Refresh rate vs Mate 20 and Pro? - Huawei Mate 20 X Questions & Answers

I upgraded from Oneplus 3T to a Mate 20 and the first thing I noticed was how choppy the refresh rate was when scrolling. Then I tried a Xiaomi Mi Max 3 which looks much smoother (on par with the 3T) yet when I tried the ufotest they both come up as 60hz. Both the Mi Max 3 and Mate 20 have IPS screens and 60hz refresh rates, yet they feel completely different. The Mate 20 X has an AMOLED, but if 2 IPS screens can be so wildly different I don't know if that's the cause.

Both the Mi Max 3 and Mate 20 have the IPS LCD screens, both 60hz, but there's a huge difference anyway, I don't get it.

6p or mi max

Currently have a s7 edge but want a bigger phone
I am interested in 6p but seen the mi max
How good is the camera
And will the 650 suffice
Well, 6p doesn't offer too much screen size difference, AFAIK.
It is also a late one. Go grab a Pixel XL if you want stock android experience.
You can also try a Mi MIX for it's uniqueness.
And since you have tasted S7 speed and screen res, I won't suggest you a Mi Max.
There are a few larger phablet than 6.44" Mi Max, like 6.6" Huawei Honor Note 8 & 6.8" Asus ZenFone 3 Ultra, they both offer better camera than Mi Max.

is this worth to purchse at 300$ price brand new?

I'm contemplating of buying this phone or should I wait for MI 8. The price is very tempting to buy now or should I wait for Mi 8?
The things to consider is I want to try the amoled screen at mi 8. Also I want to have a borderless screen. But is it worth the wait? I'm time limited because the buyer of my current phone will leave next week.
Is the camera quality of the new sensor so good as the mi 6?
I'm torn.
Wait for mi 8 then but mi 6 ?. Seriously this is a really solid device. For the price range we're talking about, mi flagships offer very high value/price rate and don't get deprecated as quickly as the other brands' same price devices.
Camera etc all good and unless you are a freak that counts every pixel in a photo you won't notice any great improvements over this phone on mi 8 or so.
About amoled vs ips lcd, I think they're nearly identical in terms of power usage (in real life, "normal" applications) hence the whites are everywhere, inevitable. Color reproduction of the screen is great here too.
But for borderless screen and having on screen navbar things on a 18:9 phone vs capacitive buttons + 16:9 screen, that's up to you. I don't see any great improvements on user experience with one over two unless we're talking about a serious gesture based ux like on sailfish os devices so I don't care here.
I think the most obvious change between the two is the chipset so decide yourself, whether you want to pay more and get mi 8 or get mi 6 for real cheap (when mi 8 starts to ship). Again expect no dramatical changes between the two chipset as they're both 10 nm architecture.
Wait for mi9, Buy mi6 or just buy the mi2x instead.

Refresh rate seems worse than 60hz?

I'm thinking of upgrading to the Mate 20 X just because of this but I don't know if that has the same issue.

Mi 10T Pro or S20FE

I asked the same in the S20FE Forums but thought i'd ask here too.
I'm looking to replace my S10e with a larger phone. It's down to Mi10T Pro or S20FE. I will have to get the Exynos Version of the S20. It seems to be a toss up between the OLED Screen on the Samsung and the easier unlock plus Snapdragon on the Mi10T.
I don't care for cameras too much, i don't consume media on my phone, i know MIUI and OneUI and don't mind either. I've had great experience with Xiaomi and Samsung in the past. The only thing i'm a bit worried about is coming from an OLED Screen (S10e) to an IPS one might be a bit jarring when it comes to text contrast.
The xiaomi will be marginally cheaper (a few bucks).
Since i'll get it through my carrier, i can't get the regular Mi10 anymore. I debated waiting for the Mi11 but that will be quite a bit more expensive and i really don't need the increase in performance.
So what do you think? AMOLED + Exynos or IPS + Snapdragon?

Its up to u, s20 fe is really good phone too. I actually decided to go with mi 10t since fe and 10tpro are 100e more than 10t and they are not that better for that much difference, camera is 5% better and mi 10t is still capable of making some great shots. According to screen ive used 9t before and i can tell that i like IPS more and its faster refresh rate is amazing, but it doesnt have aod and super wallpapers so its one downside for me.
Mi 10T Pro is a much better phone overall, which is amazing given it's way cheaper than the S20FE. One of the best value phones hands down.
Software wise is less bloated and offers a better Android experience.
Hardware is so much better in every single area. The camera is very very good, the battery performance is stellar, the screen is top notch for an IPS LCD screen. Then Exynos vs Snapdragon, dilemma in which I prefer Snapdragon.
Now there's a few things which might be deal breakers for people:
-No IP68 (I've never had the need for this in my life, phone is unusable when swimming anyways), but if you love boating, beaches or swimming then this might be a deal for you.
-ANY AMOLED screen it's light years ahead of even the best LCD screens. It's day and night difference: the contrast, the colors, everything. Pictures with bright colors on day light they're comparable, as soon as there's an image with heavy contrast, shadows or black on it then it's VERY obvious the differences specially indoors. When web browsing or scrolling around the menus you won't notice, as soon as you open a photo or a nice wallpaper, you'll see how bad LCD screens are compared to AMOLED.
-Developer community is still dead for the Mi 10T.
I came from a Mi 9T Pro, and the AMOLED screen it's a big deal... But I really wanted the infinite lasting battery of the Mi 10T and the IR blaster. As an added bonus I found out the camera, specially video recording and low light photos is so but so much better. But once you go AMOLED is very hard to go back to LCD.
Just because of the Samsung bloatware I'd avoid them like a plague, and you'd think a Chinese manufacturer would be worse but overall Xiaomi is better than the rest, they have done a pretty good job from hardware to software. It's a solid and nice product.
And for the money of an S20 FE you're better off buying a Google Pixel 5 which is pretty good if you don't mind the "OK" battery.
Or better yet go for the Mi 10 Ultra or Mi 11 Pro which is around the corner.

Snapdragon 865 in Mi 10T Pro is 30% faster than the Exynos on S20... and also better thermal control and less throttling.
I agree the LED on 10T vs Amoled on S20 is a slight downer, however the 10T PRo is 144Hz refresh vs 120 on Samsung S20
Battery life is undoubletly better on Xiaomi compared with Samsung, and also the battery in 10T Pro is a lot larger (5000mah)
Look on eBay or FB for best prices on borh phones before you make your final decision.
(I got a 2nd hand Mi 10T PRo brand new - with genuine UK Mi 30w charger, but no retail box - for £380 on FB Marketplace )
I'm also excited about the upcoming Mi 11 range but agree with you... Mi 11 prices for next 3-6 months will be much higher than for Mi10 , even 2nd hand ones.
Either S20 FE or Mi 10T Pro will be a great device for you, but my vote goes for the Mi 10T Pro.
(P.S. go for 256GB storage option as Mi 10 devices do not support SD Card expansion).
well it's not a direct comparison , but i've upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 , and I miss the Note 8's Amoled screen.. it's much much better that Mi 10T Pro's LCD if you factor out the smooth 144hz screen , everything else is much bettter on the Xiaomi... oh forgot about note8 is thinner at that Spen
The contrast on Mi 10T/Pro is high but not on the same level of OLED screens. Probably the best LCD I've seen on a phone.
guys i found the s20fe 5g and the mi10t in the same price wich one should i choose both of them are equiped with sd865

Question How is touch latency on 60hz ?

I bought the op 8 pro at a discount but returned it because the screen had insane levels of black crush and 60hz was giving me touch latency even a bit higher than what you get on some 300$ phones which was very annoying, it's not like I can design the apps myself to force them to stay at 120hz with no glitches.
How does the 9 pro touch latency at 60hz compare to older oneplus phones like the 8 pro? Haven't found complaints as can easily be found with the 8 pro 7 pro and so on, but also haven't seen anybody ask about it so I thought I should as I can only get to try the phone by buying it and I wanna avoid returning yet another phone.
Why not run it on 120Hz?
