XT557 Defy (Republic Wireless)

I'm attempting to flash an unsupported ROM to my DEFY using RSDLite, but the only drivers that I'm able to get XP to see this device are from Motorola's website and it's called "MotorolaDeviceManager." It loads the drivers as Motorola AT COM port, but RSDLite does not recognize any devices.
Please help. Also, can somebody suggest an SBF to load? It turns out that once a phone is deactivated from Republic Wireless's network, it cannot become activated again, so even if this phone starts working after ordering a replacement, they won't activate again.
Nevermind! keys: power+vol+ sent into flash. I kept trying power+vol-+vol+ which turns the phone into a com port.

Just a word of warning for anyone else who is trying to do this... Republic Wireless' Rom contains a lot of things that makes the phone itself work on their network... Unless you can find some way to bring those into a new rom... You would lose your ability to use Republic Wireless as your carrier. I see that techjohnny has deactivated his phone already, so I'm sure he doesn't care.
Have you made any progress with adding another rom? I'm curious.
Need Help.. XT557D stuck in boot loop...

Xperia s LT26i headache.

So just got this xperia s lt26i, it was locked to orange! yes not EE but orange, i got in touch with EE and they nicely provided required credit to cover cost of official network unlock by sony and bam a day later i got the email for unlock, so all good right? not so much.
the phone is on 2.3.7. which is rather dated. im aware ther is a 4x update available via xperia companion or SUS is menna work too.
they dont
my phone just wont be recognised by XC or flashtool.
when i try put phone in fastboot (vol down and plug in while power off) it goes green light then pc trys to install s1 download driver but then fails saying device unplugged just as its starting to say install driver after searching preconfigured drivers.
ive tried various usb leads, install and uninstall XC. even older sony companions and nada. its doin me head in coz the wife is whining that she can only do this n that coz its old android urgo the apps are old also.
i tried SUS and that says it cant even connect to the net. the handset says its on the latest firmware in settings so cant update ther?
im at a loss. im normall pretty savvy with android (to a point) but this i cant suss. and im getting mad lol.
i mean is odin a thing? can it even be used to stick official roms on this thing? i dunno but dont wanna brick it at the same time

Can't extract data from Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 (SM-A520F) screen is broken

Hello,
Recently, after dropping my phone, the screen became slowly non-responding to touch (lcd fluid leaking), and ever since the screen became fully black (I can't see anything) and therefore made unlocking my phone impossible. (I have the pattern to unlock and the sim pin) I really want to extract data from my phone, but USB debugging is disabled on it, auto play doesn't work, my pc detects the phone but can't extract any data (I can only see the phone in the hidden icons, devices and printers (marked as "non-specified) and in auto play and but the only selection I can make is either "Take no action" or "Ask me everytime") I've tried several android extraction softwares, but most of them are not compatible with my phone (Samsung Galaxy A5 2017, SM-520F) I've tried Dr Fone, PawLab, FoneLab, (These are not compatible with my device) and Kies 3 can't detect my samsung. Connecting a mouse to my phone wouldn't be useful since the screen is pitch black. I am very desperate and I have no ideas left on what to do. My phone still works, it can charge and connect to a computer but it's locked and usb debugging is unfortunately disabled... Any ideas on what I can do to extract the data from it? Thank you
edit: nevermind actually

Nono..sorry I forgot that Samsung encrypts their firmware so you can't access it via TWRP.

Oh ok... So got no ideas on what I can do then?
Same situation
Hey, I have the same situation here: Broken screen on Galaxy A5 (2017) SM-A520F, therefore unable to unlock and/or turn on USB debugging; no recovery program seems to support it.
Why would Samsung encrypting their firmware prevent us from proceeding?
Wouldn't the first step be to flash a new firmware anyway?
Or are you saying that storage data is also encrypted?
What are the AIO recovery solutions out there doing exactly? It seems they start out by trying to install some recovery...
It really feels like it should be possible to save the data. Come on, can't we do this??

Just restore Google or Samsung backup on your new phone. Basically the only option.

ATT Z2 Force Fall-through from normal boot mode

So I just got this phone yesterday, and tried to update it via the Motorola Smart Assistant.
Clearly something went wrong, cause now the phone will not boot. It will load up AP Fastboot Flash mode, and nothing else can be done.
All I want is it to be on Oreo. I have read lots of guides, but I do not know which is the most simple way of doing this. I don't really want it rooted, just stock android.
Can anyone help?
I have the firmware for oreo, I just don't quite grasp how to get it running on the phone now. My pc does not seem to detect the phone anymore.
First, post, please, photo with error.
Then get latest Motorola drivers installed, and LMSA too. Is connection stable? Genuine cable? Use USB from the motherboard port directly? Other USB devices do work?
After you get phone be visible by PC you can attach diagnostic info that gives "fastboot getvar all". Download Minimal ADB package (see google, or here XDA), launch cmd, then this command.

I had the same problem when trying to upgrade from 7.1.1 to Oreo.
I power off and on again with volume button down press and reconnect USB cable to PC
With the same Motorola Smart Assistant software open, click on Rescue tap
At first no action, but after few trials, the software re-flashes the phone and brings it back to Oreo boot screen.
You can also read the procedure from the post#2387 in the link below

Good luck.
I just got my Z2 on the 25th. Bought brand new directly from Moto ATT variant. I just used the setting/system/System Updates. The phone came with 7.0 and I used the above to get it to 8.0.0. It actually took 4 times to get to Oreo but never had any problems. I've never trusted those up-date apps. They seem to work fine on some phones and not on others.
I'd do a factory reset and try to update through the Android settings.
I'm not rooted or anything just locked up ATT stock.
Or try this:

Thanks guys, I just asked for a replacement and got a new one shipped and sent off the messed up one. I'm not even going to bother updating this, as I am selling it anyway.
