How to root Asus Zenfone 5z on pie ? Pls help
Yes I'd like a simple guide. I've failed miserably trying to install custom ROMs, even following the guides. And that's after having done same to many previous phones. Something about the 5Z seems to be tricky - maybe it's because it's the first A/B phone I've played with. I'd be happy with just rooting the stock ROM.

I am interested in this phone too. I am deciding whether to buy it but I want to be able to unlock the bootloader.
Since I don't have it, did anyone try the method for the other Zenfone 2 models on this ?

It doesn't have the same CPU. It has the older gen Atom Z2560. I presume you'd have to go to the Asus ZenFone 5's threads to ask this. Maybe their custom ROM will work on this little guy.
Nothing that works on the ZenFone 2 works on the Zenfone Z550CL. << Edit, sorry.

If you are stating about the ZE551ML and 550ML, every custom rom works on the 550ML but change the resolution and it works perfectly fine.

Yes, saw original before you edited, however, no one as far as I know have tried the methods of unlocking the bootloader, rooting and installing custom roms from the Zenfone 2 550/551 or the Zenfone 5 on the 500CL so it could work and nobody knows.
Same was happening with 550ML before someone tried out the unlocking method and roms from the 551ML.

It won't work though because the CPU is entirely different.
Like it's the old Atom Z2560 all the Zenfone 2s have the Z3560 or Z3580, that's why it won't work at all whatsoever.
The ZenFone 5 is the forum you have to refer to because it has the same CPU in the 500CL.
I believe it's been called a "Rebrand" before.
Hello looking for a working solution to disable or bypass PIE (Position independent executables) on:
ASUS ZenFone2 (2GB Ram version)
Android 5.0
WW_2.20.40.139
I have apps that aren't working due to this error logged in SuperSU. I seen another thread on this but seems as if they are having issues with it and boot loops, I rather a fix for specifically this device if anyone knows?
Thanks.
Same for me Asus zenfone 5 lineageOS 14.1...need to bypass pie...please help...:crying:
So say install stock asop Android 6 with Gapps on Asus zenfone 2 with an unlocked bootloader. What has happened to any of all you with your device? Was the os bootlooped or any other issues I need to beware of?
You can say goodbye to your phone...
Marshmallow isn't ready for the Zenfone 2 yet, it has an Intel X86 processor in it, most other phones use ARM...
Do it and you will have a brick...
Actually there is AOSP build of Android 6.0 for this device,
you can find it at http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/development/rom-android-surce-project-t3287218
and if stock meant google stock aosp build then i agree with you.
i have not used it so cant say how stable/usable it is atm, however there is also cm13 build as well
Thread closed per OP request.
Hello, am new to pixel device... My previous device was Xiaomi Mi 11 , my device carne with A13 !my question is there any way to downgrade to A12 I want to flash derfest A12 my fav ROM .. thx in advance
Hello, welcome to Pixel land.
First, in order to flash a factory image, you'd have to unlock your bootloader. If you don't know already, click the yellow How To Guide quick filter at the top of the list of threads in this section and you'll find 3-4 threads that tell how. I also have a link in my signature below - you can use the link for the Pixel 7 Pro - the instructions to unlock the bootloader are the same, and the OP of my Pixel 7 Pro thread is much better organized than my one for the Pixel 6 Pro, in my opinion.
After that, the only way you can downgrade (and have everything working, and not brick your phone is to use one of the two Android 12 Developer Support images for Pixel. There's an Android 12.0 build from February and an Android 12.1 build from July. They will never receive updates, however.
You can always manually flash a Pixel 6 Pro stable Factory Image to re-upgrade at a later date, or use the Official Google Android Flash Tool (OEM Unlocking needs to be toggled on - you may not have to manually unlock the bootloader - the "site" will do that on its own) to re-upgrade.
Any of the stable Android 12 builds at that factory image link should not be flashed because the Android 13 bootloader cannot be downgraded to an Android 12 bootloader, and if you flash everything from 12 Stable but the bootloader, it'll appear to work at first, but it truly won't work correctly - it will not be useable.
If you unlock the bootloader, you should also make sure the Android 13 bootloader is flashed to your inactive slot as well, to avoid the possibility of accidentally bricking your new phone.
Thanks for the fast reply sir much appreciated .. I got the idea ... My device stock unlocked and rooted .. now my question is if I flashed the July A12.1 developer ... Can I flash custom ROM based on A12.1 like derpfest etc ... Sorry I mixed up things here little harder than xiaomi

You're welcome. I don't fool around with custom ROMs except on my 6-year-old or more phones, so I can't answer that question. Part of the best things about having Pixels is the software features Google starts off exclusively on the Pixel stock ROMs.
Hello morning this is my first time ever flashing a pixel 6 pro and i don't want to make too many mistakes and completely brick the device. can anyone tell me the right steps to take before flashing a gsi and to get root access. also, I would like to know if the gsi Corvus os 4.1 (12L) can work or any other gsi that works best for the pixel 6 pro. thank you
i dont have much experience with gsis but the experience that i have had has been very bad, i would recommend flashing a rom like evo x, ricedroid or lineageos, just follow the install guides carefully and youll be ok
