Ok so I kinda knackered my install by incorrectly swapping a font and changing it with a different app.
to get my system back up and running I fixed bootloop in twrp and obviously lost root.
I'm not too bothered as I can clean install and setup quite quickly or fix the issue once I have more time.
My general question is would it be possible to change the stockrom for custom bits?
An example is flashing h3g UK(three UK) WiFi calling settings from a mbn by inserting it into the stockrom?
Changing default sounds? I know flashing android10 has issues with sounds and wondering if this is something that can be altered.
Also enabling diagport?
I know there are settings and magisk modules to enable this after flashing a stock rom.
I'm at a guess an intermediate user so I'm probably biting off more than I can chew.

Hi. When I had unlocked bl I was having the same problem every rom flash. No matter which kernel, I don't know what causes this problem. When I want to reflash rom or flash other, I get message error mounting 'system'. What's wrong? I mean, why do I get that message? Am I the only one with problems with mounting system?
Installed rom works when can't mount system but after flash new it doesn't boot, so system works, but is only for read :/ Flashing stock FTF fixes problem for few flashes, and then again. I have no idea. Now I am on relocked bootlodader, but I am going to unlock it again in few weeks
//SOLVED HERE
And other stuff. I had tried PAC and SlimBean and both had very low 2d and 3d performance like they didn't have HW acceleration (few versions ago). Was HWA causing the problem or it is just custom modifications problem here on Xperia S? And this annoying browser lag existing there too,
it appears once for some time and I am not able to use phone for 5-10secs, because every touch causes next freeze. I haven't added any build.prop "tweaks" or any other stuff, so it's basic config problem. Please could you tell me what could go wrong?
Thank you
hi guys,
my problem is a little difficult to describe.
After flashing a custom ROM (RR, CM, Vanir, Slim, LiquidSmooth...) KitKat or Lollipop , everything seems to work normal, but after unlocking display the brightness is about 5-10%, It is very difficult to see something on the display. The only way is to reboot into recovery and restore a nandroid.
This issue appears with installed mods just like xposed modules and other stuff, BUT it also appears without them (completely fresh install - ROM and GAPPS).
Curiously no problem with stock ROMs like KitSlim, Dstriker, PrivacyGuard and RockZ1K.
This is very ANNOYING!
Anybody the same issue or an idea how to solve it???
Thx for your help.
Straight away after rooting 4.7.5. my wifi doesn't work. Like the toggle won't turn on etc and won't find networks. But after a reboot it's fixed until the next reboot which it starts again.
Any idea how to fix it for good or wait for updates?
known problem, Have to wait on update
Lol! It's not a rooting issue at all. Only after flashing a custom kernel you CAN end up with non functioning WiFi but that's only because the kernel-thread hasn't been read properly.
Rooting + WiFi = zero problems :good:
Likely a custom kernel was installed which installed it's own wifi (and other) modules. Then the kernel was changed or reverted back to stock, but system partition is still changed with custom modules for connectivity. If you revert back from a custom kernel, a "dirty" flash of the system partition usually solves the issue.
Maybe it was after magisk. After magisk patches the boot.img it's "sort of" custom kernel Right. I had magisk 14.5 beta and wifi wasn't working and I flash 14.0 and it's seemed to fix it i think.
wifi working- but...
Hi, my wifi works (picks up all networks nearby- including mine)
but-
it won't connect to my network when using passcode.
Any ideas?
Running Lineage current and used magisk to root initially...
HELP!
It's driving me nuts.
Having same issue as above.
Can search for but cannot connect to my WiFi.
First issue I had after rooting was Facebook messenger force closing only while I was writing a message, installed a custom rom and hasn't happened since. I cleared cache and data, tried a full format, reinstalled magisk and tinkered with settings with no luck still.
Hi guys,
I have been having issues with my Australian Moto Z PLay. I have been Romming for a while now and tried to first return the phone to stock using the adb method. Which didnt work (I cant remember why, I think I finished it all and it would only boot to bootloader or recovery). Then tried updating only the modem using this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z-play/how-to/update-bootloader-modem-to-flash-stock-t3818253 then I tried flashing a few ROM's
The issue now is that the phone turns itself off and on a few times a day. I have launcher crashed quite often and the battery seems to have less life in it.
In short I'm not too sure what I have done wrong. Maybe a few things. Can anyone help me get back to a point where I can install custom ROM's like before relatively safely and reliably? I have tried a few different rom's and had lots of similar issues with each.
ROM - AOSP Extended v5.8 Official
Android - 8.1.0
Baseband version - M8953_10238.63.04.83.01R
Kernel Ver - 3.18.71-OPN28.49-2-g04699f27af49
SELinux Permissive
Hardware - Moto Z Play purchase in Australia retail from Harvery Norman
Boot messages
"There's an internal problem with your device. Contact manufacturer for details" (appears twice, once before needing password, once after. Never needed pin code before)
Thakn you in advance!
....also lots of lag. I'm going someone can guide me to the modem etc settings that should be in my device
My headset mic has stopped working some time ago after installing a custom rom (don't know which one). I tried another one and same... but I tried a third one and that works... I think they all should run ok so I it may be a software problem somehow changing the ompt/ctia configuration. I thought this was just hardware and not configurable, but I read it might be possible to change that via software...
Do you know what could be happening?
