Messages app notification sound settnigs - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

Cannot find option te set notification sound in messages app settings. It is possible in general device sound settings but causes the same notification sound in all apps. Is it solution ?

Open your message app
Next tap on the person message you want to customize the notification sound
Next tap on the 3 dots on the top right corner and select custom notification and tap one more time to enter the customized field
There look for sound
Thats it
Hope this helps

Unfortunately when you delete a thread with an individual where you have set a custom sound, the sound goes back to default.

You can also use Textra App. Amazing UI and customization with that app. Support Dev with pro version to unlock other useful features.

Only if you don't use RCS (well I can't find anywhere that third party apps support it).

If your looking to change the message app notification sound it self then do this

Yes that's it.
I didn't notice in first look that "new messages" and "general notifications" could be double tapped with further possibility to set sounds.
Thanks for that and for previous posts as well.

[Q] Absolution ROM - A few Q's

Just rooted and installed the Absolution ROM and am loving it .
Just a few questions:
I want to change the wallpaper to one of my own, but can't find an option to do it - Or the folder where the 'stock' wallpapers are so I can put my own in there?
I don't want the email alert to go off everytime a push email arrives in Hotmail!! I have the notification sound set to silent for mail, but it seems to return to my default notification sound as soon as an email arrives?
Would ask this in the dev section, but I don't have enough posts to start a new thread!!
Any help??
For wallpaper you can normally change it from your launcher.
Clic on menu (key under the screen), wallpaper, choose Galerie and broose to the one you want on your SD.
This depend of your launcher, it's like this for ADW.
For notification sound, it depends of the mail application you're using I think.
You can define the default no in Sound in Settings (don't remember if you have detail or just global notification sound). Sorry, can't check more as I'm under ICS.

ADW > wallpaper only gives the option to intstall from Absolution wallpapers - No other option. So if I knew where it was storing those pictures I could save my own file in there.
The problem with the mail notification is that I can change the mail notification to silent, but as soon as a new mail comes through it resets itself to the global notification sound.
Cheers anyway.

☆☆ (MOD/HOW TO) Make the "FLASHLIGHT LED" as another Alert/notification......

☆☆ (MOD/HOW TO) Make the "FLASHLIGHT LED" as another Alert/notification......
Ok for ANYONE wanting to make the LED on the FLASHLIGHT light up as a notification.
ALSO this is my first try at making a thread on "HOW TO" so bare with me please...
**First preferably (root) I think makes the phone run smoother but NOT required**
Now you need 2 apps. Flashlight Alerts and FLNotifier.
FLASHLIGHT Alerts-- is also paid or FREE! from the Market
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...xLDEsImNvbS5ycnNsbGMuZmxhc2hsaWdodEFsZXJ0cyJd
FLNotifier -- is also either paid or FREE from the Market
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwxLDEsImp1ZzZlcm5hdXQudXRsLmZsbm90aWZpZXIiXQ..
Next install them both!
Now to get FLNotifier to work fully you'll need to "ENABLE" the (ACCESSIBILITY) option/feature on the phone.
Settings>Accessibility> Enable/Check Accessibility> Enable/Check FLNotifier and Flashlight Alerts.
Now go to the Flashlight Alerts app in your app drawer and once the app opens, enable/check "Incoming calls" and "New text messages" or which ever you want to flash.
Flashlight Alerts will NOT continue to notify you if you missed the call or txt after a certain time... That's were FLNotifier comes into play.
Now for FLNotifier you MUST have Accessibility ENABLED. Go to the app in your app drawer and once the app opens, you can enable/check which app you want to have the Flash light up to. To get mine to work with just alerts and messaging I clicked the "Show System Apps" at the bottom left and scrolled through till i found "Alert Recipients" and "Messaging" and Enabled/Checked just those 2.
Finally you can click the "Defaults" tab at the top right and mess with the options of flash ratings and repeat notification flash for how many times and repeat intervals ETC...
If you have any questions you can pm me or email me.
[email protected]
Hope you all enjoy!
~btw im running Calkulins E4GT ROM v2.9.2 with EL29 Kernel and EL29 Baseband and Modded PRL for roaming on verizons network in bad Sprint areas.
Should have posted this in Themes/apps or at least in General for more views but thanks mang I'll check it out.

Small Question with Calendar

Running stock, rooted, Sprint.
When I set a reminder for my calendar, is there anyway to just get it to go to the notification bar? I don't want a full "alarm" which it does now where I have to swipe to clear the reminder and it takes up the full screen. I just want a simple notification in the background on the sidebar and a ringtone to go when it sets. Anyway to do this? It seems like it would be simple but I haven't been able to find out how to do it in the settings.

Heyyy old question, late reply. Maybe you won't need it anymore.
If I understand the question right, open your Calendar, and click your Settings softkey (bottom left beside home button)
Scroll to Settings
Click the Account Name (ie [email protected])
Scroll down to "Notification Settings"
Place a check mark
Then hit Select Ringtone (just below it) and switch to Silent.
Hope that helps.

sound effects

Hello, I just wanted to ask you if there is a way of changing the default sound effects (anoying clapping) for samsung sound effects.
Thanks for reply and sorry if I have many queations.
Or any other sound effects. Anything would be better....
Gmail
Settings > click on your email address and select "inbox sound & vibrate" under the notifications section click on sound to change the notification sound for gmail
Messaging app
Settings - notifications - notification sound
Phone
For the phone the ringtone is going to be whatever you set in the settings app then you customize the other apps as outlined above
For the sound files, seach "Stock Samsung Galaxy System Sounds" on xda.

Question Little dots on Apps missing on new messages

Hi there!
I don't know how they are called in the english original, but on my P6P I really miss the little dots e.g. on the Mail App when there are new messages.
In my options it has this option and it is on, but there aren't any of these dots. I really miss them, cause so you always have to pull down to see where there's something new when you are already using your phone.
Anyone a conclusion for me?
In the GMail app? I can't picture the dots.
That's called "Notification dot on app icon" and can be found in System Settings --> Notifications, down near the bottom.
It can also be turned on and off on a per-application basis by going into the application specific notification settings at System Settings --> Notifications --> App settings --> {whatever}, and switching on/off the option to "Allow notification dot" at the bottom.
But personally, I dislike this "feature". If the application notifies you, then why not click it instead of running around through your menus trying to find the one with the dot?
Thank you for the right name of what I'm looking for
But no I don't run around looking for these dots, I just open the phone and mostly there are WhatsApp or Mail news and I always have to look inside to see if there's anything new when I don't want to swipe down for my notifications.
The Settings are all set, but there are no dots for me!
Don't know if this matters, but I use the Nova Launcher.

You need to allow notification access in Nova for the dots or badges to appear. Go into Nova settings > Notification Badges and then tap the message at the bottom of your screen to enable read access to notifications.
You can also check if notifications have been disabled by going into System Settings > Notifications > Device and App Notifications and checking if Nova is enabled or disabled.
The hint with the settings brought me to the solution I think. It seems you need Nova Launcher Prime for the dots
