Can anyone make the STOCK messaging app (UniMessagebin.apk) NOT convert the message into MMS when including emojis using the STOCK keyboard? Like GoSMS Pro and other 3rd party messaging apps? I really like the stock apps because they look professional (imo).

so as the title says i am looking for an sms app, something better then the stock google app that is in CM7.
What is a good one?
Try Handcent SMS, available through the market, very nice app.

I've used both gosms and handcent. As far as looks go, gosms looks more polished. However, if you are having time stamp issues, go with handcent. Functionally, the two are very similar.

Hi all, I use ChompSMS for my messaging, and was wondering if I could use titanium backup to remove the stock messaging app safely? Would I still retain MMS, etc?
If not, is there any way to hide it in the default SE UI? Some app/tool?
Think chomp is standalone, so I would day yes, you can uninstall/freeze it.

no chomp doesnmt offer sms or mms replacement. If you remove stock you wont recieve any texts. You can use handcent though and remove stock that will work fine thats what I got.
Go sms pro is bestone!!
And with this app you can uninstall stock sms app.

+1 for go sms
Thanks everyone. I tried GoSMS, but I really don't like their handling of blacklisted threads. I've been using Chomp for a long time so it's what I'm used to I guess.
I'll try freezing/uninstalling and see if things go haywire. I'll update the thread.
have you tried using handcent? They have excellent cutomization. But the bubbles are so ugly I hasve to use android theme style.
apps like backup Master?
Apparently you can't send texts to groups in the messaging app of CM10? If it's there I can't find it. I mean I can find groups in the contacts app, but can't send any of them texts.
Edit...this started as a question but after no answers, I'm left to assume group texting is not possible with the stock CM10 SMS app. Anyone recommend Handcent or Go SMS on CM10?

Update...a great workaround from Elixis...a free app ChompSms. It's icon even looks almost like the stock. Love it so far. Be sure to also get the free emoji add on for Chomp. It has over 400 symbols.

Is there any way to get the chat heads( of Facebook Home) integrated with the SMS app?
New ParanoidAndroid has that feature.

You can change your build.prop to a gs3 or something else supported. Or use the modded messenger apk.
I was using go sms than sliding messaging.
Loved the quick sms on sliding but as laggy. So I switch back to stock tw
I loved go sms because of the emoticons.

ive had really bad experiences texting people with iPhones. they dont receive go sms apps that well. (unless theyre JB) which sucks cause a ton of people have iPhones.
personally i use the native SGS3 messaging app, or line app for my family overseas. (its free! )
Gosms pro, there is some things i dont like about it but I haven't been very impressed with other SMS apps. I use the stock SMS app at times to send pictures over wifi calling but that's about it

I use the stock messaging app with SMS Popup... Works fine for me. I like that I can respond to texts without unlocking my device (although that could be a bad thing for security - but then again, I just use swipe to unlock anyway since I guard my phone like Fort Knox).
