Anyone here experiencing a sensitivity issue on samsung A70?
I had mine like few weeks ago and notice there is a lag on screen sensitivity. I used to play games (call of duty mobile and PUBG) on this phone and it is lag whenever i tried to make a minimum/fine tune movement. It is annoying and almost useless to play.
I believed to those who are using this phone for photo editing or painting or drawing will experience the same thing.
I compare with my samsung S9+ and note3, they works perfectly. No issue at all.
I also did a test with other demo set A70 phone in samsung store, they appears to have the same problem.
Not much info i can get from the net as for now.
I did report to samsung service center in Malaysia, unfortunately they said i'm the only one who is complaining about this matter. They ask me to check if there is a firmware update in future.
Please share your experience with me.
Please help.
Thanks
Same problem here, was looking all over the internet to find someone who experienced the same issue.
Just for the record, I have also switched on the 'Touch Sensitivity' option in the settings.
I've got this issue too. I've talked to Samsung about it through Samsung members app, and they told me to take the device to Samsung customer center, but they told me that there's nothing wrong with the device. I kept bugging them about it on Samsung members app until they told me that they're gonna pass the feedback to the team.
My advice would be that we all write them feedbacks about this issue, that way they'll listen to us. Also it's important to tell them that you don't have any screen protectors on, cause they're gonna put the blame on it.
I've also posted about this issue a couple of times here and there, on Samsung's Reddit and Twitter also. And I was trying to get some YouTubers attention to this issue so they can talk about it and get Samsung to listen, but YouTubers don't respond to me.
I am tired enough to contact samsung. I even did email their ceo through samsung email. No news from them yet.
Anyway, do you think it is a hardware problem or software problem? Or that is best performance a70 can do?
I am pretty sure this is a software issue. Because Snapdragon 675 should have no problem with this considering my sisters’s old Lenovo P2, with the Snapdragon 625, is perfectly fine.
Definitely software issue. The touch used to be worse but they fixed it, and now it's like this. Also, if it was a hardware issue they would've noticed it when I gave my phone to them to scan it.
I just came back from samsung service center. They told me it is like this due to screen type.. S9 and note3 having a better screen quality. So for A70 screen type there is a limitation of the delay.
I really dont agree with them but this is what they told me. I insist to have a report on this and ask them to highlight this issue to higher samsung representative. But i forgot to take the report number. Grrr...
Imo, this issue wouldnt solve unless you able to talk to someone who is 'working in a software department' and able to explain to them correctly.
And i guess they only take a very good care on their flagship model. S and Note.

That's not the case, they just don't wanna talk about it so that's their way of shutting you out.
I've just updated my phone to September security patch and I can see they're fixing the issue. It's not 100% fixed, but I feel like it's 99% fixed. The touch is better, but not the best. I compared it to my A50 and it's indeed closer than ever to being like it, regarding the touch response latency.
I'm gonna send them a message again to tell them that they're on the right path but it just needs a little bit more fixing. The sooner we report it, the sooner it is fixed.
+ No, most of their phones have great screens, I've been with Samsung for a decade now and I can tell from experience. It's just that this device has a software issue because they're so busy making new phones and giving updates to the A50.

I updated the phone manually through Odin. I used the Israeli version since it's right next to Jordan where I live. The touch has improved, but it still needs some work. The fingerprint scanner has also been improved, it's faster now.

Tell them about this thread so they know it's a widespread issue.
Have you tried increasing the mouse pointer speed in the input settings? I bumped mine up a bit and it helped a little bit but it doesn't solve the problem of hitting a small target not being registered as a touch unless you zoom in. My old phone, LCD was able to hit small targets.

Jap, i also try that, nothing changed..
Picture actually looks pretty good for it to be a low light indoor shot. Plus your computer monitor casts a light bleed on your picture. Have to remember this is a camera on a phone and not a high end dslr camera. So pictures in low light can always come out bad and grainy.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
Grain in dark pictures are expected. I have a canon 5d mkIII and even with a full-framed sensor, it'll still pick up some grain. Our phone does pretty well for the size of the sensor. Wouldn't sweat it unless the purple hue attacks
This is a well-documented issue with the One.
HTC says it should be fixed in software on the 4.3 update. I'm not 100% convinced. If it's not fixed, I'll be getting rid of the phone. My low-light pictures are awful compared to other phones I've owned.
As for the Canon guy.. I'm sure you have way more settings you can change over the phone's setting to make your 5D pics better
Thank you guys for yours answers,i will play again with my phone's camera's settings. I thought that the Ultrapixell kamera is perfect in low-light. i as wrong..

I didn't know the grainy pics was "well documented." I only know of the purple hue issue. If I use the night setting it helps a lot and I've been pleased with the pics, better than my S4 in many settings.
I suppose you could try night mode, maybe with a low iso to see how your pics look.

Search "htc one camera issue" and you will get a google's worth of results of discussions on the topic.
Purple Hue and Grainy are pretty much the same issue, or I have both issues with two HTC Ones now. I tried every setting in the book. Nothing made it better. Night mode made them blurry on top of it, as I'm holding the phone at a very slow shutter speed, this was expected. Tried ISO as well. It just sucks.

I agree one hundred percent. I envy those of you that do not have this issue. I purchased mine second hand. To my knowledge, the warranty is non-transferable. Just hoping that the Verizon update will patch this, if it is not straight up hardware. I tried the 4.3 roms, but they are ports, and this probably goes deeper than just a surface flash.
If I may be so bold, please allow me to share my experience. I was having an issue with grainy pictures. When I covered my lens it would turn red. I sent a support request to HTC. They gave me the runaround for about 2 weeks saying to wait for 4.3, the software will fix it. Then they told me to use third-party camera apps. Eventually I got mad, closed the ticket. I sat there and fumed and then walked away. A day later I got a "tell us how we did" email. I laced into them and told them that I had a bad experience, that my camera is clearly defective and being told to use third-party apps that still have the issue isn't a fix. I got a response back and they asked if I had considered sending it for repair. I told them that I had never been given that option. The guy told me he was going to call me and he did. We talked for about 5 minutes, he took my info, he sounded like a cool guy. We joked a bit. He offered to pay shipping into HTC. I sent it in.
I got it back today. It's a night and day difference. It's actually catches focus like it should. When I cover the lens it stays jet black. It's a big difference. Send it back. Let them fix it. It sucked to be without it but it took them about a week round trip. It was worth it.

What did they "fix"? Did they state that in the repair documents? Are you still on the current OTA release of software? I'm wondering what the fixed for free that is the root of the actual problem.
I'm on my 3rd phone in 7 weeks now (for other issues than the camera), and I still have the issue.

They didn't share any repair document with me at all. They just shipped my phone back in a "gift" box with a screen rag. No documentation at all. I have to assume that they replaced or repaired the camera sensor. A month or so back there was a link in the forums about trying to narrow down if it was a sensor issue or not. They had us record the camera sensor version. It involved finding a particular file and then opening it in a text file. In any case, even then with only like 35-40 responses there were at least 9 different camera sensor versions. Also, my camera seemed ridiculously sensitive to motion. I don't have the most steady hands but I also don't have seizures every time I take a picture either. The old camera (or firmware) seemed to exaggerate any motion.
As for the OTA, I sent it to them with OTA .8. They shipped it back .10. I've since flashed NuSenseONE but I have a TWRP backup of the ROM as it arrived back to me.. plus logging into a few things. If there is anything in particular that you are interested in, such as a file version or something, let me know.

Nothing I'm particularly interested in. I was wondering if they owned up to it being software or hardware. I too, went through calling HTC, explaining the issue, going through an hours worth of diagnostics on my phone, before they told me it would be fixed in 4.3 release. Perhaps they have a 4.3 release that includes a camera sensor firmware update as well? Are are you suggesting that the camera versions are 9 different versions of hardware?
I don't know.. the camera on here just isn't what it's cracked up to be. It's great in PERFECT conditions, but sub-standard when not in perfect conditions.

I'm not at all sure what I'm suggesting now. I just went back to that survey and looked through the results, and it looks like there are literally 100's of different possible results from that sensors file. What I did find that is probably of no value at all is that my phone, before it was serviced had the following text in the sensor text file:
Before servicing:
st vd6869(1.0) cinesensor 2013-04-29
After servicing:
st vd6869(1.0) cinesensor 2013-09-16
I don't know if that is just a firmware revision, or the manufacturing date of the sensor itself, but if you look in that link to the survey results there are probably 50 different dates.
Here is something that may be of interest to you. The guy who started the thread mentioned sending it in to repair and they sent him the work order. They replaced his camera with a SHARP sensor and the results he posts are far superior to what he had before. Link here
Is this admission of guilt or just a result of part shortage? Or just typical hardware phase-out/phase-in.

So yeah, pretty old it seems.
hey guys,
the videos and the title speak for themself. rest of the screen is fine touch-wise, perhaps with a slight limitation at the left and right edge. since the latter could be software related, do you think that touch registration issues in a particular area (like left and right bottom corner) can be anything else than hardware.
https://youtu.be/Yy5xoOXfm8s
https://youtu.be/d6q90SkSFYc
its getting even more massive, when disabling the navigation bar with custom navigation bar from the playstore (root required). see here:

what do u guys think? anyone having the same issues? perhaps someone could test with root and no navbar?
contemplating on just rma-ing or going with a full return (and my old n6p) to wait out the issues and a potential hardware revision.
thanks everybody!

I've noticed a bit of this as well. I believe this is an issue recognized by Google and has something to do with software implementation to reduce ghost touches from the curved screen. If I recall, this was supposed to be addressed in the December security patch update. I'll see if I can find a source for this info.

This is good to know. I figure I'd ride it out until after the December security patch and/or 8.1 is released to determine if I need to RMA. It hasn't much interfered with my use with the exception of gaming on a couple of occasions.

yea going that route too. since then there would also be some time for quality control to be more efficient since i dont think i would have much luck with a new replacement device right now.
but an argument against the software related explanation would be, that some arent experiencing these touch screen issues. would a software update which adresses the issue for the owners with issues then provoke issues for those who havent had any at all since then?

Both good points. I am almost past my 14 day return period, but I have no intentions of returning the device. If I do RMA, I would like to wait a little while so Google/LG can get some of this nonsense sorted out with later batches.

Had the same issue on my device, but running newest december build (9.0). have an exchange from Google on the way. The chat agent also said something about software, so I assume it didnt make it into the 9.0 december update.
Hopefully my replacement device does not have the same issue.
Please vote, lets see how many user has this problem. (I know the Q/A topic contains similar topic but w/o voting)
My problem is similar. Yes when I pinch or zoom with two fingers it gets a little wonky but nit too terrible. My issue is with the setting "accidental touch" not working. My screen keeps turning on when in my pocket. Tired of companies putting out buggy defective JUNK!
As much I'd like to get this phone seeing so many people have this issue is stopping me from buying it. Guess I'll have to wait for samsung to address that they're putting out a fix for this.
After I put a tempered glass screen protector on it I've had no issues. They have pushed an update to the FE in Germany to address the issue but it's not pushed in the US yet.

I am glad you don't have the issue, because not everyone has it. Actually, I have put the latest DBT (Germany) latest firmware version on the phone a few hours after it was available, but unfortunately, it has NOT solved the issue, as I described it in this video.

Just tried that test. I guess I do have it but have never noticed it.
Unbelievable i also have issue with my Australian s20 fe, did not noticed this until I run the touch screen test. Unfortunately I have not received any updates firmware yet to see if Samsung fix them or not.
I had this issue too but with 1ATJ5 update which i received 2 days ago the problem solved
I'm surprised what take Samsung so long to release the updates to the rest of the world when its clear the problem happen to a lot of regions.
I have had too Multitouch issues. I have it returned. I have Pixel 5 now.
Was S20 Fe 5G red DE region.
I just bought US t-mobile model and I do have the crossing lines in that blue screen test app. However I haven't experienced any issues in my day-to-day use.
I have the Exynos version with november patch here in Brazil, the issue is present.
Fast catch in PoGo is a nightmare since we need to use 2 fingers to do it.
Exynos with latest patch, no issues on normal usage, only a few crossing lines on the test app.
Just ordered the FE 5G (Snapdragon).
Will update it and run some tests. Should be here in a week.
Hopefully they fixed it or will fix it with Android 11/OneUI 3.0
Is it really a software issue that can be fixed or Samsung just trying to cover it up?

I saw some posts on reddit that claimed it was fixed with the latest software but I don't know how true that is as I haven't tried it myself yet.
Hopefully it's something that can be fixed via software. I've gone through PLENTY of Samsung devices and the hardware is always of good quality, even on their lower end devices.
I very recently got the Exynos version, CSC is SEB, ran touchscreen tests, no problems at all.
I don't know if it's touchscreen related or maybe screenprotector that i applied, but after using this phone for a bit more I notice that sometimes it doesn't register my touches. For example in pogo when I spin a ball suddenly it stops tracking as if i lifted my finger and yeets the ball somewhere to the side. Similar with HP:WU, sometimes it doesn't track my casts. :/

Did you you enable increased sensitivity?
My Note 10+ be a mess if I wasn't using that and accidental touch protection. If you're running Pie you can also download the app Double Tap which works great with almost zero battery usage.
The case also makes a big difference as naked I hate this phone; in the Bolt case it's great and it helps to prevent accidental screen touches while making it easy to hold.
Don't be too hasty to ditch Pie for Q... Pie is a fast, stable and a relatively secure OS.
With Q comes the cursed scoped storage.
Make sure to cure isn't worse than the disease.

Yes, I tried both in all combinations.

This phone never shipped with Android 9 so irrelevant.
And the problem is not accidental touches. The problem is it stops tracking.
Hey guys,
I issued a complaint about my 6 Pro (purchased from the Google Store in November) some weeks ago due to it having connection loss, GPS never pointing me in the direct direction (and some other things), got an replacement device, that randomly rebooted like 5 times in the first 2 days, so I sent back the replacement and hoped for the updates to resolve my issues with the original one. Well they didnt and I just got out of a chat with a service agent, who said, they can only offer repair options now.
As a Google buyer since the nexus days, having the ability to get a good service has always been a strong case for my choice for Google. This is very disappointing. Since when did things change, and why? Or are there people who got more than one replacement?
The dude i had in the chat today said he checked with the specific deparment and they will only offer repair for my device.
Thanks guys!
In the future return the device in the available return window if defective.
Make it their problem not yours (I have 2 open box specials to my name so far with Samsung).
You can try contacting your bank if you used a MC to see if you can return the device and get the bank to do a charge back.
You need to be effectively assertive or people will walk all over you.
I be all over Google like a cheap suit...

Connectivity problems seem to be mainly software related, many people were able to fix their problems by flashing the november radio file. What other problems do you have?
Have you set up your device "fresh" or with a backup? Google cloud or cable?
Some people had problems with backups, if Google doesn't offer you another replacement, I'd suggest to set up your device without any previous backup stuff, to see if that solves your issue.
That's a weird turn of events with that agent
What you are describing is a complete change from how Google handled warranty claims in the past. I would call back and see if the answer changes, this feels like a support agent that was confused.
That said, Google is currently in a very bad spot with support, it is a disaster.

This is a good idea to call back. Can't tell you how many times I've received different answers depending on who I talk to from various company's support services.

I know right. I buying from Google since the nexus days. And getting a replacement has never been an issue. But there seems to be a change in poilicies.
Thats why I'm asking, if someone got a second replacement device, cause I think that is were the cutoff is now.

If you do a chargeback they'll freeze your Google account. Lots of reports of this happening on Reddit and they never reverse course and let you keep the account.

All the more reason to never do business with this company it true. I'd return it anyway. Then start filing complaints if they froze the account.
The FTC will take action if they get enough complaints of inappropriate behavior like this.
As it is I would never give Google a dime outright anyway.

Yeah after hearing about the chargeback situation I decided I'll order from Amazon when it's time. Too many reports of FedEx stealing the phones and Google support not being helpful with requesting refunds.
I agree with OP that it's a shame if Google has now decided they'll only replace a device once. A defective device is a defective device, not anyone but Google's fault that their QA sucks.

As Lughnasadh pointed out calling Google back is a good idea. I've literally called some companies over 2 dozen times over the course of a week or two, escalating the case, ask to talk to supervisors, managers, even a VP at Sony.
Trying to get them to do the right thing.
Hammer them until they blink first... it's like playing the slots.
I'm successful almost always but it can take some doing. Once I get started I go to town...*
It's all good though because it's another free course in assertive training. Unfortunately for them I'm already well trained and worse I enjoy it

actually, from what I heard it was mainly adaptive connect that caused the problem. (Least it was for me and I was on December update, but November did it to). Now I am on January update.

I agree. People bl unlock flash the wrong image, can't recover, and say my phone won't respond. Not that it happened here but you can search the threads and see what I mean.

No doubt that may be true, but not all devices are equal (even the same model).
It's a dirty little secret but a common practice for phone manufacturers to substitute smaller chipsets and components during a production run due to parts availability. If it's a chipset it may not be compatible with the original firmware instruction set.
Eventually the manufacturer will modify the firmware to incorporate these off spec components, hopefully. Once they realize there's a problem. Almost always they need to physically examine the device to know if/what was substituted. So yeah they like you to send it in for repair. Fking beta hardware
Samsung is known to do this.
So when others are having issues you never experienced or easily fixed and they can't, don't be so sure it's the user's fault. Especially if there are wide spread reports.
so no one here who got a second replacement device?

I'm very sure I remember reading some other members in this section reporting having received second replacement devices. No idea who they were or in which threads you might find their posts, though.
Could you guys please test something out for me on your S21 FE phones? In Chrome (or any web browser) try scrolling up or down slowly, then hold your finger still and release it from the screen. Your goal is to avoid scrolling the page at all when you release your finger.
For me, the screen often scrolls when I release my finger. My phone seems to be detecting subtle movements in my finger as I release it from the screen, and incorrectly interpreting that as a scroll action. I'm starting to worry that this is a software bug. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I have the same problem, but it kind of started after the protective glass sticker.
I dont have this issue. Scrolling is working fine even with a tempered glass
You are right. The same thing happens to mine, when I lift the finger slowly, the phone scrolls erratically. I said it before in another post but I absolutely know that thie S21 FE does not have the same snappy, scrolling speed that I had on my S21 Ultra. It is a 120hz display, no doubt about it, but something is making it seem laggy or erratic sometimes.
Yeah, I have the same behavior on mine, but I thought that's normal, that's how Samsung One UI manages the scroll. Never had a Samsung until s21 FE, came from a OnePlus 7T.
Still, what's the problem with this behavior? Why does it bother you?
I dont have this issue. Scrolling is normal for me.
do you have any updates on this? I have the same issue.
None. I'm guessing Samsung might of used the same manufacturing process as on the S20 FE (which had the ghost touch issues) and in order to fix it they made some software modifications to the screen sensitivity. So it might be the panel is flawed or purposefully made to feel less flaghsip to make us buy the ultra ) I'm rambling I know, but in this day and age, I think these companies can do such things. I vividly remember not having any display issues on the S21 Ultra and I remember holding both the S21 Ultra and the S21 FE and scrolling up and down. OneUi felt so right and fluent on the Ultra, I have no idea why. On the FE, even when I am typing words I often have spelling errors and typing feels very uncertain and laggy.
I've made a screen recording in 60 fps using scrcpy and the touch debugging enabled while viewing a grid paper PDF.
You can clearly see on many swipes where there is a random 1 or 2 sample points extra when the finger lifts off. It seems to be mostly triggered when trying to do precise movements, like trying to align the grid to the edge.
It's great that we have proof regarding the touchscreen, however I am not sure what we can do to solve it. You could show it to samsung support but I doubt they will recall every single unit and fix it if it's a hardware issue.
I wrote to Samsung support, but they didn’t give me a clear answer, they said that this is a feature of the phone. I think you need to write a lot to Samsung support so that they fix it with an update

That's exactly what they do all over the world. I think they know very well what they are doing. Why bother with defects that only a small percent of people actually perceive. I find this to be really annoying and frustrating. I have no idea what to do to get through them. They do the same thing with the HDR function too. It's always on, you can clearly see it in action after every photo but they'd rather send you to the service center than admitting they know about it and that it is something they did on purpose. Most probably they are going to brush it off and hope people forget about it while new phones will take over the attention of the customers.
I dont have this "feature".... S21FE snapdragon Czechia 6/128
I just got my s21 FE and I'm having this issue. It's annoying. As a scroll webpages, the page hops up after I lift my finger. It's been happening all day. I really hope attention could be brought to this and that it's fixed in an update.
