So I recently got a new note 10+. I'm having a small issue in that signing on to my banking app with my fingerprint isn't working. It lets me turn on that option but never actually prompts me to use it.
In checking the apps permissions I clicked on the all permissions list. Does this list show all possible permissions or does it only show permissions the app is currently granted? because I noticed that even if I turn off a permission, like camera, and then go to all permissions, camera is listed and it says it can use it. This applies to any app it seems. I'll attach a screen shots from another app to show you.
One gives you the ability to disable/enable permissions for specific apps/services the other gives information about permissions the app uses.
So the list is not something I can alter in any way - it's just showing me what permissions it's using? Does that mean it HAS permission to use those things? Or just that it might use those things, if given permission on the first screen?

Right now the default program is Paper Artist, which I don't care for, specially since I don't know how to disable all of those fruity filter overlays. I'd rather open it with something different.
Ideas?
Update: just froze Paper Artist with TB, looks like it might be hard coded to use that app
sent from my ginormous Note II
Clear defaults for that app. You Must have set it as a default. When I do a screen shot I get like 6 options. I never set a default app to handle screenshots.

You are wrong. No defaults is set for note2 and it will directly open paper artist without any choice. The edit key is junk and you must open the picture and select edit. Then you can use your own editor.
spent over hours and still cannot find a solution to make the "edit" button on notification bar to work with other app. giving up and wait for a patch
Not the best solution, but this worked for me: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/29473/ok-android-jelly-bean-reset-app-preferences/
As the OP realized, the Note II is hard-wired to launch Paper Artist by default in that instance, even when no defaults are defined in that particular app. Put another way, it's in the stock ROM.
If flashing another ROM outright isn't desirable ( and is likely overkill ), there are still a couple of options. For the benefit of future readers who stumble upon this page :
• See if there's an Xposed Framework module that takes care of it, possibly as part of a package along with other mods. If unfamiliar with Xposed, take a look here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/framework-xposed-rom-modding-modifying-t1574401
• If the device is rooted and Paper Artist will likely not be used in any context, the app can be frozen—or outright uninstalled—using Titanium Backup. Titanium will issue a warning if uninstalling, because Paper Artist is a stock app… but it's also a standalone app and will not cause problems if uninstalled. That said, freezing is of course the safer option. Either way, the impact will be the same : the post-screenshot message in the notification panel from then on will change to "Screenshot captured – Touch to view your screenshot". Tap it and it will open in the stock Gallery, and from there the image can be taken anywhere by tapping the Share symbol at the top ("Share via…" pops up followed by a list of every app on the device that can open that file type ).
That last option may look more involved than it is, but it's only one extra step : instead of screenshot direct to editing app, it's screenshot to Gallery to editing app. Also note that whenever the editing in question involves only very basic functions ( cropping, markups, framing ), it can be done directly in the stock Gallery app, without necessarily taking it further.
Is there an app (with/without root) that can allow me to control the apps with location permission? In iOS, there is a location-setting which can be used to enable/disable location access for individual apps. With Android, the only option seems to be none or all.
Thanks in advance.
I always have location off and use Tasker to enable GPS for apps that I know need it legitimately.
Each app has it's own localization options. Look for them

+1 I would like one app for do this.
If you have root this will let you approve or deny access to such data whenever the app requests it.

I switched over to Cyanogenmod, and am looking for a resizable photo frame widget similar to the stock touchwiz one. I am preferably looking for one that does not have any unneeded permissions (Although I can find ways around that if need be)
I would like this because I like to keep a picture of my cat and my best friend on one of my homescreens.

check out https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.greenturtles.photoframe&hl=en
I like it because it allows me to set a certain folder as the album source to have on slideshow.
I checked that one out. One of the permissions concerns me though, namely
READ PHONE STATUS AND IDENTITY
Allows the app to access the phone features of the device. This permission allows the app to determine the phone number and device IDs, whether a call is active, and the remote number connected by a call.
Why would it need this? It seems unwarranted for a Picture Frame to know my phone number and device ID's. I suppose with some sort of Permissions-Denied Esque app I could change this or deny that permission though.
Yea not too sure about that permission, but Ive been using it for a while without any problems
Does it come in multiple sizes. I mean Nova Launcher can resize them and all, but I was just curious if it did. I also found a Gridlike one somewhat like the HTC which needs very few permissions, and thats only for some features on it I will never actually use.
Either way, Permissions Denied can solve this problem
Hi,
New to the forum, I've had my S9 plus (UK) for a few days now but I'm having issues with the weather apps.
BBC weather does not work at all, as soon as it's launched it closes and it shows an error message.
AccuWeather seems to work but the widgets are not working for it. I normally have an widget on my home screen but it as soon as I put the widget on it just freezes and shows the same error.
Are there any issues or any solutions to this?
Thanks!
seems maybe like permissions problems - if you dont allow permission to each app to track your location - they will not work - id go in the app management and check permissions for each app
Thanks mate!
It was a permissions issue on both apps, had to allow permissions to location and clear cache and they started working.
Its about strange as soon as I installed the BBC weather app and opened it, it would crash, I thought the app would automatically request permission but didn't get to that stage. Had to manually allow permissions in the app settings.
Thanks again mate, really appreciate it. Hopefully this will help other people.
accuweather crashes all the time on s9+

Some apps that use media have some goofy bugs related to how the media permissions changed in beta 2 and 3. Try going to the app settings and removing media permissions and adding them back. It was changed from media to music/photos separately, then changed back as the new permissions was pushed to Android R (I think) instead.
I had an issue where Google Photos wasn't showing recent items from my camera roll. Turned the permission off and on again and now it works fine.
