Does the Galaxy Wearable app compatible with Android 10?
I'm trying to install the app on my Huawei Mate 30 Pro, sideloaded the Galaxy Wear apk and when I try to connect my Active2, it prompted me -
"Notice
Check whether your system software is compatible or needs to be updated, then try again."
Thanks
This is disturbing news. I follow with interest.

You may have to sideload all the relevant apps to get it to work:
Galaxy Watch Plugin
Samsung Accessory Service
Samsung Pay
Samsung Push Service
Not sure if these are all you need... "Google" is your friend. There are several posts on the internet about this but from what I've read, Sammy won't release Android 10 versions until they release One UI 2.0.

Possibly not. When I first started Android 9 beta on my Galaxy S9, Samsung had not yet released a compatible wearable app so it didn't work on their own phones. So it's possible that Samsung won't release a wearable app compatible with Q until they start their own Android Q program.
Does that mean that when Sammy decide to drop the Android 10 Beta to Galaxy phones, they will update the app?
Or need to wait till the proper release of Android 10, when is out of Beta?
This is ridiculous! This will render my Active 2 to be useless until Sammy update the app!!!

This situation is frustrating. I can confirm there is no way of getting Samsung Wereable work on Android 10, and Samsung is happily ignoring any request made via email to their support team.

Actually I think I was wrong. Looking back, the wearable app never worked with Android 9 beta. P final release was out for quite a while before the wearable app was updated and worked again. So unless it works by accident or Samsung does a better job, don't run Android 10 beta if you want to use the wearable app.
Google "Samsung wearable app not working with Android 9 beta" and you'll see what I mean.
Good point, wait for the official 10 release for your phone.
Some are having success using the Wearable app without Samsung Pay. Here's a Sammy Community thread that may be of interest:
https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-Watch/Galaxy-Wearable-App-crash-Android-10/td-p/817856

I really wish they would change this way of doing things. I have chosen such an expensive smartwatch because I hoped to have a flawless experience.
I understand that Android 10 is still considered "beta" on every device except for Google Pixel phones, but still that's not a "Beta 1" nor "5". We are talking about a fully working OS beeing released to an ever growing number of smartphones.
A couple of days ago Samsung started recruiting beta testers for the Galaxy's line (if I remember correctly only in the United States and for the latest model): are those users expected to put the smartwatch in the drawer until next year?!
I know there is no solution. So please beg my pardon for this digression, but really things like this make me wonder if - in the end - a simple 50$ smartwatch wouldn't have been a better compromise.

same problem
I have the same problem with my Galaxy Active 2.
I use a Xiaomi Mi9 with the Xiaomi.eu MIUI 11 (Android 10) Rom. The app can not be found in the Playstore. If I download the app and install it, then I come to the pairing. Then I get the same errormessage.

Okay, somehow I managed. I haven't reproduced it again now and try to remember as well as I can:
- uninstall all Samsung apps (Galaxy Wearable, Samsung Accessory Service, Watch Active2 Plugin and Samsung Health)
- TWRP > Delete Dalvik & Cache
- Restart mobile device
- restart clock
- the message "Let´s go!" appears.
- scroll down to the bottom and press the "?"
- scroll down again and set up the clock WITHOUT a smartphone via WLAN. I have linked my Samsung account here as well.
- check in the system if all updates have been downloaded
- connect the clock to the mobile device via bluetooth
- now reinstall all Samsung apps. My version of Galaxy Wearable is 2.2.27.19083061.
- I have activated the Galaxy Wearable in Magisk Hide
- launch the Galaxy Wearable App and pair again
- the clock restarts automatically and wants to be connected now
afterwards I successfully installed the clock via Galaxy Wearable App.
How is this going to work if the bootloader is locked, and can't get TWRP recovery?

Was wondering where i could find an updated Samsung Gear App that will run on Cyan 14 / Android 7.1. I miss my syncing of steps / notifications sent to my wrist.
I know that there was one out there, but it was old and wouldn't sync with my Gear Fit 2. the one i have direct from app store says "unofficial system, cannot use". Starting to hate how Samsung is starting to lock down things and become more like Apple. Heck even the Microsoft Band works on Android, Modified or not.
Thanks for any info!!!
The S3 got a lot of bad publicity because some of the available apps for the watch could only be installed if the wearer's watch was paired to a Samsung smartphone. Is this the same with the Galaxy Watch? I am seriously thinking of getting this watch but lack of access to the available apps could be a deal breaker for me.
You can install apps from Galaxy Apps in a Samsung smartphone, but you can download them also directly from the watch, even if you are not connected to the phone with Bluetooth.
The bad thing is that when you download an app from the watch, you cannot see the screenshots or detailed information, and I think paid apps are not shown.
So basically you can download free apps from the watch, but the functionalities are very limited (I don't know if Galaxy Apps store can be accessed through the Galaxy Wearable app in non-Samsung smartphones)
Thanks for the insight. I've read a lot about this lately. I bought an old Samsung Galaxy S5 on EBay for €30. I hope to initially pair the watch to this phone, install all the apps I want. A lot of users say that you can then backup the watch to your Samsung account, unpair from the Samsung Phone, repair to another Android device and then restore the backup. I hope this actually works.
You can access Galaxy Apps from the Galaxy Wearable. There is a link in the Settings. Works on my SONY Xperia XZ Premium.
I have no problem accessing Galaxy App Store on Lenovo P2
I have been researching on other forums and it seems that some apps on the galaxy app store will only be shown if the connected phone is from Samsung. The Here We Go app is apparently not availabel for non-Samsung phones.

I think it might be regional issue. For example I'm not able to find Samsung Internet Browser or Speedo On apps. Although, I'm not even sure it the latter is available for Galaxy Watch. If someone has that could you send it for me.

Hi,
Using Xiaomi MiMix2s with Glaxy Watch app Galaxy Wearable.
All functions in Galaxy Watch app works except weather location setting.
Weather / Settings gives me an error like "connection not successful".
Even use current location does not work.
Galaxy apps has connection, all internet access works on the phone.
Just bought the watch 3 days ago. So, it is pretty new.
Everything is under default setting and also did one software update when turned it on first time.
Any ideas ?
Thanks

Hi, I can't answer your question, but I wish to know how you got the Galaxy Wearable app, on your Xiaomi
Did you try turning on location in settings>connections?
Hi, any idea how to fix the problem with location in weather app?
I have mi9se Android 10 and have the same exact issue with weather app on gwa2.
All permissions for wearable app on a phone are on.
I have the same problem.
My smartphone is a Xiaomi Mi8
I have tried with several ROM's and with any AOSP ROM, it works correctly, but with a MIUI ROM, the same error appears as everyone.
It's reported to Samsung, but they haven't answered me yet.
If with an AOSP ROM it works and with MIUI it doesn't work, then the problem is in some incompatibility with MIUI.
The weather app on my watch gets all info from the weather app on my Samsung phone, which was pre- installed. I believe the app comes from The Weather Company. My guess is that you can add locations if you install that specific weather app on your phone.

I don't think it has anything to do with The Weather Company app.
I don't have any App of The Weather Company installed in AOSP and the location works the first time.
The problem is in MIUI. There must be some restriction and it is almost impossible to find out the cause of the problem.
In any case, I have sent the report to Samsung along with the fault log. Let's see if they answer me soon.

But could there be a workaround?
I'm not familiar in depth with the Samsung Notes App, but for the core functionality you'd need the S-Pen APIs to be available on the phone, which is only possible on Samsung Phones/Tablets with S-Pen. I'm not sure if the notes app functions on touchscreen phones only (i.e. S10, S9 and so on). If it works, then it still might be possible to port it over, but the amount of work is still considerable and complex.
So as I said, the Mate 20X is no Note device. If you like the Note software, get a Note. Otherwise you're stuck with whatever is built-in or available on the play store.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I guess the sudden interest in that comes from the recent addition of handwriting recognition to the Notes app. There are alternatives, that you can use with Mate 20 X, if that's your cup of tea....

Hi
I have recently setup LineageOS on 2 different Samsung tablets -
LineageOS 17.1 on Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e
LineageOS 14.1 on Samsung Galaxy Tab S2
On both tablets I have the same problem with the (new) Smartthings app.
After installing the app from the Play store, I can open it, but then after clicking either "Get Started" or "Sign In" from the menu, the app immediately crashes.
I can use the Smartthings Classic app successfully.
Any help or guidance would be sincerely appreciated, as the S2 has been setup as a dedicated smart home control device. Without Smartthings working, I'll probably look to go back to stock.
Thanks you.

Smartthings is an app for samsung devices. With LineageOS your tablets are no longer real Samsung. Many apps will fail. Try to find open source alternatives. Smart home can be quite privacy invasive.

Hi @kurtn - thanks for your reply.
Smartthings can of course be used on non-Samsung devices.
Since I've been using Lineageos I've successfully downloaded and used all other apps - this is the first one I've used which doesn't work.

Smartthings crash on Lineage OS with samsung tab s2
I have the same problem, galaxy tab s2 8" (wifi 2015). Just installed lineage 16, everything works but the new smartthings app, crashes as you state. Smartthings isn't just for samsung devices as a poster suggested, I'm running the app on an iphone as well. Hopefully someone figures it out.
Solved
I changed:
ro.product.brand=google
ro.product.manufacturer=google
And the app worked after reboot
The values of course were samsung previously. My guess, smartthings checks if its a Samsung device, then does something Samsung unique and thats not supported by the lineageOS.

I greatly appreciate your sending that file my way, but sadly it cannot work for my use. Basically I need to use the Smartthings app on my Samsung Galaxy note 4 running Lineage 18.1 (so that I can see inside my smart fridge and or use my smarthings home security system) but unfortunately all the samsung apps check whether your device is a samsung device or not, so unfortunately as soon as I install any version of smartthings the app will not open after I install it. One work around that I trial and errored from reading this thread is going in with root, every time the word Samsung comes up in any of the Build props I simply changed them to "google" but unfortunately that then makes lineage run unstably on my phone What I need is some sort of modified smartthings app that does not check what brand the device is, or somehow a program that spoofs my device manufacturer name.
