don’t listen to anyone about heating, I’m a fan of MMORPG, I play every day for 2-3 hours in a row on the phone and all those who say the phone heats up to 50-52 degrees, this is not true, after 2 hours of play I have the phone warmed up 46 degrees, under the cover it feels like normal heating, I advise you to take this phone, you will not regret it

I think we should keep this thread focused in twrp! We can discuss in other threads about the phone itself.
So, can someone describe the process of installing twrp?

Yeah it worked as the thread says that's a good start hope someone port rom or gcam also.
My recomendation is not try to flash the custom recovery, only boot it if you want to install something like magisk
how come that none of the above works on mi redmi note 8 pro :s
i tried every rom and nothing works..
even if i instruct it to boot from the rom im trying to flash it wonk work
it pops some kernel ramdisk error

But there aren't any custom ROMs for redmi note 8 pro. Do you mean maybe flashing/booting the recovery?

Hi, I don't know if this applies to new versions of miui, but In previous versions it was necessary install the Lazyflasher after installing TWRP. :cyclops:
Nope, lazyflasher doesn't do anything.
---------- Post added at 04:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:23 PM ----------
The custom recovery works only straight after flashing it and the first reboot. After the next reboot it gets overwritten by the stock recovery. Flashing magisk bricks the device, so back to fastboot and flashing the stock rom
will release third party rom?

A fellow member asked for instruction to getting Remix OS installed on Teclast X16 Plus, thus a simple write up below:
1) Download the necessary drivers - https://www.mediafire.com/?p723or9hxip5eu8
2) Download the Remix OS ROM (latest version from Teclast page B2016062701) - http://www.mediafire.com/download/84723txtl4gklzu/B2016062701.rar
3) Install the drivers in this exact sequence below
- iSocUSB-Driver-Setup-1.2.0.exe
- IntelAndroidDrvSetup1.10.0.zip
- PhoneFlashToolLite_5.5.2.0_win32.exe
When you reached the PhoneFlashToolLite installation, you will be prompted to override some of the earlier drivers installed, it is fine to override and proceed
4) Run "Phone Flash Tool LIte" , click "Browse”, go to the folder where you have downloaded and uncompressed the Remix OS ROM, choose "flash.json" and click ok

5) Shutdown your X16 Plus from within Android, after which press simultaneously "vol up + vol down + power" buttons, release them when you see the words "DNX FASTBOOT MODE" on the screen
6) Connect your X16 Plus to your PC / laptop, if doing it for the first time, wait for the devices to be detected properly and drivers installed, by the end of which you should see on "Phone Flash Tool" a connected status and "Start to Flash" box turning blue.
7) When the flash is successful, the progress bar will turn green and shows 100%, the tablet will be disconnected automatically as it reboots, you can unplug the cable and let it boot up. The whole flashing takes about 2mins 45secs for me.
My views on the pros and cons of Remix OS:
- real easy multi windows tasking
- very solid battery life during standby
- UI is fluid and responsive
- yet to encounter an app that is incompatible and apps run well
- if a mouse is connected, right clicking will bring up functions similar to that of windows and mac os
- still a work in progress as some settings that is considered basic are not available, like "Battery"
- does not support widgets
Thank you very much.
in process, thank you for the howto. Only one thing, the intel android driver you provide,is blocked by my windows 10. He talk about an untrusted origin...downloaded from intel´s webpage.

Hi. A new x16 power owner here. Any update on root?
Is there any chance this would work for the X16 Pro?
Hi. I tried to install this but can't seemed to install well. Just saw the remix os logo and then it got shut down. And I lost my windows os on the dual boot session at the beginning.
Anyone knows how do I get my windows os back and got this remix working too?

Hi Potatohead,
I just want to understand well (cause I'm able to root phones or tablets, but only with a detailled methode from guys like you ^^):
Is it a multi-languages rom ?
It it a rooted rom ?
Is it a dual boot Windows/Android or only windows or only Android ?
Is it "attractive" for a basic use (I mean, for my girlfriend ^^)
Thanks a lot !
Rino (from France aka the no go zone !)
Manage to get windows reinstalled. Wonder why remix is not available for x16 power though. Will be great if able to.

It's halfway working and there's a couple other threads about installing it. Several different versions of that model make it more complicated. You may need to swap in a different gpt.bin to make it flash if it's a c2e3 model. Camera, rotation, and sound wouldn't work for me. YMMV

Hi JuanSan10
I received my X16 Plus 2 days ago and started to hack around. I managed to get a working TWRP and flash SuperSU from there if you're interested in gaining root privileges on it.
I would be happy to create a post to share it in the developers section but XDA rules doesn't allow me to post there before I posted 10 messages in general section (too bad for this time, though I understand the rule)
Would you be interested by my TWRP for the X16 Plus in order to be able to flash superSU through it ?

I registered on XDA exactly to do that, create the tutorial and provide the recovery. Unfortunately I discovered the "5 to10 messages before to post in developers section" XDA rule after my registration ?
It looks like I can post yet though, so I'll create the tutorial and host the TWRP image soon enough.

You can uncrypt your phone but if you.flash a stock rom, the kernel at first boot will automatically encrypt your memory again. There are 2 different encryption, one by code and one with standard image key. At this moment the twrp will automatically uncrypt the system key but you need to manually write the code (if is setted). The tool will uncrypt both method, the flash of stock rom will re-uncrypt with system key but not with code key

Just got my Pixel 2XL the other day and am excited to root and start modding. I have been monitoring this thread just to see what issues people are running into but it looks like not many people are even doing this surprisingly. I mean that's why I bought this Google phone, so I don't have to deal with locked bootloaders that these carriers put in them to discourage rooting. I know this phone is also locked but it's not for the purpose of keeping people from rooting them. I just think that it's so odd that this thread has very little activity.

The device is very expensive, has dual partitions, has gotten a lot of bad press, and not near as Dev friendly as some others. Having said that, there are about 5 custom roms, root, exposed, substratum, and various launcher and active edge mods. So it's not like we're hurting too bad ??

I already tried disconnecting the battery and it doesn't even work.

Apparentely you need to reinstall drivers and the device filter.
Try removing the device filter first and then reinstalling it too.
If you can, try in another computer.
Try to download and use the attached zip file, it is preconfigured to MT6768.
I get the exactly message you got with missconfigured drivers and device.
Certainly you need to check them.

I hope we can see all the partitions on this device demystified too.
There are many unused things on the device.
Many partitions have large sizes for few contents.
Other partitions are never used.
I would really like to know what they are all for.
I have tried with two different PCs and the result is always the same, I already tried uninstalling the drivers and installing everything again.

Probably it is not fully compatible with Lancelot.
I'm not sure.
I've tried with Dandelion (Redmi 9A / MT6765) and I can't bypass too.
But with Merlin, it works like a charm.
We need to keep watching the project and hope for newer releases as soon possible

I am faced with the issue of the fingerprint reader not working.
Tried fixing it by running the calibration procedure (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...er-print-after-loss-data-calibration.4132961/) with no success.
If anyone of you has an operational fingerprint reader in their red magic 6 pro and they would like to help me fix mine, please sent me the persists.img of your phone so I can flash it in my own and get the reader operational again.
There is another post that describes the procedure on how to extract the img from your phone from the forum:

I've read for another phone that they were able to restore the functionality with the persist of another phone. I understand that the sensors are calibrated per device but it seems that the issue is more related to the security of the root rather than persist being actually corrupted.
Are you aware if I flash stock rom again if there is possibility for FP to work again?
why don't you extract it from the payload in the original ROM?

If I am not mistaken, this is a per device partition and is not included in any ROM. As I understand it, persist.img contains all the sensors calibration data for the phone.
This is why I request from someone who has the same phone to extract and share so I can have a chance to save the FP functionality in my phone.

Understood. Yes, it's not a ROM file. I may switch to this device in the next day or two. Don't mind giving you a copy of mine if you haven't got it by then..

If you solve your problem please share with us.
You can directly use the persist image recovery of red Magic 5 mobile phone. The effect is the same. I have tested it
Hey guys!
I also lost the "persist" and with it almost all my sensors...Someone please share with me. I know it's not calibrated for my phone, but it can only be better :/ I've read all the RM6 forums that google puts out, but I can't find a solution :/
Thank you very much!

Now that the entire kernel source is released, is anyone working on building a custom recovery and rom for this device? I was looking at building orange fox recovery for it but I couldn't find how to make it with android 13 decryption support.

You build, I'll try.. I'm decrypted with r/w permissions already. Used dfe neo and RO2RW by leegar, termux method and flashed super.img with fastboot.. Seeing as how we don't have recovery yet

Ohh ok. This phone is a little different from my last one op9p..recovery was inside ramdisk..so usually I would boot twrp.img and flash recovery to ramdisk..
I tried fastboot boot twrp.img..it switched to slot b..so I had to set active back to slot a..my mistake
I'll try your method and report back. Thanks!

Hello. Installed your TWRP, but the internal memory is not displayed and there is no active OTG. Did you do something wrong ?

This isn't my twrp.. I'm already decrypted, so I just test it. I could read internal storage on mine. Your probably still encrypted, so it wouldn't work for you.

Extract the file to a directory then put your phone in bootloader, connect your phone then go to the directory you extract and click on 8pro****.bat (*** for some chinese character). Your phone will then boot after it is done. However this is not a free rom you can run it for 30 minutes and you will have hard time to get back to stock rom since this rom modify the stock rom partitions.

I going to buy it from the maker he going do some changing to English with full support
Have someone tried that miui 14 rom? Are there any screenshots or something about what happens after 30 minutes? Might be possible to just remove that restrictions, but unless there's an easy way to revert back to stock (EDL or something), don't think it makes sense to flash it. Better wait for someone to build a proper CAF/CLO ROM (i.e. Paranoid Android)

It's MIUI, there's nothing that could fix that
That's not the point tho. Gonna assume no one yet tried flashing it (so the potential drawbacks not including 30 minutes lifetime are unknown. Should be always possible to remove that from ROM anyway). And we still don't have any way to unbrick, ZTE doesn't want to give us the flash tool for bs reasons.
