Verizon XT1710-01 cannot connect to LTE band 17 - Moto Z2 Play Questions & Answers

I am moving my phone plan to ATT. I found the Verizon Z2 Play, model XT1710-01, cannot connect to ATT Band 17, which has best signal in my area. It always stays on Band 2 with merely 1 bar. When I tried the same SIM card on different phone, I can get full bars on Band 17 no problem.
Maybe I should flash different firmware? Any suggestion?
Thanks!

[Q] sm-t807t how to detect whether it is on LTE band 12

I just got my sm-t807t and have a t-mobile usa data plan. It is showing 4g lte on the status bar and I am very happy with the wwan performance. But is there some type of hidden menu or engineering menu to see what LTE band the tablet is connected to?
One of the reasons to buy this tablet was that it is supposed to support the new and very fast Band 12 LTE deployments of t-mobile usa. I am in NYC most of the time. I would like to know whether I am hitting this band or still on the older LTE band.
The LTE discovery app was no help as it does not show the lte band number. I am on stock 5.0.2 rooted.
Sent from my SM-T807T using Tapatalk

VS986 to use band 5 LTE abroad.

I meant to use band 5 lte in indonesia with smartfren using vs986. I used shortcut master lite app to enable band 5 (and/or disable irrelevant lte bands). However i still cant connect to it. I am certain that my location is under that lte band 5 coverage given that when i used other gsm sim i could see the network and attempt a registration on the network. Furthermore, seeing the networks rat id also match with the information online that it is indeed a band 5 lte network. However when i pop in the band 5 lte network gsm sim card, i am no longer able to scan for networks, it just fails to scan everytime, thus i cant connect. I wonder if there is a workaround to make vs986 able to connect to other lte networks other than verizon.
P.s. im on slim 13b rooted/xposed.
It's not just the bands. Verizon really borked the firmware of the phone to make sure that it doesn't work on any other 4G LTE network than its own. For instance, it doesn't work on AT&T and T-Mobile LTE network in the US either, even though the bands are supported.
What you can try is to switch the phone to "LTE/CDMA" mode in the "Network mode" settings. This will probably kill your phone connection, but if you get 4G LTE then, then you can try the same hack that worked for T-Mobile: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/guide-fix-vs986-dropping-to-3g-h-4g-lte-t3272434
But on some networks, there is no hope, for instance nobody was able to get it to work on AT&T.
I think i did check that thread out when i used t-mobile for about 6 months in seattle/udistrict/uvillage/uw areas, with no success. I never got the LTE connection. I wonder maybe its related to different roms/kdz/flashfire modified version of 13b that cause it. I hope someone whos lucky enough to get lte might share info about their 13b version/softwares that you debloat using debloater or froze using tibu. Thanks.
P.s. it was on 4g for an instant before it gives me no signal/network.
Why would VZW disable B5 if they have B5 sites?
That would really be stupid.
Posted using a calculator and delayed by AT&T.
LTE 2/4/5/13 can be activated using Shortcut master lite. The problem is that, when i used a simcard that utilized LTE band 3/8, i could detect/attempt registration to signal from LTE band 5 from local network through GSM (given that i activated it). However when I used simcard for that LTE band 5 network, somehow, i can no longer use gsm/cant search for network/crashed. It seemed that LTE antennae on this device is programmed to only accept verizon's. (For lte networks, apns are saved when i put MCC/MNC or RAT for verizons, but discarded when i put other). Thank god though i could still use umts/3g.
Edit: So i tried again. Turns out, i could to get registered on the network, checked on network type and strength (says 4g - 3/4 bars) also on lte discovery says connected. However signal bars says unable to connect to network. Verizon definitely prevent users to use lte on another network. What a **** company.
this is from Verizon website them self
Network
CDMA, GSM, LTE*
Frequencies
1.9 GHz CDMA PCS, 800 MHz CDMA, GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, LTE 2/4/5/13, LTE 3/7 for Roaming*
which show it support band 3 in case of romaing only..but if you are in USA will not work sure as it is not romaing.

G7 Thinq won't connect to LTE on T-mobile...help

I just got a brand new international version of the G7 Thinq, it is the international version, with 128gb and 6gb ram.
I'm able to connect to T-mobile and make calls etc, but it won't connect to LTE even though I've been using LTE for years in my area with no issue on old phone.
T-Mobile support was not able to help me.
The highest it connects is 4g
I really do not want to return this phone to the seller, but I don't want to settle for a phone that can't connect to LTE like my old one.
Willing to try anything...any ideas?
Thanks
4G is LTE.

Do you have this phone and live in a LTE area? My old phone actually said "LTE" for the signal when it connected with LTE, are you saying this model phone does not actually say "LTE" on the signal bar?
Can anyone confirm that this phone says "LTE" at the top with an LTE signal?

I have this phone and I'm aware of that.
4G *IS* LTE.
You need to google what LTE is.
occasionally you will see 4G+ (downloading).

I just googled it and I've read 3 sites so far that says they are not the same.....
https://www.tccrocks.com/blog/what-is-difference-between-4g-and-4g-lte/
I'm not trying to start an argument. I'm just used to my phone displaying LTE and if you are saying this model does NOT display LTE, and displays a "4G" instead, then that answers my question. Some sites even say HSPA+ is 4g, and I know that is different than LTE.
On tmobile he is correct 4g is hspa+.. My g7 says 4g lte when on lte.. Did you do a network reset? Or call tmobile and ask then to redo your phone activation to make sure you register on there network right.. Maybe need a newer sim?
Check the APN settings

It's possible that the APN settings may need to be tweaked. I'd start there.

Mine says 4G+. Figured that was LTE.
and 4G (without 4G)+ is not LTE?

I've called T-Mobile, had them do a restart, had them check APN, etc.
I'm using the same sim as my old phone that gets LTE just fine, so it's not that.
I'm thinking something about this international version maybe doesn't support one of the bands or frequencies that T-Mobile uses in Chicago (even though it says it supports GSM worldwide)
I'm probably going to send it back as my 3 year old Motorola phone gets a higher tested download speed on a speed test than this new one without LTE. Just wanted to check if anyone else had the issue. Thanks

T-Mobile uses LTE bands 2, 4, 12, 66, 71, while the G710EAW, which I assume is the model you've bought, supports bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28, 38, 39, 40, 41 - so none of the TMob LTE bands.
There are six variants of the G7, G710EAW is aimed at Asia/Oceania and together with the G710EMW (64GB/8GB single-sim version of your variant) the only one that doesn't support at least two of the TMob LTE bands.
Sorry, hope you'll find a nice replacement

This is what I was afraid of. But I specifically purchased this model because it had the 128gb, the extra 2gb RAM, and dual-sim....I'll have to research if this is available in one of the models you mentioned but so far I've only seen the 64gb with single sim so I guess I'll have to find a new model. Thanks for the info.

Who told you this?
I have the G710EAW and it most CERTAINLY supports bands 2 and 4.
It's even labeled DIRECTLY on the box itself.
Don't get your information from the LG website. The site only shows which bands are used IN THAT REGION, not what is supported by hardware.

Don't believe everything you hear on the internet. Bands 2 and 4 are supported.
These are the bands supported by the G710EAW.
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900
WCDMA: 850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100
TD-SCDMA: 1900/2000
LTE: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B12/B13/B17/B20/B28/B38/B39/B40/B41
If a band is NOT supported, trying to select it will show "FAIL" in the engineering menu.
Example: band 25 is shown, but not supported. This will show FAIL.
It was the international LG G6 which had problems with T-mobile, as Band 2 was not supported (shown in service menu, if you select it it shows 'FAIL'.)
I sold one of these phones (I had 2) to a T-mobile user and he's happy.
I have also the 128 GB lg g7 eaw version. My phone shows 4g also. The speed test i have done is 60mbps both up and down and i am ok with that.
What is the diffrence between 4g and 4g lte? Should it display lte?

My G710EAW shows 4G+. Uaing Net10 on band 2 which uses tmobile's servers. I think each and every person here needs to stop crying wolf. Seriously.
If the US version shows LTE and the international version shows 4G+ I mean who cares if its the same damn thing?
https://www.4g.co.uk/news/what-is-4g-plus-ee/
4G+ is another name for LTE-A, LTE-Advanced or 4.5G and it’s basically a faster version of 4G. It works through carrier aggregation, which allows 4G phones to receive data from multiple bands in the 4G spectrum.
So while standard 4G only uses one band at a time, 4G+ can combine two bands for increased speeds. In EE’s case it’s the 1800MHz and 2.6GHz bands which are being combined

The information is from gsmarena. They have been spot on with this kind of information the last times I checked. However, it seems like they're off with the G7. I just compared my variant with their information and it's off as well. Thanks for catching this!
So in that case I can only think of one reason why the OPs phone would not connect to TMobile 4G: the network in your area is using bands that are not supported by your G7. However, this is quite unlikely, since these would be 66/71. From what I read, they have only been introduced in 2017.

Moto Z2 Force (USA AT&T UNLOCKED) doesn't have LTE with any Venezuelan SIM provider

Moto Z2 Force (USA AT&T UNLOCKED) doesn't have LTE with any Venezuelan SIM provider
Hello i will do my best to try to explain my issue.
I bought a Moto z2 Force x (At&t) unlocked in EBAY, here in Venezuela i used in Movistar (3g band 1900 / LTE band 4 1700/2100)
The phone dont work with LTE , only 3g (it show 4G logo in signal bar, but not 4g LTE) .
if i do *#*#4636#*#* and enter in network hidden menu, and put in LTE ONLY, the phone enter in NO SERVICE.
I have tried Digitel (3g Band 900 / LTE band 3 1800) , same thing, only takes 3G, if put on LTE ONLY, no service.
In settings, networks, movil networks, preferred network type are only 3 options ( 4G Recommended, 3g, 2g).
I put a Verizon wireless sim card and the options change in the network menu (Global, CDMA, LTE,GSM,UMTS), but no signal because im here in venezuela, of course.
If i put a AT&T the menu totally changes, put ad LTE, LTE ROAMING, VOLTE...
What can i do with my phone to enable 4G LTE Bands? Why my phone is not working with LTE normally? It is software issue? At&t stuck phones to dont work with LTE with foreing sim cards?
Im very confused because if i put Movistar and Digitel SIm cards in LG g6 H873, Moto G4 Amazon PRime, Xiaomi Redmi 6, all the phones takes 4G LTE in seconds.
I hope some of you have the correct answer. Sorry for my bad english, i've did my best

S20 only one LTE band received

Hi to all,
I have a strange signal issue with my S20 (G980F) , it just seems to receive only LTE band 20, all other lte band are not working so in every place not covered by lte B20 i'm without 4G network.
In the same place, with same carrier, my girlfriend get LTE band 3 and me LTE band 20, i tried to force LTE Band3 by the secret menu, but, in this way no LTE signal riceived.
My S20 is running Android 12 with last realese of ITV firmware, i tried to clear cache but it is not fixed.
Do you have any idea?
Thanks
Could some different fw help?
Thanks
I have that same problem. were you able to find any solution?
