Hi, today in the morning i noticed an issue with the touchscreen, especially, on the left edge. I noticed that issue while i was writing and trying to switch the key of numbers and letters.
While i try to write and press "?123 or ABC" key, sometimes it doesn't work and i have to press twice.
Have u ever noticed something similar? I have tried by changing the keyboard, restarting, calibrating and I can't fix the issue.
Thanks in advance.

same too , I hope it is not a hardware's issue.
I have the same problem. In my case, the other side of the touchscreen has the same issue as well (Gboard enter button). Did you guys check the touch sensor test (the one in diagnostics menu -> additional tools)? It seems that only two squares are affected. The left and right outermost square in the penultimate row. Try tapping fast, it's sometimes not registering. I really hope this is not a hardware issue though...
Have you tried to disable screenshot gesture? Please try it and report if the issue are resolved. I don't have a rdm8pro but on other redmi i have the same issue and the screenshot gesture of miui create the problem.

I already did it. I could observe the same problem while performing the test. I just want to know if it's a widespread issue before I return my phone.

it's exactly the same in my case , I have noticed that more happens if you touch repeatedly in the middle of the screen and then at the ends
sorry for bad english
I went to a local Mi Store earlier today and the unit they have on display suffered from the same touch screen issue. I don't think replacing the device would help as it seems that a large amount of them might be having the same problem. If anyone's device is functioning correctly, please let us know.
This is just in the corners , I noticed to.. when I want to press 123 to go to numeric pad, I noticed that the screen dont react in some times..that not the screen issue, this is more like ..I dont know how to explain it on English..but everything is ok with screen when you press the right place..
Try press this line that I marked on this screenshot and you will se that the display is not responding.. this is not hardware or software error.. this is jus the line on keyboard that have no function and not react when you touch it. But when you touch right place on number 123.. everything is ok..
So ..your phone and everyone else is working fine.
Also this is just happened on keyboard..on other apps, this place on screen also like in CIT test working..

You mean you are unable to access this particular test? Just tap the 3 dots in the top right corner of the screen when you get to the CIT test menu. Then select 'Additional tools'. Tap the 8th item on that list which says 'Touch sensor' and you will be greeted with that test screen.
apparently if it was a software problem, update a few minutes ago and the problem seems to have been resolved

Hello everybody,
today I have to ask if somebody has a solution for me
When I click sometimes on different apps just with the finger they minimze. I don't know why is there a special gesture or something? Its really strange..
FTouchFlo is disabled of course..
But maybe my device is just going to die
You know what, i have had that happen to me too!! Mine mostly happens when I press the centre key in the dpad, but i think it has happened one other time when i didnt use that key too.
I dont think its your device, might be something that has to do with WM6.1. Never had that happen in WM6.0.

This behavior is very strange..
I didn't noticed it with the dpad keys yet, just when pressing the touch screen somewhere.. It also seems to happen more often when the memory is very full or pressing on the right screen edge. Regards

I agree with ICE, it does happen to me when using touch screen also. Maybe its an alignment issue?
It is an alignment issue! I am having this too! Touch screen smoetimes thinks that you press upper corner of the screen! I think this is Windows Mobile problem but also it may be a hardware issue!

I guess early WM6.0 releases had some screen alignment issues, but the more i read, it is related to hardware issue...LOL
I have the same problem!!!
Never had screen alignment issues, but my screen has damages from stylus on the "X" button from pressing there and on the scroll bar from scrolling while surfing the internet, I think that is the cause of the problem with my device..
I must say it is really annoying and made me realize I will NEVER use stylus in my life..
Just my 2 cents..
I've noticed the same problem occasionally, and from memory it (maybe) happened a lot more on some of the early WM6.1 ROMs. I haven't noticed it for a while though.
Do you think its the same as in the wiki? HT646 on http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Problems
Where the right corner keeps touching. If you've got any xbutton installed, its bound to minimize. Some of the problems farther down link this to the screen heating up and eventually not working till it cools down.

Well it happens even in the morning when the phone is fully charged, and hasnt been used/touched/handled in over 8 hours, so I doubt its a heat issue.
Shamanix, are you saying this whole problem may be caused by the HTC X Button software?
Happens to me also but only since I switched to 6.1 ROM's
I also had this issue on 6.0.
Can't really believe that this is an hardware bug, maybe a special hermes "feature"
Yesterday, when I was scrolling over the edge I saw the x button going down *lol*
Would be interesting if kaiser users have the same problems.
No I am not saying it is because of X-Button software... I said that I have damaged my screen when I was pressing "X" and "OK" button with stylus in the top right corner and that I have damaged right part of the screen where the scroll bar is again with stylus while I was surfing the web and scrolling so now when I press over the damaged area ( right side of the screen ) I can see X button going down just like Pay said..
So my problem is in damaged screen...
You can`t see the damage, but you can feel it with the stylus...
i have apps closing in random occasions as well. it didn't happen before using wm6.0 but it happened on almost every wm6.1 rom i flashed. i try avoiding the htx x button so i don't think it's related to it.
Im on WM6 with ftouchflo enabled and x-button bind to close apps. Happens to me also sometimes A bit annoying but I think I'll manage.
There appear to be many issues concerning the screenpart of the Hermes. I am not suggesting that this problem actualy is one of them but you might have a closer look to the space between the screen and the plastic of the housing. My whitescreenissues and the screen alignmentissues many people suffer from are caused by the thin layer of foam that HTC sticks the screen to the housing with. I recently put some new foam/tape in between and it helped me with my whitescreen issues. In the beginning I put to much and at that time touching the top plastic parts caused all sorts of reactions normally caused by touching the screen,.
Just a thought...

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that my optical joystick doesn't scroll anymore. The button still works if I press it down, but I can't scroll through any text fields. Its not a deal breaker, but I was wondering if anybody else ran in to this problem and if there is a solution.
Is it dirty? A couple weeks ago, mine stopped responding and it was a thin film of something over the button. I cleaned it and all was good.
I've tried cleaning it, but hasn't helped.
I've also found out that with out the optical joystick, I can't access any of the menu items when I'm in recovery.

I found the default trackpad file that may help but I'm not sure. Flash this through recovery. Use your volume buttons to move up and down like suggested earlier. If it don't work it won't hurt your phone. It's the original trackpad mapping file. If that don't work then I would suggest using your backup ROM and see if that works.
ejdavis72
I'll give this a try tonight and let you know how it works. I should also state, that flashing my original recovery image didn't help either. I'm pretty sure that is a hardware failure, but I'm still holding some hope.

The optical joystick works in ClockworkMod for me. I think that's what he's talking about. (Implying that it's not the ROM).
Well, sorry that it didn't work.
Sometimes I wish mine would stop working. Damned thing scrolls my home screen randomly.
Anyone know how to intentionally disable the scrolling ability of the trackpad but still retain the click function?
Hi
The letter p is no longer responding on my touch key board. I can press many times and no response.
Also the backspace button is not that responsive.
What's the best way to fix this? Is there something I Can change in the settings or do I need to have the hardware repaired?
Thanks.

Hello everyone, I worked out a solution myself so I thought I would share it with the rest of you.
a google search would suggest that I should try another keyboard, and having tried a few this made no difference. what i then realised was that I have an app called sidebar installed which was on the bottom right hand side of my screen and was affecting the p button as well as the backspace button. I have moved the sidebar outside of the keyboard range so it's no longer an issue now. Thabjs.

It seems that there are some dead sensors or something in the upper right hand corner of my screen.
I'm getting these 'phantom touches' that keep pressing whatever is in that corner.
I'm wondering if there is any way to turn this part of the screen off, so it doesn't continue to register touches that aren't actually happening.
Does anyone have a solution for this issue?

My cousin used to have this problem, she couldnt touch some parts of screen So she needed to use her phone on landscape mode
In order to see what parts have problem on play store write toucscreen test etc
No software solution
it's a hardware problem ..Your touch screen needs to be replaced
EDIT: Fixed it (for now). Copied from my post on site 2.
What's up guys, I'm sorry for the late followup. It turned out, that I was too lazy to send it back. Now, almost a year later, I'd gotten into fixing phones and got the courage to open up the device and see what's up with the power button. It felt like the issue has been a bit less noticeable recently but I checked the replacement parts prices and how to open our phone up.
I think I've fixed the issue by adding one layer of electrical tape over the button-contact. I believe the issue is that the pin a just a little bit too short to reliably properly click the button.
Short tutorial:
Turn the device off and remove the simcard bracket.
It's actually super easy and you don't need to screw or remove anything. Google "Xiaomi MI A2 LITE disassembly screen battery smontaggio" you'll find a video, in the beginning the guy shows how to remove the backcover. I've used a hard, plectrom-looking "opening-pick" at the bottom, then carefully but firmly around the sites. You don't even need to remove the flex cable from the back, just make sure you don't rip it off. Cut off a short bit from the electrical tape, tape it from the battery to the contact, so it doesn't fall off. Close the case again, turn it on and check whether the powerbutton still clicks (doesn't stick) and test the screen lock. Post back if this has worked or if you've tried it.

Does anybody have a similar issue?
I've ordered the device from gearbest to Europe. Everything worked nicely.
However, recently when I hit the power button it sometimes triggers the double click interaction and opens my camera. I've tested a few ways to press it slightly from the side, with more force or less. However it will 1/3 times vibrate and start the camera like I had double clicked it, it's more likely when I hit it a bit too lightly though. Could it already be worn out after 2 months? This never happened when the device was new as far as I ran remember.
Yes I'm aware that I could change the camera shortcut but this doesn't stop me from worrying about whether my powerbutton will give out soon.
I was using the phone happily in the case Xiaomi has provided. Dropped the phone once and got a little scratch on the VOL Button but other than that, nothing crazy has happened. Does anyone have a clue whether they will still replace it? I'd gotten it in mid-August.
<message deleted>
Buttons are usually the main gate to "planned obsolescence". I bought this device after my nexus 5 power button started working funny (I physically removed it and worked only with gestures). So, now I try not to press the button unless necessary. I unlock with fingerprint, and lock with Greenify.
In other words. Make sure of it, if the button starts working funny, I'd file a warranty claim. Or it won't last long and warranty will expire eventually. It can happen with this device and with any other piece of tech.
My opinion.
If you do place a warranty claim, let us know how xiaomi's customer service works in Europe.

when you dropped it
the power button may have got stuck
this is possible and I've seen it on some other devices
you can open it yourself if you don't care for warranty like i do
but the safest option is to claim warranty and yes they would replace it

I have the exact same issue. It started when I installed the Oreo update, but it could be a coincidence. I'm still looking for a fix.

It obviously is not a software issue. This means that they've used cheap contact points on the button if this happens to many of us. This is a hardware issue.

I'm having this issue since day one. It is obviously software, otherwise the same contact problem would occur when turning the screen ON, but it never happens. Solution is to disable the feature under System -> Gestures -> Jump to camera.
i also dissabled the camera gesture because of this issue.
im sure this is reasoned by a more or less loose power button and not an software issue

How can that be a software issue? Same issue happens to me whenever I use the power button, either to lock the screen or unlock the screen. Also if it was a software issue, it could be fixed via installing a GSI. That doesn't fix it either.

Let me break it down and you can tell me if I'm missing something.
1. Many users are reporting that the camera app starts when pushing the power button to turn the screen off.
2. They are not reporting any other issue with the power button, like the camera app starting when they try to turn the screen on, the button being irresponsive, or the camera app NOT starting when they deliberately push the button twice.
3. The problem reportedly goes away if the double-push gesture is turned off in settings.
Do you still think this is a hardware issue?

When I disable double press gesture from Gestures, still when I sometimes hit the power button, the phone locks and closes the screen and then turns the screen on again which means that it still registers one presses sometimes as double presses. Also if you've ever used a keyboard or a mouse or anything electrical with buttons on it, these appliances do the same sometimes even though you tap one button they sometimes register it twice. Which is a hardware issue. I still can't see any software issue here. When you disable the double press gesture, it doesn't launch the camera anymore but it turns on the screen after locking it (sometimes as usual)
