USB adapter, the files transfer onto the card, but as soon as I plug it into the phone, all those files disappear in the file explorer and are replaced with a file or folder called System Volume Information. Anyone else having issues??
Nope have copied files from what's app for printing and copied my music to phone storage and external memory card as well,
Sent from my Phone using Tapatalk
I had no issues using the steps you used. I just grabbed my USB-c to USB cable for charging my old oneplus, and it worked.
I used Bluetooth to transfer a few files from my PC to my phone. It worked great
Bluetooth works, plugging in phone (sd card formatted as internal storage), and Teamviewer works. I think I might use Teamviewer as it's similar to a ftp client program, makes it real easy.
What did you format the sd card as? Internal or external storage?

Same here.
For normal files and documents i just use Google Drive, i don't have huge important files i need to have when i am out and about so i am unable to test this as i haven't had a need to plug my phone into a pc for 2-3 years.
Bluetooth would work or an SD Card reader, as there are so many ways to get files between a pc and a phone without a cable its partly why ive not even bother to check the does my phone work with my pc step. Back in the days when you got Software and Drivers for your phone are a thing of the past.
I using wi-fi to transfer files you can easily find an app for that

Which app are you using?
Heya, chiming in here to suggest Airdroid...look it up, useful and needs no plugging in, just used your WiFi networks to do the transfer, very useful tool (I,d like to thank YouTubes Mr Mobile ((Michael Fisher)) for that)
No problem here also...I just use my GoPro5 Type-C Cable with my Razer, and Copy and Paste in Windows Explorer....easy. I recommend you try another cable
Using an anker "normal" usb to usb c cable works fine to transfer files. But I can only transfer files to the SD card, internal storage doesn't appear.
For transfer via WiFi I use es file explorer, it connects fine to windows shares even with needed auth
