Claimed where?
I highly doubt it's 240hz.
Besides, in their 120hz Fluid Announcement they said they raised the sampling rate to 240hz.
"In addition, we’ve raised the touch sampling rate to an industry high of 240 Hz for a more responsive touch experience."

7t touch sampling rate
135Hz ????
touch sampling rate
i tested it with app called touch multitest
and touch samples/sec soars to 225 easily
so i guess its 240 Hz
can anyone else confirm via some other source
I got 153 at most
I also tried adb getevent command just like video. touch sampling for me was 153 Hz max while averaging around 140 Hz
weird thing that i noted was that when i try to wake phone up using double tap to wake , Sample rate bumped to thousands (check attachments)
can this be improved by software or this a hardware thing ??

I have tried the multitouch app on 3 phones ,
One plus 7t is 220
Galaxy S20 is 240
Galaxy s8 is 180
So not far off from the S20 120hz panel , that's pretty good
So only 135 hz as oneplus posted here!

I posted this over on Android Central as well, but decided to post it here to reach another audience.
I've taken a few videos with my Nexus at 720p and there always seems to be alot of stutter/judder in the video. I haven't really tested 480 or 1080p
I first thought I just wasn't holding the phone steady enough... and that may be some of it. But I have taken 10+ videos and on play back there is always some judder. It's like the video camera app is taking the videos in the wrong FPS or its dropping frames or something. The sound is usually crystal clear and doesn't miss a beat, so I'm guessing it's a frame rate issue.
I viewed all 5 of the videos I took today and the frame rate fluctuations are huge. It makes them practically unwatchable... at least to my eyes.
Frame rate : 17.042 fps
Minimum frame rate : 10.002 fps
Maximum frame rate : 30.040 fps
Frame rate : 18.020 fps
Minimum frame rate : 10.002 fps
Maximum frame rate : 30.040 fps

Minimum frame rate : 20.766 fps
Maximum frame rate : 30.040 fps
Frame rate : 30.000 fps
Minimum frame rate : 15.010 fps
Maximum frame rate : 30.040 fps

I'd like to know also

Could this be caused by low light conditions? Sometimes when the light is poor, the camera app will skip some frames to allow enough light to reach the sensor (longer exposure time).
Try again outdoors on a sunny day to see if it's that. It might be possible
to avoid that effect (but have darker videos) by changing the scene mode in the camera preferences.
Just tested my camcorder, I get some random studder also on 1080p. Interesting, it was in low light though...
On 720p no judder whatsoever.
Maybe it loses focus for a second so it tries to get it back? I have no idea

The 5 I posted in the first post were taken outside in sunny conditions at midday. I will try tto take a few more today to test it again.

It's sunny in America? :|
Hi guys,
I was wondering if you noticed an improved gaming performance if the display is scaled down to 1080p? Thanks!
I haven't had any issues in default resolution so I haven't tried it yet..
Theres a YouTube video showing the difference between 2k vs 1080 and it's very minimal.
I see.. if it's very minimal then it's almost useless for me. I thought it would give the frame rate a slight boost.

The HTC 10 has the same mode.
On the thread in the 10 subforum it is quite a difference. Not only are the frame rates consistent but there is more detail drawn.
One of the biggest differences is battery consumed.
I did not click on the link in this thread but one game doesn't sound like consistent testing to me. Some games are capped at 1080p regardless of your setting.

Thanks mate. What I'm after is the stability of the frame rate. I play mobius final fantasy and even at normal setting under game tuner. I experience frame drop on high graphics setting. Hopefully setting the resolution at 1080p can do something
I upgraded from Oneplus 3T and the first thing I noticed was how choppy the refresh rate was when scrolling. Then I tried a Xiaomi Mi Max 3 which looks much smoother (on par with the 3T) yet when I tried the ufotest they both come up as 60hz. Is it actually 60hz or is there something I'm missing?

Both the Mi Max 3 and Mate 20 have the IPS LCD screens, both 60hz, but there's a huge difference anyway, I don't get it.
I'm thinking of upgrading to the Mate 20 X just because of this but I don't know if that has the same issue.

The Mate 20 X has an AMOLED, but if 2 IPS screens can be so wildly different I don't know if that's the cause.

As we all know that there are mods for redmi k20pro , k20 and mi9 that increase the refresh rate of screen upto 85hz
Any dev tried to develop that mod for redmi note 5 pro?
Is not possible because this device uses a crappy screen that probably even not run at 60hz while the others uses a good Samsung AMOLED screen.
There is kernel with 62 hz for tianma panels

It is not crappy. It runs at 60fps you can test it here: https://www.testufo.com/
Just because it's lcd and not amoled does not make it bad. We don't have burn-in issues and it looks great for what it is.
Yess screen is smooth without any type of burnin issue but have any dev tried to increase it nore than 62hz?
Something like70-75hz becoz 2hz doesnt make any noticable difference

Already tested by devs. More than 65hz causes lines in display. So not posible
is it dangerous for human eyes?
Its not dangerous for human eyes, it will just looks more fluid(which for me 60hz is more than enough), but yeah its not possible in this phone more than 65hz

we have crappy lcd panels. all devs admitted that. if refresh rate goes higher than 60 we will have issues with the display already tested 65 and 70hz mods so no chance.

even 65 is usless can't see any difference and wont work for all as xiaomi uses different panels . redmi note 5 alone has 3 different panels used on different batches of production so won't work for all
Comparing playing Piano Tiles 2 on a BLU Vivo 5 (2016 mid-range with AMOLED), this RN5 and the RN7 is day and night. The RN5 is really sluggish and have a noticeable ghosting, even with a J7 2016 had a better experience.

I didn't notice any ghosting and it's not sluggish at all. And I use the phone over 1 year now. And for all other, higher refresh rates on a phone are nothing more than a gimmick that just eats more battery.
