I have LG G7 G710ULM variant using 11g firmware
My phone cant boot, because the bootloader is locked, and showing warning text "Your device has failed a routine safety check and will not boot", I know if I can fix it with reflashing stock rom, but using LGUP is detected as unknown, so I cant flash stock rom via download mode. My phone doesn't have twrp. I also try to reset, but it failed because block by the warning message.
I only can access fastboot and download mode (cant use it because detected as unknown)
I cannot use recovery, reset data using (vol-down and power button), LGUP (because detected as unknown model)
is this people call it brick?
thanks for helping me and sorry if I have a bad English
[sorry, already solved, flash stock rom via cmd]
Use LG Bridge and "Update error recovery" under Software Update tab.
What did you do befor you got the error?
actually mine is now stuck with the "failed routine check" message. I had locked the bootloader before being able to have a working ROM .. i think the device is gone now :/
I did brick two phones.
I am a persistent heart that is the reason I did unbrick them.
When I got bricked, it is the worse feeling, it is like a grieving proccess... The phone is still here perfect in hardware but the phone won't boot??? My blood was as red as ever. I wanted to hide myself insanely. Why the hells I did it???
I don't know if you felt exactly this. But I always tried to believe it is reversible. I hate that horrible feeling.... I did never surrender. I asked a lot google how to resolve my problem in a different way
I got some answers. I got unbricked.
And all the proccess was worthy. I got the best feeling: I am so in peace now. So relaxed as ever.
I started to love my phone as never. It is a warrior phone it just returned from the war.
If u lock the phone with root ore a non signed boot u get Bricked...
Its a whye we unloock.... Just go back and unlock and flash kdz then relock

I am able to flash stock KDZ using LG UP as well as factory reset with the volume/power key combo, but when I boot up I'm still presented with the "failed routine check" message. Any thoughts?
Make shure to flash the right kdz and check the refurbish option in lgup. Factory reset just wipes /data

If u unlocked with the octobox method u might have to use it again to restore partitions if even possible

Actually I just noticed something: Factory reset might not be working because as soon as I click the power button to choose "Yes" to confirm wipe, it right away shows the "check failed" message.
I just now tried using the oldest KDZ available in the LGFirmware website, with LGUP, and tried using Refurbish and Upgrade options, but both do not fix the issue.
Also I noticed that in LGUP, it still shows my phone "Version" as "G710ULM20b" which I think is referring to the EU KDZ version that I tried flashing before this all happened. Could this mean that LGUP is not actually flashing other KDZs since the name is not changing? The other firmwares I tried flashing are G710ULM20d (latest) and G710UM10i (oldest) so I'd think that this should have changed the "Version"... Idk at this point what to do.
U can't use upgrade becous it saves files. You nead to do a full wipe..
Use the cracked version to crossflash your version if it detects as someting els

If this error shows up because of bad recovery, boot into normal ROM, root and flash stock recovery or twrp
If this error shows up because of bad boot.IMG, then you'll have to restore firmware from kdz file via download mode.(download mode = plug in usb plus volume up(?)... You should see a "Download" logo, brightness mat be very low and you have to squint )
Thanks
Yes thanx i figured it out from reading threw the forums but your help was much appreciated now to find out why my vk810 will not upgrade to 4.4.2 keep getting a error message

I went to the Verizon store just now, their vk810 were still on 4.4.2, "check for update" says no update
Try updating via WiFi. If you removed any system apps, you need to put them back
Also, at least post the error :/... How can I help you debug if you don't tell me which step had the problem (can't search for update, update failed with x error code, tablet blew up to pieces during update...)
i did post it in another thread i started but never really got answers

Hi,
Just to know if this problem is solved...
If it is, then this is most probably useless... unless somebody else stumps into the same problem.
If I can guess it correctly, this message typically display when you have rooted your V500, installed a custom recovery from an app flasher (i.e. Flashify, ROMToolBox...) and the recovery isn't compatible with your device and you tried a hard reset.
This means that you are able to boot into fastboot and that is what's going to save you
Why ? Simply put : because you can flash some files using the fastboot command line
Try to flash bootloaders, aboot, boot and recovery just for a try. You can find those I guess.
Regards.
Stuck with "Fastboot mode started"
I was currently on Altev vk81035b-rooted-SU installed but no custom recovery. I followed Altev-Hnk1 instructions for flashing aboot.4.2.2 & commands (dd if=/......Etc) you know the rest) which successfully copied the file. Then when I typed "reboot recovery" BAM, that's when my gPad slapped me in the face with the following--> Fastboot mode started udc_start()
I press & constantly hold "power & down" buttons which always brings me to "System Recovery" screen listing 4 options, "Continue reboot"-"Factory data reset"-"Wipe Cache"-"Safe mode boot". Anytime I have a problem I'll choose "safemode" which always got me back in after any "Boot Verification Errors", but now it doesn't & I'm stuck no matter what I chose. I'm starting to think I may need to connect my laptop and flash the KDZ starting from scratch with plain-Jane Verizon stock!?!? Whatcha think, yes-no-maybe so!?!? LOL
I want to ask that it hasn't any solutions yet??
I have flash Genisys Rom 2.6.zip than reboot that have a bootloop problem....
Will it be a solutions then?
Any idea??

Yes I flash it back those v20a bootloader, boot and modem after I got into the twrp, then I reboot it, it is stuck on the LG logo screen now...
and now I can't go back to the fastboot mode and the twrp...that 's the problem...
any idea to go back the twrp?
i'm stuck on same thing.
What I've tried.
! flashing back to stock rom using lg flash tool. Crashes at 9%. Tried flashing 20A file not allowed
both adb and fastboot methods don't work as adb doesn't detect phone and fastboot get's stuck on waiting on device
Basically the phone is stuck on boot logo after upgrading to marshmallow which all went fine and phone booted as normal after I then reinstalled the twrp recovery as before so to install supersu after boot that when the problem started. The phone can get into factory reset the two yes methods which I have tried still no luck and I can also get into download mode. basically am I waiting on a update to lg flash tool or have I ducked my phone any help would be appreciated
You probably ****ed the security flag added into marshmallow and it didn't like it one bit, that's why its better the flash newer versions of a rom when you have a recovery then an official ota ,that's where they get ya locked down .is there any devices in the device manager at all? Just checking if its hard bricked.if its labeled as q9xxxx something like that then its definitely hard bricked.like not even a jtag can get er back

No its listed as two different devices as LGE andriodnet serial port com4 and also LGE andriodnet usb modem. I have noticed that if i uninstall these two from within device manager that it then goes back to an lgmobile phone with a i on the phone icon in device manager. I have tried to find the proper driver so to make the computer see the lg phone again without error via extracting driver install exe but no joy it goes back to the above.
I wonder Is it possible to flash the .img files that are boot. system etc using lg flash tool the one with the tot methid via a script and the files I wonder. Or even convert the files needed to do a complete flash of system bootloader etc to bin files so to be read by the lg flash tool used in the tot version. or is there any other software that can convert kdz to bin.

I had the same problem. They recently reposted the download to a fixed 2.6 so try to redownload from the genesys post. Also, flash the marshmallow kernel and supersu right after, then followed by genesys theme if you choose to use.
Retry and retry to start twrp at boot with sleep button and volume down button.... I had the same problem with marshmallow because i forgot to flash v20a bootloader, and i had finally access to twrp after a lot of times...

Can you still boot into fastboot? Turn on with volume up, if so reflash TWRP, and then restore your backup, or flash a stock rom.

I can boot it into fasboot and I tried flashing TWRP, OxygenOs and even Cyanogenmod. Still didnt work.
Didn't work how, are you getting errors in console?. Can you flash TWRP and boot into it?
You have successfully bricked your device.
Don't worry use a Oneplus download tool to download stock firmware to your device in download mode.

The method 2 worked fine for me.
Go ahead..!!
Hope it helps
A bricked device is broken unable to be fixed, this is a soft brick as you can still get it to respond.
For future users if you broke something and want help please supply at least the following.
1. What you did, yes it's embarrassing but maybe someone can undo it.
2. What you are still able to do, can you access recovery, fastboot or adb.
3. What you've tried, if you try and flash something and get an error message let us know.
The more information you supply the better the chances someone can help. A simple my device is bricked help can't achieve much.
So I'm telling now how I got to this situation:
I'd installed a rooted OxygenOS with TWRP. I don't know how I thought it was a good idea to lock the bootloader after I installed TWRP, still did it. After that I was able to load in to fastboot, nothing else. Followed Method 1 on the link from Joyo-rocker and came to the posters message. Now I'm trying Method 2. Will update this post.
Edit: If your phone shows the boot messages "md5 checksum failed" with "cache:failed", "system: failed", "system_aging:failed" you need to fully reload your ROM over the unbrick tool. Look for Method 2 in Joyo-rockers link in this post (cant post links yet)

Go to the folder where the recovery tool.exe is. Boot your phone into Fastboot.
Search for cache.img, system.img, system_aging.img and put them in your ADB file folder
Type this:
Fastboot devices > doesn't show up? No worries I'll help you later this day just let me now.
Fastboot flash system system.img
Fastboot flash system_aging.img
Fastboot flash cache cache.img
If it boots and you don't have Sim and WiFi. Then reflash Oxygen OS and don't boot it! Boot it into Fastboot and type:
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
Now boot it and u can do whatever you want!

Why would you install windows instead fix the driver thing.
Was having problems with uninstalling the drivers. They would always come back so only way I could do it was by a reinstall of windows.
This was already mentioned, as i remember. Just let me search for a minute cause i had this same issue.

You see.. OOS had force encryption. Go to Fastboot and type "fastboot erase userdata" then go to recovery and flash OOS or any other rom.. Password should be gone now.
Okay. I'm desperate... I bricked my OP3 and have no money for a new one!
Here's what happened:
I was running the latest stable version of FreedomOS and everything worked perfectly. I got bored and decided it'd be a good idea to install CM 13. I booted into TWRP and flashed the rom then realized "oh wait i could install CM14" . I went to the XDA thread which said i first had to install a version of Oxygen OS.
Instead of just flashing the O2OS zip through TWRP like a normal person I decided to revert fully to factory settings. I found some instructions on how to do so. They said:
1 - flash stock Recovery
2 - run "fastboot oem lock"
I got this far and reaized that i F***ed up. My OP3 won't boot into recovery or system and i can't run "fastboot oem unlock" (it says remote unlock isn't allowed).
I tried the "Mega Unbrick Guide" but the msn download always fails and says "sahara connection failed"
Is there any way to restore my OP3?
Please say there is... I'm broke and can't afford a new phone... ?
Well, keep trying with that unbrick guide ... It's your best bet.
Btw, re-locking bootloader is not necessary, even if you're reverting to fully stock. It's pointless and can only cause problems, no benefits whatsoever. But now you know that already ...

Well first off, factory settings is just a wipe from TWRP I have no idea why you would install Stock Recovery and relock the device. That's like...LITERAL restore back to stock like before you even got the device.
Next is that your phone needs to be in fastboot mode in order to run OEM unlock.
Plug the phone into a different USB port and try it if not do a little more digging in the OP forums
No need to panic for as long as you have fastboot, you're all good..

it is important that you have the correct driver installed on your pc that the phone will be recognized as Qualcomm 9008

Hi guys,
I bought a used LG G4 with Android 6.0. I wanna make backup of the system partition before I do any modification, so that I can back what I have. So I guess that my bootloader is NOT unlocked. I tried also USB debug and OEM unlock in developer menu. But after connect to com port the "id" command and any else return "FAIL".
The question is now do I need some precondition to use Send_Command in download mode?
BTW I read many threads and this is not my first phone, so please be serios with me.
If you are on MM Rom it will not work. You need to downgrade (if you don't have a roll-back protection) to LP Rom.
If you have a roll-back protection and you downgrade you will hard-brick.
Also please specify the model of your G4, there are many.

IMHO it is not a very wise thing to unplug on flash because if you unplug before bootloaders are written you are in big trouble.

THE FOLLOWING METHOD OF ENABLING SEND_COMMAND IS VERY DANGEROUS. ONE SECOND TOO LATE IN PULLING THE CORD AND YOU WILL HARD BRICK YOUR DEVICE. ( @Agimax and I have personally bricked one each already using this method)
CLICK TO HIDE CONTENT
Copy ROM image to the root directory of your INTERNAL storage.
Carefully open Send_Command port:
Download & Install the LG Drivers & LG Up
Download LG_Root.zip.
Download ZVB TOT
Run LG UP with the ZVB TOT file
Once it gets to 9% on your PC (not on your phone)(and you see a green COM# on your phone screen) -[Takes 20-30 seconds at most], disconnect the phone and close LG UP. **If you f-up this step YOU WILL have a HARD BRICK**
Download and extract LG_root.zip
Connect your phone again and run ports.bat
Now check which COM# for LGDIAG port
Send_Command.exe \\.\COMxx
Command to flash is listed next to the download near the end of this post.
After you issue the command with Send_Command.exe, it should pause for about 2 minutes then go back to #.
Type LEAVE then pull battery when complete.
this is for sprint if u decide to do it use own firmwares for respected model

i never said it was wise smart or safe but it does work
this is before the bootloaders are written unplug is at the exact moment send port opens before writeing thats why its dangerous if it writes the bootloader ure screwed
Thanks for so much replies.
Anyway, I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and backuped all partition to internal storage. Then I installed lineageOS 14.1 and want to got back to stock. I started TWRP with adb and restore just system and system image, before I wiped cache, art/dalvik, data. Now I am in boot loader, or similar because the lg logo with the unlock text is still present. But it is no boot loop, it stays!
I can access download mode but, here is Send_Command tool not working.
I can access the recovery from LG where I can reset to factory. BTW does this reset also clear the internal storage?
So, any hints?
I was now able to restore a kdz file. And it boots. A question here.
When I now flash version 20i and I want revert ot 20g can I do this with LGUP? Because on some forum entries it is written only equal or greater version.
