INSTRUCTIONS FOR INTEL MAC & LINUX:
Note: Mac and Linux users may be prompted to enter administrative password, as adb server requires sudo permissions to start.
No drivers required.
Extract the zip file.
Put the run.sh inside the directory you just extracted.
Open Terminal. Use the cd command to get to the directory. If you extracted inside the Downloads folder, it would be easy in Terminal as so:
Code:
cd ~/Downloads/epic.aio.v2.01
Now give permissions and run it:
Code:
chmod +x run.sh
./run.sh
THANKS TO FIRON FOR CODE MAKING THE SAME SCRIPT BOTH INTEL MAC AND LINUX COMPATIBLE.

awsome.. thanx, now just need some good detailed way of enable my tab to make phone calls and i'll be having myself a great holidays .. again thanx lots
Wow, thanks! Downloading now and gonna install immediately!
If it works (and I believe it will), then I can only say thanks A LOT to you, Deodex and drockster for this.

Sweet, grabbing now.
Sent from my GT-P1000M using XDA App
It works, but its pretty rough. The screen flickers, and sometimes the navigation is kinda iffy. But backup/restore works and you can flash .zips.. and that's whats important. This should get polished in the next week or so
How did you guys get it to work? Whenever I run that run.bat, it gives me a massive list of "ping is not a recongized command" and "Tab is not a recognized command" and finally ends up doing nothing
I moved the extracted directory to the root of my drive, and it actually made a bit of a difference, as the batch file went a bit further. But still, it ended up doing nothing...
Any ideas?

This is something that Noobnl has put together with using his other script. As far as getting recovery fully functional and not having the screen flicker and others issues, I will continue working on that.

YES Thanks to all that helped!! This would have saved me a couple days ago. Good to know that its available now.
It does flicker when you scroll the options, but at least it works!
I'll try again:

If you don't know how to run a batch file in Windows, then you might want to consider switching to a Mac
Noobnl has packaged this into a one-click method... you just extract the folder into your /android-sdk-windows/tools folder and double click run.bat while your phone is connected to USB with USB debugging enabled.
If you still can't figure it out, then you should just give up pal

Can some post a clean nandroid backup?
Thank you for your efforts!
I am a noob in flashing or compiling custom roms though (locked bootloader on my only other android device, the Motorola Milestone).
I have read that this allows us to inject a nandroid backup into the rom, but would like to know more. What are the benefits of this recovery? What can it be used for? Can i for example flash a stock android build onto my Tab?
Thanks in advance for some helpful, non flamer answers...
Hello guys,
first of all a big thank you to anghelyi for explaining this to me very patiently and for uploading the files!!
Of course the credit also goes to Oleg_k, rebellos,mijoma,srg.mstr,nbates66,adfree, etc. (sorry if i haven't mentioned anyone)
As adfree said, it would be nice to have a tutorial on how to install the current state of the android on the wave , so DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK
It is better only for people who have experience in flashing and using multiloader..
Read this tutorial carefully and please read the entire thing! then you will have something like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlW7g21PprQ&feature=player_embedded (credits for video - anghelyi)
THIS IS NOT THE STABLE WORKING VERSION, IT IS THE CURRENT STATE
PLEASE FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, DONT DO THIS IF YOU DONT KNOW TO FLASH PROPERLY, YOU WILL I REPEAT YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE
The procedure:
*Works on s8500XXJL2 firmware. So flash to that firmware first.
XXJL2 Firmware - http://www.multiupload.com/WMGXTWKQH2 (thanks vivekforbes for link)
if pass asked - samfirmware.com (it should be)
Stuff needed
Ubuntu (if you can find a alternate to format to ext2 you are welcome to use it)
Multiloader(google it)
Download Kernel and Filesystem : (you will get an zImage from this file, DELETE it)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CI0QUBLY
The new zImage: (credit - anghelyi)
dowload either from :
http://badadroid.googlecode.com/files/zImage.anghelyi
and rename the file to just zImage without the .anghelyi
If lazy to rename just download from here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?xl5aikl5e8r7hv4
Updated FOTA (boot without USB cable
http://badadroid.googlecode.com/files/kernel_boot.fota
Sbl.bin
http://badadroid.googlecode.com/files/sbl.bin
XXJEE bootloader
http://badadroid.googlecode.com/files/S8500XXJEE_BL.zip
Work Begins :
1) Extract the files after download
2) Create folder "galaxyboot" (without quotes) in Wave internal memory and put the sbl.bin and the zImage to this folder.
3)Ok, now get into ubuntu and do the following :
Make two partitons using gparted on ubuntu , one fat32 and other ext2
You have to copy those files while being a root user in ubuntu. For this :
Open a terminal
Type "sudo su" without quotes in terminal
Enter new password
Then click the power button on top right
Login with username as root and password as the pass u entered
Open terminal
Type "sudo file-roller" it will open the archive manager.
Use archive manager to extract files from badadroid.tgz -> filesystem.tgz -> You need to extract 5 folders(system,lfs,dbdata,data,cache..select these 5) to ext2 drive directly.
Copy the new zimage and sbl.bin to galaxyboot folder(create it if it doesnt exist) in wave internal memory
In terminal type "sudo nautilus"
A window will open
Go to ext2 partition system/media/audio and rename "ui" folder to "uibackup"
Open Terminal
Now in terminal type "sudo sync"
Unmount the partitions before unplugging the phone (this step helped milli133 )
RISK RISK RISK RISK
4) Replace the bootloader to XXJEE one
5) Replace the FOTA with the one you have downloaded
TIP - to those who dont know the above two steps : (thanks vivekforbes)
=> Open multiloader and select LSI and select FULL DOWNLOAD
=> Select boot(use xxjee boot files) and FOTA ( precompiled one in above download)
=> click download to flash..
RISK OVER
6) Switch phone on normally to see if Bada is loading
7) Turn off phone, Press and hold call button + power button
8) Thats it! Android is on your phone
Oh disable swype in the settings menu else your keyboard wont work!
DONT DELETE ANY APK FILES, ANDROID WILL WORK FINE WITHOUT DELETING THEM
Enjoy

Why in hell would you even want to get an unstable version of Android on your Wave?
Seriously, this thread should be deleted. Is it just so people can say, "look at me, I have Android on my Wave"??
Just wait until the guys have a stable and working version, instead of harassing them all the time in the other thread.

You can't delete a thread. Only mods can. But even though there's a risk of bricking your phone, people have a choice to do this and this could grow into a wonderful development. So this thread should continue and see what other developers can put into this to make it a stable build.
Altough people can blow up their houses, there exists detailed instructions how to make highly explosive materials.
You've made good howto with alot of warnings, I don't think you can and should feel responsible for any bricked handset.

Here is an interesting article that will help you if you want CRT screen Off animation like in Nexus S:

Probably no. Most likely you will end up with phone freezing on the Samsung logo at boot. framework-res.apk files are not interchangeable between models, maybe not even between firmware versions for the same phone.
Can you post a step by step guide then? I can't really understand anything here
The step-by-step instructions from the link in the first post are pretty much what i did. Read the comment by ravenstark - if you mount the filesystem with root explorer there will be no need to execute the commands in red in section 8.
The instructions from the link in your post cover steps 3-7. You still have to download the file to your PC (1), decompile it (2) and upload it back to the phone once you are done with it (8).
For the first step which terminal do you use??
(Free Your Android guide)
adb. If you don't have you can download it from here. It is part of the SDK and probably the most essential tool.
The command is exactly as written there

What do you mean? If you're using a Windows PC, then just open up a cmd prompt. You should read the guides at the beginning of that page so you know how to setup adb and the apk tool.
The big picture is this. Connect your pc to computer, pull file from phone to PC using adb, modify file on PC, push file back to phone using adb.
For what it's worth, here's a thread I wrote quite a long time ago, some is not applicable for the Glide, but most of it still applies. If you're going to be mucking around in your phone it's best to know how to do a few things first. Read Before Flashing.
When I try and open SDK or AVD (what's the difference :| ) then I just get a quick terminal screen that closes.
It would be appreciated if someone could just create a flashable CWM version >_<

Ok, so what have you done so far?
What should be done. Assuming you're using Windows, install the Android SDK. Once installed, launch the SDK Manager. Then from the list of installable options, choose the Platform Tools and I always like to get the drivers. Once done, you will have this path, CrogramFiles(x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools, now you could add this path to your variables in Windows, which would be easiest, or copy the Platform-tools folder to C:. Then plug in your phone via USB to your computer.
Now, if you added the Path to your variables, just go Start>Run>cmd, and at the cmd prompt type adb devices. If you see a device you're good.
If you copied the Platform-tools folder over, then Start>Run>cmd, and in the cmd prompt type,
C:
then
cd platform-tools
then
adb devices
Beyond that, can't really help, never use apk tool. Good luck.

Will this apply over OsiMood? I really am not sure if I am using the Rogers, but apparently I am because in XDA App it says I927-R and same with a benchmark.

Well, without a pc you have less options, users of miui are on nougat (beta) but in your case must be sure of these things; download (easier) an app from playstore about developer options, open and check at USB debugging, allow, now download a global version from official Miui page for Hydrogen (device name) must be in .zip format and try going to /settings/about device/system update you`ll see four dots upper right and option "select update package", navigate to your downloaded file and try to flash
Thanks. So I downloaded it, went to updater and chose the file, and it says couldn't verify update package.

If from this option doesn`t flash your zip either do from mi recovery. Version for China probably is from a phone company if you live there. You need a pc at least to install TWRP (it takes two minutes) and from here you must install last version official beta v8 7.1.19 but you need unlock bootloader
So this is not possible to do with a MAC? what about the terminal commands, can I install a rom from the CLI ?

I know this isn't the quickest workaround, but if you're stuck on a Mac you can always bootcamp it for free. Just download Windows 10 (around a 5GB download I think) and install via bootcamp. You don't need a serial to officially install or run WIndows 10 and you can just remove the installation when you're finished.

You can use other advance phone (cause this will be busy) like a viewfinder of .img in your computer, with an app from Play Store called DriveDroid, you place some .img in your sdcard and to arrange computer select usb (it`s like a virtual machine) or burn an image in a usb with a linux distro, here is a rescue cd that contain a virtual Windows XP called Hiren`s Boot (500 mb aprox.) but really I don`t know if all that works on a mac.
First read that post, it seems is possible use fastboot on a mac according that: http://htc-one.gadgethacks.com/how-...-mac-os-x-send-commands-your-htc-one-0151178/

What did you type in fastboot?, zip version is not for fastboot, must be download correct version, but go for the first step, probably you must
unlock bootloader, request to xiaomi, sometimes you got it in 6 hours, depends, probably device is rooted, for this reason don't update ota. Here you have other thread to apply fastboot with other method https://forum.xda-developers.com/an.../live-iso-adb-fastboot-driver-issues-t3526755
tried both the flash all except storage.sh and the flashboot flash system commands. it said device it locked. I applied to unlock bootloader, no reply yet, but does that also require a Windows program to unlock the bootloader?
Device is not rooted, but I installed google play, maybe that's what broke the OTA

No, Google Play can't do that. In my little corner of the world we say "all the roads lead to Rome", I think you need a pc, There is other shorter way of two steps root first with a pc and then download from Google Play an app called "flashfire" you may flash a zip rom from this app. Also you may use a virtual cd or usb with a linux distro like ubuntu or debian running on your mac to arrange computer like a live cd or usb without install on your mac or if you prefer install it on your mac, there's a world of options just root device and can flash any you want and be the real owner of your phone
On page https://wiki.lineageos.org/adb_fastboot_guide.html whatever is written under Linux is beyond my understanding. I am using Ubuntu 14.04 and want to root my A7 (2017) with that OS. I have extracted the .zip file namely platform-tools_r30.0.1-linux.zip which doesn't match with the article's 2nd point under Linux, that is Extract it somewhere - for example, ~/adb-fastboot. I do not extracted any folder with name 'adb-fastboot' however I got a folder namely 'platform-tools'.
Now coming to the 3rd point what they mean by Add the following to ~/.profile: which is followed by some commands. Do I need to open some text file namely ".profile" or something and add those commands to it??
And 5th point says You may also need to set up udev rules: see this repository for more info.. So how do I know if I need to set up udev rules? And what are udeve rules in the first place?
I am supposing to root my phone step by step. But it seems very hard. I can't get hold of a Windows PC which seems easy compared to Linux. Also I am not following any guide on XDA Developers because my phone is supported by official Lineage OS website and I am following their instructions.
Hi,
Adb fastboot guide isn't necessary for root on LineageOS. You can find the root addon here https://download.lineageos.org/extras. You'll want to download 16.0 arm64 one.
Just enter your recovery (TWRP) and flash the root addon. Later you can enable it in developer options.
Some users flash magisk (search xda for it) so you can try that too.

Using ADB isnt the "normal" way to root a samsung device.
The preferred method is installing a custom recovery (like TWRP, SHRP or Orangefox) and then simply install magisk in the recovery.
I dont know if its even possible to root through ADB to be honest.
Also, even if your phone is supported by Lineage, that doesnt mean every guide on their website fits perfectly to your device.

Then can you please please tell me how can I root my A7 (2017) with baseband version A720FXXU9CTA2? I also prefer TWRP over any other method because I have used it before but it was near a decade ago and now I have forgotten so much things. It's best if I am given a way to root on Linux (my work computer) otherwise I have to wait or purchase a Windows PC.
(PS: Every forum made for a specific phone on XDA should have an official thread with step by step rooting instructions.)

If you want to install lineage anyway, you dont need to care about the RMM and no-verity things.
For rooting, you can simply search for a guide on how to install magisk on google, there are more than enough.
