Hi All,
Been having a problem with the touchscreen randomly becoming unresponsive or the phone rebooting on its own ever since when I'm (trying) to run MIUI ROMs.
By "random" I mean that it sometimes occurs while typing, switching home screens, opening an app, or even just when the phone's idle.
Not experiencing any unexpected FCs throughout the MIUI ROMs that I've tried however... so at least that's a good thing?
I don't experience any of these problems at all when running a stock Sense ROM, so I'm hoping it's not the same rebooting problem described in another thread that requires sending it in for repairs as that would be very troublesome.
The phone's a HKCSL Desire that was rooted using unRevoked. The problems occur even when I don't install any apps onto the phone and when the phone's just idle with the screen off (for randomly rebooting).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated =) and I hope I'm not just SOL for MIUI ROMs since no one else seems to really be having these problems.
---
List of things I've tried:
1. Full wipe with Dalvik & cache before flashing a ROM (many, many times)
2. Updating to 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14 radio and downgrading to the suggested 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2 (Thought it might've been caused by WiFi connection as I always have it on... but doesn't seem like it)
3. Using different versions of Clockworkmod (2.5.0.7, 2.5.0.1, 2.5.0.1 modified by MIUI.cn)
4. Repartitioning/formatting SDCard before/after flashing a new ROM
5. RUU-ing the phone and redoing everything from scratch
6. Using an untranslated base MIUI-Desire ROM
7. "Upgrading" the ROM by flashing on top of the 10.15 build
Versions of MIUI ROMs I've tried:
Pretty much all the releases of 10.15 and 10.22. Currently fiddling around with eevek's stock 10.29 and mobiousdigital et al.'s 10.29 builds.
Hopeful bump =)
Hi everyone.
I'm having a little problem with my Xperia S, it's kind of new (2 weeks of use).
When I'm using normally the cellphone, everything works great, but if don't use it for a long time and I grab it faster and unlocked it, sometimes the cellphone freezes! Well, not exactly freezing, it still works but VERY slowly, almost like freezing. I can't turn it off with power button, I had to user Power + Volume button to turn it off/restart it.
That happened in first week, so I unlocked bootloader and flash it another kernel (advanced stock kernel), and the problem was there.
Later I made a backup of the firmware (I updated to its last version with PC Companion, ICS btw) and flashed a custom ROM (XTXperience 4), and the problem was still there.
Yesterday I flashed a Generic ICS ROM downloaded from XDA Server using Flashtool, everything went normal until today, when the problem happened again.
I've been searching here in XDA and Google and still nothing seems clear of what is causing the problem, if it's the sim card or maybe a hardware problem. I'm going to relock the bootloader today, and I will try to repair the phone using SUS.
What is causing the cellphone to freeze? Hope someone help me with this. Thanks in advance!
btw, sorry about my english, hope you understand most of what I wrote
Well in my experience,
The phone freezes because it is too hot,
Or the RAM memory suddenly drops.
I mean sudden ur phone's RAM memory is 0.
I'm not sure too.
But I think reflashing the kernel, or flash other kernel will fix the problem
Try it

What ics firmware did you flash? And did you do a complete wipe when flashing?
Sent from my Jellybean Xperia S
I've flashed other kernel and yes, I do a complete wipe when I flash another ROM, via Flashtool or CWM.
I've been thinking of rolling back to GB to see what happens.
Yesterday my phone freezes like 2 or 3 times in less than 15 minutes. First time I reboot the phone and it was ok like 5 minutes, then it freezes. I reboot again the phone and happened again.
Its not even hot or using a lot of RAM, it always has like 250 or 200mb free
Did u play with CPU settings?

No, this is happening since the first boot of the phone. When I turned it on the first time it happened, and I had to search how to force a reboot because I didn't know how to do it LOL
It doesn't happen very often, but when it does is very frustrating!
Try flashing a new rom, but wipe the system partition too? I always do that to ensure a fully clean install.

I'm thinking in flashing a non based stock rom, like CM or MIUI, because I flashed XTXperience before and the freezing happened.
Oh, and the problem still exists. I believe Wi-Fi connection maybe it's the problem, I'm testing some things right now.
Had this too using Supercharger (by zep) but after few setting it's gone. Maybe you should try to run the script ?
It was with stock rom and advanced kernel v15/16.L
Well, I was on 6.1.A.2.45, I relocked the bootloader and an update changed the firmware to 6.1.A.2.55 using SUS without wiping data and the problem was still there, so I repaired the phone with SUS, it erased everything and the problem was gone for like 2 days. Today it happened again.

Advanced Stock Kernel supports 6.1.A.2.55 firmware?

Well, I Supercharged my ROM now, which setting do you use to fix the problem? I'm still having it.
I even flashed a CM10 based ROM and its still happening! I think it's a hardware problem

Hi, did you manage to solve the problem? I'm having similar issues like you
Hi there!
I installed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912187
with basbeand 77 instead of the recommended ones, and it appeared to work just fine for two days.
Today, I installed the LBE Guard, and so my Desire was stuck in bootloop, which I could get out of after a fullwipe and a new install.
So, then, I installed the LBE privace Master (v4.3.2738),
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1422479
because I read it was okay for JB. While configuring it, my phone crashed, and I was again stuck in a bootloop. I tried to make a fullwipe again, and a new install, but I have still these random (but appearing soon after booting) crashings and then a bootloop. It even appears when I use the Aroma Installer, but not in the CWM.
So my question is - what went wrong and more importantly, how do I get my phone to work again?
Thanks for replying.
The part with the baseband is wrong - that was my other phone.
I am quite the noob-cookie, I also have the problem with random reboots and freezes. I have been messing around with the new Nikez 4.2 Jellybean Rom, i thought that could be the reason why. But now I am also experiencing it with the old Nikez 4.1 Rom that used to be very stable for me. Anyone know a good solution? I have done several full wipes..
Cheers!
Hello,
I have been watching and since reading u on this section of the XDA Forums since the start of december 2012 when i got my Xperia S. Excellent phone but after a while the stock ICS did start to annoy me with it's frequent hang ups and it's inability to open up simple programs at times.
So i decided to flash a kernal after updating to .45 ICS stock, specifically the Sspeed V8 kernal. Again it was good and even up until yesterday before i flashed the CM 10.1 it was doing it's job.
I decided to go one step further and i unlocked the bootloader and i firstly installed CWM 6.x.x.x, then backed up my data, wiped cache partition, wiped the dalvik cache then i wiped the phone data, Then i flashed the CM 10.1.zip it installed successfully. It loaded up with out any glitches or hitches.
I then flashed the Gapps.zip V.xxxx2012 for 10.1/4.2.2 it to flashed successfully.
I have been so far impressed how smooth and lag free it is and such a big difference,
i have encountred 3 bugs, mostly the "(insert app name) unexpectedly closed" bug, in this order.
Camera - when turning on the HDR feature of the camera and then trying to take a picture it crashes with the above bug error msg. the first time this happened i tried to open the app again but it would not open and repeatedly the above error kept on appearing. I rebooted the phone and the app starts up with out any problems, BUT again when turning on the HDR feature it will crash again to home screen but i can be started again and used, just with out the HDR feature turned on, the rest of it works fine (i dont use the HDR feature anyways.
Messages - this crashed with the same bug above after some mid-light usage after about 12 hours or so, i simply rebooted the phone and it solved it.
so far no other bugs have been encountered and it is still running smooth.
i wanted to to ask this is a known issue the bugs above?
also my second question is, will a multi-tasking window mod be available or possible for the CM 10.1 like on the samsung phones?
thanks i will try and update this thread with new bugs and fixes.
Hi guys,
I have been having issues with my Australian Moto Z PLay. I have been Romming for a while now and tried to first return the phone to stock using the adb method. Which didnt work (I cant remember why, I think I finished it all and it would only boot to bootloader or recovery). Then tried updating only the modem using this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z-play/how-to/update-bootloader-modem-to-flash-stock-t3818253 then I tried flashing a few ROM's
The issue now is that the phone turns itself off and on a few times a day. I have launcher crashed quite often and the battery seems to have less life in it.
In short I'm not too sure what I have done wrong. Maybe a few things. Can anyone help me get back to a point where I can install custom ROM's like before relatively safely and reliably? I have tried a few different rom's and had lots of similar issues with each.
