What is considered the best alternative to stock? Forget Textra, as you can not sent share video through that app....
I like qksms. Install via fdroid for free access to qksms+

Hi all, I use ChompSMS for my messaging, and was wondering if I could use titanium backup to remove the stock messaging app safely? Would I still retain MMS, etc?
If not, is there any way to hide it in the default SE UI? Some app/tool?
Think chomp is standalone, so I would day yes, you can uninstall/freeze it.

no chomp doesnmt offer sms or mms replacement. If you remove stock you wont recieve any texts. You can use handcent though and remove stock that will work fine thats what I got.
Go sms pro is bestone!!
And with this app you can uninstall stock sms app.

+1 for go sms
Thanks everyone. I tried GoSMS, but I really don't like their handling of blacklisted threads. I've been using Chomp for a long time so it's what I'm used to I guess.
I'll try freezing/uninstalling and see if things go haywire. I'll update the thread.
have you tried using handcent? They have excellent cutomization. But the bubbles are so ugly I hasve to use android theme style.
apps like backup Master?
Is there any way to get the chat heads( of Facebook Home) integrated with the SMS app?
New ParanoidAndroid has that feature.

You can change your build.prop to a gs3 or something else supported. Or use the modded messenger apk.
Can anyone recommend a gallery app that isn't QuickPic? I like it, but I can't share photos via mms using the stock messaging app. The developer attributed it to HTC "not allowing it anymore."

I just tried to share a picture from solid explorer, and the stock messenger app isn't an option.
From this I presume that no other photo galleries or third party apps will work either. (Sharing other content to the messenger app works, just not pictures)
I use JustPictures! (http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.justpictures). It can access my PicasaWeb and SmugMug photos as well as what is on the phone.

None of the alternate photo apps allow sharing/sending via MMS and its REALLY annoying. Wish I had a better answer! Bothers me greatly too! (stock gallery app sucks imo)
Personally I think the stock gallery app is the best of any of the phones I've had in the last year. That doesn't mean I like it all that much. Quickpic was my go to over stock Google, which completely sucks, but I'm in the same boat as the rest of you with the One. Sorry no help, just joining the rant.

Can anyone make the STOCK messaging app (UniMessagebin.apk) NOT convert the message into MMS when including emojis using the STOCK keyboard? Like GoSMS Pro and other 3rd party messaging apps? I really like the stock apps because they look professional (imo).

Best SMS app I have ever used. I've used GO, stock, handcent, textra... some of the more intuitive sms apps. This is the best one I have ever had installed on an Android device. Highly recommend you guys give it a shot

MMS seems to be weird for me on it. What settings did you use to make it work?
