Bluetooth cutting out note 10+ - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

Hi all,
First post here. I've had a good look through all of the thread regarding note 10+ issues and cant see anything that relates to this, so if someone could help me that'd be awesome.
When I listen to audio via Bluetooth, my audio cuts out every 2-3 minutes - sometimes sooner. It does it with youtube and spotify. I have used the same headphones with my galaxy watch and get no issues so it cant be a problem with the headphones.
I have tried turning bluetooth optimization off to increase the Bluetooth power output but that still hasnt had any effect.
I've also made my bluetooth visible in hope that would do something.
I have used bluetooth on my note10+ to connect to Android Auto and had no issues with playing music in my car so surely it cant be a bluetooth problem??
The headphones are the wireless AKGs they were giving away with preorders in Australia..
The latest firmware and software is installed for the headphone.
Any ideas?
Cheers

I would try a few things,
1) Test with another set of headphones anyway as it may be some incomatability
2) If your headphones have an app see if you can change BT profile aptX, LDAC....
3) Test the same apps on speaker, you may be having data interrupts and not BT at all

I have the exact same issue. I have narrowed it down to the bluetooth codec.
1) It does it for me only while I have WIFI tethering activated
2) I can stop the problem from occurring by selecting "AAC" as the bluetooth codec.
3) When you open the AKG app, it returns the codec to "Scalable Codec", so you will need to change it back to AAC again after making EQ adjustments in the app.
To fix:
Settings > About Phone > Software Information > Tap 'Build Number' 7 times. This enables the Developer Options menu.
Settings > Developer Options > Bluetooth audio codec: AAC

Out of interest were you using Wifi tethering at the time too? Just trying to pin-point the problem so I can bring it up with Samsung and AKG

Excuse my lack of understanding, but by WiFi tethering do you refer to my galaxy watch connected to my phone via WiFi? Or just a general WiFi connection on the phone? Other than that I dont use any other WiFi options that i know of.

Sorry I mean using the phone as a WIFI hotspot. At work I have this enabled for my personal laptop to access the internet. I found the only time I have these cutouts is when that is active.

No not using it as a WiFi hotspot.

I have a similar issue. M4A files play fine via Bluetooth works fine sony (MDR-ZX770) headphones and yamaha soundbar. But when I try to play on ROIDMI 2S car bluetooth adapter or Bluedio TE earbuds, I get some random sounds. Tried the developer menu option mentioned but it didn't help.
Mine is the Note 10+ Exynos version with September update.

Bluetooth connectivity

I have a Pioneer deck in the truck and I can easily connect via bluetooth and play music, however, I cannot hear the calls in or out. My note will connect but again, no sound. I have reset the deck and even cleared the bluetooth cache/data to no avail. Anyone ever had this issue/resolved it?

I'm not sure if you have check this yet but bluetooth devices typically support a number of profiles dependant on what the device supports. Go into your phone bluetooth settings, verify that your bluetooth connection to your Pioneer deck is set to allow both call audio and media audio by tapping on the gear on the right for the Pioneer deck bluetooth config on your phone.
If not toggle the setting.

Bluetooth audio codec: does not stick

I keep on setting the audio bluetooth codec under dev optioons on "aptx" but after exiting the option goes back on "default".

Mine doesn't appear to stick either, but when I use my BT speaker I see an option in the connect dialog to use the Qualcomm aptX driver even though the codec is set to default (SBC). I don't see this aptX option when using my car or earbuds. I know this doesn't really help much, but I thought it was relative. I do know that the AVRCP setting does stick. Have you looked in the Google Issue Tracker? I'll go and star the issue if I can find it.
Edit: It is THERE listed as closed due to lack of data, feedback. Seems they ignored the obvious.... codec selection not sticking?
How do you tell if aptx is working while you're playing something to say a wireless speaker?

In BT settings I see a toggle for Qualcomm aptX and it's on... but in Dev Ops the BT codec still says Default: SBC. I think the audio codec setting there is busted, but the phone seems to use the best available codec. The device is a Creative (Soundblaster) Roar BT speaker. Now if I could only get the phone to auto connect to my car kit. Stays paired but will only manually connect which is a real pain.

Hmmm. My JBL Flip 4 is paired and it can use aptx but no option there. Weird.
My fm transmitter car kit will connect automatically, as long as it's set for media and phone calls.. Is yours just set for media only?

Yes, I've tried every combination there. It was working perfect with the N6P, and has never worked with the P2XL. Car kit is the absolute cheapest Chinese one you can find on Ebay... audio only, BT version 2.0 I think with no phone mic lol. Time to pony up and get a newer/better one. Had not considered FM transmitter because my car has the line in AUX. in my console so I can hide it.... It's about the size of a matchbox. This is a first world problem I know, but really annoying to me, and I know it's the phone because the Nexus was working for a year no problems. Thanks for your response.

We are both very frustrated here. Me cause I know I have an aptx capable device and am not getting to use it. You because you can't do a simple auto connect via bluetooth. Oy! Come on January update!
see my post here for a similar issue that I was able to workaround fairly easy
TLDR: You need root, edit your build.prop (using text editor, some app from the play store, etc) and change the following key: persist.vendor.bt.a2dp_offload_cap
by removing -aac from the string.
I'm sorry if it looks like I'm spamming I just encountered this issue on a lot of forums with no result and I do hope that this will help some

disable bluetooth a2dp hardware offload?

I have searched here and the Google, with no joy.
I was browsing DEVELOPER OPTIONS and ran across a setting, that I do not know if ON or OFF is best.
SETTINGS > DEVELOPER OPTIONS > NETWORKING > DISABLE BLUETOOTH A2DP HARDWARE OFFLOAD
I am unsure which was default and could not find the benefits of either selection.
Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

According to this article the default is off, but it does not say what the purpose of the toggle is.

Thanks! At least this confirms what I thought.
I think I inadvertently turned it on, while scrolling. I believe that's why I noticed it, in the first place, because the switch was blue and obvious.
Did you ever figure out what the purpose of the toggle is?
I looked at this a while ago https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78362981&postcount=10
Different manufacturers/Models of phones have it disabled or it resets when the phone starts. This could be to do with them implementing their own audio processor (DAC/Chip/etc) for processing the audio. It has no effect when changed according to anyone that's bothered to trying it.
Thanks for the update.
It will affect gapless playback on GPM (dont know about other services) with Bluetooth headphones ( dont know why)
enabling this feature helped me fix a low volume problem on a Bluedio T6 bluetooth headphones.
I want to know exactly what this is too. I only know that it makes music track transitions on GPM gappless. I found that suggestion on Reddit when I was trying to listen to Dark Side of the Moon and the damn gaps kept ruining my chill.

Yeah at the bottom of dev settings you can reset all to default.

This happened to me too. To fix this, in the developer settings menu, toggle Developer Options off then without leaving that screen, toggle it back on again. Scroll down and you should be able to toggle that setting off.

Bluetooth CRACKING/POPPING noises!

Hello everyone.
Since 2 months I know have this "strange" phenomenon that when I connect my Realme 6 Pro to my Bluetooth sound device of my choice, for the first few times connecting there are only popping/cracking noise sounds coming out. No music or anything relatable. After connecting around 5-10 times, it finally will play music (also it suddenly goes back to the cracking state when clicking around in youtube).
Bonus: most of the time (even if connected right and playing music) the microphone wont work in calls.
I cant fix this sh*t and it really bothers me a lot lately.
Hopefully someone can help, or else I´m going to throw this phone into the trash can... xD
Greetings.
My BT works fine for the most part, but sometimes it breaks up. I am really hoping it's just a software issue
Me too, for about 2 or 3 months now. Wasn't a problem before. Thinking I'll try factory reset soon, see if that fixes it.
Hey! I also have this problem and what i found is, if your Bluetooth audio support Aptx codec, it will enable option "Use High Quality Audio" in your audio bluetooth settings. Try to disable (it will use SBC Codec) and my problem disappear.
But, it really annoying. I already try my bluetooth audio with another phone and it worked fine with Aptx, so i know my bluetooth audio is not my problem. My workaround so far are disable high quality audio, then enable Aptx manually in developer options with AVCRP 1.6
Not sure if my device actually using SBC codec or Aptx after change it manually on developer options
Hi All! I solved problems with Bluetooth by switch off Dolby Atmos!

Question LDAC greyed out

I have a pair of Sony WF100 XM4's on want to use the LDAC setting on the phone. I go to Dev options, but it's greyed out. Is there anyway I can resolve this? I've seen another thread which isn't the 6 Pro that says you have to reset your wireless settings or something similar. Do I have to do this?
I have exactly the same pair of headphones and have been wondering the same some time ago.
LDAC works 100%

what does Sony say about the issue?
LDAC works on the 6 Pro (I have different headphones and BT DACs, as do many others) but not Sony's.
have you tried deleting the headphones from BT settings, resetting the Sony's and re-pairing?
If "HD Audio" doesn't show up in the Bluetooth Device Details for the Sony headphone (where you see Contacts, Phone Calls and Media Audio), then it won't show up in developer options.

I haven't contacted Sony about the issue yet, but will do some Googling to see if it's an issue with these earphones first before contacting them. I am not sure what your last paragraph means?

My LDAC headphones will work in 990 mode but only with the screen off, otherwise the sound skips. It works fine in 660 mode with the screen on. I've tried different fixes but nothing has worked. The only time LDAC is greyed out on my phone is when the headphones aren't on and connected.
I Googled it and found this:

So followed that and it shows that LDAC is on so why doesn't it show in Dev options?

So you installed the app? On my headphones, not Sony, I needed their app to get LDAC to show....
I had the app previously because I had the XM3's. Its not obvious in the app until you see the instructions I posted. It's still greyed out in Dev options which I don't get.
You maybe need to enable quality mode in Sony headphones app. My xm3 working good. But only in adaptive ldac settings
I had Quality mode enabled even before and it was still grayed out. Went to Stable mode and back to Quality mode and its still grayed out.

So LDAC will show up in the bluetooth information for the device, for example: HD Audio: LDAC, but only if LDAC is enabled on the device through an app or natively (but its usually an app)
It looks like I got it working, but only in 660kbps mode. Go 990 and it skips all over the show. Also, every time I connect the headphones I have to change the setting to 660 in Dev options. Isn't there an option to save it to this setting for my Sony's because I can't seem to see it!
How or what did you do to make it work at least in 660 kbps ?

My P6P always defaulted to ”best effort”. Then I installed the Sony apps on my phone and selected high quality. Even though I don't have Sony earbuds, when I connect my LDAC earbuds it defaults to 990. This would be fine if 990 actually worked...
Is there any way to get it to default to 660?

I haven't found a way to do that. It would be nice if the update that's coming out in a few hours would fix the LDAC 990 problem but I'm not holding my breath.

OH MY F* GOD. Disabling "Connect to 2 devices simultaneously" enabled LDAC. That's so dumb and someone should have said about that.
You can disable it in Sony Headphones app under System tab.

It's still broken, unfortunately. 990kbps has constant disconnects. Sort of defeats the purpose of the nigh bitrate codec. I wonder why google has such poor development with each of these updates.
