Hi everyone, I've purchased a Redmi 7 outside my country (Argentina), and everything worked as expected. Then after some hours using it, the phone started updating. After the update completed my SIM card was not detected anymore and both IMEI numbers show up as UNKNOWN.
I've downloaded some tools to restore the IMEI but in order to do that I need to open Diag mode. The codes (*#*#717717#*#* and such) won't work, showing the message "Open diag failed". I've read that to enable Diag mode, the phone needs to be rooted.
To be rooted, the bootloader needs to be unlocked and to unlock the bootloader, I've to log in MI Account in the phone but is impossible without a valid IMEI.
I don't think I did something wrong since I just bought it and used it normally for a few hours with the SIM card working correctly.
I've already written an e-mail to the Xiaomi support contact but got no response yet.
What can I do? Is there a way to get into Diag mode without root?
Thanks in advance
You can try flashing a fastboot rom of your region through fastboot mode

I used my phone like everday and suddenly all apps not working.
Facebook stopped working.
Messenger stopped working.

So i restart my phone, and show me "Decrypt Password storage" i never set password or something like this.
I pulled out SD Card, SIM Card without changes.
And now i want unlock bootloader for flash system, but i cant, for unlock bootloader i need set in Call from "NO" to "YES".
In Emergency call not working others numbers only for Firefighers, doctors etc..
I have code for unlock bootloader i try unlock in flash tool by sony and "(remote: Command did not succeed)" same if i use "adb".
Bad situtation, can someone help me?
Sorry for my english, and thanks for help.
No you cant do anything ....you have to change emmc from a repair centre then only it would work....I suggest you buy a new mobile cause it comes costly or if you have anyone that has the same phone but has other problems with his phone take its emmc and get it repaired on a repairing shop

Service center is only your last hope, if you want still to use this device. This is really critical problem
You can try sony pc companion software repair if you didn't unblock you phone bootloader.

I did factory reset, network reset, i changed the sim, turned on safe mode and turned on-off airplane mode no luck. Sim works on another device but not on Mi A2 Lite. When i restart the device it asks Sim Password but phone says No Service.
If there is anyone who didnt update to v10.0.15 think twice.

Maybe the latest version has a new Radio version and it somehow messed your NVRAM, but I know this problem was well known for Mediatek devices not Qualcomm.
For my Mediatek devices the procedure would be the following:
-Get a IMEI Writing tool
-Boot up the phone to take a screenshot to Wi-Fi MAC and BT MAC
-Shut down
-Get a memory address database file for that SoC
-Fire up the program, set to write IMEI1/2, Wi-Fi and BT and fill out with the data from the box/screenshot
-Start up the phone in preloader mode and write the data to NVRAM
Now for qualcomm I don't quite know the procedure but I believe it's the same. You can also write IMEI's via Engineering Mode which should be built in your stock OS.
Command for SIM1: AT+ EGMR=1,7,”your imei”
Command for SIM2: AT+ EGMR=1,10,”your imei”
But to be frank with you, I don't know how permanent the second solution is.
On Mediatek the first solution sometimes fails when the phone battery is low. After charging IMEIs fail to show up and I have to sometimes reboot the phone to get it working again. But this behavior is only visible on custom recovery and rom, on stock it seems to be permanent.
Also check this link, there are multiple videos on youtube pointing to this tool: https://www.getdroidtips.com/restore-imei-network-or-radio-on-qualcomm-devices/
Hello everyone,
I have problem with this redmi 6a mtk phone.I need to say that bootloader is locked.
Every time when is booted up it says "this device is locked" with stock roms(not modified).
It is working well but when I connect to wifi or when insert sim card in few second I get that message and I cannot
do anything with phone.
So what I did because I have Mi authorization account for EVERY Xiaomi phones(thanks from an service),I downloaded
modified redmi 6a firmware from:
http://forum.gsmdevelopers.com/xiao.../68692-redmi-6a-cactus-modified-firmware.html
and I flashed it with sp flash tool successfully.
I booted up,but now I have another big problem,I lost imei and device ID,I can connect with wifi and everything but no imei so the device ID but at least thanks from Mod. firmware there is no pop up "this device is locked"anymore .I think that this phone does not have Meta mode because I tried that with Maui Meta to recover imei but without luck.
So I have question is there anything that I can do more with it to recover imei and device ID or is there any other solution to bypass that message "this device is locked".

Um...wrong forum dude. This is for Xiaomi 6. You might have to go to Redmi 6, there might be people who can actually help you there
Hello guys,
I bought a new S20 Ultra, 2 days ago, it was on Android 10, when I tried to update it via OTA, it showed a toast saying "registration failed".
So not knowing this is a problem, I simply downloaded Odin and Frija, used Frija to get the same exact ROM with the same CSC (XXV: Vietnam), and flashed it, so far all good, after starting, the sim card was showing "emergency calls only", I tried literally everything: Network reset, restart, re-flash another ROM, another CSC (no matter what I did, CSC didn't change on the phone).
I noticed that I can't change the network provider (stuck on Automatic, and shows a toast saying: "Error while searching for networks").
*#06# shows the IMEI code written on the back of the phone.
About Phone also shows the same IMEI code on the back of the phone.
*#0011# shows: IMEI Status: NG
I have searched a lot in this forum and others, and found that I should have backed up my EFS folder, following the instructions in this comment, I rooted the phone, and used Root Explorer, inside the EFS folder, there's no "nv_data.bin" file, I wanted to delete the IMEI folder, but had to do a backup first, then things went south flashing TWRP, so I stopped and re-flashed a stock ROM (removing root and everything).
I went out to a local repair shop, the person said that the phone isn't reading the sim, and it should be unlocked using a box (hardware unlocking). But I think that Chimera would do the job, but I don't understand why they only have a yearly sub, while some people need to use it just for 1 day :/
If anyone went through this problem, or has any idea, please let me know.
Thank you!
UPDATE: Apparently on the back of the device, it says: LIVE DEMO UNIT NOT FOR SALE.
While trying to install a Custom ROM, all went wrong with a hard bricked Redmi Note 8T as result.
Have been able to revive the phone in EDL mode (Test Points method). Now running again on MIUI Global 12.5.5 (RCXEUXM).
However, the IMEI's are nulled, can't activate a SIM card. Only WiFi works.
A first, essential step in the process to repair the IMEI's, is to open the diag mode. Found a few methods, but none of these methods work.
Not via *#*#717717#*#* (Open diag failed), not via adb devices // adb shell // su // setprop sys.usb.config diag, adb (Permission denied).
The phone is rooted with Magisk; recovery OrangeFox.
Does anyone have a helpful suggestion how to proceed?
Follow-on: Meanwhile, I've been able to open the Diag-mode. Apparently, one or two switches in Magisk had masked the rooting of the phone.
Now on to editing the qcn-file with the correct IMEI's. First,I have to figure out the location of the two IMEI's, and then to correct these into the correct values.
To be continued...

I have had the same problem with my previous Redmi Note 3. And I tried so may ways to re-write the IMEI number. Finally I found a little software on the net and using my computer I was able to re-write the IMEI number to the phone. I was a long time back, so I dont remember the exact name of the software. It was something like IMEI writer (root). Connected the phone which was also rooted. Then opened the software on my PC and the software asked for superuser access, which I granted on the phone. Then there from the pc using the software I entered the IMEI numbers for both sim1 & 2, and applied then reboot phone. After reboot, the phone then detected the simcards and the imei were back.

My current problem: I can find a .qcn file and have to edit it with the proper IMEI's. Found a Qualcomm IMEI Rebuilder tool, but that tool doesn't work. With a Hex-editor it is difficult to find the proper location. Found the location of one IMEI and then saved the file with a different name. Loading that file into the Rebuilder tool indeed shows (one) correct IMEI. Have installed that file with QFIL, but when I check with *#06#, it shows a completely different IMEI...
Meanwhile, I've searched for IMEI write (root). Found IMEI Tools (ROOT)_1.4_apkcombo.com.apk.
Prooved incompatible for my phone.
Then found qualcomm-smartphone-write-imei-tool-v1.01.apk
Tried that out, but couldn't establish communication with the diag-COMport.
In fact, I can't activate the diag mode any longer... Tried and re-tried, but all in vain.
When I enter the last command ('setprop .... etc.), communication via the USB port is also stopped. Re-establishing that doesn't make a difference. No COMport appearing in device manager or in QFIL...
You need special tools like UMT or Hydra to write Note 8 imei

UMT works with dongle? Price?
I tried Hydra, but got a Trojan Horse warning, and therefore broke off installation.
Umt needs dongle.
First restore original qcn(unedited) then try flashing ENG firmware.
!! Iam not responisble if anything wrong happens with your phone.
