I have this problem with some icons, they have the wrong shape, and I can't find any settings to change it.
Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Some apps like Amazon for example don't have an adaptive icon. Some launchers will try and make an adaptable icon out of a standard icon if the adaptable version isn't available.
you can change it with the app adapticons

You can yes however this will only work in the launchers, (not system wide) unless you get an icon pack from the Samsung store. Soo, in recent apps, for example, the icon from adapticons won't work... Unless your rooted and use lawnchair launcher with quickswitch, in which case the icon will also be applied in recent apps.

Could anyone tell me how to eliminate the Battery symbol and time in the notification bar? I have the bar hidden right now, but I use a different app to monitor the battery, so I don't want two indicators up there, and the time is useless since I have an app on the screen showing the time.
Thanks for the help in advance.

you will have to do this with a custom home screen (aka launcher.)
not sure which, launcher pro or ADW but one of those can modify those settings to a certain extent. I dont have exact details but someone can provide them. also that might require root... are you running root? how about any custom roms? I am pretty sure cyanogenmod comes with ADW, and that in CM adw you can modify those. good luck --josh
I'm running sky raider 2.5.0 and it has launcher pro in it. There is no options for that. Oh well. I'll figure it out eventually.

what is the easiest way to extract individual icons from icon packs so you don't have to universally apply all icons within a pack?

I use nova launcher which makes this easy. Just press and hold on the icon you want changed. When the menu pops up, select settings (the cog wheel). This will bring you to a menu that you can change the icon image, name and also assign a second action when swiping the icon opposed to just tapping on it.
I hope that helps.

Yup that helps except I'd like to use the stock launcher. There you can add icons from gallery only not an icon pack so that's why I wanted to know if we can extract the pack.

The easiest thing you can do is use extract the apk using 7zip, or you can use root explorer as well if you long press on the icon pack apk and extract it as well. You can also decompile the apk and pull the images from the xxhdpi, xhdpi folders, what icon packs where you looking at, I can extract some for you and just post the zips

He is not trying to do that, he is trying to extract the icons he wants to use and put them in the gallery because he can change the actual system icon and not lose notification functionality. Its a slight different concept because you can longpress on the icons and literally change it like iconchanger, but its built in and you use images from the gallery

Yea except that it doesn't because it doesn't just theme the system icon, it creates a completely new on separate from the system and you lose the notification number, you don't need icon changer..... He just wants the icons so installing icon changer doesn't fix anything, because he still needs the icons so if you read what he is asking, he wants to extract icons

I am also looking for basically stock Android icons extracted...basically the ,png for the phone, camera, people etc. Anyone know where to get them? I've been on the google machine and I've gone on the line and still can't find a serviceable .png of these simple icons. I don't want to switch from the stock launcher, and simply want to replace the current icon with a different (stock android) one.
Thanks in advance.....

He only wants to extract single icon from the theme, so I think ThemeX is the right answer
So does anyone know where the system "Icon gallery" icons are kept on this G3? Which folder and what format are they?
I'd like to be able to directly place icons in there, so they come up when I try choose a system icon.
Seems there are limited LG G3 themes available at the moment from LG.
Hi,
Like many of us i have move to nova launcher with a set of custom icon.
So i was looking for a trick to get the same icon on the edge panel to match with the homescreen.
Sabeersas member have done an app WizIconizer which let you replace your icon easily of touchwiz launcher and side effect the icon on the edge panel of our note.

You mean this?
Yes
Works for me. I like it.
Galaxy icon themer also works. On play store by xperiacle. You need to reboot though for the change to take place in the edge. Main homescreen happens immediately.
Unicon works just fine... just reboot and it will apply to the system.
Edit: Now that 5.0.1 is out and we dont have xposed, I gave this app a try amd it is confirmed working on Lollipop!! XD
Thank you OP!!

Thanks, none of the other apps had worked for me. I have Lollipop BTW.
I'm on a Hyperdrive ROM 4.4.4 and all my icons for the edge screen will not change. Any ideas?
icon pack used in pic ??
was hoping you can share with me what icon pack was used in the screen capture of the pic you posted for the example in initial post. i really like the clean look without the square borders that all other icon packs seem to have. iv searched high & low for a similar pack but with no luck. if you could share this exact icon pack name i would greatly appreciate it, thanks in advance,

Hi,
I received notification for update to 7.1.2 ota.
I have seen some videos shown that 7.1.2 has circular app icons.
I am thinking to move or not to the update because I don't like at all the circular icons.
(I still have phone and messages apps not updated because of the circular buttons)
I prefer my device just like it is now.
Do you know if there is any setting to have the update but the UI to remain as it is?
Any other solution except to use another launcher?
Only the Pixel phones have circular icons, no need to worry.

I haven't updated my phone/messages/contacts apps from playstore and I wonder if applying the update will change these apps to the newest versions where the icons are circular.
Phone and messages icons that I don't want to change can be seen in the attached photo.

What do you mean?
I mean caller app(phone), messages app, contacts app.
If you see the screenshot I have attached previously I am using the old ones.
In playstore there are updates (for me) which change icons about these specific apps.
Youtube is full of videos which show the new icons on 5X (no launcher).
Check in attached screenshots how the updated icons are but I haven't still updated.
(Also in update description it says <<new icons>>)

Yeah those are circles on all versions of Android, I don't know why you're so resistant to change of any kind, but you do you. The new dialer and message apps are much better than they were when they had the old icons.
But no, the update doesn't have updated versions of the apps.

it is possible to switch icon layout as you want
but a rooted device need with custom recovery
i can switch those icons root needed to do so
due to signature change and unsign apk
also launcher icons persist to change icon layout due to own icons
but they will also can change with custom ones without
changing the launcher custom recovery need
also check icon pack if you need so it is possible or not

Nova launcher does not require root and I'm sure there are a lot more if that is what you are needing. While I am rooted I do not believe I have to be for this setup. I downloaded an additional app called min icons for the icons.

Try installing a 3rd party launcher like Lawnchair 2 or Nova Launcher. Nova in particular has settings for just about everything, even how icons look and if they can be adaptive or not. You can even change all of the icons' shapes.

I think you mean the navigation bar? Any theme will let you change the navigation bar. And there are quite a few custom navigation bar apps on xda labs.
If you don't like substratum, you can try Swift installer as well

In /system/priv-app you can delete the "quickstep" launcher, and replace it with the stock Launcher3 from Oreo. This will give you the ability to change the icon shapes, and give you back the older recents menu too.
Just make a folder in /system/priv-app named Launcher3 and set permissions on the folder to, 0755 or rwxr-xr-x. Then put the APK in the attachments into that folder, and set permissions for the app to, 0644 or rw-r--r--. Then delete the quickstep launcher and reboot.
Edit: This also works on GSIs too.

Well, that's the stock launcher, so it isn't a custom launcher. And you can change the icons to whatever shape you want by long pressing the home screen.
