I dont know if its just me or anyone else experience it too. For some games no katter what i play for a while and it heats a bit and game slows down and its like impossible to play a game smooth without sitting in fron of an airconditioner. I cant play while charging too for same reason. Does anyone else experience this? Most of my games fps drops within 5 mins due to heating issue.. i have used old phones without this throttling thing. Is there any way to fix it?
I can play PUBG for 2 hours straight without any throttling. Screen does get a bit warm but that's normal.
Does this happen with all games or a specific one? If your device is under warranty I strongly recommend you get a replacement.

On what settings do you play? For all games mostly i get fps of 59 for a while but after 15 mins it will drop to 42 to 46 telling me that its heating up. If i place it in a cooler place fps is back to 59

I started to play kritika and real racing 3. My new G3 gets to 104 degree F when i play kritika for 10 min, but the temp is only between 90- 95 , when not playing any game. i had the phone for 3 days. never had the dim down or auto switch off issues, only this heat. is it normal?? mine is LG G3 D851.
It's normal :good:
coincidentally, the battery inside the G3 says to not let it get hotter than 104F
The game can utilize CPU to the maximum so the unit can get very hot.
Nice, considering the ambient temperature here can reach 120 degrees on a daily basis...
Sent from my LG G3
Today it reached 106 in 7min when playing kritika(heavy graphical game), heats up slowly when playing clash of clan.
Do you think I should replace my device with my carrier?
YES
O yes...playing games with heavy graphics or watch movies for a long period can heat it up pretty quick ...I personally take the case off when playing to help it stay a little cooler, and if i am home i take the back of as well, since i have heard cases of damage from over heating. :good:
I was typing the Battery temp as 104 and 106. cpu is at 120 - 150F

It's the same with every phone I used for the last 2 years. Plastic, glass or metal, the phone still gets hot.

if I buy a case and use it. would it cause more heat to be contained? or would it release more heat out? planning to buy a rubber case

what is the max temp you got when gaming on your G3?
LG G3 D855 32gb
Please suggest me the ROM and KERNEL and MODS.
I play Clash Of Clans and need good camera.
My phone is getting hot within 5 mins of browsing,
If I'm playing games , its temp goes to 74 C instantly..
I'm not able to talk for more time bcoz of heat..
I'm getting around 2.5 - 3.5 hrs SOT.. 5 months old phone.. Battery is not bulged.. So I don't think battery problem..
Using Greenify, Rooted.
ROM tried :
1. Resurrection Remix.
Phone getting hot (MAX hot 74 C) within 5mins of browing.
Clash of Clans lags.
2. Euphoria :
Its not getting tat hot compared to RR ROM.
But Clash of Clans lags.
When I connect F&D 2.1 Speaker through 3.5mm jack, my phone doesn't detect the speaker. It detects Earphones with no issues.
3. CloudyG3 2.4,2.5:
ROM is smooth, but getting hot instantly when I start gaming.
Getting only 2.5hrs SOT if I play Clash of Clans.
4. Stock Lollipop:
I feel the heater here. :silly:
5. Stock Kitkat:
Heat is bearable, but its not stable, laggy.
Please suggest me the ROM and KERNEL and MODS which will not make that hot.
I play Clash Of Clans and need good camera.
Please suggest me.. Im depressed
But... 3.5hours SOT is normal for some if you use 90-100% brightness... Clash of Clans 2.5hr SOT time is okay, as it is demanding online game.
Thermal mod will only break your phone, as the throttling is there for a reason (heat, duh)
I do not see the problem.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm using mostly in 35% brightness.
My problem is its getting hot withing 5 minutes of browsing and within 5 mins of call.
I'm not able to play Clash of clans at all, Once I start playing it, I'm feeling like i'm doing CAMP FIRE.
I heard changing governor in kernel Auditur and some thermal settings will solve the heat issue.
And whether changing the Screen resolution is suggestible?
Thanks

Demanding games make your phone warm. 2G and 3G calling doesn't cause heat.
4G high usage can make this phone hot. Only way to not get your phone warm is by underclocking it, but then games will lag even more. Screen resolution changing may pump the performance, but I don't know how much heat it causes.
This phone has never felt as hot as HTC One, which emit the heat through whole phone due its all metal casing.
I'd advice you to not touch thermal throttling.

I don't have a g3 but I have had issues with the phone getting hot in the past. I suggest trying different kernels to see if it resolves the issue. I currently use an S5 and use Ktoonz Kernel. He has an app called Ktweaker. In this app you are able to change your kernels profiles and scripts. Anytime I experience heat waves I change the profile to fix it. Use a different kernel and see what happens.

I tried Gabriel kernel with some profiles. It makes my phone laggy and still hot.

after flashing the ROM,
even before I complete the setup (1st boot after flashing new ROM), my phone temp goes to 74 C. Is it normal?
My phone getting hot even without playing games, not all the time though.
Thanks I ll try underclocking.
try cm12.1 with 777jon r10 kernel, -40 uv (you can try -50 or more if you want) and the thermal files from stock "/system/etc/thermal-engine-8974.conf" (that's the most important)
My phone is running 50 or 60 celsius and all I'm doing is downloading apps to set up the device. Is this normal?
It runs around 40 celsius on idle when doing nothing
No, how did you measure that?

LOTS of apps available in the play store do that. Accubattery, for one.
Things are now better and I believe thst the heat is a software issue. My phone now runs around 30 when idling at no use and gets to around 40 when downloading apps. CPU is around 50s when watching videos, but battery stays in the 40s. The reason why I believe this to be a software issue is because my temperatures when playing games, doing benchmarks, etc are similar to when I watch videos, which is a much higher workload. I also don't experience too much throttling as I was still able to get approx. 267 000 in Antutu.

You should anticipate that heavy graphics (gaming, movie watching), etc. is going to raise the temperature. That's perfectly normal.

Yeah, but watching a Youtube vifeo raises it just as much as playing PUBG Mobile on HDR settings or running an Antutu Benchmark. My overall temperatures keep improving, though. Might have been an issue with the data transfer feature.
To update, everything works fine now. It seems I just had a rough start.
Just trying to play Donkey Kong Country Returns on the Snapdragon 860 Xiaomi Pad and I notice fps drops on 1x and 4x. Try every setting, nothing changes. Even Gpu usage is only half.
Then I enabled fps counter and whenever it hits 30 C max it throttles to super low fps and doesn't go any bit higher. Explains the stutters I had in other Games.
30 C is nothing, feels like a scam, it runs like a low-end device.
Is there any fix? Any tutorial that works? With root or so? Just 35 C would be enough, It’s just 10 C here too. If not don’t buy Xiaomi for games, it’s not playable at all! It’s like a bad joke.
Over here the same problem and stuttering in fixed 60hz emulators

Sucks man, surprised no ones talking about this. The device is easily strong enough for 3DS and even some Switch games, but with this maybe it can't even do some older emulators smoothly, will do some more testing.
So here is the Video:
Flickering is due to the video recording only, but you can still see that it runs fine until the temp hits 30c, then it becomes very slow. You can see the graphic turn orange.
hopefully a developer can port a kernel of the xiaomi x3 pro that they share the same soc and all these problems can be solved, since I bought it for emulation and it does not work smooth as silk
I hope so! But I found a fix for this problem at least, you have to use Citra, not Citra MMJ, there seems to be a problem with that version. In normal Citra it runs at 60 fps at over 35 C but it still has some frame drops from time to time.

I have Poco X3 Pro... it does have thermal throttling also... but I managed to get rid of throttling by flashing a HAVOC OS custom rom...
MIUI is known for throttling SOCs...
I have the same problem when playing Hearthstone. Anyway to turn off thermal throttling completely ?
So I have found an odd and repeatable glitch that is a good glitch but I can't explain it. I play one primary game from the dragon quest series on my fold 4. The system app game tracker says I get on average 35 to 40 fps which is fine but one day I saw the game running super smooth and felt way faster. Sure enough it was running at 70fps the entire time. Cpu usage was up and gpu usage went from about 15% before to about 35%. No big deal for how beautiful the game looked and played. A few months went by and I never could repeat how I did this. Then this week I did it again and experimented to try to repeat. My game had to be in the foreground and I turned off the screen. You have to have the side button fingerprint reader set to read fingerprint without pushing the button. Once I did this and instantly turned on the screen and went to game then boom 70 fps speed and glory. The only downside is massive battery drain and if you do anything and I mean anything else but play the game it reverts back to 35 to 40 fps. You pull down the notification tray the fps drop. You have to stay in game don't adjust volume don't adjust brightness. If the frame rate drops from an incoming call then repeat screen off and finger print used again. So here come my questions... The device can clearly handle this 70 fps and I played 2 hours once without it getting too warm... I think I saw 105 degrees at most. I am guessing the fingerprint to unlock with screen off is happening so fast it doesn't give time for Samsungs system files to limit fps... Why do they do this crap? Why can't I choose max power or battery savings. Can anyone replicate what I see? Is there something else I can do to keep my 70 fps and still use my phone for other stuff? I want absolute max performance but not thru a weird glitch. I hope to hear from others.
I'm subscribing to this as I am curious also
