Network issues -- update Radio? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
After installing lineageos 15.1 on my "new" 2nd hand Nexus 5X I realized that I got on-off network connection.
I checked the baseband version and right now I've the Baseband version M8994F-2.6.42.5.03 --- I couldn't find any information about that one.
but the actual one seems to be "8.1.0 (OPM7.181205.001, Dec 2018)", is there any risk flashing that one?
Is lineageOS insisting on a specific baseband version? (e.g. for compatibility reasons!)
and if I can do it without risking to spend the rest of my week working on my phone:
i know how to flash by fastboot, but I am not sure if I have to reflash recovery and system afterwards.
thanks and cheers
hirntot

Yes, you can flash a different radio partition independently of anything else.
However, radio-bullhead-m8994f-2.6.42.5.03.img is already the latest baseband from bullhead-opm7.181205.001.
I'm also on Lineage 15.1-20191008.

[Q] radio img?

anyone know if there's an updated modem img?
i'm having an issue that could either be the sim card or software related. if there's an updated/newer modem, i'll flash that in addition to getting a new sim. just trying to get this issue cleared up.
i see a package on the boards that contains a modem and some other items but its for color OS. i'm running team gummy. looking for way to just get the modem and update mine.
thanks, all.
no one?
Define what you mean by updated.
Just download the latest 1.2 color os update. It contains the radio binaries.
by updated i mean a newer version than what initially shipped on the phone. i found entropy's package, btw, and have flashed that.

Flashing ONLY the newest baseband on custom rom

I have a question that might be simple to answer, but i need confirmation because i don't want to brick my device recklessly.
When i got my Moto Z play, i immediatley unlocked it, flashed TWRP and installed LineageOS. So my device (including bootloader and baseband) are still on the state it arrived i guess. But my OS ist the newest LineageOS (so android 7.1.2).
My Moto Z play is an XT1635-02 32GB (bootloader adds P7 as variant), software channel must be RETEU.
My bootloader is C0.14 (from 2016-07-11)
and my baseband is M8953_10208.08.04-47e (bootloader says M8953_10208.08.04.47R ADDISON_ROW_CUST)
Are there newer versions of baseband (which might more important) and booloader? And can i flash them without problems?
Just flashing the NON-HLOS.bin in fastboot and i'm fine? Can i also use the 7.0-modem from RETAIL?
Sorry, these questions might be dumb and too careful for old users, but i'm only used to nexus devices and i am scared of bricking my Z play! Nexus factory images always had baseband and bootloader version written in the filename so it was easy to find out if you need to update. In addition there was just one "software channel" which made it hard to brick a device or flash something wrong.

I'm running the original bootloader and baseband from 6.0.1 without any issue, so I would suggest leaving it.
I don't want to get on the wrong side of you but that wasn't my question.
I wanted to know this because i'm not sure if i get the most out of my phone with an older baseband. I can't use VoLTE for example which possibly is activated with a newer baseband. Or it might improve the signal.

Well I'll suggest you only flash the baseband that comes with your specific firmware, if you flash the baseband from another firmware package you will end up without a IMEI and you'll have a expensive brick, which you will send to me so I can use the screen to get my mzp working again. That will be payment for warning you
Good one, flashallthetime
Back in, uh, I think Atrix time or even HTC Desire it was normal to flash/change radio baseband. It supposed to improve radio, prolong battery life... In reality, most of the time didn't do anything, sometimes broke something...
So in theory, you can do that. Should be fine but I wouldn't recommend.
If you have to, to get VoLTE, I would make a backup of the current rom, follow guide to flash back to stock and then restore backup. But be extremely careful, so many users over here bricked their devices. As far as I can see, downgrading and the accepting OTA.

OnePlus 3 A3000 USA Version Can't Get LTE To Work in Oreo

EDIT: To clarify, I mean regular 4G LTE, not VoLTE
I've searched everywhere for a possible solution to this problem, so I bring it to XDA, the people who know what I'm talking about first-hand.
I just got a reconditioned OnePlus 3 A3000 USA version and I'm setting it up on Cricket. It's currently on the same device running Android 7.1.1 with LTE and everything is fine, but I'm trying to start with a clean device, clone and backup the data on the old one.
Anyways, I've installed the following on the new OP3:
-- Resurrection Remix RR-O-v6.2.1-20181003-oneplus3-Final
-- Open GApps open_gapps-arm64-8.1-micro-20181009
-- Firmware: Stable5.0.6_Firmware+Modem_OnePlus3
No matter what I try, I can only manage HSPA+ on this device. I have tried using custom kernel (blu_spark), I have tried flashing earlier firmwares all the way back to 8.0.0, nothing will give me LTE.
I have called Cricket on the phone and had them re-provision my service manually. We verified the APN data was accurate and then re-provisioned. This also did not work on the new device, yet I remain with full LTE on the old device running 7.1.1.
I'm baffled as to what I'm not doing or forgetting to do here. I'm doing the following:
-- Format data
-- adb push/install latest TWRP (3.2.3-0 as of this writing)
-- adb push/install packages listed above (ROM -> GAPPS -> FIRMWARE, also tried FIRMWARE -> ROM -> GAPPS)
-- Boot and begin setup
If anyone has any suggestions or can point out something I'm clearly missing here, your help is appreciated. The phone was running LTE before all of this and all the other phones (my OnePlus One and other OnePlus 3) are running LTE just fine using RR. Thank you for your help.

i dont think this will work i think i have tried this exact one with no avail
As long as you didn't flash pie and lose your baseband that way, you can fix it.
If you're on stock just go to recovery and do a factory reset from there, it should bring your baseband back. However, if you've flashed a modem from a firmware not intended for your phone, then you need to reflash the correct firmware then recovery, factory reset. If you flashed pie not intended for your phone, you might be out of luck depending on what variant you have.

SM-T805 EFS corrupt?

Hi Everyone,
I have a chagalllte tablet from which I'd like to use its 4g function again.
It doesn't work anymore: both IMEI number/baseband version are unknown, and the SIM card is not detected.
I am running lineageos 14.1
I suspect something is wrong in the EFS folder, though no idea what it may be.
The tablet is rooted.
I know the original IMEI number and csc / baseband code, but how do I restore this information so the modem works again?
All right, so: quick update:
I found a LUX stock firmware (lollipop, 5) which I flashed onto the tablet. After letting samsung update it to marshmallow (6), it worked again ...
So, I backed up everything, and moved to LineageOS 14.1 again, and it works!
But: small problem arised: As I am currently not living in LUX, but in BE., the device always displays itself as "roaming". How do I fix that?
