After Unlock Bootloader Which Supersu and TWRP I Must Select for HTC M8 Marshmallow?

Hi friends.
I want to root my HTC M8 Marshmallow (Sense 7- International)
I will not flash custom ROM.
For rooting which versions of SuperSU and TWRP must I select after unlock bootloader ?
Or after unlock bootloader what must I do for rooting?
Please help me.

TWRP 3.0.2.0 and supersu flashable zip 2.56 or higher.

Unlock your bootloader, boot to Fastboot, FLASH twrp followed by supersu, done, reboot.

Yes it will root your phone
just download the latest version of supersu and install/flash through twrp, when you reboot, open supersu up in app drawer and updater binary in normal way, no need to flash anything else.

mm-su-boot.zip = modified boot.img, only needed if you were using an old SuperSU version (not needed since you are using SuperSU 2.65, it will replace the boot.img automatically)
mm-wp-mod.zip = system write protection mod, need to flash this if you want to modify system partition (delete bloatware, add system apps, and I think xposed needs to modify system)
mm-s2s-mod.zip = Swipe 2 Sleep mod, flash if you want this mod
But it explains most of the above in the root thread, where I'm assuming you got those files from?

You can use KingRoot (one click rooting app), works better.. for Vibe P1m

1. Install app (keep internet on)
2. Check root> root not found
3. Select root now.
4. Mobile will restart few times.
5. After rooting completed check root status.
6. Done.
7. For unrooting, go-to app's setting
8. Uninstall root, mobile will restart.
9. App will be removed, device unrooted.
10. Done.
Use apk file for rooting, don't try computer app it will install custom recovery.
If you want proper root with custom recovery and ROM, then do tell me..
but only for rooting use KingRoot (simple steps).

i wat with root in LP but before i update to MM i did unroot from SU and now i without root.
how do i root my zenfone again?

Yes, you can. You can use tethered TWRP method to root the phone without unlocking the bootloader.
Since you are using TWRP in tethered mode, you do not need to install the TWRP as such you DO NOT need to unlock the bootloader and you still have your stock recovery.
This guide tells you how to root, install xposed and downgrade. Just read the root part and unroot part.
I do not use the twrp mention in that post. Download the latest twrp here.
I did use the BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328-patch-by-shakalaca-for-zenfone2-6.0.zip mentioned in that post.
The guide mentioned that your bootloader need to be unlocked, however you are using twrp in tethered mode so unlocking the bootloader is unnecessary.
I hope you know how to use the adb.

i have to ask you something.
like a stupid i try to sideload twrp and now i got without any recovery beacuse i cant enter there..
how i back to stock recovery? i download 3 files for 2.20.40.174 (now im on MM) and i forgot how i sideload this for it work.
can you tell me pls? and after it, i just need to get my phone into bootloader and sideload the super su file? what i need to write for sideload it? really thank for help

You can not sideload TWRP. TWRP has to be flashed into recovery partition. Since bootloader is locked, your sideloading TWPR could not be successful as such you still have your stock recovery.
Try to get into recovery.
You might be stuck in the dead robot with red triangle. In that case press and hold the power button, and press and release the volume up button quickly. Try several time until you got into recovery.
If your phone is not booting at all and could not detect from the adb, you might need to flash the .raw file via asus flash tool.
Once your phone is back to normal, follow the guide I mentioned in the previous post to root the phone. You can flash supersu zip in the TWRP install tab.
You can press thank button if my post is helping you.

oh ok! my bad, i do have a stock recovery lol.
so i just need now to move the supersu zip to sd card and from the stock recovery install it?

You can not install the supersu from the stock recovery. Rooting the phone requires to modify the boot.img. From Stock recovery it is not allowed.. As such you need custom recovery like TWRP.
copy the supersu that I mentioned in the previous post to the sd card.
Follow the instructions from the root section of the the guide that I mentioned in the previous post.
That guide tells you to run TWRP in tethered mode.
The command fastboot boot <twrp.img> will move the twrp.img to your phone and let your phone boot into twrp .
Once you are in the twrp, tab the install from zip tab and select the supersu zip file you move to the sd card. If you do not know how to use twrp there are a lot of videos on youtube about twrp.

I am glad that work out for you.
At the end of supersu installation you might see the message saying that you would get that verification error message and tell you to ignore that. I did see that message twice and after that I do not see that message anymore every time I reboot the phone.
I can not help you on the xposed though because I did not install the xposed. I just rooted my phone. If you want you could follow that guide. Load the twrp in the tethered mode and install the xposed from the twrp.

Sorry for rising this 1yo thread.
It seems the tethered TWRP couldn't be successfully flashed on both LP (latest releases) either MM (any release) unless the bootloader is locked. The boot command doesn't give errors, but the phone won't reboot and stay in fastboot/bootloader mode.
Could you confirm that's working on MM, nowadays ?

Verizon Note 4 on 6.0.1 Help Rooting

Hey so i have done my job and spent the past week figuring out how to do this. Unfortunately i am on 6.0.1 and every time i flash TWRP 2.8.7.0 VSW with odin my phone blocks it and says SECURE CHECK FAIL (RECOVERY). yes my reactivation lock is off and nothing is encoded. as of right now my phone is working but i would really like to get it rooted soon and any help is appreciated.

You need to be rooted before you flash TWRP. Have you already gone through the steps to root your phone?

No I am not rooted every guide I find says you need to flash a custom recovery then install the root from that recovery?

Hi i have Samsung note 4(SM-N910F). When i check root status with( phono info apk) it says root existence (/system/xbin/su) and check with Root checker apk it shows congratulations you are rooted. but super su apk not working after download this apk when i update binary it takes too long time and some times mobile restart itself. Total problem is super su apk not working Now what should i do? Please help me

You may be confusing flashing supersu in a custom recovery, with rooting your phone. There are a number of steps you have to go through before you can gain root on the Verizon Note 4. Flashing a custom recovery will not root your phone. You have to first follow the steps here, before you can flash a custom recovery, then flash supersu, in order to gain access to your root.

Try flashing the supersu zip in your custom recovery, instead of installing it through the app store. You also have an N910F, this thread is for N910V. You'd probably get a more accurate response if you posted to the N910F thread.

Manually flash SuperSU 2.79 (or later) if you are prior to 7.0.1 at this point systemless root becomes necessary .....and I don't know man . I have it working on 7.1.1 but it came loaded I didn't have to install ....hmmmm I'd start at chain fires web site see what he says . ignore anything involving cfauto root unless u achieved root by this means in which case u r in the wrong forum

When you flash supersu it does install app and binary :laugh: see if u got to the point u could flash from twrp it would signify you are on unlocked boot loader. Without unlocking root will only persist til reboot then process would need to be repeated. The only way to fix this is to be able to mod the boot IMG which requires developer mode to be enabled . this is notable by the presence of an unlocked lock on the first splash screen (secondary program loader splash)

You can stay on OOS, but you'll still have to unlock your bootloader and root your phone with magisk. You'll need a PC. There is probably a step by step guide in the general section.

Use the link that jckjr put, lays out the steps fairly straightforward.
Here's a TLDR-
1. Install ADB on your computer
2. Unlock bootloader from within dev options on the phone
3. Reboot into bootloader (easier if you enable the advanced reboot)
4. open a command prompt window within the folder of your ADB installation. also put your TWRP and magisk files in that folder to make it easier
5. unlock bootloader by typing in 'fasboot oem unlock' and confirm on the phone <-- THIS WILL WIPE PHONE ENTIRELY
6. flash twrp by doing 'fastboot flash recovery (recovery.img)' where (recovery.img) is the recovery's filename. easily fill it in by pressing tab once you get to it in the line
7. reboot into recovery from the bootloader screen (change options by doing volume up/down and power to select recovery)
8. allow modification within twrp, flash the newest magisk .zip
9. in ur OS, install the lib fix magisk module
10. install gcam and made sure it works.
