I read from someone to stay away from the chinese version. Strange.
But what about lte? Will I still be able to get lte with tmobile?
Either model will work. The EVR-L29 will be better suited for USA due to having less Chinese apps. But both phones work on T-mobile and both phones have the exact same bands.

The Mate 20x supports Lte for T-Mobile USA LTE Bands:2,4,5,12
Lte Bands 66 and 71 are not supported.
Whether that is relevant I can not say.
Here's an example
I have a Honor Note 10 with LTE Bands 1,3,7,8 ,my provider has the bands 1,3,7,20.
Band 20 is missing but not bad for me,Band 20 is used for rural areas since I live in the city it does not matter to me.
As it looks at T-Mobile for the two bands 66 and 71, I do not know
I hope this helps

Yup fits in pocket just fine. But I'm a male, my pockets are usually very big; if you're a female, pockets might be smaller. Only time I see it not fitting are my jeans pocket. But back pocket still fits it. Also it was very fast for me to get used to 7.2 inch size. (I'm coming from 6.4 inch Xiaomi Mi 9 for context)
Issues, I've only noticed one. It seems to only cause problems playing pubg. The WiFi seems to disconnect every now and then and reconnect like 5 seconds later. This causes like a 10 second period where u can't control your character in pubg. But in literally anything else I do, this has no effect. This doesn't happen if I use mobile data

Hey fp,
Appreciate the response. Regarding the wifi, does it cut in and out when youre browsing the net? And is this a common issue others are having with the mate 20x?
As to fitting in pockets, I think the best thing to do is to cut a cardboard in the same size as the phone. Then see how it fits my pants.
Looking forward to your response.

The WiFi problem, it seems to have been fixed by an update. I haven't had any WiFi issues since 310 update.
When I had it, it'd seem to only affect PUBG because you need continuous internet connection to play it. Browsing and YouTube usually aren't affected even if it disconnected.

Check Settings - Mobile Network settings - Preferred Network Type and set it to LTE if you have this option and is not already set.
But I doubt that this is your problem. You bought the Taiwanese phone, didn't you? While OnePlus supports all ATT LTE bands (17, 4, 2), the Taiwanese Zenfone 2 doesn't support band 17 (nor ww model), which is otherwise typical for less inhabited aeries in the USA, but it seems that is widely used by ATT. Try the phone in the downtown or another city and you'll probably catch the LTE on other frequencies.
Yes I purchased it from Taiwan but all of the sites show so many bands for this phone. Asus does a terrible job with their model numbers. There are so many different versions with the same model number. There is a 4 g setting not lte and that is selected. I did pick up 4g while driving through part of the city.
Is there going to be a US model?
Thank you
Yes. There is a US model and its supposed to be released in the next month or so. The link below, click on specs, shows the LTE bands for each region. Clearly shows the Taiwanese model not having the 17 band.
http://www.asus.com/Phones/ZenFone_2_ZE551ML
That stinks. I took that page as it will work in all of these markets. Oh well
Thanks

The topic is about bands not frequencies. There is nothing such as 1700 LTE band. Actually both USA and TW phones work on approximate LTE 700 MHz but bands are different because uplink and downlink are different. So TW model works on band 28 and US one on 17.

I see now. Tnx for the quick response. Hopefully I'm not outta luck when the phone arrives tomorrow from TW. Do you think that flashing later on a radio or baseband will solve this issue?
It's not that simple. Luckily Intel chip supports all LTE bands. But they must be activated in kernel too. Maybe someone will find the method to activate the missed ones. Otherwise you are not so bad. With TW phone you are short of only one LTE band of four major in the USA, Europeans missed 2 of 3.

Frequency wise is matches everything AT&T needs, i just picked up my 4g/64gb TW model, i'll be playing with apn's to see if i can get lte to pop. Only getting H+ so far.
Correction, shipped with WW firmware, no 700mhz for us.
More - As posted above, this Taiwanese version is missing the LTE band 17. And there are some areas that this may be the only band available, so you will not have LTE in those situations.
Thanks so much.... I was having a heck of time here with my Zenfone 2 in Tucson AZ on T-mobile.... I was stuck on 2G... but updating the APN to fast.t-mobile.com and 2 reboots seems to have done the trick. So glad I don't have to EBAY this! THANKS AGAIN.... Loving this thing so far!

Does the official global rom come with Google Play installed, or does it still need to be added?
Also, can you download and play movies from Google Play, or use the download feature on Netflix? Neither of those work on my Mi4C.
This is the only thing holding me back from ordering a Mi6. Really hoping that stuff works, since the Mi6 is not China-only like the Mi4C.

I believe EE doesn't use band 20, so it's golden.
I come from a Moto X 2014. I'm on three and I've had LTE coverage everywhere I went. Mind you, I'm in London and if I venture into the country I might not get LTE there, as band 20 is also used by three, possibly in less populated areas.

I don't think the Mate phone (or any honor 7x version) have the hardware capabilities for band 66 or 71. If the phone was exclusively for T-Mobile, I bet Huawei probably equipped at least their flagships with them. Below you can see all the supported bands from all the Honor 7x versions.
https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_honor_7x-8880.php#l24
For me, even if the phone had either band 66 or 71 dunno if T-Mobile have deployed these frequencies where I live. I either get band 4 or 12 and is incredible fast (100 Mbps download).
ugh i totally want to know how to unlock all those bands
This phone becomes useless when you travel to Europe especially with LTE as major bands used in Europe aren't supported on US models.

Dear friend
If you reside in a particular location and the nearby tower is having many bands of same operator. Our mobile phone latches to a particular band or a combination of band called carrier Aggregation or LTEA depending on the configuration of cell site. You can try any combination which gives best speeds at your place and also coverage.
