Hi,
I got a Galaxy Note 4 SM N910V and when trying to use CF Auto Root it comes up with an error. I have tried Odin 13 and 10.

I suggest doing what I ended up doing. Android 6 is not rootable or at least I could not manage to get it to work. I instead reverted to Android 5.1.1. and then used Kingo Root on the phone itself to root it.
I followed this guide, but instead of flashing the "hybrid firmware" that Kevin has a link to, I followed the steps after that once I had flashed Android 5.1.1.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74521633&postcount=1587
Also, during the rooting process... once Kingo Root says you are rooted, you have to enter the commands that Kevin put in his guide and when Kingo Root told me my phone was rooted I was a bit shocked seeing as I had tried many times prior with no success. Any way, when Kingo Root says you are rooted, enter in the commands provided as quickly as possible. I find that after 20-30 seconds the phone will reboot and lock back up and you'll have to do it all over again. I personally had to do it 4 times I think.
It's definitely worth noting that this phone is the hardest phone I have dealt with for rooting and modding. I have modded the Note 3 and LG G3, the G3 was way harder and the Note 4 takes the pedestal at this point.
I just noticed you said NOTE TWO and not NOTE FOUR. Maybe the guide above isn't for you. I urge you to do as much research as possible before using it. Although I still recommend flashing Samsung's official firmware for Android 5.1.1.... Android 6 is probably your main problem.

Thank you.
I managed to root it after many MANY hours of headache. Also I could never get supersu to root - but magisk worked.
Now i have a rooted sm-n910v on android 5.1. I wanted to root since my power button is dying and i'm crap and taking phones apart...by rooting it i could get an onscreen reboot/off. Very cool.
I looked at lineageOS and development seems dead as of over a year ago...and there are still reports of bugginess..(perhaps I'm wrong...i'd be happy to try if someone could point me to the last lineage OS for the 910v)...
But now I wonder is there anyway way to upgrade to a more current android WITHOUT losing root? I really don't want to re-root it all again
thx
ps..i used this link to root the verizon

Well assuming you have a Note 4 Verizon, I rooted mine, then flashed TWRP on it, then flashed Havoc-OS on it, which is an Official rom and runs android 9 Pie. I'm not sure by your writing whether you have a Note 2 or Note 4 though.

Hi,
I just recently bought a used Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition on ebay. it was a factory unlocked version from singapore from a highly rated seller
This is the tablet ebay item number 281216040890
It is the 32GB 4G LTE Model with a snapdragon 800 chip inside, model name SM-P605.
I started it up and it had Android 4.3 Installed on it with the older interface, the s pen and everything else worked fine just a little laggy. literally every 10.1 2014 edition I had been seeing around had the 4.4.2 Kitkat Update
So I decided to update it myself and maybe a custom rom afterwards.
1) I downloaded an official 4.4.2 Rom from live.samsung-updates
2) Afterwards I downloaded the CF Auto Root files from chainfire
3) And finally I dowloaded the TWRP recovery from here teamw.in/project/twrp2/207
I'm a new user and i'm not allowed to post outside links by the way so I couldn't post direct links. I'm also going to post this in the Note 10.1 general section just to get a wider response.
I followed all the steps to update. Step one went well but then I reached step 2 and I bricked my device after flashing the CF Auto Root, I had a static like screen and went into an automatic infinite boot recovery loop, absolutely no way to turn it off so I had to hold the download mode buttons for like 20 seconds to thankfully get back into download mode. I tried this over 5 times, the CF Auto Root was always bricking my device.
So I skipped step 2 and went straight to step 3 but his time the TWRP recovery menu was faulty and not working at all like it should, tapping button A would open Process D etc. I think this might have been because I didn't have root access.
So I just decided to not have any root and just rock the stock official 4.4.2 like that, then guess what. THE S PEN DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE!!!!
It shows "s pen has been detached" when removed and the air command menu shows up but the floating pointer is missing and no taps, clicks, jotting or writing registers LIKE AT ALL!!!. I know its not the pen because the tablet s pen works fine on my note 3.
I've reinstalled the 4.4.2 firmware multiple times, multiple regions, wiped partition, done factory resets etc. The tablet portion works perfectly but No S pen.
the note 10.1 without the spen is like having a galaxy tab 4 10.1 inch tablet it's just a tablet now with no s pen.
The knox counter has tripped and samsung canada and usa are telling me the baseband version in not north american so they can't help me.
AM I REALLY THIS SCREWED???. SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD DO OR TRY.
THANKS IN ADVANCE.
Open the phone dialer and dial *#2663#
When you see a screen similar to below image check to see if fw version of wacom ic and fw version in kernel image are the same (I'm betting they aren't)
Now just hit the button wacom update kernel binary. It should say updating don't turn off. Wait a moment then bang it's fixed.

The only thing I see is that you probably corrupt something during rooting. Your device can be easily root using "Towelroot" can be found at towelroot.com. You also must use TWRP 2.6.3.3 and make sure you download the right stock firmware. First, use towelroot to root your device, then flash TWRP, then use TWRP to wipe everything (include format sdcard), then reflash your stock firmware. If everything is working ok, then redo root with towelroot. Good luck.

Thank you so much that worked perfectly, not it's time to root my device and install a custom rom.
Thanks again!!!:fingers-crossed:
I am using the device ONLY as a gaming device and have no plans to activate it through Verizon, however, everytime I turn it on, it asks me to activate on the network. I can simply close this and avoid it, but I would prefer to remove this entirely if possible. I tried to root the phone but no matter what rooting tool I use, it fails. Every time.
Can I please get some help? I am more of a Windows Phone person so I don't know much about Android rooting and modding.

If I recall correctly, the Verizon versions of the R800 (Might be the R800x) are somewhat locked down so I doubt you can do much at all 'easily' to be honest.
At the very least, without ROOT access you'll be unable to write to the SYSTEM partition which is what you will likely need to get access to in order to remove the activation message - it'll likely be an application that simply needs deleting. You can definitely get ROOT access on the R800x's though, I think it requires flashing different firmware using flashtool.
I would however stress to not let this particular device put a 'downer' on Android devices for you as a whole - there are only a small few devices locked down like this and the rest of the R800's aren't as restricted. You need an R800i lol.
I've tried to hunt down info to no avail on rooting this model. Every root too I've used has shown no results. The device does not change.

I have r800x rooted by doom method. Depends on what software you are running what root method you will need. Are you 2.3.2?2.3.3?2.3.4?2.3.7?

You can definitely root the R800x on 2.3.4. I've done it on 3 phones.
I posted this thread a while back to inform others of an easy root method using the Cydia Impactor Root tool .... ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55573098 ). You won't see any visible changes after running the root tool (other than seeing su binary placed in system/xbin folder after rooting), but you can install Supersu to manage root applications after you inject the root with Cydia.
You may need to install an older version of Supersu after running Cydia Impactor Root, as I have not tested the newest version of Supersu from the Play Store. You can grab an older Supersu apk from here: ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53636923&postcount=2 ) which I believe would work if the newest Supersu doesn't work. ( Thanks goes to XDA member DocHoliday77 for the supersu apk and of course to Chainfire).
After you gain root, then check out post #7 in this thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55290171 ) to see how to easily install CWM / Clockwork Mod Recovery.
.... (FYI, there's actually another root method called Eroot that also works on the R800x on 2.3.4 and 2.3.3....it's discussed in the same thread above where I said to see how to install CWM .... but I prefer Cydia Impactor method instead).
I hope this helps.

Sorry, I had to.
So, I turned this phone on after about a year since this last post and I decided to give it another go. Finally got it using the Cydia Impact method. BusyBox refuses to work but file browsers are allowing root access to delete the bloatware apps so thats good. Thanks for the help!
New to the forums and everything having to do with rooting and what not, but I may have hard or soft bricked my galaxy s6 yesterday. I searched for hours to find someone with my particular problem and found nothing so I was hoping someone could help me on here. I had successfully rooted my phone and tried to flash a custom rom into the device and I guess it failed and now I can't get out of Odin or download mode. I tried to do the recovery thing where you hold the power, home, vol down then up thing without success. What it does is, it'll reboot, show the Galaxy s6 splash screen for a split second and go right back into download mode. It's android 5.1.1 and I tried downgrading and I get a fail each time. Even tried 5.1.1 firmware also with no success. If anyone can help me with this, I would be so thankful for it since I had to buy an iPhone 4s today lol.

I don't have much experience with device yet, as I have only rooted 5.0.2. With so little available and only TW, I have not made the leap. Hopefully, someone will be able to help you out.
If you have upgraded to 5.1.1, there is no going back. I would think you should be able to flash 5.1.1 stock again. How does this fail? Are you using Odin 3.10.6? Use your original USB cable and put the 5.1.1 tar in the same directory as odin.

You have to use Odin 3.10.6 with 5.1.1. It looks like you are using an older version of Odin. Also, make sure you are opening Odin as an administrator.

I unlocked a Galaxy Note 5 model Samsung-SM-N920A from ATT and I am using Tmobile services.
My question is can I install a Stock ROM from TMobile instead of having the ATT one?
And which one is the right for exchange N920AUCS4CPL1 baseband? I already downloaded N920TUVS4DPH2_N920TTMB4DPH2_N920TUVS4DPH2_HOME.tar.md5
Read some more on here. It can't be done. Your phone is sim-unlocked. In order to flash ROMs, the bootloader needs to unlocked and the AT&T Note 5 cannot be bootloader-unlocked, rooted, etc.
The only excitement around here is someone found the early versions of Nougat on the AT&T servers, which is still a stock system.
Good luck.

But I saw in this forum a lot of people that installed a Tmobil rom on Att phone without problems but on other samsung phones no in the Note 5 And I wondered if it could be done on it too.
Not on note 5. I think the s6/s6 edge are flashable/rootable. And there are definitely other samsung phones that are rootable, but not the Note 5

The N920A Note 5 is different from the N920T.
The AT&T Note 5 cannot be rooted or flashed with anyrhing other than AT&T signed firmware (as you have already Been informed). Can't be done.
Every AT&T app in the app menu can be disabled. Hold your finger on an AT&T app and drag it to the Disable option at the top of the screen. Repeat last step until ypu have no AT&T apps left in the app list
AT&T & Verizon Note 5 owners: DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR PHONE!!!! I already have a thread explaining how to disable the software updater.. In the next couple of days I will be releasing a tool that disables ANY app on your Note 5 phone!!!! Right now my AT&T phone doesn't have a single AT&T app listed as installed!! I even disabled the Usage Manager, so when I say we can now disable any app I mean ANY app.
(this promptly removes it from all lists, the app for all purposes will be "removed")
I can 'remove' the AT&T / Verizon apps if your phone isn't updated beyond November 2016.. There is still some chance I can remove the AT&T apps if you didn't upgrade to nougat yet. If you upgraded to Nougat you should just learn to live with it because it was hard enough to get access to marshmallow.
edit: I finished a tool for disabling apps.. actually though it executes commands as root, but I did an example of how to disable packages

There is a combination firmware 4apl1 use it to downgrade to android 5.1.1. It wipes all your data but I have a full root on combination firmware with kingroot 4.8.2. I manually installed nova launcher prime which can hide apks as well. I manually installed apks with king flasher PC and mobile go installer. Also root apk uninstaller will also install mirror apks from apkmonk etc. Then change kingroot to
Supersu using the terminal emulator method and flash
Safestrap zip and gaps package with flashfire. Then
You are rooted with safestrap installed. Thanks to delgoth and
.Droidvoider for their information on
Their threads.
N920A 6.0.1 4cqb2 can be rooted I have done it multiple times. Google my YouTube video. The only thing I am having trouble with is installing a custom ROM over 4apl1 combination firmware. Yes in and out of bootloops many times but I am remaining patient. From my understanding of the posts I read on XDA I have to modify the custom ROM to install it over rooted 4pl1 combo. I have not figured it out yet. My phone is a v4 bootloader. The post on here are for doing that over a bootloader 3. It is rootable but this part installing custom ROM is complicated. Finally succeeded flashing and booting rom up over N920A 5.1.1 rooted combination firmware. Here is a YouTube link http://youtu.be/J6GXvtxq2aA
Howdy y'all,
I got a LG K10 (K425 at&t USA) from a friend of mine and unlocked it to use on t-mobile. I went to tether it today and got an authorization error. I decided I wanted to root it, get rid of all of the at&t bloatware still on it and get the tethering and mobile hotspot working. My question is twofold:
1) Is there just a standard, carrier neutral, stock ROM for this device? If I want to get rid of carrier bloatware I don't want to just throw another carrier's bloatware on it.
2) Has anyone had any success rooting this phone? I have tried "adb reboot bootloader", LGUP in download mode, and LG Flash Tool to no avail. I have rooted other devices before, some were more troublesome than others, but this one is stumping me. Any suggestions?
Thank you!

Damnit... I certainly hope we get root or an unlocked bootloader soon! I mean, I like what LG's done, I'd just much rather be using stock, or at the very least, a rom that doesn't include all of the AT&T bloatware.

I don't own a AT&T K10. I have a carrier neutral K10. Till now we have bootloader unlock, root, TWRP and custom ROM (Coming Soon!) for T-Mobile/MetroPCS. Do you have Android 5.1.1 firmware for your phone. We could do something about it if we have the firmware

http://giaiphapdidong.net/san-pham/lg-k10-k425-att-rom-userdebug-v09a-v07a-rooted/
It is in a foreign language, but with google translator I was able to understand that this site provides two rooted firmwares for AT&T K425. Unfortunately, when you download the .TOT files you see that the archive is passworded.
Anyone else tried those files?
